I know this probably comes up a lot but what about a leveling system in the mini profile. Personally, I kinda find it enjoyable to be able to see my character level up, plus the way this site is, its kinda like an RPG already. This is just my two cents but I could definitely go into it more if we're willing to give it a chance.

I would most likely fall off the site. I hate Text-Based RPG's, I enjoy RP's. Simple as that; if my roleplaying skills and abilities outmatch yours in every possible way and my character was able to beat you, I don't want to be trumped by the stupid fact that you have a higher level than me.
Just my two cents, haha, but I hate leveling systems, they are dumb in my opinion. Plus, stats get involved, and its to much mental stress and battles lose their fun of creativity of personal freedom.

We'll, not to break this to you but thats kind of how it is now. This will just kinda be putting a level bar on it. Cause the abilities that we use have levels so you're kinda in it already. Im not saying make a Str, Dex, Qui, stats and all that but maybe use rupees to buy items and exp to level up abilities and gain new ability slots.

I suppose it would depend on exactly what the stats are reflecting. I agree with Fane about not liking to see comparisons between supposed character strength and I'm not personally sure whether I like it on this sort of RP environment.
I detest levelling systems anyway and I've consciously fought against them on any RP site I've been on because of the way that it affects the Casual and Story system. A levelling system would require a system that is fully based around stats anyway, fixed damage and the such, which doesn't exist within the Casual and Story system.
I'm not sure whether it would be best suited to reflecting EXP points either or using them to acquire ability slots, being as that's what the money system is for. The advantage of the money system is that you have one pool of resources that you can use towards whatever you want, rather than having to rely on filling up separate bars for each thing. You then have to consider exactly how you get EXP and values for doing certain things such as posting and completing events, among other things.
I'll mention it in the Staff board, but it certainly won't be getting my vote.

If SoS gets a leveling system. I'm done. That's how strongly I feel about it. To each his own though.

The site already has as much of a leveling system as needs be on an RP site. You make your posts, get rupees (experience) and use that to "level up" by upgrading your abilities. That's as close as we're going to get to an RPG. If you want leveling up, there are MMOs.

Given the bitter vitriol expressed here, I think that a levelling system probably won't see the light of day

May as well let Az have the final word, but, to further express my point, my sentiments pretty much match Ryst's.
I'm also good without people getting a massive ego-trip from how high a level they are in comparison to others and how powerful their abilities are... which is why I don't play MMOs. I'm good without a load of assholes dancing around me boasting about being a Lv. 80 whatever, an RP environment is much more friendly environment without this sort of system.

*Raises hand* I see both sides of the coin, and I can agree with Hadrian, having levels is kinda cool, but I don't want people feeling restricted to 'levels'.
I full well admit, Hadrian is technically right in that one could argue there is a level system in play already with buying new magics and upgrades, but actually tying people's stats TO levels would be rather unfair.
Not to mention the degree of difficulty in making those levels balanced between Races >.>
Now, MAYBE having Levels as just a show of Post Count? Level 20 for having 200 Posts? I may be willing to do that, as it would be the same as Karma, something that doesn't really effect anything on the RP, but is something members can enjoy showing off or whatnot.
Anyone's thought on that idea?

So people could brag aboutbeing a certain level? Count me out. This will just bring somethin unneeded to the forum. Especially if it's just tied to post count. What's the point?

I think we're better off without it. Those for have expressed interest, but they're already here so it's not a selling point. For those against it could ruin the site entirely and drive them off. Honestly if it's causing this much controversy we should avoid it.

What's the point in Karma? lol Its just something for people to have, doesn't do anything.
I agree with Hadrian that leveling up is entertaining, hell, I've been apart of .hack RPs for years, I know the fun of fighting tooth and nail to get a higher level.
And Youkai, people brag about EVERYTHING, don't act like this would be special >.>

As far as editing it to apply to post count goes, it wouldn't be any different from people boasting about the figure their post count is. It'd just be a bar instead of text. I can't really see an issue with putting something as small as that is, being as it's not really related to characters or anything and it's just a visual indication of post count.
The issue I had before was people using it to boast about progression IC and the such, which isn't really affected by a post count bar.

Yeah, I figure I'll put my opinion in here too, decision or no.
I'm gone if we get a leveling system. This is RoT2, not TW2.

Let's see. Fun for a few members or controversial to the point that they'll leave for more. Seems like this shouldn't be a debate. Just brag about how many MUs you have or something.
