...I'm seriously about to make this another topic if people don't understand that we've already tossed out it being official "levels" and more just a bar to replace post count >.>
"Oh I have over 9000 Posts~" "Oh I am level 9~" Same thing >.>
No stats, no nothing.

Indeed, the topic now is just replacing the post count figure with a bar; which isn't a major issue. It'd just effectively be a little system whereby the bar would fill for every 100 posts or whatever and you'd get a member rank, much like you do in every PB forum for your post count (which used to replace the user title).
It wouldn't be anything to brag about character-wise, simply an OOC feature reflecting how much you've posted, as the normal figure reflects already.

I think it might be safest to let this drop; we don't stand to gain anything truly significant by instigating such a system, but several people are clearly uncomfortable with the idea. I recognize the desire for a levelling system; the checked measure of growth and such. But the arguments against it are valid. This is supposed to be about RPing, not about accruing points and levels and such. We have videogames for that sort of entertainment, after all.

I'll await more input before deciding.

My point is that it isn't needed. If saying Im leve 9 is the same as having 900 posts then whats the point?
Post count is more accurate anyway. Like it was stated earlier. This an RP. Not a competition. We don't need bragging rights or anything. /rant

People strive harder for levels, as Hadrian and Medy have both said, than just normal posts.
Like I said, I'm thinking on it.

Alrighty, talked it out, and no, at least for the moment, we won't be implementing this.

I shall give my input now! Even if it is unwanted! Ho ho ho!
Even if we were to implement a level system, we would do it the right way. Meaning that everyone gets uber weak abilities at the beginning and progressively upgrades those abilities and earns additional stronger ones as they level up. That is kinda how things are now (hence the lack of need for a level system), but the difference being that starter abilities would have to be weaker and thus we'd need to start all characters over again as weaker. We've been rather lenient in what is accepted; that is, even if a nuke does low damage it is still a nuke.
And then the other side of things is that our "stats" are already kinda theoretical. But when you're doing a level system, those stat numbers become way more theoretical. Though it can work with the right crowd, it still carries infinite problems. It is way easier right now when while stats are still theoretical, everyone is pretty much equal unless they give themselves techniques and body styles to change that. (For example, a Goron will have a higher Physical Strength stat than anyone else, but a human could surpass that with an ability.)
On the flip side of that, a level system would working amazingly with my heart system and the LS system. But it isn't worth it.
Besides bragging rights, the purpose of levels is to define winners and losers better. What we could do is bring forth my rock - paper - scissors system from FM. I don't recall what I called it there, but it was fairly neat.
Edit: Oh, shi, it is locked. My bad.
