PERSONALITY,
Hong is generally not a pleasant person unless you agree with her from the get go. She is pretty self-centered and worries more about how an action would benefit her rather than benefit others around her. She prioritizes her own development and so she's pretty difficult to establish a long-lasting relationship with. If she doesn't view you as a good sparring partner or someone of benefit to her, she generally doesn't concern herself with you. What's strange about it though is that she isn't hostile about it, and she really doesn't mean anything by her actions. It's simply because as a person, she can't view others as more than things. She can't even view her grandfather as 'someone to be loved' but 'someone who teaches me more techniques'.
If you can get around her views on people, then she's a good-hearted person. She just wants to improve her own martial prowess. There's no malicious intent behind it and she never kills the people she designates as 'sparring partners'. The only ones she kills are those who try to kill her or those who offend her to the extent that only death can make up for it. To her, killing is nothing but a waste of good targets for later on. If they can at least be punching dummies for new techniques, then why not keep them alive? Still, for a girl who can only see people for their practical uses, this is a generous form of kindness.
A side effect of her views and her upbringing is a very narcissistic undertone to just about everything she does. She has the knowledge that other people need to improve their fighting abilities as well, and that there are other warriors out there beyond her, but she pretty much chooses to disregard it to focus on herself. This is both a good and bad thing because it keeps her from getting distracted from her training, but it also makes it near impossible for her to acknowledge the accomplishments of those around her. In fact, she just doesn't acknowledge them at all. Her refusal to acknowledge other people's achievements though means that if she loses to someone, it's not because 'they trained more than she did', but 'she didn't train enough'. Because of this, she has a tendency to cause self-punishment to ensure that she keeps her training up.
APPEARANCE,
Hong is an average girl in terms of size, only standing at around five foot five with an average build. She's not particularly muscular, outwardly at least, though her body does have strength to it hidden within. Her skin is a typical caucasian tone, not having gone pale thanks to enough exposure to the sun during her training. The parts of her that do stand out are her hair and eyes, which are something she picked up from her father. Her hair is a vibrant blue color, which she's let grow out since she left the dojo, so it now reaches below her waist in length, and she always has her bangs hanging in front of her shoulders. Her eyes are a faded red color, almost red-purple, so they're far from producing sharp gazes unles she's intending to.
Her outfit is something she picked as a way to spite the garbs she had to wear most of her life. Her shirt is a white button up, with a black stripe running up the length of the buttons and white lace lining the black. She also has a black stripe on each of her sleeves lining the opening, with a gold pattern sewn into the black. Around her neck she wears a red bowtie, which is tied under her shirt's collar. She wears a blue skirt with white lace lining the hem, though over that she has a white apron with a large black stripe along its edge. Attached to the hem of the apron is a line of colored clothes sewn together at the corners, which together make a sort of gradiant of color with the left side starting at red and the right side starting at blue. For travel purposes, she wears a pair of black boots and on top of her head a small black hat, which always has four peaches balanced on it with two on the left and two on the right.
WEAPONS,
N/A
ITEMS,
- A small orange rod, about an inch in diameter and a foot in length, that she keeps on her person at all times. Inscribed on its hilt is supposedly the secrets of her fighting style, but it's written in an ancient form of hylian she cannot translate. It was a 'gift' from her grandfather, which she uses as a focus for chi manipulation.
- Her signature hat that almost always has peaches balanced on top of it. Despite what people think, it's not a fashion statement, but a constant training exercise. If the peaches fall off, she fails the exercise.
- A map of Hyrule that she constantly refers to so she knows where she's going.
ABILITIES,
- Human Slot: Chi Manipulation ~ Aether Shape
The most basic form of chi manipulation, this was the first thing Hong had to learn to progress in her teachings. It's a pretty basic ability, but it's a fundamental that allowed her to learn to guide her chi. She is able to move her chi in order to either form a protective 'field' around her body or to make weapons, so long as she has something solid to base her weapon around. Either one has a cosmetic effect of constantly shifting through each color of the rainbow, the field taking on the look of a rainbow aura around her, while her weapons look like a normal weapon of the type but they shift in color. She cannot make weapons with complex mechanics nor multiple weapons, thus forcing her to stick with one weapon made in this way. Either use of this ability has the durability of regular steel (in the case of the aura, for LS terms, she gains a half condition's worth of protection since it is effectively covering her in steel, so all damage is reduced by half a condition, to a minimum of half a condition). LS terms, it takes one action slot in order to either make something like this or shift it's usage.
- Chi Manipulation ~ Earth's Stance
By evenly spreading chi throughout her body and attuning herself with the earth beneath her feet, Hong can enforce her body with the stability and durability of earth. So long as she is in contact with the ground, she ignores the knock-back from attacks that would normally push her due to the sheer force behind it. However, because the energy behind the attack has to go somewhere, the ignored push becomes extra damage that she takes. In LS terms, each attack that is powerful enough to have knock-back deals an extra half condition of damage. However, while the stance is activated, she loses the capacity of jump entirely, as her body is 'one' with the earth beneath her. She can walk and run, but she cannot jump. Again, LS terms, it takes an action slot to activate the stance, and another action slot to deactivate it. To those who can 'see' magic in use or detect it's locations, it'd come across as a orange-ish brown aura in her legs and the ground directly beneath her. As a side effect of using this often, Hong's body has more or less become numbed to pain, meaning she doesn't actually feel the nerve sensation from pain but she knows when she is injured and is stopped by attacks like normal.
- Chi Manipulation ~ Fire's Arm
In times of need, one's spirit grows stronger and learns to produce more chi for the body to use. Hong has learned to harness this and channel this extra chi into her power. While she is heavily wounded, Hong's strength multiplies triple fold, allowing her to fight her foes with even more strength than she can muster normally. However, this only lasts so long as the desperation and need to survive remains, and so if her wounds are tended then her spirit calms down and the chi flows from her into the universe. In LS terms, this is active as long as she is Wounded or worse, and it makes her regular attacks deal an additional whole level of damage (aka 1.5 levels of damage per regular attack). To those who can sense or see magic, while this is active, a red aura will envelop her arms and appear like a flame.
HISTORY,
In the Eldin province, in the mountains beneath Death Mountain set roughly between said mountain and Kakariko Village is a dojo of sorts. This dojo was supposedly established back during the beginnings of the world, built by their ancient ancestor in the time of the Goddesses. Whether that story is true or not, the dojo had been around for as far back as the Zanshi family can be traced. As it stands, the dojo is currently run by Master Chen Zanshi, the eldest member of the Zanshi family.
Hong Chi Zanshi is the granddaughter of Chen Zanshi, as well as the only child to the Zanshi name. Though her grandfather didn't approve of a woman being an heir to the dojo, he decided that until a son was born, he would train her to see if she had the capacity to learn their style. If she proved successful, he would consider her a potential heir to the dojo, as her father was incapable of inheriting the dojo himself. As soon as she was capable of beginning her training, Master Zanshi promptly forced her to start, partly out of cruelty for being forced to raise her as the heir and partly to see if he could rule her out of it as soon as possible.
The Zanshi fighting style has always revolved around tapping into one's spirit and learning to control their chi, which would then be combined with their martial arts to make for a fighting style that merged body, mind, and spirit for maximum capabilities. Unfortunately, as time passed, weapons were forced to be included in their fighting style as it proved more and more difficult to use pure martial arts to defend against increasingly armed opponents. However, the fundamentals of the style remained the same, and so the first thing Hong was forced to learn was how to find her chi and then how to direct it.
This actually proved to be a strength for Hong, as she was quick to pick up the basics of directing her chi, much quicker than other disciples at the dojo. However, the martial training that went with it was a bit more difficult, as because she started at a young age her body wasn't capable of even meeting the requirements to fight. So despite the slowed pace of her martial learning, she was continuing to progress in her chi direction.
As Hong grew older, she continued to prove herself against the other disciples of the dojo, having a winning streak against those around her age. Against those much older than her, for quite some time she lost due to their higher physical capability, though because of her nature this only forced her to train harder. Eventually, with effective use of her chi and enough martial prowess, she was capable of defeating some of the older disciples, which actually began to worry Master Zanshi. While he did love his granddaughter, he did not approve of the idea of her being the head of the dojo. She was already in her adolescent years, and soon would be old enough to take over the dojo for herself.
When she hit the age of fourteen, Hong's parents had another child, this one a boy. While she was unaware of the fact, this more or less put her on a timer until she would be forced to end her training. To make her believe she was going to truly inherit the dojo, Master Zanshi gave Hong the treasure of the dojo in order to continue her training. It was a small orange cylinder, which supposedly had the secrets of their style written on it. Whoever could decipher it would have access to the full power of their style. Blissfully unaware of what was truly going on, Hong continued to train along with the other disciples.
It was when her younger brother hit the age of five, putting her at nineteen years old, that the truth came out. The day after her brother's birthday, he forbid her from entering the dojo and declared her no longer a student of the Zanshi fighting style. When he tried to get the dojo's treasure back from her, however, she instead ran out of the dojo with it, leaving behind everyone that she knew and into the world. She ended up arriving in Kakariko Village, where she abandoned her old training garbs that were filthy from the trip and now meaningless and acquired new clothes, as well as a map of Hyrule. Intending to continue to train and one day overpower her grandfather and take back the dojo, she set out for the rest of Hyrule, unaware of what was out there and not particularly worried.
EXTRAS,
She's a bit dense about the rest of the continent, so don't expect her to know a lot culture-wise.

Just a couple of things, if you change Earth's Stance to a half level, then I'm cool with that (So like bolting an extra Low Attack bolted on). Just to set precedent on these things.
Everything else is fine by me. *nodnod*
