It was a cloudy early morning as Youkai walked silently down a corridor leading away from his chambers. The barracks had become a slightly less hospitable since word about the slaughter got out. The other Knights didn't dispise him for what had happened. But some of them were afraid of him. He had blacked out when he lost control of his powers, slaughtering the rebels that had attacked him. The Knights that had accompanied him that day saw everything and have since requested transfers to some of the other Lieutenants charge. One of them even resigned as a Knight. Even now as he walked alone downt he corridor, the Knights and Sentinels passing by tensed up as the past him.
He cursed under his breath and clenched his fists tightly. How long would that accident haunt him. How did it even happen!? He was the first Hybrid to ever reach the rank of Lieutenant. He was suppose to be a role model. It was something that was suppose to show inspiration to the kingdom. Something for his family back in Denwind to be proud of! But he screwed it all up. Those who saw what he had done viewed him as a monster, and those who had only heard were very cautious around him.
"Damn it!" He slamed his right fist into the stone wall beside him. Luckily nobody seemed to be around when he shouted. He had been handling what happened very well for the past few months. Things were finally starting to get to him.

x x Twelve years ago The children watched as their home burned, black tongues of flame scorching the field about them and licking at the wooden house they’d known all their lives. Struck dumb by horror and awe, they stood, the elder brother holding the sister close to him, tears streaming down his face as he screwed up in pain. Burns marked his back, and his clothes hung off in tatters. Once, he’d had wings of fire, but on this day they had betrayed him. Just as his sister’s flames had betrayed her.
Present day Rwaht did not often walk through Hyrule Castle, save when he was on official business. He could not pay his debt here, could not right what he had done in this place. These people, pampered Hylian nobles, strong Hylian Knights … they needed nothing from him. They needed nothing from anyone.
What am I doing here? He thought bitterly. He hated this place.
### He ran through the burning field, praying his sister would be safe, praying she could keep the fire away like she said. He had to save his parents, he had to. He ran to the house and beat at the door, flames burning fiercely at his hands and arms, but the door wouldn’t budge no matter how hard he tried. He was only a boy. He wasn’t strong. The roar of the flames was defeaning.
“Rwaht? Shayu?!” A voice cried, from the other side of the door. He could barely hear it. It was his father.
“Dad! Dad!”
### He shook his head, and bid the memories leave him. Even all these years later, they still burned. No time would soothe that pain, and nothing he could do could repair the damage he’d done, all those years ago. But he couldn’t dwell on it. He had to make what time he had mean something.
He walked down the hall, the sound of his boots echoing off the walls. There weren’t many people in the castle today, he noticed, except for Knights and Sentinels. That was just as well. He didn’t have much patience for the sort of person who lived in a castle. Down the hall, he saw a Knight. He frowned, recognizing the man. He was a Lieutenant … what was his name … Youkai.
Ah, yes. That one. Appropriate. He raised an eyebrow when the Knight punched a wall, and walked towards him.
“I was unaware the masonry was rebelling, Lieutenant,” Rwaht said dryly, giving a calm wave of his hand as he approached.

Youkai was almost started at the sudden presence of another. He had been so sure no one was around to see what he did, but from the man's comment, he definitely saw. Looking towards the intruding voice Youkai recognized the man as The Praetor of the Sentinel's Rwaht Orin. He had heard a lot about Rwaht in his time with the Knights. Being a Hybrid himself, Youkai was told a lot about the Praetor and his views. Sir Wilder spoke highly of him. In fact if Youkai hadn't been so hell bent on following in his Mother's footsteps he may have joined the Sentinels.
Youkai forced a smile to his face in a foolish attempt to mask his current frustrated and sorrow filled mood. "I had overheard it's devious plan to overthrow Princess Zelda, so I swiftly commenced an interrogation sir!" he said jokingly, glaring sinisterly at the wall he had just 'interrogated'. He thought it was weird that Rwaht was here. It was a rare site to see him anywhere near the barracks.
