Everyone loves music, so I thought I'd just put a thread up for people to throw a few bands across and have a bit of a discussion. Don't want to see any criticizing of other people's tastes or any flaming going on here, everyone has their own tastes. Naturally debating and all that jazz is fine, just don't get nasty. =P I used to be mainly a rock/metal person, though college has certainly broadened my tastes somewhat and I'm open to most genres now. If I had to put forward a top 5, I'd have to push forward: - Muse
Friend bought me their Absolution album when it came out and I fell in love with these guys. None of their albums have disappointed me, although the last two took a while to grow as Muse have started to really change their direction. Amazing live performers.
- She Wants Revenge
Not that well-known, the only genre I can really assign to these guys is what's said on Wikipedia; darkwave. Very similar to Bauhaus if anyone's ever heard stuff by those guys. Two albums released and I adore both. You'd be better listening to them rather than me trying to describe them. Second album (This is Forever) is my preferred album (their first one being self-titled). Introduced to me by a very old RP friend (Darkfire from MS and FM if anyone knows him).
- Marina and the Diamonds
Another Darkfire introduction. Talented British girl saves up a load of money to pay for a recording session and comes up with "The Family Jewels" as her debut album. Kind of indie, kind of pop, some pretty good tunes; she's got an amazing songs. Advised songs would be "Mowgli's Road", "Obsessions" and "Hollywood".
- Paramore
Went to a music festival in 2007, woke up early Saturday morning and checked out the band list. Saw a band opening at noon with a name that intrigued me. Went to the stage and sat on the rails with a beer and watched. This was just after they released "Riot", which had "Crushcrushcrush", "Misery Business", "That's What You Get" and "Miracle". Brilliant performance, glad I went (basically I saw Paramore and bought their album before they suddenly went massive and worldwide[/hipster]).
- Avenged Sevenfold
These guys have been tearing up the rock scene for a while and their latest album is absolutely brilliant. Saw them this time last month playing just before System of a Down at a festival and they were amazing. Great back catalogue, they're basically kind of... metalcore/hard rock. Advised songs: "Nightmare", "Bat Country", "Afterlife", "Beast and the Harlot", "A Little Piece of Heaven".
Other major loves would include Pendulum, Slipknot and System of a Down among many, many others. I'm a massive 80s fanboy and being British makes me a natural fan of the likes of the Beatles, David Bowie, the British 90s rock movement (Blur, Pulp, Radiohead, Oasis, Suede, etc), Queen, Pink Floyd, The Animals, The Who... I won't bore anymore. So, what sort of music fans do we have on SoS? =D

I envy you massively for seeing Rush, especially having seen them 5 times. Never been fortunate enough to catch them at concert, but I seriously want to. I hear they put on an incredible live show.

Oh my goodness... music to me is almost like... a second religion. Almost~ I love just about any type of music, but I much prefer genres that are moving, in one form or another. What I mean by this is a song that I put on my playlist, crank up my stereo and just dance wildly to in the secluded sanctuary that is my room~ >w>
I am in love with Techno (house, trance, electronica, etc), I'll listen to any techno-themed music except Dubstep. It sounds like noise to me. >.<
Some of my favorite DJs include: DJ Tiesto, DJ Encore, Safri Duo, SMiLE.dk, Freestyle Project, Scooter, ItaloBrothers, Bass Hunter, Owl City, and Lights~
Other favorite genres is pop, and rock/some heavy metal/alternative~
I've only been to one concert, and my older sister took me to go see a rising indie band (and the name of the band eludes me unfortunately), when I visited my family in Oklahoma a couple years back. ;w;
Medy~ I love your taste in bands, because I love them all too! I could listen to Pendulum or Paramore for hours personally, but other great bands I can't get enough of is:
- Breaking Benjamin
- Trapt
- Sum 41
- Green Day
- The Used
- The Birthday Massacre
- Eyes Set to Kill
- Shiny Toy Guns
- Saosin
... and many many many more. @w@
*coughs* Don't get me started with J-Pop~ That's a whole another epic long banter Sey doesn't have enough breath to rant her ardent love for it. :3

My taste in music is very......WIDE to say the least. Here are some of my favorites as of now:
-Audioslave -Emilie Autumn -Homestuck music (derp) -10 years -Family Force Five -Abney Park -Shinedown -Skillet (awake and remixed)

I will always remember Scooter for their cover of The Logical Song and what a beast of a tune that turned out to be. Basshunter's pretty beastly, not many people know of "DotA" by him, which... listen to that and you'll see similarities between that and another of his songs. But yeah, a lot of club anthems. Owl City, I only know Fireflies, which was a decent tune.
I'll have to read up on the trance artists you put up Sey-chan, I'm certainly intrigued by the genre. I've also grown fond of kind of... electronica indie bands, stuff like Crystal Castles, and Hadouken! being too prime examples. Certainly a nice mix of music there, I adore the mention of Sum 41, Green Day and Breaking Benjamin (teenage memories).
Tereza - Audioslave are boss, brilliant supergroup. Naturally you know RATM from Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk being in both Rage and Audioslave, just wondering what you thought about Soundgarden (Chris Cornell's other well-known band) who are pretty epic. I need to check out Skillet. Loads of people seem to like them, but I've yet to hear much by them.

I'm so jealous of all of you. I've never been to a concert. The only concert I will never admit to going to was lady Antebellum in Louisville Kentucky....and that was for a business conference. Honestly I only know one of their songs....
Bands I listen to?
Vocaloids Three Days Grace Breaking Benjamin The Used Skillet Evanescence Elvis Presley (Gotta love the King ;D ) Elton John Within Temptation White Lion (Not so much...but still) The Eagles HIM AFI Rammstein Tatu Trans Siberian Orchestra And A crap load of soundtracks from Disney to Moulin Rouge~
And my boyfriend "makes" me listen to: Ozzy AC/DC Sonata Arcticca Metallica
People who say they listen to everything haven't met me!

Just curious, did t.A.T.U actually do much after "All The Things She Said" and "Not Gonna Get Us"? After the latter song, I heard... nothing about them. Within Temptation are pretty awesome, Sharon den Adel belongs to that group of lead singers of bands who possess seriously powerful voices, really liked their cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" (which Placebo also did an awesome cover of).
There is nothing wrong with being forced to listen to Metallica, they've written some insanely good metal anthems. Plus, they're pretty damn good live. =P

See what I mean? And by forced I mean I hadn't reallly listened to them before, but find that I like them. I don't find many bands that I don't like,...except for rap, but even then it's not that bad. And as for Tatu, I know they have some more songs, and there's a remix I found that someone put together of them singing with Rammstein. But I don't really keep up with anything either ((D: FAIL)) So not really informed about anything in too much detail

I have a wide variety of music genres, but the main ones would have to be the flowing, sort of earthy ones. So, my list:
Celtic Thunder
Danny Fernandes
And of course, most of the Glee songs ;D
Idina Menzel
Lady Gaga
Mariah Carey (although most of her songs are kind of emo, I don't listen to those XD)
New Kids on the Block
REBA MCENTIRE. I can't tell you how much I love this woman. XD
Shania Twain
Any all and FF9 music.
Yup. I love video game soundtracks too, yay me. ;D

Oh I do love me some music, I'd go insane with out my trusty Ipod, or Youtube. (since I am a cheap CHEAP girl.) and I do NOT have a limited pallet, I love all sorts of music. It just depends on my mood. -Some of my Favorite Bands- Meg And Dia- 'monster' is such a sad song, and another of my favorites by them is 'Black Wedding'. I have also heard an AMAZING remix of 'Monster' www.youtube.com/watch?v=VioNTQAWKawRegina Spektor: she has a BEAUTIFUL voice, I love how pretty and, just fun her songs are. one of my favorites by her, 'The Call' Lily Allen: her songs amuse me to no end, she also did a MUCH better cover of Britney Spear's 'Womanizer' www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XGwBxwik2k also 'Not Fair' never fail to makes me grin. Kate Nash: I have a thing for woman singers don't I? well anyways, her songs lyrics also resonate with me well. I was introduced to her via 'Skeleton Song' and I've loved her ever since. I also love 'Nicest Thing' The Killers: god I LOVE these guys, I still always sing along to 'Somebody Told Me'. Hollywood Undead: I love there older stuff ALOT better, 'Young' 'Sell your Soul' And 'City' are amazing to me. Kerli: she is just so much fun~ her songs can be peppy and fun yet still creepy and gothic. "Walking on Air" and "Love is Dead" are both amazing. Nightwish: ah another wonderful melodic band. hey they might not be as good with out Tarja, but Annette isn't bad at all. 'Amaranth' is beautiful. Sirenia: 'My Minds Eye'... is beautifully creepy. Nirvana: one of the first bands I ever loved. RIP Kurt Cobain. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' IS the anthem of the 90s. MCR:... shut up XD there my guilty pleasure band. and I also LOVE video game music, anything from a RPG is normally good. And I adore the old Donkey Kong Country songs www.youtube.com/watch?v=73n7HTcmb5g www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDvKwSVuUGAAlso~ www.youtube.com/watch?v=ine3_jdQIIs&feature=view_all&list=PL3D72218B42CA7466&index=9
