It seemed she had said something wrong, the raw emotion that crossed Youkai's face however briefly made Kaythenia feel guilty for asking. Normally turning the tables just distracted whoever was quizzing her but didn't cause such obvious pain as she saw in the Knight. She stayed quiet, watching him carefully, unsure about how she was supposed to react. "You could say that...She was a healer with the Hylian knights.... She died in the line of duty before I even started looking for her..." There was something that she understood, the loss of a parent even if you never knew them. Kaythenia's memories of her own Mother were faded around the edges and growing fainter over time, she still remembered a kind voice, laughter, feeling warm and safe in her arms. What their home had been like. But she could no longer recall details, her Mother's face was slowly fading. It seemed unfair that Kaythenia had more vivid memories of Marcus than she ever wanted to think about but so few of her own Mother. The last thing she remembered of her Mother was something she would rather forget.
'Get out!!'
'Stand aside, Eayeth.'
The voice was clear, she had been crouched underneath the bed, watching two pairs of legs and trying not to breathe...but that was something to push back into the locked box in the back of her mind. After a pause she awkwardly reached out and patted Youkai's shoulder, gently rubbing it as you might to do comfort a child. Unsure of how she was supposed to react to him, what could she say? She hoped that Robert would come back to cause some distraction, Kaythenia felt less than equipped to deal with the situation at hand.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

As Kay's hand touched Youkai's shoulder he tensed slightly. He was not expecting that, nor was he expecting that he would be this emotional. He didn't reject her hand though. It was comforting, even coming from someone he had just met. He took a moment, to regroup and then looked at Kay with a smile that was both sincere and fake at the same time. "Sorry... I'm Okay." he said, trying to reassure her that he wasn't bothered by the thoughts going through his head. "You don't need to apologize... I don't mind..."
At this point he kinda wish he lied and just said he never found her, or that he found her and she was doing well... or something. He felt as if he made things awkward. Where do they go from here? Youkai looked back at his mug and took another sip before deciding to try and lighten the mood. "That is in the past..." he began. "As painful as never meeting her will always be, I met people who knew her and learned that she was a kind person and was admired a great deal by her peers.."
Yeah, that was his half assed attempt to save the conversation...

"Sorry... I'm Okay. You don't need to apologize... I don't mind...That is in the past. As painful as never meeting her will always be, I met people who knew her and learned that she was a kind person and was admired a great deal by her peers.."
Youkai's words and the look in his eyes contradicted eachother, Kaythenia withdrew her hand from his shoulder lest he feel her concern inappropriate, after all, he barely knew her. It was sad that he had never known his Mother though, even if Kaythenia's memories were few and somewhat faded now, she still remembered what it was liked to have a Mother who loved her. She topped up her mug of tea and lifted it to her lips, unsure of what she was supposed to say to him. But she could at least make the effort...there were a few moments of quiet between them while Kaythenia took a mouthful of tea and let the hot liquid slide down her throat. She didn't quite understand why Youkai could easily talk to her about what she would deem as a highly personal matter. Perhaps it was because he had little to bother hiding, even from a stranger? The Bard sighed and pushed a rogue lock of fiery hair out of her eyes where it seemed to insist on settling before speaking.
"At least you know she was a good person, her blood runs in your veins after all-"
Kaythenia lost her train of thought when she caught a reflection out of the corner of her vision, from the mirror that was hanging above the bar, her mouth suddenly went dry and her face ashen. There was someone sitting about three tables away in a hooded black coak, the hood drawn up so only the lower half of the face was visible. But it was the posture, the way the figure held themselves, that Kaythenia recognised. The key here was not to panic, don't behave as if she had seen him, don't run. While she was in a public place he wasn't stupid enough to act, the young woman knew that from experience. For now he would watch with interest...Kaythenia forced her eyes away from her mirror, feeling the muscles in her neck and shoulders tense.

Youkai almost wished she hadn't removed her hand. Sure, it was weird coming from a stranger, but at the same time it was comforting. During the awkward moment of silence that followed, Youkai found himself lightly tapping the rim of his mug. He started feel slightly better when he remembered his human mother. Aya at first had despised Youkai for being the bastard child of the family. A constant reminder to her husband's unfaithfulness. Later on however, she warmed up to Youkai as if he was her own, though the tension was always there. She never truly loved him as a son. It was the reason why Youkai longed for that true bond between mother and son that he could never have.
As Kay began to speak, her voice snapped Youkai out of his train of thought. He stopped tapping on the mug and looked up at her just in time to see her face when she cut herself short. For a brief moment her face was pale and had a look of shock on it. She seemed like she had seen a ghost. As quickly as it had come, it was gone. She was very good at hiding her emotions. Though Youkai could still tell she was tense, so he looked in the direction she had been looking at the time and saw the mirror. Taking a more careful look he didn't really see anything out of the ordinary. From his angle, the cloaked figure Kay saw was out of the mirror's view. He turned to face her with a concerned look across his face. "Kay? What's wro--"
"Order up!" Robert returned with their meals before Youkai could finish his question. He quickly looked at the middle aged man on the other side of the bar who was now placing Kay's stu in front of her as well as a plate of Cucco wings for Youkai. The man then looked at Kay as if he remembered something. "Hey... You said you're name was Kay right? That wouldn't be short for Kaythenia would it?" Youkai looked up at Robert shocked. How did he know her full name? "A man was in here a couple of days ago looking for a girl with that name and red hair like yourself. In fact the description he gave seems to suit you nicely." Robert said with a slight grin. He was always so proud with the small gossip he heard as innkeeper. He had no idea that what he just said was bad news.

Kaythenia kept her eyes trained on the wood of the bartop, as if she suddenly found the scuff marks and scratches on the varnished surface very interesting. She didn't move, she didn't speak. Both hands were folded into her lap and were clenched into tight fists that made the leather of her gloves creak slightly. She knew he was watching, she could feel his eyes burning into her back. And he knew she was aware of him now...how had he known she would come here? How had he made it here first? Her appetite had vanished and was replaced was the feeling of raw fear and nausea dwelling in the pit of her stomach. The Bard was aware that Youkai was watching her closely as well but she refused to catch his eyes. There was no need to bring it up...just keep breathing, keep calm. He was limited to what he could do to her out in the open like this.
"Kay? What's wro--" Youkai was interrupted by the arrival of Robert bringing their food, for the first time all day...she couldn't bear the thought of touching it. It was what came next that threw her off guard completely. "Order up! Hey... You said you're name was Kay right? That wouldn't be short for Kaythenia would it? A man was in here a couple of days ago looking for a girl with that name and red hair like yourself. In fact the description he gave seems to suit you nicely." The Innkeeper hadn't exactly kept his voice down, Kaythenia wanted to slap the smirk directly off his face. He didn't know what that meant for her! Her first instincts about him had been right after all, her gut was rarely wrong on such things. She forced herself to remain seated despite every muscle in her body being primed to bolt, to turn tail and get out of here. The young woman tried to speak but in her first attempt the words died before they reached her lips, the second barely more than a harsh whisper.
She couldn't bring herself to give anyone eye contact.
"I don't know what you're talking about..."
A whisper of a smirk crossed the lips of the cloaked man a few tables away, he raised a gauntlet clad hand to attract Robert's attention. His name was Davik and he knew exactly how to play this out, after all. He had been chasing the young woman to know her patterns.

Youkai wasn't stupid. In fact he was very good at reading situations. It was one of the traits that made him such an effective leader. It wasn't hard for him to tell that Robert had crossed a line, and that Kaythenia was feeling all sorts of negative emotions. One emotion that Youkai picked up on was fear. She was scared of whoever the man that Robert mentioned was. Why? Who was he? Youkai soon had his answer as the cloaked man made his presence known.
Youkai's face now had a serious and intense expression on it. Gone was the sorrow of the past. He was far more concerned with the here and now. He shook his head at Robert, trying to tell him not to acknowledge the cloaked figure. But his oblivious friend didn't notice. "Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! There he is now!' Robert exclaimed, waving Davik over. Youkai shot the intruding figure a harsh glance. He didn't know who this guy was. But Kay did not want him around. That much was clear. Youkai gently rested his hand on her shoulder in an attempt to make her feel somewhat safe. He knew she could take care of herself, and that this was her business. But he had brought her here. He would take responsibility and protect her if need be. "Robert you fool.." he muttered to himself, though it wasn't as quiet as he would have liked.

"Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! There he is now!'
Please Goddesses, No.
Kaythenia had managed to effectively evade him for a while now, it seemed that Davik had finally caught up to her. Inwardly she cursed she resisted the urge to strike Robert for his stupidity, he may not have known the truth of the situation but it was none of his business! Every instinct was screaming at her to just get out of there and quickly, she may be able to fight, she may have her concealed if slightly unstable powers but Davik held a trump card on her. And he made sure that she knew it. With great force of will she managed to stay seated, although she started slightly when the weight of Youkai's hand pressed down on her shoulder. She glanced sideways at him, he seemed to know that something about this wasn't right about this. Kaythenia was doing her best not to give off an aura of her carefully contained fear but Youkai appeared to be picking up on it. Just like Davik always did, like a beast that smelled fear a mile away.
He took his time sauntering up to them and pulled down his hood to reveal his face, he appeared to be in his mid thirties. Tall and imposing. Dark brown hair pulled back into a low ponytail out of his face, his eyes were dark enough to appear almost black like jet. There was a flash of pleasure in his gaze, mixed with subtle cruelty before he settled to an expression of being genuinely happy to see the young woman. He placed one hand on Kaythenia's shoulder, the long fingers brushing her exposed collarbone, the other around the back of her neck...subtly holding her in place. Davik ignored Youkai altogether, like he wasn't even worth bothering with.
"This is the young lady I was looking for Robert, you'll have to excuse her little joke, she has a rather unique sense of humour. Don't you, Love?"
The Bard felt frozen in place, there was a look in her eyes of such wretchedness under the fear. As if she wanted to lash out and force him to remove his hands but knew better of it.

Almost as soon as the man revealed his face, Youkai knew he did not like him. The way he carried his expressions simply ate at Youkai's nerves. He simply pissed him off. He also seemed like a dangerous man. A man who wouldn't hesitate to be a cruel bastard...and enjoy it. Youkai clenched the hand he hadn't placed on Kay's shoulder into a tight fist. As Davik placed his hands on Kay, he could feel an anger build up from within him just knowing that she did not want this at all.
Youkai stood up, his eyes narrowing in anger at the man who was most certainly not welcome here. It didn't help that he had completely ignored his presence. Such disrespect! Robert looked at Youkai and raised his hands up at him. "H-hey Youkai? Whats wrong? These two know each other. They are pretty clo-"
"Oh?" Youkai had cut Robert off with a strangely calm voice. "Close are they? Perhaps I'm crazy, but she doesn't seem to enjoy your company...Mr...?" Youkai had a somewhat sly smirk across his face. This man did not threaten him. Even with out the use of his Aeromancy, Youkai felt he could take him if it were to come to that.

"Oh? Close are they? Perhaps I'm crazy, but she doesn't seem to enjoy your company...Mr...?"
Kaythenia realised that Youkai has definetly pegged that something wasn't right but if he got himself involved then Davik wouldn't hesitate to remove a problem that stood in his way. He had done in before and he would do it again. She caught Youkai's eyes, worried at being indirectly responsible for someone getting hurt because of her...all over again. 'Don't' she mouthed to Youkai, trying to get him to stand down. Davik finally acknowledged the prescence of Youkai, giving him a cursive once over, curling his lips into a sneer as if he didn't like what he was seeing or being spoken to in such a manner. From what he had seen as he observed Kaythenia from a distance this afternoon, this was just someone who had enjoyed her rather charming performance. No wonder, there was always something magnetic about her aura. It drew people to her, people Davik had to dispose of when they got too curious.
"Davik." There was no offer of a last name. "And if I'm not mistaken you only ran into Kaythenia this afternoon." While he spoke his hand that had been resting on her collarbone lightly dragged two fingers across the skin of her throat before moving to play with a lock of her fiery hair caressing it gently between his thumb and forefinger. Every small movement was subtly intrusive, a quiet display of control. "Whereas Kaythenia and I...we go back a way, don't we, Red?" Davik spoke her name deliberately, letting it roll off his tongue.
There was a small but visible flinch from Kaythenia when Davik lazily moved his fingers across her pale throat, she felt sick at the feeling of his hands on her. He knew exactly what buttons to press with her, anyone else and the young woman would have already lashed out, but she knew exactly what he kept under the folds of that cloak. The Braigh, he wouldn't use it here...too many people but he could hurt her in other ways first. Like a predatory animal that enjoyed playing with it's food.

Youkai took notice of Kay's plea for him to back down. In reply he simply shook his head slightly and listened to the man's obvious bullshit. He raised an eye brow at Davik as he spoke. Specifically about the part mentioning how Youkai and Kay met earlier. "Ahhh! So you've been stalking her?" He said with an amused tone. Of course he wasn't actually amused. "That doesn't sound to me like someone who can be trusted.. And from her nervousness... I bet she would agree with me."
"Oi Youk!" Robert spoke up from behind the counter. From his perspective, this seemed like a lovers quarrel that Youkai was intruding on. Of course he was oblivious to the man's cruel intentions and Kay's obvious fear. "Why don't ya just let em be?" He tried to talk Youkai down, but Youkai wasn't having any of it. Davik was clearly not a friend of Kay's and he was no going to back down until he was gone.
Smirking, and ignoring Robert, Youkai continued. "The history you two have could go back a thousand years, that doesn't make it a good history." He glanced down at Kay. From his angle he couldn't see her face, but he could feel her tense shoulder beneath his hand. He had felt her flinch moments ago when Davik shifted his hands on her other shoulder and her hair. His smirk faded and his expression took on a much more serious tone. Though somehow, he gave off a calm and cool attitude. He was angry, and he did not like anything about this guy. But he somehow wasn't letting his emotions best him, even though it may have seemed so. "I think it is time for you to leave."

Oh Goddesses, if Youkai had any sense of self preservation at all he needed to stop and quickly! Davik wouldn't act here but that didn't stop him from hunting down Youkai later as he had done with anyone who had stood up for her in the past. No one else needed to get hurt, Kaythenia couldn't let it happen, why didn't he just listen to that big mouth of an innkeeper and stay out of it?! She had to do something, get out of here and get Davik to follow her, not like the latter part would be much of a challange. The Bard didn't think she would be running for her life today, sadly she never knew when it was going to happen. Her breath caught in her throat and she felt Davik press down a little harder than necessary on her exposed neck. Like he was making a point to Youkai although his face was impassive, as if he had no clue what the Knight was accusing him of. Still he watched the other man, calculating him and his next faux heroic move.
"The history you two have could go back a thousand years, that doesn't make it a good history. I think it is time for you to leave." Something flashed in Davik's eyes and he locked his gaze with Youkai. He removed his hand from Kaythenia's neck and grabbed her wrist instead, pulling her from the stool and to her feet. "I think you speak out of turn, Boy. I believe it would be best if you kept your nose out of my business with her."
With his attention focused on Youkai, Kaythenia took the moment to act, gathering her shaken wits to produce a ball of flame in her free hand. She knew that using her powers in an outright fight against Davik was pointless but she wasn't intending to fight, she was intending to run. She thrust it at the heavy fabric of his cloak, the flames licked the wool and flickered violently. On instinct he was forced to drop Kaythenia to throw off the cloak, the second she was freed. The young woman turned and sprinted through the crowded inn, people were panicking at the sight of the fire. Trying to get away from it, somewhere behind her a table was overturned. Tankerds and mugs crashing to the ground, the noise ringing in her ears alongside the banging of her heart and Davik shouting her name, the fury evident in his voice.
The Magess didn't look back as she skidded outside, her boots clattering against the cobbles as she picked a street to her left. Nearly crashing headlong into an older couple before sprinting as fast as her legs could carry her into the shadows.

Youkai took a step forward as Kay was pulled away from under his hand. He took offense to the 'boy' remark as well. If this guy only knew who he was. Still maintaining his composure Youkai stood ready to make a move. He began to analyze the situation. Robert was now shouting some nonsense about taking this outside. Youkai wasn't really paying attention to that. He could easily take down Davik with his Aeromancy, though he had sworn to not use his abilities. His Holy flair would do way to much damage to the surrounding area as well as the people within the inn. He cursed under his breath as he realized that at the current moment there wasn't much he could do.
Luckily for him, Kaythenia made a move. It all happened fairly quickly and as the flaming cloak dropped to the floor, all hell broke lose. People started to panic. Robert dashed for the fire with a jug of water. Youkai was more focused on the more important threat. As Davik took his frustrations out on a nearby table, Youkai took the opportunity to tackle him to the ground in an attempt to distract him from Kay. If anything, it would prevent him from seeing which way she had turned. "I may not know fully whats going on. But if you know what is good for you, then you will stay away from her!" He quickly stood up before Davik could respond, and sprinted out the door.
Luckily for Youkai growing up in Denwind, a place which Humans and wolves co-exist, allowed him to perfect the art of tracking. Figuring out where she had gone was easier for him than it would be for any other. Hearing the commotion around the corner to the left was a clue not many people would have picked up on. He continued running, following her path almost perfectly. With his training as a Knight, as well as his early morning runs with his wolf companion Swift, Youkai was able to catch up to the young bard moments after he had lost site of her in the inn. "Kay! Wait!" He called out to her knowing full well Davik was somewhere on these same streets, looking for her. Hopefully he wasn't having the same success.

Davik was seething, if he had been alone with her the Braigh would have had her powers bound and useless to her. He pushed himself up off of the floor following Youkai's threat, the boy was right. He really had no idea what was going on and when he found out he probably would wish he had never gotten himself involved with Kaythenia. He glared at the smouldering remains of his cloak and pushed his way through the panicked crowd and out into the street. No sense in chasing her down tonight, he had learned from experience to let Kaythenia torture herself. She never knew where he would turn up next and finding her again...well, there were plenty of gossip driven people around who would talk for a few rupees. Next time, he wasn't going to be so easy going. Tommorrow was a new day, tonight was a minor inconvience, nothing more...
Kaythenia kept pushing herself, she had no idea where she was going all she knew was that she had to keep moving. Davik could have seen the direction she had taken off in and be tracking her right now, this time she had gotten out of his grasp relatively unscathed, at least physically. Last time left more permenant marks that she wished she could forget about. She wasn't sure if she was hearing the echo of her own boots on the cobblestones or if she was being followed, the young woman pushed harder, picking up the pace. Until she heard someone shouting her name, it wasn't Davik's voice. Kaythenia skidded to a halt, breathing hard from exertion and fear. It was Youkai, he must have followed her from the inn. That hadn't been part of the plan...
"Why are you following me?"
Surely after what he had seen there Youkai would have more sense than that?! Kaythenia's trembling hands were clenched into fists at her sides. She spat the words out bitterly, the idea of causing that uproar was not just to seperate herself from Davik but to make sure he didn't clash with Youkai either. It seemed the young man had other ideas.

Youkai nearly ran into the poor girl as the fact that she stopped right away surprised him. He had expected the chase to continue for slightly longer than it did. Glancing behind him to make sure Davik wasn't following, he stood just a few feet in front of her. He was somewhat hurt by her question, but understood where she was coming from.
"I won't leave you alone while that man is still wandering the streets!" he sayer with a stern tone. He was aware they barely knew each other but he couldn't stand by as I'd nothing had happened. "Who was that guy Kay?". YoukI wanted answers now. If it meant that he would have to reveal his knighthood. So be it.

"I won't leave you alone while that man is still wandering the streets! Who was that guy Kay?"
That stubborn...he hardly knew her and here he stood demanding that she spill her guts about the entire messy situation. She stood firm despite the fact she was still faintly trembling, the adrenaline from her breakneck sprint dying down to help her cope with the shock to her system. Kaythenia was still breathing heavily, something of her earlier defensiveness had kicked in now that she was no longer in the precense of Davik. She felt like that side of her locked down when he touched her, like he was a living Braigh that subdued more than just her powers...but right now she had to face Youkai's demands to know what exactly was going on. The little voice in the back of her head reminded her that she would feel the same if the tables had been turned. Now wasn't a great time for her conscience to make an appearence.
"Davik is...he's...not important. You don't need to be involved."
A somewhat feeble excuse but there was no way in just telling half the story, if she said why Davik was chasing her then it would just lead to more questions. That would mean admitting to what happened with Marcus, why he had taken her in the first place. Everything in her situation was so closely intertwined that picking apart a single thread was impossible without unraveling the entire complex tapestry. That would reveal everything and the thought of that alone was enough to make her feel ill.

"Oh! Not important!" He exclaimed sarcastically. "Well if that's the case than I'll just be on my way...." He turned around and took a single step away, before facing her once again with a serious, slightly insulted expression. "Don't take me for a fool!" He was frustrated. Yeah, maybe they had just met. But Whether she liked it or not, Youkai was now involved. He witnessed Davik's personality unfold in front of him. He saw her fear, and nervousness as he touched her.
He took a few steps to wards her, closing the gap so that they were close, but not uncomfortably so. "You're right! I don't need to be involved." He stared directly into her eyes as he spoke. Absolute concern spread itself over his features. "But today I met a girl who was strong. A girl who could take care of herself with ease in any situation. But when that man entered the picture. I saw fear in her otherwise fearless eyes. You crippled under that man's gaze!" His gaze never left her and his tone was softer. "He obviously has something over you, and I want to help!"
The look he gave as he finished talking was one of stubbornness. He was going to be involved whether she wanted him to be or not. He wasn't letting this go. As he awaited her response it donned on him that it was now nightfall. Castle town's nightlife had now began and the sounds of people hanging out at inn's drinking and dancing through the town filled the air.

"Oh! Not important! Well if that's the case than I'll just be on my way....Don't take me for a fool!"
Kaythenia wouldn't meet Youkai's eyes at those words, she looked down at the dappled cobblestones at her feet, her shoulders held taught while the Knight snapped at her. When he stepped in closer she fought the urge to take a step back, her personal space had already been thoroughly invaded this evening. The Bard didn't want to suffer it further, even he was no longer in sight she could still feel Davik's hands on her, his fingers brushing across her skin and playing with her hair...it was a mockery of what you would expect from a lover. It was a card he had played before to persuade people to speak up about seeing her somewhere, the man was a very convincing actor. Unless like Kaythenia you could see through the thin veil which covered his true intentions. She swallowed down the lump that had formed in her throat and forced herself to meet Youkai's eyes, her gaze sharp. The concern in his face sent an unwelcome pang through her.
"You're right! I don't need to be involved. But today I met a girl who was strong. A girl who could take care of herself with ease in any situation. But when that man entered the picture. That was hard to hear...despite the fact it was true. Kaythenia's gaze lost some of the harsh impact at those words. Youkai did not have to be a master in the art of perception to see that there was something truly wrong about her situation with Davik. He had several things dangling over her head, her ancestry, what she had done to Marcus...and he was just waiting to let them drop like bolts of lightning to the ground. And they would cause an equal amount of damage. Kaythenia looked Youkai over carefully as if trying to read him, there was no trace of the 'charmer' that the fool of an innkeeper had mentioned earlier. He seemed truly sincere, he hardly knew her but here he was. Getting himself mixed up in this whole mess. The young woman sighed deeply and crossed her arms over her body, for the moment she stayed quiet. Listening to the sounds of merriment and chatter from the nearby inns, music drifting through the cool night air.
"I think you're out of your mind." She said quietly. "But...I can't talk here.."
It was too exposed, too public.

From the moment he had stopped speaking Youkai could tell that his words had gotten through. He stood still and silent as he patiently awaited her response. Youkai noted that her harshness had lessened as she looked at him, surely trying to read his intentions. He remained still, unflinching at her gaze. She wasn't the only one trying to read the situation. He too was trying to read her. It had seemed to him like she was going to open up. Though how much he couldn't quite tell. He'd be fine with any bit of progress at this point.
Finally, her voice breached the ambient noise of the town's nightlife. He offered a smirk at her comment about him being out of his mind. He wouldn't have used that wording, but he didn't really disagree. Nodding at her and chuckling slightly he began to ponder where they could go. He live in the castle so that was out of the question for now. Bringing in a random girl he had just met would raise an eyebrow or two. Robert's Inn was also out of the question since....well... the obvious really. Even if Robert weren't angry about what had happened, Davik would most certainly be keeping an eye on that place.
He let out a small defeated sigh as he came to a simple realization. He would have to explain to her why they couldn't go to his place, which meant revealing he was a Knight. Not a big problem compared to everything else, but he didn't know how she would react. "Well my place is out of the question." he began, looking around as if the answer would be on the street they were on. "We could try a different Inn, though that is still very public unless we got a room. As awkward as that seems it might be our best option unless you have a better idea?" He returned his gaze back to her, deciding to avoid his knighthood for a little longer.
She was a smart girl and the accident which caused the slaughter of a group of rebels had made Youkai's name familiar to a lot of people. He was worried that she would easily put two and two together and come to the come to realize his recent past. Youkai did not want another person knowing what had happened. Especially someone who had come to trust him, even if it was just slightly.

"Well my place is out of the question. We could try a different Inn, though that is still very public unless we got a room. As awkward as that seems it might be our best option unless you have a better idea?"
Kaythenia didn't see it as her place to ask why Youkai's home was out of the question, but then again it would feel offputting for her to be in his space. Not that she had even had a home of her own for a long time but she didn't want to feel like she was intruding on his. After all, he probably lived with other people who might start questioning why he was bringing a stranger home. All in all? Not a clever idea. Trying a different inn was a more viable option, it was more anonymous and Kaythenia felt she could be more on even ground with Youkai there. Even if the thought of sharing a room with him made her a little nervous, there were probably going to be some cutting looks from the innkeeper in question about that...But at this point, there was more at risk than her pride so the Bard was willing to submit to a minor knock if it meant she could sleep safely tonight.
"Our options are somewhat limited, somewhere we can blend in, anywhere too quiet would make it easy...if he's still nearby." Kaythenia's fingers brushed her throat almost on reflex as if she could still feel Davik's touch lingering on her skin. "Just somewhere safe, other than that I don't object."
For now Youkai's secret was safe, Kaythenia may have heard rumour about what caused the death of the rebels but since news reached her ears by rumour and gossip it was mostly discounted. Often such things were blown out of proportion, if he did decide to speak of it to her the Knight might even be surprised at the reaction. He was not the only one with blood on his hands after all...The young woman waited for Youkai to make a move, after all, her knowledge of the geography and details of Hyrule Castle Town was limited. She moved well out in the provinces, finding her way easily but larger towns threw her a little. Kaythenia was going to have to trust Youkai's opinion in where would be a safe place for them to stay, she was going to have to place a fair amount of her trust on his shoulders even if she hardly knew him.
The young woman didn't speak further, she was going to have to talk a lot more than she bargained for this evening once they had somewhere private to do so anyway...

In the back of his mind, Youkai was relieved that Kaythenia didn't return to assuming he was trying to charm her. In any other situation, his request would have been taken as such. He did not need another awkward moment where she thought he was hitting on her. Though he did start to question himself on why he was so hell bent on helping her. Yeah he was kind, but he was even surprising himself at how involved he was getting.
Shrugging his thoughts off he folded his arms across his chest and stared at the cobblestone beneath his feet. He didn't want to be to close to the castle, since people were bound to recognize him. He had wished he had brought a cloak or something, but there was no point in thinking about 'could have beens' now. He didn't want to be to far from the castle either. The farther they got, the less populated it was. It was just as she said. A crowd most certainly worked in their advantage.
Youkai sighed as he came to a conclusion he was...somewhat... happy with. Robert's inn was the closest to the castle, so he decided to go to one of his competitors. They were also near the castle which meant more people they could blend in with. And they would be close to their last known position which could throw Davik off their trail since he may not expect that. The only downfall would be that he would have to reveal his knighthood to Kay so that she wasn't surprised when he was recognized. Some of the knights went to these inn's to drink away a hard days work.
"We'll head to one of the Inn's Robert is in competition with. It will be populated and it is close by so Davik may not think to look there." he paused for a moment, sliding his hand into his left pocket he took on a casual stance. "However there is something I need to tell you first. Something I've been trying to avoid." He hesitated. He still wasn't sure how she would react. Having blood on one's hands wasn't out of the ordinary as a knight... or even as an inhabitant of Hyrule... but he had the deaths of many rebels who never stood a chance on his.... and their guts.
