As Grey walked, that was the only thing he could think, feel, say, or know. Silence screamed in his wild wolf ears as he moved quietly beneath the eternal winter moon. His limbs reveled in the sensation, his mind the word, his entire being in the utter sound of it. It echoed is entire being, sang his soul, and lamented over his past life. A child who was given no sympathy upon the day he was born. His primal instincts making a silent vow of revenge on the ones in his pack who cast him away. Exiled to live his life alone in the cold.
The snow made him feel at home, too, but he didn't know why. The only thing he knew about the powdery stuff on the ground was that it was cold and that he liked cold.
Cold.
It wasn't long before the wind picked up. Grey strained against it, fighting to remain standing, to stay alive, to keep the wind's sweet, sweet voice from invading his brain and whispering sweet nothings into his ears. It was his only company, but if he had the choice, he'd rather be completely and utterly alone. He would covere himself within the vast blanket of snow so that his body would sleep until it was time again to move. His long train of hair sparkling underneath the moonlight brushed through the icy terrain as if it was nothing.
It was all in his head, huddled right alongside the cold.
Moonlight yellow eyes glanced upon his arrival at an abandoned ruins. Now within the heart of Snowpeak itself now. He contemplated what must've been here when it stood at it's prime. Mortal items did not last long in this era, withered away from age, and lost in shame of what used to be.
It held little importance to the wolf Minish.

Oh, it was dark and so very cold! Ani sneezed, trying to huddle into the meager warmth her white cloak offered. Yes, Snowpeak was quite beautiful at night; the moonlight shimmering upon the virgin snow. The young fairy felt quite sleepy as she continued to trudge through the snow, but she knew that falling asleep on this mountain would be unwise. She certainly did not want to fall prey to the lulling cold, and she wished she had not ventured off from Aya. Honestly, all she had wanted was to feel useful, and so she had volunteered to scout the perimeter before they would set up camp for the night. [Actually, Ani had sneaked away before Aya could see, her curiosity getting the better of her.] Part of her wished to frolic within pretty snow, having never seen the lovely substance before. The Sacred Grove was always so mild in weather, but she needed to be paying attention to her surroundings! All she needed was some rest, somewhere to stop, and no doubt her sister would be able to find her. Why had she gone off on her own?
Ani stumbled forward, catching herself before she fell face first into the cold snow. Carmine eyes flickered forward, trying to see through the sudden rush of wind. It was rather cold, but she did not feel it as much against her numbing cheeks. Oh, that was certainly not good in the least. Her breath steamed against the cold air, and Ani pushed herself forward. Looming above her sat some ruins from what seemed like quite a long time ago, and she hoped that it would provide her with shelter. The hood of her cloak blew back, and her confined hair spilled free, silver strands twisting and melting with the backdrop of snow. Shivering quite visibly by now, she managed to make her way up the incline toward the ruins. A startled cry escaped her lips as she lost her footing, falling face first into the cold snow. Ani whimpered, hastily pushing herself up to keep from getting wet. Brushing the snow off of her, she made her way to a dilapidated arch, hoping that it would provide her with enough shelter for the moment.
Reaching out her tired hands, Ani began to push away the snow. She would dig a small hole where she could sit comfortably, and hopefully Aya would be able to find her soon. She cursed her own desire to try and prove herself, but all she had done was gotten lost and cold. Sleepily, Ani shifted into the hole, burrowing her slim body into her damp cloak. Carmine eyes became half lidded as her weariness began to settle in. Her blood was chilling within her own body, but she was trying to keep herself away so bravely. Ani would make sure the next place they traveled to would be warm and sunny. No snow, no cold, and certainly no mountains. All she wanted was for someone to find her, but she had drifted off into a light slumber without even realizing it.

Winter was a cold maiden who put the froze the earth without care or remorse. It was as if she stopped time itself, and placed everything within an eternal dream, and nobody could lie wake in her domain. She withered the flowers, and bared the trees barren of their leaves (save for the evergreens, and pines, who stood defiant against her icy nature). Even then, she would cloak them in white and icicles that glittered the colors of the rainbow. Winter was a beauty - there was no doubt about it - but it didn't not excuse her from being just as deadly as any natural environments such as the harsh thundras of Snowpeak.
Lír's yellow wolf eyes turned out to the corner. Soft footfrints marching within the snow came across his acute ears. He tensed up quietly unsheathing his claws ready to cleave a clean cut towards the unfortunate being who dared cross his path. He slowly calmed down when he heard a sudden thump into the snow realizing whatever creature was nearby wasn't atuned to the cold wraps of winter's embrace. His head turned slightly to the side noticing a sad excuse for a hole - if he didn't know any better he'd just brush it off as a snow hare burrowing deep into the earth to escape the cold (and actual wolves). Lír knew better that was a hole made by something else - it was shallow, and didn't appear to prove a lot of protection.
"I would advise against slumbering here," he said with neither malice, nor concern, "You'd be good as dead by morning light." Upon discovering what was the cause of the hole, his eyebrows furrowed in a slight 'v' shape staring at the girl who appeared to be in a daze. It did spark a small interest as to why this girl was out in the middle of nowhere, and especially on her own. It was the perfect scene for hunters of the snowy terrain to snack on a defenseless little lost girl.

(OOC: Been given special permission to enter, and make a guest appearance! ) Aya could not believe how ignorant she had been not aware of Ani's sudden disappearance. As soon as she discovered her twin went missing, she backtracked her footsteps, grateful that the footprints within the snow were still fresh, but it would not be long as the snowflakes kept pouring down like slow summer's rain. She made haste to follow where their trail together had separated, detecting Ani's footsteps in the snow. She shouldn't have gotten too far.
Unfortunately as the fire fairy followed her sister's trail, the more vague the footprints became. It only meant that the snow was picking up, and would fall heavily in no time at all. She had no time to lose! The young fireball took off into the sky batting her fairy wings as high as they'll take her until she got a bird's eye view of everything upon Snowpeak. She scouted high and low for her sister ignoring the whiplash of the icy winds that slashed at her face.
Her firelight orbs for eyes flickered brightly at the darken shaped of the what she determined would be the ruins. They passed through that area before a while back. Could she have sought shelter there? Aya didn't waste time prattle around, and dove down like a meteor in hopes that she'd find Ani there safe and sound~ Her long scarlet hair flowed like streams of a comet's tail shooting down from the atmosphere and down to earth.
The closer she got to the ground, she began to make out a figure standing up against the snow. A smile formed upon her face when she saw long cascading silver hair behind this figure. It had to be Ani! Aya just knew that beautiful color anywhere. She was hard to spot because of her starlight colored hair, but Aya had sharp eyes, especially when it came to finding her twin.
All of a sudden Aya stopped in her collision course to the ground. Her firelight eyes widened with shock realizing that she had mistaken someone else with silver hair for her sister. Though there was something laying right in front of the stranger with matching silver hair, but it was hard to tell what it was at first. Lowering herself down slowly this time, the figures were coming clearer, and clearer as she descended upon the earth.
"Ani..." she said softly with shock. Her crimson eyes burned with errant rage seeing her sister buried in the snow and some tall man with matching long silver hair standing right in front of her like that. What did he do to her sister?! Her blood began to boil with a blind rage as her face formed a fiery glare that shot at the back of the man's head. Drawing out her sword, and griping it with both hands. Plunging down with the same speed she did before, she raised her blade, and attempted to initiate the first strike at the stranger who stood in front of her sister. It mattered not what he did for whatever he did from her attack, she still pointed her blade at him, challenging him to try anything.
Aya's brash nature was a bit over the top, but she would be damned if anything happened to her sister. She could not bare to have her get hurt. "Touch a single strand of hair on her head, and I swear, I'll sever your head clean off of your neck," she threatened vehemently.

The cold was singing her to sleep, and Ani felt too tired to resist. A voice within her mind was screaming at her to get up and move, unless she wished to have this be her final night. Her slim body felt so very heavy and numb, stiff beneath her winter cloak. What was meant to give her warmth was only holding her down. Perhaps she should have dug a deeper hole? Ani had read of people that lived in snows using the snow to form icy shelters that held in the warmth generate by body heat, but kept out the cold. Her thoughts were slow, and her body was not responding on her urging to get up and keep walking. Sleep was settling into her weary bones, and time was of no consequence. Reality shifted in and out as Ani dozed off, not sensing the nearby presence that had taken notice of her. Honestly, it was a miracle that anyone was out here at all, and she could faintly hear the sound of crunching snow as someone stopped beside her. All she wanted was to sleep, too tired to keep on trudging through this cold wind and snow.
A deep voice roused her from her light slumber, and Ani tried to focus her hazy mind upon her surroundings. Her heart began to beat more heavily against her chest, desperate to increase blood flow to her numb limbs. Carmine eyes flickered upward, the hazy image of a tall male looming above her. Oddly, she did not feel any fear as his golden eyes stared down at her coolly. He was warning her against falling asleep, and she knew that this stranger was quite right. Gratitude flickered within her tired eyes, and Ani attempted to push herself into a standing position. "Y-yes. T-thank you for w-waking me," she stammered, trying to speak through her chattering teethe. Well, her tiredness was pierced through as she caught sigh of a familiar scarlet descending from the air. Relief welled within her heart at the sight of her sister, and a delighted smile curled upon her blue tinged lips. Her twin had managed to find her, and she swore to never wander off again.
Ani was confused as to why her sister appeared so angry, though. What is the man in front of her? He had helped her wake up! Carmine eyes widened as Aya unsheathed her blade, and she lurched forward at the sight of her twin jumping to conclusions. "No!" she cried out, her voice an octave higher. She scrambled onto her numb legs, a surge of adrenaline beginning to warm her body with energy. She stumbled to place her body in front of this innocent man and her sister's sword. "He didn't do anything, Aya! Please, he just tried to wake me up is all!" she pleaded, throwing her arms out wide in a protecting gesture. There was no doubt this male could take care of himself, but this was also for Aya's protection. Ani would not allow a fight to happen for her own mistakes. Wide, pleading eyes focused upon her worried sister, begging her to lower her sword.

Cold. The frozen terrain glistened with starlight that could rival that of the heavens. It was all that he had in his life, what made him thrive to live long, and continue his solitary life ranging the mountain endlessly. He didn't have to worry about anybody else except for his own hide to survive. It was simple, and easy.
Nothing else mattered except making sure you lived to see the light of another day. He didn't have to think about the needs of others or lead pack of dogs who couldn't depend on themselves. It was just easier to be alone; you didn't have to care about the feelings of others. He could have easily just ignored the girl's presence altogether with just a turn of the head, and walked away back on his path into the ruins. He could have just continued minding his own business... but that would be a chance of story now, wouldn't it?
Watching as the girl's eyes fluttered open gave Grey the idea that she was alive, and just fine. Her scent was strange, picking up the faint fragrance of faraway lands on her being, of the southern forests. What was a forest dweller from the south doing here in the middle of the frozen thundra? It was not in his nature to ask such questions. He nodded his head softly when she thanked him for waking her up. "You don't need to thank me. Just leave this place," he said cooly.
His moonlight yellow eyes widened suddenly when he felt a sword plung straight into his shoulder. He tensed up slightly moving as quickly as he could, getting the blade out of his skin, leaving behind a shallow wound from dodging too late. Splotches of blood began to stain his once snow white robes as he realized the sting of the blade's cut. It was but a shallow wound, but he could not let it go unavenged. He was caught off guard, which provoked his eyebrows to furrow down, his expression painted a heated glare to match the girl with fiery hair and eyes. Her threats fell on deaf ears, but he acknowledged her challenge. His clawed hand reaching for his sheathed sword, tempted to take it out, and fight the redhead.
Though it would appear that the girl whom Lír woke up would not have them do battle. Quietly, he stared at the back of her head, watching as she tried to stop the girl with crimson hair from engaging into further hostilities. "Whatever," he brushed them both off. Turning away, he began to walk away, entering the ruins that laid before his eyes. It was so much easier to freeze all of your emotions away. To toss away your cares in the cold barren winds, because caring just brought nothing but trouble.
Caring was but a heavy burden laid on those foolish enough to let it control your heart.

Direct hit! Her firelight eyes flickered with satisfaction at the strike making a hit, but it didn't get far into his skin. He maneuvered out of the worst of the blow getting away with nothing more than a flesh wound. The upper end of her sword was coated in his blood in remembrance of where the sharp edge took a lick of his flesh alas it was all but a taste. The redhead let out a 'tch' sound clicking her tongue against the back of her teeth. He would not get away from the next strike. Aya would make sure it was ingrained in his brain that if he ever messed with her sister than he was as good as dead. She returned the heated glare right back at him.
However her guard was completely thrown off by the high pitched voice of her twin sister's. She flinched when Ani raised her voice higher than it's normal range, and quickly jerked her head back over to her kin. Aya watched with a dumbfounded look graced upon her expression as to why she was defending the man. There she stood in silence slowing quenching the thirst of the flame that burned inside of her out of pure raw rage. She clasped onto her obsidian oval pendant as if it was going to drop like stones into the pit of her stomach. She felt as if she'd swallow stones from her erroneous behavior. She listened with open ears as Ani explained as quickly as she could that the man meant no harm. Firelight eyes returned to gaze upon the man who was faced with temptation's sweet call to beckon him to Aya's challenge. He refused.
She didn't understand. If he meant no ill-will then that meant Aya jumped to conclusions again. Her body tensed as she felt guilt grow on her heavy head as the wind picked up slightly, chilling her body straight to her core. Pulling out of her pocket was a piece of cloth, and began washing off the blood off from her blade. When she finished, she drew her sword away from sight, before returning her attention back over to the two. Her hands balled up into fists, hating to admit her errors, but she knew she was at fault.
"I'm sorry," she said turning her eyes away from them. If anything at least Ani heard her admit to her wrong doings, because as soon as he uttered a word, he left without anything else having to do with the girls. Aya scoffed. Rolling her eyes in disgust, she turned her attention back over to Ani, relief at least she was well. "I was worried about you. Don't wander off like that again, ok?" she said, almost with a motherly tone, "I... wouldn't know what to do if I'd lost you, Ani..."
Taking up to the sky, Aya hovered a few feet above the ground, before looking back down at Ani. A soft smile could be found on her lips happy to know her sister was ok. "There's a cabin at the top of the peak, where you can fly up to. Not at all hard to miss~ I lit a fire in the fireplace there so it should be warm. Let's get out of the cold," she gestured, taking the lead up to the sky, and returning back to the shelter up in the mountains. Aya was growing weary of the chilly winters here. Soon as they get the opportunity, they were leaving this province as soon as possible.

Ani could feel her stomach lurch at the sight of blood, her stomach twisting in a very uncomfortable way. She had been too late to stop her sister from making the first move, but it appeared her sword had only pierced a little ways into the male's shoulder. No vital spot, but the fact that this had been caused by her carelessness made her guilty. Tears stung at her eyes for a moment, and she looked to the stranger with worry and concern. Would he be alright? Would he attack her sister? He had every right to do so, but she would not allow any fighting to take place. As he reached for his own sword to retaliate, he suddenly decided not to. Ani felt relief blossom within her, but it soon doused as he walked away with a coldness in his eyes. She certainly could not blame him, but his shoulder was still injured! The cold would not doubt slow the blood loss, but leaving it without treatment was an invite for infection! The first thing she had to do was converse with her twin, since she had been reckless in her manners once again. [Ani was not too mad, because her heart had been in the right place.]
Ani could sense her twin's growing guilt, and she watched as she began to clean the crimson from her blade. Seeing his blood had her stomach twisting again, and her own guilt came crashing back upon her. Oh, why had she not just stayed by her sister's side? Being independent had never worked out well for her in the least. Aya's apology had a gentle smile forming upon her lips, forgiving her sister for her mistake instantly. "It's okay, Aya. I'm at fault for wandering off," she admitted, glancing downward in disappointment at herself. She just had to apologize to the silver-haired male, and make things right. Even if he appeared as cold as these snows, he had taken the time to wake her from a potential icy death. He simply could have just walked away, but he had not. That had to mean something! "I promise not to do so again," she agreed readily. Yes, no more wandering off without voicing her intentions first! She did not wish to leave Aya in such a worried state ever again, nor to cause any trouble for someone she did not know. Carmine eyes watched as her twin began to hover upon the air, having put away her sword.
"I'll meet you there in a little while, Aya. I won't take long, so go ahead," she urged with a small smile. Ani watched as her sister disappeared from her sight, and she would be sure to look for a firelight and cabin to retreat to. Once that was done with, she quickly turned back toward the ruins. He could not have gotten too far! His footsteps were still fresh, and the young woman hastily stumbled through the snow to catch up with him. A few moments later she caught a flash of silver, and the coppery scent of blood in the air. "P-please, wait!" she called out, hoping that he would at least stop for her. Ani did not deserve his attention at all, but she was determined to make up for Aya's hasty actions. Stopping herself before she collided into his much taller frame, she moved to stand in front of him with a shy determination. Her pale hands began to glow a gentle white, and so she raised onto her tiptoes to rest her hand upon his injured shoulder light, healing the wound.
"I-I am so sorry about your wound. I hope this makes amends."

Solitude. Sweet solitude – a lady who knew her company was more than welcomed to the silver haired young man. Loneliness never gave him back talk, no baggage or complications compared the company he stumbled upon. Outsiders were nothing more than trouble, arrogant vermin, who think that the land is theirs for the taking. Free to walk the earth with vain pride that their the superior species of one another. A realm ruled by many rulers, small or large, but nonetheless a world consisting of many creatures all around.
The girl with the blade stained with his blood disappeared from sight, and any further trace of her scent. The other one, however, did not follow behind with her kin. His acute hearing picked up the sound of footsteps following his tracks. Upon hearing her voice call out to him, he paused his casual stroll, placing his foot down so that all of his weight was balanced on both of his legs. Moonlit yellow eyes stared at the girl's sudden approach, taking notice of the white light illuminating from her hands, and placing them on his injured shoulder. "A fairy," he stated in a stoic tone. The girl with red hair also adorned fairy like qualities now that he thought about it.
Silently he watched as the girl's powers took affect as the wound began to close up bit by bit. The only thing left in remembrance of the wound was nothing more than the bloodstains that tarnished his once white robes. "That was a bit unnecessary, but you have my gratitude," he said as the white magic finished completely healing over his wound. Not many dared to approach Grey for the sheer fact that he didn't seem approachable. Wolves all around in the north cared little of his presence, and he returned the mutual feelings.
Everyone since the day he was born was a natural enemy. It came as second nature – an instinct of sorts – to think nothing but the worst of his enemies. His cold stare not once since the moment he faced her changed – save for the moments when he blinked his eyelids. Programmed in the back of his mind was a voice telling him to take down those who stood against.
Now he was faced with a being although timid in nature carried with her a determination that most people did not show towards him. Someone who went out of her way despite the cold, and the accident that occurred not so long ago. That or she was one foolish fairy. "You will get yourself killed here. Why do you insist of staying?" he asked - no - demanded out of the girl. Grey was not one to beat around the bush, and it was a bit of a puzzlement as to why such a gentle creature would prolong her stay in a terrain that would in the end take her life.

Ani peered up at the male with a timid smile in place, and she nodded in agreement to his statement. As far as she knew, none of the other races had innate healing abilities like that of a fairy. Honestly, she owed him that much, and at least he had allowed her to heal his wound. It was shallow, but seeing the stained fabric of his white haori intensified her guilt. It was such an intricate and rather lovely piece, and blood was so hard to get out. Torn and bloody, but she certainly could not ask him to remove his shirt! It was quite cold, and that was far too brazen of a question to voice. Pale cheeks flushed at the inappropriate thought, and she bowed her head to hide her blush. Now was not the time to act like this! Oh, she most likely appeared even more foolish than before, and she almost wished he had not find her in the snows. He would not have become injured, and would not have to deal with her timid demeanor. He had saved her, and she owed him for that. Perhaps there was something else she would be able to do for him?
"N-no, I was happy to help in any way. I-it's my fault this happened in the first place," she explained, guilt flashing through her carmine eyes. She was unsure whether her stutter was from the cold, or from his very male presence. A combination of both, since Ani had always been so shy in front of men. She leaned a little more close to inspect her handiwork, pleased to see that the skin had closed completely, leaving no sign of the previous injury. A brief surge of pride filled her, but it quickly disappeared. Now was not the time to feel happy with herself over something that had been caused over her. Glancing back up at him with carmine eyes, she nearly flinched at the cold look he still held. Yes, she was able to garner that he was a rather aloof individual, but she wondered why he did not show any emotion. Again it was not a question that was her place to ask. The silence had the young woman nearly fidgeting, wondering if she should leave now.
Her eyes widened, and she blinked owlishly for a moment at his sudden question. Well, it had sounded like a question, but his tone had an authoritative demand. For a moment, annoyance flickered through her heart, but she hoped she had not shown it. Ani looked past him to the snowy tundra that surrounded the both of them. Despite the very real danger of death, she could not deny how beautiful it was here. "I have never seen snow before, so I wanted to experience what it was like. Beautiful things often hold danger," she answered, glancing at him with a slight smile. It was an off-handed compliment to him, since he was a very attractive Minish. Oh, had she just flirted with him? Her cheeks flushed a cherry red, and Ani began a mental backtrack, not wanting to offend him. "I-I mean the snow. T-the cold is a bit hard to get used to, b-but I like to watch it fall. The sights here a-are wonderful, too!" she rambled. Realizing she was most likely annoying him with her senseless rabble, Ani closed her mouth.
Why was she so hopeless?

A strain of the lack of confidence could be found within her guilt strickened carmine eyes. He knew nothing of fairies, or their behavior so given that this girl was all that he had to work off of, it wasn't very impressing. A nervous wreck, but a kind hearted fool who'd take a risk in extreme measures to satisfy her unrelenting turmoil. It was quite selfish in it's own way, but who in their right mind in this wide realm, did not have selfish intents? It was all a matter of perspectives, he supposed, but it meant that he would no longer find solace in isolation anymore. The cowardly woman fled the moment Ani insisted on staying with him - healing his wound out of the goodness of her heart. How cliche.
Quietly he listened. Once again, he noticed the guilt lighting up in her eyes, but what got him curious was the sheer fact that she was shivering. Was she really that inconsiderate of her own well-being to make sure that another was secured? She didn't seem like the type to approach anybody or at least not on her own. Though there was something else that made her actions rather admirable rather than annoying. Even if she was meek and timid, she held benevolence that probably came naturally from her heritiage. It showed for a quick second when she expressed her proud work on patching his shoulder up from the incident that caused it. Then she returned back to her same old insecure demeanor.
As she explained her reason in being here he merely nodded his head. A traveler with an insatiable wanderlust to see what hasn't been seen before. An adventurer who'd take the chance of risking the dangers to exploit the beauties of their rewards. Another admirable trait if only it wasn't so common amongst mortals in these times. Yes, the harsh thundra was a brutal place, but it was also his home. A world covered in silver, and crystals too precious to touch, filled with open skies so blue (or at times covered in gray) and at night, flooded with stars on an ebony viel.
Though his thoughts were quickly pushed to the side the second he heard an echo across the desolate ruins. They were not alone. The echoes were quickly changed to howls that were calling out to the winter moon. Wolves. Not just any wolves either, monsterous White Wolfos, scrounging through the debris in search for a meal. His yellow eyes narrowed as he dissolved what space there was between Ani and himself. "If you value you're life, be still, and quiet," he warned, masking their presence as much as he could, but he could still feel her small frame against him. She felt of ice itself, it almost splashed a tinge of pity in his cold heart. Surely enough, the white Wolfos came sauntering in just as he predicted, their hungry growls the only thing that could be heard amidst the ruins. |

Ani really did wish she could be more confident in herself like her twin was. One would expect her to with all the praise she had received as a child, but she had tried to never allow it to go to her head. Vanity was such a prideful trait that only lead to trouble, but being happy with herself could not hurt. There was no harm in thinking highly of herself, and not to the point of seeming arrogant. The young fairy could only guess what he thought of her, and she realized she had never properly introduced herself. [When had she been given the right moment?] Him waking her, her sister injuring her, said sister leaving, and now her healing him. At least he had not left the moment his wound was healed, right? That had to mean he cared at least a small degree. No, she had not really seen any concern at all, but she believed his aloof demeanor was more of a shield than anything. A way of behaving that he had used for quite a long time, much like her shyness and timid behavior. Perhaps this visit to Snowpeak had not been so disastrous after all! Her sister and herself had met the Lord of the Oocca, and she had become acquainted with the Minish before her.
Ani tried to huddle more securely beneath her cloak, but it appeared the fabric was still damp from her stumbling in the snow, and her brief nap. Should she depart and find her sister? No doubt he was becoming annoyed with her by now, though he certainly showed no signs. Her ramblings were met with a quiet ear, and she worried he was tuning her out. Honestly, Ani would not blame him, since she often rambled when she felt flustered and nervous. Being around males did that to her, especially those that were so beautiful. A feminine adjective to use, but it fit him much more accurately than handsome. Really, never had she encountered someone that appeared to have walked right out of a portrait. [Or a fairytale.] The silence was becoming a little stifling, but Ani dared not to break it. A sense of foreboding had overtaken her, and she glanced to the side, silver hair shifting with the sudden movement. Was that howling? What form of creature had stumbled upon them on this cold night? Fear blossomed within her heart, but she was resolved to keep a clear mind, because thinking logically was an absolute must in danger.
The howls became louder, closing the distance surrounding herself and him. She held her breath for a moment, her heart beating more quickly against her chest. She had been warned of the White Wolfos that prowled Snowpeak by other adventurers when herself and Aya had stopped for directions and advice. Carmine eyes glanced up at the silver-haired male, expression startled as she suddenly felt arms go around her. Her voice escaped her, any form of protest leaving her as golden eyes peered down at her quite sternly. [Not that she felt the urge to really object.] Ani felt herself pressed against his much larger frame, which was warmer than her cold one. His warning certainly did not go unheeded, and she stayed still and quiet against him. Unless the Wolfos could hear her very quiet breaths, and she was quite grateful he was taking to protecting her from this new threat. Did he have a plan? Ani dared not to voice her question, trying to not make a noise at all. Even with the present danger, a blush could not be stopped from flushing her cool cheeks.

He was thrown away by his own parents, left to be raised by a she-wolf, who lost her pup, and adopted the abandoned Minish as her own. He understood that they weren't family by blood, but she was the only one who gave him answers to his life. Being thrown away by your own parents, and left to die in the cold sure did a number on your mentality over the years. He didn't know how to bring his guard down. Though growing up under the care of the she-wolf, he learned that life was but a gamble, a risk to take on every possible turn. Survival was essential, and if you couldn't take care of yourself, you didn't live long enough to see the next day. She cared for him, and thus she remains the only one in his life that understands his will. It has been quite some time since he's seen his surrogate mother, and while it was on his thoughts, he intended to visit her one day.
With Ani wrapped within his arms, he it was then that he noticed the moisture that clung onto her clothes, hence why she felt like ice. She may not have been aware but she was slowly, but with no doubt, going through the initiate steps of hypothermia. His golden eyes narrowed as he peered out of the corner of his eye at the sight of the pack of White Wolfos trying to sniff out any trace of meat they can sink their desperate fangs into. As much as he'd like to take them out personally, he had a liability on him, and it would appear unseemly of him to watch her get eaten up by a bunch of beasts.
Then something came into his vision. Moonlight pouring out from an opening up in the ceiling. His golden hues looked up and found a massive hole plunged into the roof allowing the moonlight to rain down like the soft snow that glistened slowly down to the frozen earth. "Don't let go," he stated in a hasty manner. In one fluent motion, he scooped up the petite fairy in his arms, and dashed up towards the silver light. Climbing up the stairs until there was no more to cross, he used the very last step to leverage his weight up, and jumped as high as he could until he came out onto the rooftops of the ruins.
Beneath him were barking Wolfos angry of having potential prey fall out of their grasp. It was then that he turned his attention back over to his chilled company, and placed her down, letting her feet slide onto the surface so that she may stand up on her own. "You should head back," he stated calmly, "Your kin would be worried if you prolonged." Lír had no right to keep her there, but she was free to do as she wished. All he brought was threats, and danger that she did not deserve. A gentle soul with a caring heart had no place for a beast who nothing but to survive, and save his own skin. Still, it wasn't until then that he realized how she shared the same color of the winter moon... the same color he's been with all of his life. |

Ani had never been alone in her life, but she had felt alone nonetheless. Her parents constantly praised her as someone she was not, and with eight elder sisters that were so absorbed within their own beauty and grace to think of the bigger picture life held. Only Aya had been her constant companion, and she had always done the best she could to give her twin the acceptance she sought. Praise from their parents, being individual from their identical sisters, and being acknowledged. Ani had always given so much, and she had never asked for anything in return. Family was meant to sacrifice for each other, but her own wants and wishes had never been thought of too clearly. Her life was far from bad off, and she was grateful for Aya. Truly, she never could have been paired with a better sister, but it was already to yearn for more, no? She tried to focus her thoughts on the more pressing matter at hand, and she shivered within his hold as more howls sounded. The Wolfos must be quite close, as all she could see was the pristine fabric of his shirt. Perhaps it was better that she could see view the violent wolves.
Carmine eyes flickered upward, watching as he was looking upward with a calculating eye. Above them was a hole in the ceiling, moonlight pouring through. Ani would have admired the lovely sight, but now was certainly not the time to do so. The growling was coming closer, and she sincerely hoped the male holding her had a plan. She would fight if she had to, but she feared she would become more of a hindrance than a help. Her eyes widen, barely registering his words when he suddenly swung her into his arms, and so she wrapped her arms around his neck to hold on. Ani clung to him as he ran up the stairs, squeaking in surprise as he suddenly vaulted from the last step. Her heart was beating so quickly, and it was definitely not the right time to think about how nice it felt to be held like this. The growling wolves beneath them answered that question. Certainly not the time at all! Were they safe yet? He had landed upon the rooftop of the ruins, safe from the disappointed Wolfos below. Quite a relief, and she hoped her heart would soon stop pounding within her chest.
Ani shivered lightly within his arms, but silently stood upon her own feet as he set her down. The chilled air and the fear she should have felt were beginning to come down upon her. Carmine eyes peered up at him, blinking as he suggested that she should go and find Aya. Part of her wished to, but what about him? There were Wolfos below, and she certainly did not wish to leave him alone. For some reason, she believed that maybe he did want some company, even if he never acknowledged such a want. "I-it's alright. M-my sister will w-wait for me, a-and I n-never learned your n-name," she stammered, the cold being the main factor of her stutter this time. Even through her shiver, she smiled gently at the older male, gratitude shining in her eyes for his noble actions. "I-I'm Ani."

Thinking about on his encounter with his pack of Minish, and the way they ran on a man who was shamefully defeated by the abandoned son. He was quite ashamed of what his family was like, following obediently like whipped dogs, with their tails in between their legs. There was no respect he could shed for the couple, and allowed them to live out the rest of their pitiful life being ran by their abstract code. He needn't worry himself of matters with them anymore.
He breathed in the brisk chilly air, and exhaled heated breath through his nostrils. His moonlight eyes returned back to the girl who was shivering cold. It was quite a pity to have her in such a condition, but there would be no shelter returning back to the surface. They were safe on the roof as he heard the pleasant sound of disappointed growls coming from beneath. Let them bark for they would not receive a single bite from either of them tonight. His attention was quickly returned back to Ani.
"If that is what you wish then so be it." With a small sigh, he uncoiled his long, fluffy tail, and placed it around her shoulders. He pressed the girl closely to him, for the sake of warming her up, so she wouldn't freeze to death. He didn't have any quarrels with having the girl in his company. She was not as troublesome as her kin had been - he was still a bit irritated with that, but it quickly blew away from his mind. His elongated silver locks flowing softly like a stream running beneath the pale moon. Pure like the color of the blanket that coated around the shivering girl.
"Lír Grey," he answered.

At least they were now safe from any danger from wild Wolfos, and perhaps any other creatures that wandered Snowpeak at night. What a night it had been so far, and part of her wished to laugh nervously at it all. Part of her still felt rather badly for being the cause of him becoming injured. Why bring it up, since he appeared to have gotten over the incident. There were more pressing matters at hand, because Ani was wondering how long they would be on the roof of these ruins. Would the Wolfos lose interest, or linger near in wait for a lapse in guard. Predators so rarely ever gave up upon prey once found, especially in these cold conditions. Food was no doubt hard to come by, and she was prime prey with her beginning to succumb to the cold. Ani knew that her shivering was her slow way of falling into hypothermia, as her limbs were even beginning to feel rather heavy and numb. The cold was no longer felt upon her cheeks, and the sting of the snowy wind had been replaced by the tingling numbness. Not good in the least, and she sincerely hoped she could last for a little while longer. Honestly, Ani was far too weak to even attempt flying at this point, and she felt that urge to fall asleep again.
The young woman swayed upon her feet, and she worried that she would topple over the roof if she did not sit. Lowering herself onto the cold stone, she tucked her legs against her chest, wishing that her cloak was dry. Carmine eyes flickered back to the Minish, watching as he sat down beside her. Her eyes widened a fraction at his words, and then his actions in an attempt to keep her warm. She watched as he unraveled the beautiful, ivory tail coiled around his shoulder. What was he going to do with it? A heavy, comfortable warmth soon was wrapped around her delicate shoulders, and her slim frame being held against his side. Well, Ani could not feel the cold against her cheeks, but she was soon feeling the blood rush to them. Her heart stuttered within her chest, and she could not find any words to express gratitude for his actions. Part of her wanted to pull away in embarrassment, but the part of her that was freezing wanted to snuggle more closely against him. Her cold limbs began to slowly thaw at the warmth his tail radiated, and Ani did not desire to refuse his offered comfort.
Ani leaned against him, blushing brightly as she did so. Her body still felt cold, and she wished to absorb the warmth he exuded. While that certainly was welcome, her mind was ablaze with sensations she had never experienced. Never had a male held her like this before, and she tried to convince herself it was merely out of the necessity to keep her from freezing. Ani did find herself rather mesmerized by watching his silver hair flutter behind him. His hair was the color of pale moonlight, and it streamed down his back in shining waves. Ani blinked, almost not catching his name at all. Her red eyes flickered up to Lír, his name upon her lips. Smiling gently at him, she realized that she did not mind being against him like this at all. "Thank you, Lír," she replied quietly.

Lír was plenty of warm for himself, and the fluff he carried on him was thick, but soft at the same time. A comforter of sorts when he grew weary, and needed rest. It wasn't like him to share with others, but then again he had no issues with helping a frail flower like her out. Then again, it was an anomaly for him to even show any form of compassion, but perhaps it was the strain of isolation that made him crave the attention.
Years of it would probably do that to a poor person. At first he was oppressive of such a concept, but she defended him, and even went out of her way to heal his injuries. Never before did he experience the lengths one may go in order to provide any form of kindness. They weren't kidding with the whole saying a little kindness went for miles. It had been nothing more than a concept to him, fabricated by the process of needing another in their life, to socialize away the loneliness. To get that satisfaction one got from receiving long wanted attention.
He nodded his head at her gratitude. Most would find this ordeal strange, and truth be told, Grey couldn't help but admit to that fact as well. Though in their place, and circumstances, there was no room for oddities when it came to naturally survive in extreme weather. The lunar snow wolf found himself content in his position knowing that so long as they were up there nothing could come their way. It would only be a matter of time before the pride of the pack burns with frustration, and leave to look for easier prey. They were the kind of dogs that would so much. Only because they were not like the beasts of the snow, only sorry existence that invade the pure white lands, nothing more than pests who feed off the livestock of the natural born denizens. "Where do you hail?" he asked, ridding of the silence that came between them.
It would also help ease the girl's tensed frame to put her mind elsewhere. Or at least, he thought it would be an effective solution. He wasn't good at starting conversations - let alone keeping them longer than five minutes. For the longest time he felt it unnecessary, but now more than ever seemed appropriate to try to help the girl out. If only to return the favor of putting her through such troubles. It would seem the two of them were nothing more than a magnet for trouble wherever they went. |

Ani was beginning to feel quite content with her new situation. Yes, there were wolfos prowling and whining below them, and it was quite cold, but she had company with her. It was much different than that of her sister, and she found that she rather enjoyed it. Much of her like had been spent by Aya's side, so this was new for her. Many did not find her shy mannerisms all that appealing, and so would rather converse with her more lively sibling. Ani could not blame anyone for that, since it was rather cumbersome to try and get through her stuttered words to get to know her. His kindness was certainly not lost upon her, and she felt herself becoming much more comfortable within his presence. It merely took a little time for her to open up to someone, but not many felt the patience to merely wait and see. Being next to him was quite comforting, and Ani would not mind staying this way for the rest of the night.
The warmth he exuded was certainly easing away the tenseness of her body, and she moved herself closer against him. Ani still blushed at the contact, and she tried to excuse it in her mind as having the numbness of her limbs leave her. The cold had nearly sent her into an icy slumber, and now she felt sleepy from the warmth his tail gave, and being pressed against his side. A slightly intimate position in her mind, and she truly was grateful for the kindness he was returning to her. Honestly, she did not believe she deserved it after causing him to become injured, but perhaps her karma was decent for once. Lír was much kinder than his aloof personality depicted, but she would certainly not say that thought aloud. Carmine eyes flickered up to him, surprised that it had been him to break the silence between them. Smiling sweetly, she thought about his question for a moment.
"I come from the Sacred Grove, which is hidden away in the Faron Woods. It's quite far south from here, and the weather is much more mild compare to here," she explained lightly. Her stutter had disappeared, as she was no longer cold or shy. Ani had ventured quite far to come here, and she marveled at that fact. Her sister had been so adamant about seeing Hyrule, and she was quite glad she had been determined to come along. There was so much more outside of the Sacred Grove, and so many interesting people to meet. This had certainly not been her idea of an adventure, but she was not regretful of being in this situation in the least. Should she ask him something back? The young fairy did not feel any wish to pry into his past. "You have really lovely hair," she said without thinking. Ani froze, wondering if she had truly voiced such a thing. Her cheeks flushed in mortification, and she buried her face in the fur of his tail, wondering why she had said that. Was she truly that hopeless?

Never in his mind did it ever come to him that he had compassion in him. All he knew was the diamond in the sky, and the snow beneath his feet. He felt no need to stray from his home, but travel it to see the rest of it's beauty. He knew nothing of whether or not someone was too shy or outgoing in front of others. How could you bother when you've only had the animals of the tundra to socialize with? Yeah, like he was going to be conversing with the trees, and they'll tell him old stories on how the mountain was once a lush green valley until - wait; where was this story going? Absolutely nowhere. Exactly how their situation was going to be for the time being.
He did no doubt acknowledge the fact that she was acting a bit more composed. Time was a good friend on their side, and it would seem it helped eased her into being more natural, and honest with herself. His golden eyes lit up at that curious factor. Her shy demeanor was quite a troublesome habit that could most likely pull people away from her. Society, no doubt, was built on the foundation on communicating with the mass audience of their peers. To share ideals, and become friends, enemies, acquaintances or even business partners in the long run. Yes, Grey contemplated on such structures of society when he thought about his own pack of wolves. A closed net of Minish pride who only preserved their numbers for the consistency of one alpha male. Everyone else just followed along for the sake of survival.
Finally, a full sentence without her stuttering. It was almost... cute. This said a lot because the wolf Minish didn't not find many things cute. Puppies? No. Children? Would rather sit in the middle of a pack of white wolfos than to be anywhere near them. It was then that he contemplated the meaning behind her words. Sacred Grove? Yes, he's heard of such place, and Ani spoke the truth when he imagined it would be quite mild in climate. "I've never found reason to leave," he said listlessly, "but perhaps there is much more to see out there than on Snow Peak."
His eyebrow arched up as she made an random comment. Lovely hair? That was quite a strange compliment to give a guy. Then again you had to take into consideration that having a an effeminate face did give you euphonious adjectives than masculine. He was quite sure to be offended or felt proud of it. Either way, her blush came back onto her cheeks, which placed the smallest glint of a smile on his mouth. The tips of his canine fangs appearing as this rare trait came out of him. "Ani, show me your face," he cooed, his claw hand calmly reaching out, and placed upon her head buried within his tail. He gentled gave her the softest hint of a tug to bring her head back up, so that his golden eyes could look into hers. "Be honest with yourself, and don't be shy to say what you want to say," he spoke calmly. |

Why did she always have to ruin something with her insipid comments? Ani wished she had just let the silence continue, because it had certainly not been a bad thing. At times silence was the best thing to revel in, and she just had to open her mouth without thought. Should she have left when he suggested? Ani felt her heart lurch at the thought, and her emotions became a turmoil of embarrassment and confusion. Calling his hair such a feminine adjective, when he was certainly not feminine in the least. Sure, Lír had a beauty that was rather ethereal, but not feminine in a way to be confused with mistaking his gender. Was it too late to throw herself to the Wolfos? Of course she would never really do such a thing, but it was a tempting fate to save her from her embarrassment. Had she insulted him? Ani would not blame him if he was glaring at her right now, or ready to leave her with the cold and keep his warmth to himself. Why was she so utterly hopeless at socializing? Her jumbled thoughts were not helping her in any way, and she did not have the courage to look up and see what damage her words had done. What if he was annoyed and angered with her?
Her form tensed as he uttered her name, and for some reason the way he spoke it had her blushing even more darkly. Was it possible for a voice to even sound that heavenly? Mentally slapping herself, Ani did not fight Lír as he tugged her head up to look at him. Wide carmine eyes stared up at him, at a loss of words to say anything. He certainly did not appear angry, and she noticed the very slight upturn of his lips, and the glint of his canines. Ani was a very introverted, and being this close to a male was already having her run haywire. She was close enough to the darker amber flecks within his golden irises, and the urge to laugh nervously was pressing upon her. Why had she hidden her face again? Oh, yes, her insipid comment, and her going mute at the sound of his voice saying her name like that. Was it too late for her to hide away again? Throwing herself to the wolves was sounding more appealing by the moment.
His words were sincere, but they still wrought strange emotions upon her. Swallowing nervously, Ani continued to stare at him with wide and innocent eyes. Do not be shy? That was certainly easier said than done, since she had always been a quiet spirit. Being outgoing and confident was just not in her nature, but even quiet people could voice their concerns with self-confidence. "Y-your eyes are a darker gold around the center than the outer edge," she stuttered, completely wondering why she even was speaking. Why could she not say anything right? Ani had been reduced back into a stuttering mess by his presence. [Not that it was bad.] It had nothing to do with shyness this time, and more with being unsure of herself. And the fact she kept making the most random comments that left her mortified. Wide carmine eyes looked up at him, swirling with confusion and hesitancy.
