Despite what's been said about the Faron Woods, Alistair found it quite relaxing. Sure, there was the occasional monster, but usually nothing he couldn't take. He walked at a relatively slow pace, sometimes stopping to take in the scenery. Soon enough, the blond warrior grew weary, so he promptly sat down in the grass and rested his back against a tree trunk. He was glad he hadn't brought his cloak with him today; the weather here was almost too perfect. Would some other traveler come by and share the experience with him? Would a forest local visit? Would he get attacked by a group of monsters? All this and more on the next Avid Ball Z! Only time can tell...

Voletta snapped her head to the side. She felt someone nearby. No, it wasn't a fairy or a monster. It was a person. This is quite rare. Hadn't he or she heard about all the nasty rumors? Nevertheless, even if they crossed paths, she would be safe on the thick tree branch she lay on. Surely, the stranger couldn't reach her at this height.
Even so, Voletta would have to come down eventually. She does have an adventure to start, after all. Yawning, she stretched her arms out into the air, accidentally dropping the book next to her while putting her hand back down. It caused a loud thump that echoed throughout the forest, causing many of the birds around to fly to the skies and nearby small monsters to scamper off. Voletta cursed under her breath, not wanting to attract the stranger, or any sort of threat, really.

Slowly but surely, Alistair closed his eyes. He wasn't going to go to sleep, even he knew the dangers that could come with that, he was just momentarily resting. But, everything must come to an end sooner or later, and unfortunately for him, it was sooner. Just as he achieved an almost zen-like state, the strangest noise caught his attention.
Thud!
He lazily opened one eye before scratching his head and climbing to his feet. He had to investigate the sound, right? What if it was a maiden in distress?! How a thud could possibly end up being a pretty girl in trouble, he would never know. But that was trivial now! He rubbed his eyes and began searching for the source of the sound. Soon enough, he found something. Was it a beautiful girl? Not exactly. Well, not at all, really. It was a book. Just a book on the ground. The boy sighed before hunching over and examining it.

Voletta looked around, waiting for something to come. She spotted group monsters, appearing rather irritated and hungry. They were a bit taller than 3 feet, in a pack of 6 or more. She sighed. Surely, her book would be either be left alone or ravaged. As she was about to jump down and collect her book, she spotted someone in the corner of her eye. A boy, blond haired, and much taller than she. Voletta looked a bit closer. Is that a sword on his back? He could be of assistance. But then again, she wouldn't want to be the blame for injury. Great, she had both of the things she didn't want to happen, happen. She watched as the boy examined the book, before jumping down in front of him.
You should probably leave. They're going to attack you if you stay much longer.
Voletta picked up the book, wobbling a bit as she tried to slip her arms through the straps. This is one of those times she wonders why she made her book so thick and heavy.

It seemed like a rather large book, most likely being the source of the noise. At least, that's what Alistair thought. The size of the book only added to the surprise of the girl landing in front of him. He hadn't met many Kokiri in his travels, but even he could tell that she was little, even by their standards. That made him wonder- how could someone that size be the owner of a book that size? He was about to ask, but then the girl spoke up.
"They're going to attack me?" He asked nonchalantly. He was a little suspicious of the situation, to be honest. A strange little girl with an enormous book talking about strange assailants? Not exactly a normal situation. But then she awkwardly donned the book as a backpack, which made Alistair forget about the suspicious situation and just laugh.

He was laughing. The boy was laughing. Is the situation that silly, or was it just her? Voletta became very self conscious at that moment, putting down the book, but still keeping her hand on it. She looked at her apparel. Was something wrong with her outfit? Maybe it was the red. Yes, certainly it is the red, since most kokiri wear green. But then again, that boy is wearing a bit of red himself.
Before she could come up with a definite answer, a black fluff jumped towards the boy from the behind, taking him as some sort of threat. Voletta quickly picked up the book and whacked the enemy, causing it to dissipate.
Oh...They're only a few Black Boes... I guess that's okay.

Alistair watched as the events unfolded around him. First, the girl quickly checked herself. Then, something jumped at him. And then, before he had time to react, the girl smacked the enemy with her book. It was a strange thing to see, especially in such a short amount of time, but he decided to just accept it.
"Man, you sure know how to work that book." He laughed lightly again. He stretched backwards and cracked his back before continuing. "I'm not even sure if you need any help with this. You look like you can handle yourself pretty well against these things. But what kind of person would I be if I made a little girl defend herself while I idly stood by?" He gripped the hilt of his sword and drew it carefully, shifting his position so he was standing next to the girl.

You don't need to try hard to kill these things. In my case, I have a very large, heavy book. I try hard enough lifting the thing.
Voletta turned to the closest approaching Boes, slowly lifting the book up. Right when they were about to jump, she swung the large tome down, causing the monsters to explode into a cloud of dust. She coughed heavily, patting her cape of the excess particles. She put on a tired expression, before putting her book down. She could never get used to fighting the dastard things.

Alistair watched as a group of Boes came and were quickly dispatched by the girl. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw what appeared to be something moving through the brush. He was prepared for a fun fight with a few Boes, possibly making a new friend along the way. And then the Wolfos jumped out from the bush, claws aimed at the girl. What a downer. As quickly as he could, Alistair tackled the beast to the side before any damage could be done. He quickly rolled to his feet and held his sword tightly, staring down the monster. "I don't think he likes you taking out his friends." He said, panting slightly.

The mob of Boes were getting bigger. Instead of killing them few at a time, she started to dodge them, with the occasional scrape of the leg. Voletta contemplated her options. There were many to choose from, but she didn't want to leave the boy alone with the wolfos, leaving her with the only two she could think of at the moment. To persuade him to fight, or tell him to run. She took the ladder.
Hey...I think you should run...We're causing...a bit of a...commotion...
Voletta spoke in a very lagged manner, panting from all this skipping around. She glanced towards the Wolfos. It's eyes were filled will blood lust and rage. There's no way it was that angry after killing a few Boes. Maybe it was hungry. Even so, Voletta was short on meat, being a vegetarian. What a mess of a situation.

Alistair looked over to the girl, who seemed to be having a hard time. Before the Wolfos got up, the boy dispatched of as many Boes as he could before returning his attention to Voletta. "Listen, I got this. You go hide somewhere safe and I'll get you when it's all ov-" He was cut off by the Wolfos, who managed to jump up and attack him, leaving a nasty gash on Alistair's arm. A muffled grunt of anguish escaped him as he gripped his blade and readied himself for the fight.
Almost before he could react, the beast swung his other claw, aiming it at Alistair's neck. This time he was able to counter, holding his sword with both hands, he brought the blade upwards and deflected the Wolfos's strike. He managed, to evade the attack, but at a price- the force of the blow sent Alistair's sword flying out of his hands and a good distance away from him.

Voletta sighed. How troublesome. If she hid, what would happen to the boy? If she hid in the tree, she'd see it all go down. In fact, how did she even get in- Oh for geez sake, why didn't she think of this earlier? Voletta snapped, causing a 5 weeds that surrounded the wolfos to grow. In a matter of seconds, the weeds have enlarged to massive vines, entangling the monster for a time. Voletta then turned towards the wolf and ran, whacking all away the all the puffs of black in her path. She jumped, raising her book up into the air, before letting it fall back down - only to collide with the wolf's head. The weight of the book forced the wolf to collapse, but not die. No, it was only playing dead. For sure.
Voletta pointed her right hand at the boy, the other resting on the book. The boy began to develop a faint glow, the girl trying to heal him for the time being. She was heavily panting, tired from...Well, simply everything that happened in the short time. To think this was all caused because she dropped her book. She'll have to be more careful next time.

Again, the girl had made Alistair stop and think about what was happening. She was full of surprises, that's for sure. Before he knew it the gash on his arm was slowly healing, along with the minor scrapes he got from the Boes. Feeling rejuvenated, he let out a sigh of relief.
"You did good, kid, now go hide for a bit. You look worn out. I should hopefully be able to handle it from here on out now that I'm up and running again." When he finished his sentence, he realized that his sword was too far away to safely retrieve while the battle was still going. Without his main weapon, he merely began running through the Boes, kicking groups of them like a little kid would kick up leaves in the fall. It was working surprisingly well, actually, causing plumes of black dust to rise everywhere. As he stomped about, he made sure to keep an eye on the momentarily downed Wolfos.

Voletta nodded, lazily dragging herself to the closest tree, along with her book. She turned her head around for a moment, taking a good, long stare at the Wolfos. It had already gotten its self up back on it's feet, gazing directly at the girl. Sighing once more, she lifted her book as high as she could, the tree growing two thick branches to support the large tomb. She climbed onto the makeshift platform, sitting with her legs crossed.
Be careful.

After the Boes had all met their dusty demise, Alistair took a split second to look at Voletta. "Can do." He nonchalantly saluted before jumping in-between her and the now even more enraged Wolfos. He took a second to crouch down, pulling a survival knife from his boot. He twisted it around, holding it firmly in his left hand.
"You and me, puppy." He taunted, causing the Wolfos to charge at him. Instead of evading, Alistair charged as well, an admittedly cocky move on his part. They clashed midair, claws and fur flying every which way. Soon enough, the Wolfos aimed another slash at Alistair's neck, but this time he was prepared. He rolled under the beast's arm and around to it's back, stabbing it directly in the side as he got up. A painful howl erupted from the monster, and it turned to face Alistair. Instead of attacking, however, it slowly limped backwards. The blond boy lowered his weapon. "Go on. Shoo. I didn't hit anything vital, although I should have." He stubbornly grumbled as he sheathed his dagger and went to retrieve his sword. As he sheathed the sword, the Wolfos limped away, making its way back into the depths of the forest.

Voletta stared at the wolf. She jumped down, taking the book along with her. She walked slowly towards the injured wolf, the wolfos glancing back at her. It whimpered, pain overwhelming it's body, along with fear. She sat down, her book next to her. She reached out her hand to pet the monster's head, only to be weakly bitten by the poor thing. She kept a neutral face, pulling her hand out. It wasn't an injury to be too concerned about, but it did hurt. Voletta pulled on the wolf's ear, causing it to whimper even louder.
When she let go, she reached out to pet the shaking creature. It twitched on contact, but soon relaxed into it. She leaned in closer, beginning to wrap her arms around the whimpering wolf. Healing it would be a waste, the wound is too deep. It would take a good amount of time to allow this creature fully recover, and she was an impatient person. She has things to do. Voletta let go of the Wolfos, it's tired gaze resting upon her. She looked towards the boy, beckoning him.
Let me see your arm.

"My... arm?" Alistair looked at his left arm, which seemed perfectly fine. Then he glanced over to his right arm, which... well... wasn't so fine. He hadn't thought about it, or felt the pain from it during the battle due to the rush of adrenaline mixed with Voletta's spell. Now that he realized it was there, it started to sting a little. "Oh, I guess I forgot about it." He said absentmindedly as he held it out to the girl.
He looked to the Wolfos with a slight glare, but at the same time he was a little concerned. The wound didn't look all too serious to him, it's not like he stabbed it with his sword or anything. Just a small dagger, and people and animals alike have survived that. He looked again to his own wound. A small stream of blood had started trickling down it, but it would probably have been much worse if Voletta hadn't used her magic.

Voletta pulled the arm a bit closer, examining it. It was a shallow wound, nothing serious. She started to trace the wound with two fingers, the cut slowly closing. This was most likely very painful for him, but he'll have to bear it. This was the fastest way to heal a cut she knew.
Voletta. Voletta Tabias. You?
She asked, putting down her hood and revealing her face. She untied her necklace, taking the key and unlocking the large book next to her. Flipping through countless pages of Cuneiform and sketches of various places, she slowed down at the medical section, where there were many herbs in between pages. Finally stopping at a certain page, she took out a long strip of cloth and wrapped it around the boy's arm.
I hope you don't flex often.

Alistair stifled a yelp as the wound began closing. "That huuuuuurts!" He whined. Now that he battle was over, he felt much more carefree. He winced again as the wound was treated further, and then focused on the girl.
He managed to smile, despite his arm stinging, and introduce himself. "I'm Alistair Luor, and it's a pleasure to meet you." Voletta seemed like an alright person, so Alistair gradually let his guard down. "I can't flex? That shouldn't be too much of a problem. Then again, I'll probably get in another battle sooner or later, so this thing is bound to reopen a few times. Thanks anyways, though." He laughed before looking at her book. He didn't understand the strange writing, but all he really needed to know is that the book is essentially what started all of this.

Voletta put took out a thin, sharp slice of wood, and cut the bandage. Placing the leftover cloth and makeshift knife back into the page, she closed the book, locking it with her key. She studied the Searcher's key for a few moments, before tying the string tightly around her neck. She turned around, patting the wolf as a good bye. He had a good run. Voletta slipped her arms into the straps of her book, and stood up. The proper way to put on a book.
It'll hurt bunches more than what I just did if you reopen it.
Voletta patted the bandaged wound, before looking down, then up at the Alistair. He wasn't from here. No, not at all. Of course, it should have been obvious, but she didn't notice right away. For the most part, his outfit was a blur the first time she saw Alistair. Voletta focused more on his face at the time, finding that more important than his apparel. He may be an adventurer. Surly, he knows the way out of this forest.
So, what made you come here? Did you think there was a maiden in distress?
As she said this, a smile creeped onto her face. Her? a Maiden? Preposterous. Voletta is no maiden, just a lonesome child that plans of her adventure. Of course, her Lumière et L'obscurité certainly wasn't a maiden either, but she's sure that if it ever somehow became a pretty girl in distress, she'd be a very intelligent and wise woman that knew how to survive most situations.
