"Trust me, I'm aware of that." Alistair cringed at the thought of the wounds he's accidentally reopened. He shifted his position slightly before asking Voletta a question. "So, how does a Kokiri girl like you obtain, and learn, how to use a book like that?" He was honestly intrigued. He's met some strange people in his time, but she seemed like one of the more interesting ones. After he had asked, he kept his gaze on the book, which fascinated him more and more as he examined it further.

Voletta looked towards his face, giving him a long, empty stare. It wasn't intentional, she just tends to do that when she's a bit surprised. On the inside, of course. She never showed too much emotion, even in casual conversations. You see, whenever monsters came near her, Voletta always looked a bit scared, then confused, then excited, and so on. This always caused the confused creature to attack her. To solve this problem, she didn't show an ounce of anything, except a smile here and there.
...I wrote it.
She said rather nonchalantly, hoping he'd understand. Unfortunately, that is most likely not the case. You see, something Voletta doesn't understand is that writing books of such a preposterous size isn't normal. She glaced at the wolfos one last time. It was still breathing, resting a bit. Crouching down once more, she pushed the wolf's side down, checking the wound. It was not as deep as she originally thought. Sure, the wolf survived injury, but this will hurt it's performance by a lot. Oh well. His problem. Standing back up, Voletta readjusted her strap a bit.
Would you like to read some of it?

Alistair was a little surprised when she gave him the reply that she did, but it just caused him to eye the book more curiously. He had a few questions swirling around in his head, it was just a matter of choosing which one to ask first. After a small internal debate, he finally decided.
"Must have taken up a good chunk of your time." He said, making his observations before getting to his questions. "I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the language though. What is it exactly?"

Seven years is more like it.
Voletta chucked, thinking about the fact that she'd only spent four years enjoying her childhood. The rest was fully dedicated to writing the book. Not that she didn't enjoy writing it. There were times where she could imagine the areas as she sketched them, exaggerating the image greatly in her mind. The sketches, however, were amazingly accurate. Her father had a pretty good selection of books, not to mention a rather large one.
The language is Cuneiform. The ancients used it. I do have a large collection of sketches, if you'd like to see those.

Alistair didn't know the exact age of the Kokiri girl, but by the way she reacted he determined that seven years was a pretty good chunk of her life. He thought about it for a second, and he knew that he would never be able to work on something like that for so long-especially if he had to start it as a child.
"Ooooh, sketches~? Lemme see!" He didn't know anything about this Cuneiform stuff, but drawings were a universally understood language. Well, maybe not if you're blind or something, but there were always exceptions. None the less, he eagerly stood beside Voletta, waiting to see her art.

Voletta struggled a bit, her arms shaking as she lifted the book onto her lap. Usually, it wouldn't be much of a problem, but using Cure always made her just a bit weaker than usual. It would go back to normal in time. Untying her necklace once more, she unlocked the book, the first page being an illustration of the Twilight Realm. It looked very polished, the symbols of the realm paid much attention to. In the distance was the silhouette of a large castle, along with many black, rectangle-shaped particles that littered the air. The focal point of the drawing was a wolf, who was breaking apart into the same shapes that littered the air. Right above him was a large, black, digital-patterned portal that seemed to suck the bits that came off the gray wolf.
Here's the only sketch in this book I consider a doodle.

Alistair looked the picture up and down, thinking about what it could be. He found it extremely interesting, studying it so much he almost didn't hear the girl's next statement. How could something this intricate be considered a doodle? It only led him to believe that the book was an almost endless, Book of Sand-esque tome filled with all kinds of information.
Of course, he couldn't read any of the information printed on the pages due to the language, but it was information none the less. At least he could understand the pictures. Okay, he couldn't really understand the pictures, but at least he knew they were pictures. "It's really nice." He finally said. "What other stuff do ya have in there? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

Medical shtuff.
Voletta skimmed through the Cuneiform, reviewing her notes of the world, it's history, and it's culture. A few of the words were a bit smudged and a bit difficult to read, she could easily figure out what it was or meant.
Once they were at the final two hundred pages of the book, a new piece of art was presented, one given as much attention to as the first. It was a drawing of the exact tree she was sitting on a while ago, which was where she slept and kept her papers over the years, which formed into the very book she was skimming through. The details were in place, most still showing on the tree, proving the art was relatively new. Beyond the page were more long paragraphs of Cuneiform, but different types of sketches. Drawings of plants and botany. Stuck in between most of these pages were various types of dried flowers, leaves, and twigs. Near the very back of the book were pages filled with the only Hylian/English/The most well-known language for the damn world you'd see in the thing, which was only a couple pages. Filled in the small amount of pages were procedures of treating a person in certain emergencies, such as burns, large, deep cuts, and a stopped heart. Stuffed in these pages were an absolutely preposterous appearing amount of bandage. However, the very last page was completely empty.
Too bad you can't read any of this.

The book itself was quite impressive. The only thing that could have made it more impressive is the fact that the person who was responsible for maintaining it was a little girl, and she was doing a damn good job. He still couldn't think of himself doing such a thing, no matter how hard he tried. Well, he could, it just didn't suit him very well.
He observed as she flipped through the pages, noting how they seemed to look more recent as she went on. He also looked at all of the items that were crammed in the pages, which let him determine what the content of those pages were about. Soon enough, he looked at the last, blank page. "What's gonna go there? Or, better yet, what will you do once something is there?"

The girl pondered about Alistair's question. What is going to going to be on the page? Well, Voletta would rather not wander about this, since she had better things to do, such as get out of this forest. Of course, she had plenty of time, but getting out of this place comes first. Adventure comes first. Closing the what proved to be the end of the book, she started to put the book back on as a backpack.
It'll be filled when the time comes. And when it's full, I'll write another book.

Alistair listened to the girl's rather ... simple response. "Then I'll have to make sure you get a personal library; there's no way you'll be able to efficiently carry two of those things around." He laughed a bit, the idea of Voletta swinging around two books in his mind. He pushed a stray hair from his peripherals before continuing. "Then again, it would be a pretty fun sight."
After he finished, he began thinking. "Wait... Are you leaving the forest already?" The girl in front of him had already proved she could mostly take care of herself here in the forest, but what about other areas around Hyrule? He grew a little concerned, wondering what would happen if she wandered into the desert or the Peaks.

I'm sure I could handle it.
Voletta chuckled a bit, a clear image of herself lugging around two, ridiculously large books. Actually, that's a bit scary. How much would that hurt if she got hit by them. Twitching at the thought, she distantly heard the boy mention of leaving the forest. She still had some time to stay back and relax a bit. But then again, Voletta had been relaxed for quite awhile. A long while. Standing up, she patted the backside of her cape of any dirt, then the front.
What do you mean "already?"

Alistair had to choose the words in his response very carefully. He didn't want to offend Voletta, so coming off as obnoxious or offensive wouldn't help his case at all. He was simply trying to be rational. He hoped he had picked the right words as he spoke.
"Well, are you sure you're ready? You can fend for yourself right now because you know this forest. When you're thrown into a different setting, it can be a little disorienting. " He spoke nonchalantly, not adding any kind of tone to his response. "I mean, I'm all for a good adventure, I just think you need to be fully prepared before you embark on one. This land is just as dangerous as it is interesting."

The little girl gave Alistair a blank, empty stare, contemplating her reply. Being fully prepared was something Voletta set aside a long time ago, and had simply forgot about. She was fully aware of the dangers she'd face after exiting the forest. Not that she cared. Guns will be obtained in a later time. Training, however, will not be needed. She talked in her regular, monotonous voice, yet keeping a small smile spread across her lips.
I prefer to stay as I am. I'm sure I'll be fine.

"I guess there's no way I can really stop you, so I suppose I'll just wish you good luck on your journey." Alistair said with a grin. He was about to wave and say his farewell, but he decided to stick around for another minute to share some information.
"If you need me, I can frequently be found at the biggest inn in Castle Town. And if you don't know where that is, you can read just about any road marker outside this forest." He made a rather last-second decision, reaching a hand into his pocket. What he pulled out was a ring that he tossed to Voletta. "Do me a favor and hold on to this. It'll have a use later. Well, probably. Seeya 'round, kid~" And with that, he nonchalantly turned and left, humming a quiet tune as he walked.

Voletta caught the ring in one downwards swoop of the hand. Holding the ring in front of her right eye, she examined the ring closely. There were small details only a professional jeweler could carve. The foundation of the ring was made up of a swirl-like pattern, four symmetrical wings surrounding a petite sapphire jewel. Hmn. Why would a stranger give her such a fancy ring? What could this ring possibly be used for? Well, She'd figure out in time.
Waving, Voletta watched as Alistair walked away. Alistair. Alistar. Really, that boy needs a nickyname. Turning to the direction of her usual path out of the forest, she galloped along, singing a small tune to herself.
