Diplomatic Solutions (Kotone)

Merik had spent most of the day in the coliseum after the fiasco back at the Fortress and it had been fairly productive. Upon his arrival he had found a few camps of Bokoblins scattered around the premise which had helped alleviate a lot of his aggravation as he killed a lot and sent the rest scattering to the four corners of the desert.

The rest of the time since that had been spent torching the bodies, running a few dozen circuits of the arena and finally settling into the center to rest. The heat of the day rapidly dwindled as the sun disappeared and the cold moon rose to watch impassively. He expected Kotone would probably be along at some point but he couldn't say for sure so he simply waited in silence watching the stars pass by.

Kotone been at the Gerudo training area to cool off like Merik said to. It was taking her a little more time as it seem that Ruma upgraded it with her robots and stuff. She really doubt there be robots out in dungeons but yea. Ruma was happy to help even if she does make it harder. So it was night when she left the Gerudo village to head to the Coliseum. She knew Merik had all right to be upset with her of what she did today and she would of done it again but kill that bug. The Fairy Queen was a weak female how could he like her? TR was a lot stronger then her.

She took a horse and rode to the coliseum in the moon like. Only a few desert monsters where out but not many at all. She figure Merik had his way with them. As soon she made it to the Coliseum she got off and tie off her horse. What she post to say to him? This was nothing as she plan she would be telling him that she loves him. Even if she did tell him he might only think it as family love.

She looked around and let out a whistle to let him know she was there. The whistle was poor thought she was never at making them. However it does the job in a empty space like this. She looked around and listen as the coliseum seem to have its own tone or music to it. Even with the quite of the night it had a strong aura to it. It was a bit hard to see since it was night but she can still see the figure still carved in to it. She closed her eyes as she stood there listening.

At the new sound Merik rolled over and placed his arm into a hole in the arena, summoning Flamestrike and firing a bolt of flame into the darkness below before rising to his feet. Down below the fire made contact with the enchanted burning pit and torches began to flare into life in the arena and the stands.

"Feeling a little better Kotone?" he called out, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the new light before he tried to seek her out.

Kotone eyes open wide then turn away from the light as the area seem to light up. After a moment she heard Merik's voice call to her asking if she was feeling better. She nods but don't know if he can see her at the moment as she walked in to the area. She was not use to the light just yet but seeing things better now. The Coliseum was lovely after all no just because on how big it was but the art work on it. She wanted to know more about the world on who made this. Or rather when they made it. Was it during the last king or the king before then. Even more so why is there only one male per 100 years? Is there a real curse on their people?

Merik shook away the last of his night vision and turned on the spot, quickly spotting Kotone as she walked into the arena. He waited for her to get closer before speaking so he wouldn't have to try and figure out what she was saying from across the coliseum.

"Now would you like to explain to me what's going on that brought about today's events...from your end, I understand what brought things about from the other side."

Kotone soon heard his voice again as she rubs the back of her head. She let out a sigh as she knew she wanted this event more well happy. However she have to tell him. Her lips begin to move as she was speaking as no sound came out. 'Well Ruma says I have bad jealousy thing.. I say Its only a little bit.' she looked a the ground then back at Merik. 'You see I tend to make... females you been with either disappear or .....pay for what they did' she said moving her hands a bit.

'So yeah that what happen.. as soon I knew the lady was in fact the bug... I mean the queen fairy... I over reacted' she rolled her eyes a bit. She still was not telling him how she felt. She was telling him what most people already knew about her. She wanted to tell him but scared what he might say or do after words. Thought the worst being he does not love her the same way but her jealousy will keep going. She knows it will as she cares so much for him more then he knows. Heck if there was someone that made him cry in his life that person would be gone that day.

She waited to see if he caught everything as she did not know. She knew he was good at reading lips but don't know if she should gesture more or write it down. She one of the few people that won't wear a pirate charm. She put up the lie that her mind always thinking of dull stuff and it bore someone to death. No she more scared that look different on her. It just a fear thing inside of her. A fear that even if she had it maybe it won't work.

Merik observed silently as Kotone confessed her 'little' jealousy issue. He typically wasn't one to go back for seconds but now that the thought occurred to him there had been a time or two when he hadn't wanted to find a new girl and had been unable to locate a past conquest...

Hmmm... she keeps busier than I figured...

"I still can't see why you'd need to be jealous of any of them; none of them have ever had my love and they've only served to further my own goals, not exactly anything to worry about."

She listen to him and nodded as she looked at him again. 'So that means you don't love our youngest cousin?' asked him as she knew she been with him. She had not seen her since. Maybe she was in hiding in fear to see Kotone face to face. Either way she was gone from her sites. However she needed to say what on her mind as she doubt the fairy queen was someone like that. Even thought he say love she saw none from him because normal hugs or pats. It was not the love she had in mind.

'Marik... I love you' she lip to him as she hug her chest a bit. 'However more then family love.. that why my ' she said as she looked down a bit then slowly looked back up to him. 'jealousy get the best of me' she lip to him. She did a lot for him. Not only she take care of lot of the reports of trouble and protect him with her life. She also do research which she give to Ruma so she can make new things and research on the triforce in which she hope to find so she can give to him.

The revelation was not near as big a shock to Merik as it probably would have been for most. He had easily seen her love when they were children and he could only assume that he had marked his suspicions of her behavior as remnants of the past.

"I know you do...and I'm so sorry that you do because I can't return your love." he said quietly, knowing it would hurt her more than anything else. He remained quiet for a time, lost in a memory, before he finally spoke again.

"I fell in love with a beautiful girl a long time ago, and I was determined that when the time was right I'd take her as my Queen... but the world is a cruel place and I had to watch as all the negative effects of my actions fell upon her. And so I made a decision that I'd never curse another with my love and locked away my heart...

Even after all these years I can still hear her singing softly in the night..."

Kotone was hurt as she felt like she was hit in the chest hard however no tears came from her. Never once in her life she ever cried. She was always told to be strong as she had to protect the future king and so on. However during this time she told him the truth she got slap in the face with the truth. He did not love her that way not at all. Even more so he loved another and even more then that she will not love again.

So all the women he been with was just for play. It did not settle right with her. To make thing worst he was talking about the women and how she sang. Which hurt worst as she can sing she can't talk. She can't voice out like she did when she was a child. she had no idea who this women he loved or if she alive anymore but that women made her life hell. A hell she can't leave from or express. She nodded to Merik her understanding of his feeling to her and the words after.

'If that all I leave you be... I never bother your... "guest" again then' she lip to him. Thought she could not talk she still felt a lump in her throat from all of this. A man she looked after since they both was children and he loved another. One that can sing and talk one that he cared more for then his cousin it seems. It was a pain she knew won't go away but she have to keep to her job and protect Marik just not from girls anymore.... it seems.

Though Merik knew Kotone wouldn't cry, as far as he could remember she never had, he also knew exactly how much pain she was in. It took all of his will and resolve not to cross the few feet between them and hold her...

He had made his choice when he was ten and the plague had stolen her voice...

It had been reaffirmed when he was eighteen and her mother had died with the Desert Pearl...

And now fifteen years later he was forced to rethink it...he had prayed for the Goddess to send her someone else to love, though he could see now that it had done no good...

And after all this time all my oath has managed to do is hurt her more than before...

"És rižo sa latifa..." he finished his thought, realizing a second too late that he had spoken aloud.

Kotone was taken back by his words. As he was deeply sorry and that did not faze her but it was the two words after words. Those shook her from head to toe. She looked to the left then right making sure no one was around her then looked back at him. Did he slip up on wrong she was stun at the moment in her own thoughts. However after a bit her mouth open. 'És rižo sa latifa?.... Are you making fun of me now' she looked at him more.

Merik shook his head at her question, a bit irritated with himself for the slip-up.

"Though the truth may hurt more than the lie it would appear it is a secret I can no longer keep..." he said solemnly as he forced himself to stay where he was; now that it was partly out he couldn't leave the rest unsaid. "You've had my love from the start; bi kénčųt Étimana sa latifa."

Kotone was standing there with mixed feelings and still confused for the most part. He lied to her? She did not see threw the lie at all. She was proud of him sharping his skills on that but still. It was a Lie to her which made her upset a bit. Why would he lie about not loving her or anything like that. They are family after all she did not understand why it had to be a secret.

She started to walk to him closer as she wanted to find out more. Her face was upset with anger by more worried on why he was hiding it from her. She was after all a worry wart. 'Why? ... Why kept it a secret... why Lie to me?... thought it was a very good lie but still' her lips moved as she looked at him. There was so many question to ask him. If he did love her that way then why be with other women? If his statement before not wanting to hurt the little girl which is Kotone. Then he not doing a very good job at it. No he doing an awful job at it.

"Why did I lie? Look at what has happened to our family since my birth: My mother died birthing me, you and Mara nearly died from the plague, Mara's and Ruma's mothers did die from the plague, you lost the use of your voice, your mother and our final aunt both died when the Pearl was destroyed; my birth was a curse upon our family." Merik said angrily, though clearly the rage was aimed at himself rather than anyone else. He took a few breaths to calm himself before finishing.

"The best I could do was fight my own desires and pray you'd find someone else to love so you'd finally be safe..."

Kotone was no in front of him as he seem to be upset with all the deaths. Yes it was sad to lose so much of their family to those events. She did wish to know her aunts more and maybe say 'love you' to her mother once more. However that was life as ever Gerudo women knew they fought for their own kind. He was playing the blame game on his self even on stuff he can't control. He was an idiot still and here she thought he grew up.

She goes and slap him hard across the head then goes down and did a spin kick to knock him off his feet. She got back up looking at him as she pointed at him. 'Don't give me that crap! We were born mins apart and you can't blame your self for illness and it was not your fault the Hyrule attack the ship. Your still an idiot it seems' she lip to him as she sighed. 'So fighting your desire is mating with 6 or more people you don't love to fill something' she lip again as she looked at him hoping he get some consistence to him.

Merik's reflexes were sharpened to a fine point so he could have easily blocked Kotone's strikes but he accepted them without a word, he deserved a lot more than he was getting at that point. He watched impassively as she spoke, though a half grin did form at her final words.

"Actually as I said each had a purpose and when I found that my desire had grown too difficult to keep in check I'd find one of them to help further my own goals: Each of the Gerudo I slept with were dissenters against my rule and I managed to bring them around; sleeping with Titania brought me information from places my spies couldn't reach and should war break out she'll have to think a little harder before choosing a side; lastly sleeping with T.R. got me a powerful and very loyal ally for the Defiant...though that was a chance encounter and not really planned out more than a few minutes beforehand." he said calmly as he continued to watch his sister.

"The world has been cruel to you Kotone and you deserve someone far better than me."

Kotone blinks as she pointed at him with a piss off anger smile at him. 'You really want your butt kick' her lips moved as she ran her hands threw her hair as she walked around a bit then turn back at him. She started to gesture about as she was so upset. She hold up a 0 with her both hand the point to her head then looked at him. Well it was clear to say what that means. Then she waved her hands a bit then crush them together then rip them apart. She was still upset about the fairy thing and TR.

After taking some long deep breath she turn back to Merik. 'Who better then you? A god' she said looking around at the sky. she made a Mmm face then looked back at him. She touch her head and flick it away. 'Oh right no gods only goddess so I'm stuck with you' she lip to him with a smirk.

"Kotone, be reasonable and look at the big picture: It's never been safe for you beside me, matter of fact it's never been safe for you as my shadow either but you keep coming back every time I manage to get away, if any of my enemies found out about us, struck at you to get to me, and they killed you, I'd never be able to live with myself...I mean I'd massacre the bastards that did it but what good would that do me after they were dead? You'd still be gone..." Merik replied, fighting back a smile when she said the only one better would be a god.

"I've never wanted you to put yourself in danger for my sake and this is a whole new level of danger...

It's far too dangerous and I won't allow it."

Kotone looked at him as she shook her head at him. 'I'm your body guard, I'm your adviser and your sister. How can we ever be apart?' she lip to him as she sighed at him. She been his body guard ever since she was little. Of course back then she could kick his butt a lot more then she could not. No now he has more strenght then her and the fact he taller does help too.

She shook her head to him as she got down on her knee bowing to him. 'You are the King of gerudo even if you was not my brother I would still protect you with my life. My life is nothing compare to yours' she lip to him as she bow her head to him a bit then looked at him once more. 'Unless you ban me from gerudo tribe I will always protect you' she lip to him as she mean it as it was not just love but her loyal to him.
