Finally, she was able to rest.
Being a Vanguard wasn't exactly difficult; the Emperor had eliminated practically all threats by disposing of the previous Vanguard and Emperor single-handedly, and because of said lack of threats as well as a decidedly uneventful reign so far, Daystallion truly had almost nothing to do. So, she granted herself a small vacation of sorts.
It wasn't all that difficult to get here; Death Mountain was large, and many areas of it were mostly unoccupied. As such, she had shifted into her human guise to search for a cave large enough to hold her, and proceeded to take a delightful two-day-long nap. Of course, she didn't sleep nearly as much as a human, but she had been in her true form at the time. Day had to eat more, sleep more, and fly more to stay healthy, and the goddesses help her if she deviated from her required amount of sleep by even a second.
It was quite wonderful, being able to relax like this. She was hardly ever able to stay in her dragon form for long, if she even got the chance to shift at all. Of course, she was admittedly large, especially for a female, and there weren't many places that could comfortably hold her. Fortunately for Day, Death Mountain could.
She really should have gone back after the first day, though. It was irresponsible to leave for so long, not to mention incredibly rude. Although, she had given notice... so was it really all that rude?
While pondering the technicalities of her situation, Daystallion let out a yawn so large it cracked her scaly jaw, and before she knew it, her eyes had slid shut and she was napping once more.

Einar. no last name. White, thin hair, and a weak build. Dressed commonly in a long, silver trimmed, black jacket. A traveler by nature, he made out his own living.
And at once, Ein had to stifle a yelp.
Right as he managed to scale the mountain in search of some herbs for dinner that night, he came across a napping.. dragon. Ein hesitantly came a bit closer. It looked deep in it's sleep. The chances of it waking up and noticing Ein were slim, so he came a bit closer, lifted a trembling hand, and lightly touched one of the dragon's scales.
"Dragon", that was a bit of an understatement to the eyes of public, I assume. Scales that shone like stars, and arsenal of sharp teeth and a whisky tail that looked more than capable of cutting one cleanly in two.
These adjectives and descriptions raced through his head as suddenly, a wave of drowsiness swept over him. He set his traveling suitcase by his side and sat, leaning against the side of the dragon's back. It was slightly hard, but warm and comforting, the gentleness of it's inhaling and exhaling making him feel at home. It was dangerous beyond danger, if what Ein read was correct..
But yet.. yet..
It's kind of.. cute.

Surely the boy wasn't so naive as to think that a dragon actually ever fully slept. In this regard, they were exactly like cats; they could doze and doze and never do a thing, but as soon as there was even a hint of disturbance, they were wide awake. They didn't show it, though. Even as she heard the boy's quiet voice and felt his fearful touch, her breathing remained even, her eyes shut. Day didn't want to scare the poor human (she assumed he was a human, as he smelled like one), so she made no movement as she felt his small body lean up against her flank.
Interesting. So he wasn't all that afraid, evidently. Perhaps she could get away with revealing that she was indeed awake without scaring him to death.
Slowly she opened an eye, and ever so slightly shifted her folded wing so as to adjust the boy's position. Hopefully that would be enough to wake him up, but just in case... Day softly cleared her throat, and she spoke, her deep, rumbling voice utterly flat and expressionless. "... Excuse me."
She never did have a penchant for words, and she was at a loss for what else she could say in a situation such as this. It was really all she could come up with.

Ein jumped with a start. The dragon wasn't asleep after all. At least he wasn't burning or sliced up now that it was.
"Excuse me" it said. So it was capable of speech. Ein wasn't entirely freaked out - at least it would in fact make it easier to explain his situation. If the situation in the first place was even coherent enough to explain.
"Ah." He could only grasp those words for a small second. He was almost transfixed by the sight of the fully risen dragon. By the voice, it appeared it was a female as well. Suddenly regaining his voice, Ein said sheepishly,
"I'm very sorry. It's just that.."
His voice dropped a tone.
"You looked.. really peaceful while you napped.."
(( This could be a fetish @_@ ))

If she had one, Day would have raised an eyebrow. Peaceful? The holy warrior highly doubted that a dragon could ever look peaceful... but then, she'd never seen herself sleep. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. All that mattered was that she politely extracted the boy from her cave so she could descend the mountain in her human form. The point of even having a human form would be rather defeated if she revealed that she could shift back and forth at will.
But how could she get him out without appearing rude?
Faced with this dilemma, Daystallion was silent, rolling the situation over and over again in her head, her expression never changing as she struggled to find a solution. She was like this for a good three minutes before she realized how awkward the silence was.
"... my apologies. It is not my intention to make you uncomfortable."
Still, she was rather curious as to who this boy might be. It wasn't every day that she meant someone so decidedly unafraid of a vicious beast roughly the size of a house, after all.
Day blinked and rose so that she was sitting on her hind legs, and she took a moment to adjust her wings so that they were firmly flattened against her sides. After a moment she craned her neck so that her head was directly in front of the boy, one large eye staring at him curiously.
"Might I ask you your name and business?"

Ein sat in a respectful kneeling position. The sound of rolling rocks and clanging metal echoed in the distance, and the dark clouds above seemed like regular weather for Gorons. The area was vast and large - the white-haired teen guessed it was hard to find a resting spot nowadays for dragons like her.
"I'm Ein."
He gave a small courteous bow.
"Since I travel, it's a commodity for me to have to search for resources.. but,"
He sheepishly looked up at the dragon with admiring eyes.
"I guess I forgot about it.."
It was a weird feeling, but Ein found the dragon so magnificent that his breath was nearly taken away.
This is.. nothing like what I read.
"What's your name?"

As she was a bit too large to respond to the teen's bow in kind, she merely dipped her head. She momentarily played with the idea of just transforming right there, as it would make it easier on herself; as far as she could tell, this Ein wasn't going to leave anytime soon. As to why he wasn't frightened, she had no idea; everyone else she had appeared to in dragon form screamed and ran for their lives. Excluding other dragons, that is.
At the mention of resources, her stomach let out a loud rumble, and she glanced rather sheepishly at her middle. She hadn't eaten in her dragon form in... goddesses only knew how long it had been. It wouldn't be prudent to hunt with a guest, though, so there was truly no other way around it. She'd have to transform and escort the teen down to Kakariko.
Ignoring Ein's question for the time being, she craned her head around and looked to the back of the cave, where her dress and armor was folded and placed in a neat pile. She had managed to make it so that she turned back with some kind of clothing on, but she truly preferred her usual attire... and she wasn't about to get dressed with the boy just standing there.
"If you would be so kind as to wait outside, I shall answer your question in a moment," she stated, and without looking to see if he complied with her request, she shifted.
She had long gotten over the uncomfortable nature of turning from dragon to human; while human to dragon was a more pleasant experience of the expansion of power, dragon to human was the contraction of it. In short, she had to store everything that made her a dragon into one little human body. But she had done it so many times that it was like a second nature to her, and in a matter of moments Day was in her human form.
She glanced down at the pathetic excuse for an article of clothing that she had on, and rolled her eyes ever so slightly. She really had to find a way to get around that. But she quickly walked to where her clothing was situated; she donned the dress and armored skirt, strapped on her plated boots, and sheathed Excalibur at her hip. Her gauntlets she tucked into a pocket underneath her layer of armor, and from said pocket she produced a strip of blue ribbon. Running her fingers through her loose blond hair, she ventured to Ein's side.
She blinked at the teen and curtseyed when she approached him. He looked a lot... well, taller this way. But then, she wasn't exactly the largest of humans, so that was to be expected.
Clutching the ribbon in her heads, she stared up at the teen, her cold blue eyes seeming to gaze into his very soul.
"Daystallion Lightdark, of the Emperor's Vanguards."

Ein waited courteously, wondering what the dragon was doing that needed concealment. His white hair stood on the edge at the sight that presented to him next.
A woman - slightly shorter than he was, but from her looks, she could have been his mother for all he knew. Her armor was presented majestically and formally, her blonde-hair slid in the wind fluidly - Ein couldn't appreciate her beauty more.
"Daystallion Nightdark" she was called. A vanguard also for the emperor? Crossing his arms and tilting his head slightly to give Daystallion a contemplative look. Ein had heard of princess Zelda, but knew of none other prestigious figure. Perhaps he was consulting the wrong books. His thought bubble popped,
"It's a pleasure, Miss Daystalion." he said hurriedly, passing over his thoughts, gave another deep bow, but ended up hitting his forehead against Lightdark's.
"I-I'm very sorry!" blushing furiously at the ground, he felt very embarrassed to act so childish in front of a woman of such importance. He couldn't help it really, though, seeing as he was a child. Ein did a good job of covering it up too, spending little time with other people, always reading or knitting, or something of the sort.

She nodded in response to his statement, replying only with a simple "Likewise." Turning into her human form apparently hadn't been such a terrible idea after all, as he didn't appear shocked that she could blend in with the common populace. She had to admit, the teen was rather good at taking things in stride... that is, until he knocked their heads together.
Day didn't react much, she merely pressed her fingertips to her forehead to check for signs of bruising. It didn't feel like it was going to leave a mark aside from the initial redness, so she didn't deign to worry about it. Ein, on the other hand, looked absolutely flustered. And, before she could reject the thought, she realized he looked kind of... well, kind of adorable.
She blinked in surprise and let her gaze drop to the ground, a faint blush dusting her cheeks. What in the name of the goddesses was she thinking!? Though, admittedly... she was twenty-three and still had yet to kiss a man. Perhaps it was finally getting to her.
Daystallion shook her head ever so slightly to banish her thoughts. The teen in front of her was just that: a teenager. She had to be at least four years older than him, if not more. It was ridiculous to even consider the idea.
"There is no need to worry about it," she said politely, a tiny, wavering smile gracing her lips. "And please, if you so wish, you may call me Daystallion or simply Day."
She glanced at the rocks surrounding them, quickly pinpointing the path she had taken to reach her cavern. It was a bit dangerous, but it posed no trouble for her coming up, so she assumed it would be the same going down. As for Ein...
Her eyes flicked to the teen and back to the path, and mentally shrugged. he had gotten up here, right? He could go back down as well.
"Shall we go to Kakariko, Mister Ein?"

Ein rubbed his temple. From the look of things he had even embarrassed her too.. what a terrible child he was.
When she insisted on being called a nickname, Ein held up his hands feverishly and said,
"But, that would be disrespectful. Bis sis.."
His tone and expression dropped a bit from mentioning his dead foster sister.
"..told me to respect my elders. It would be bad if I disobeyed her, after all she'd done for me."
When she offered him guidance to Kakariko village, Ein said gladly,
"Sure! It would be an honor to walk with you - I could probably buy what I need from there anyways."
Ein followed Day outside of the cavern, grabbing the gripping the chest of his black coat as he did so. Before descending, he retrieved his traveling suitcase, which clearly showed the appearance of having too many things packed inside it.
It was difficult to maneuver his way up the hill, so he thought it might be a bit easier downwards. Clearly, he was mistaken. One wrong step into the exactly wrong angled rock sent him tumbling. He let out a drawn out yelp, he tried to keep his balance, but only managed to hop on toe while trailing don the mountain. Eventually he simply fell down and tumbled the rest of the way.
When the dust cleared, Ein struggled to rise. Gingerly touching his forehead, he realized it was bleeding.
I'm gonna run out of bandages soon..

She blinked as the teen's expression dropped at the mention of his sister. Curiosity plagued her for a moment, but the urge to question the boy quickly passed as she realized how rude that would be. Habits ran deep, and her need to be polite at all times trumped cured all sense of curiosity. So the dragon opted to drag the conversation away from siblings and to names, her emotionless voice carrying out over the rocks of Death Mountain.
"Surely I cannot be much older than you, Mister Ein. I am but twenty-three years of age, and if I may be so bold, I would place your age at sixteen or seventeen. Regardless, if it makes you more comfortable, Daystallion is quite alright when addressing me." Day's stiff and formal way of speaking was natural to her, and sounded uncomfortable only to others. To her, she was acting the part of a proper and polite young lady, exactly as her mother had raised her. The woman would be proud if she could see her daughter now.
"Excellent," she stated, rather amused at the teen's enthusiasm... and the appearance of his suitcase. Clearly he was not a boy who knew how to travel light. Rather ironic, considering that Day herself had no more than her gauntlets and ribbon, and that females were forever considered to be ditzes who always packed too many unnecessary articles of clothing. If not for how rude it would seem (not to mention how very unprofessional it would be), she might have bursted out laughing.
Even so, she couldn't keep back an extremely quiet chuckle at the teen's clumsiness as he tumbled down the mountain. Day herself was much more graceful in her descent, hopping from rock to rock with an ease and flexibility reminiscent of felines. By the time she arrived at Ein's side, her face was blank once more.
Noting the blood trickling from the teen's forehead, Day blinked and tilted her head slightly. "You are wounded. Please allow me to heal it, as it will take but a moment." Without waiting for an answer, the dragon crouched beside the boy and placed two fingertips over the wound, and with a soft yellow light, the blood stopped flowing at it was healed.
Straightening up, Daystallion turned to the direction of the village, and glanced at her companion. "After you, Mister Ein."

"I'm.. not seventeen or sixteen, I'm just nine yea-"
Ein's words were suddenly cut off as the woman placed two gentle fingers over his cut. His blush intensified - he hoped it wasn't seen. She looked so pretty up close.. After she was done, Ein shook his head clean and managed a shy "thank you."
Leading the way, Ein grinned happily and got up and trotted to Daystallion's side. In a way it felt like he had his big sister back again, despite the height differences.
"Th-there's no need to call me Mister.. I, I just told you, I'm only, well, nine.."
