APPEARANCE,
Rwaht is quite tall, standing at 6’3”, and is pretty broad, with a lithe, athletic build. Years of combat and training have left him in peak physical form. His eyes are chocolate brown, and his brown hair is rather long and unkempt. He also has a rather prominent scar on his forehead.
As for clothing, Rwaht wears a simple white, sleeveless shirt beneath a short, black jacket with a white fur around the colour, emblazoned with red lion symbols on each sleeve and a set of red wings on the back. He also wears a pair of bizarre, yet somehow stylish, black pants, with a massive zipper running along the outer side of the legs. There's even a zipper on each of his shoes. There are also several belts. No one has the stones to ask where Rwaht got his fashion sense.
WEAPONS,Leoking
ABILITIES,
Vis ImperiumAmong Rwaht’s magical talents, Vis Imperium is likely among his most powerful, and certainly one of his most versatile. Vis Imperium is, in short, the magic of momentum control, allowing him to manipulate force, to amplify it or bring it to a halt. Firstly, Vis Imperium allows Rwaht the power of flight; what this means in terms of combat is that, while using an action slot for a melee attack or ability, he can move in or out of range freely. However, it is when Rwaht combines his control over momentum with his innate magical talent (probably something to do with that Hylian DNA floating around in there) that he gets a truly dramatic power.
Vis Crystalis – at the end of every of Rwaht’s posts, Rwaht (automatically; that is, without using an action slot) generates one Crystal, which is usually a purplish crystalline object with a diameter of roughly a couple feet, though they can vary. Each Crystal has an endurance ranking of one level of health, and after having been summoned, orbits Rwaht loosely; when he attacks, the Crystals usually get out of the way behind him so as not to obstruct his attacks. They can also be shifted to stand in place behind him if they’re bothering his field of vision. Rwaht can only ever have three Crystals on the field at once; after he has three, no more will be summoned until another is destroyed. Since Crystals are on the battlefield, they can be targeted by any attack/ability/item/etc. Furthermore, Crystals take double-damage from close-range attacks.
So what’s the use of the things, anyhow? Their primary use is that Rwaht can move them into the path of an enemy projectile—magical or physical—to block one level of damage. He can do this with multiple Crystals at once to block more than one level, up to three levels of damage. It takes one action slot to do this, and he can only do it retroactively (applying to the opponent’s last post). Whenever Rwaht runs out of Crystals, Vis Crystalis goes on a two-post cooldown, during which no more Crystals are generated. Leader-MU begins here Meanwhile, he can launch the Crystals, either one at a time, or in a cluster, with the attack dealing physical damage equal to the current health of all Crystals involved. This takes one action slot, and if he runs out of Crystals in this way, puts the ability on cooldown as usual.
Searing BeingRwaht isn’t quite … normal. Since he was a boy, Rwaht has had a somewhat unusual power, though one he did not reveal until he was much older. While it may well be that there are more powers associated with this in-born talent that have yet to manifest, as of right now he can summon a set of wings of fire, called his Searing Wings. With a wingspan of twelve feet between the two of them, the flaming, white wings can actually be used for flight, but Rwaht can use Vis Imperium for that, so that ability isn’t bothered with. The real power of Rwaht’s wings is that he can shoot them at people.
This technique is referred to as Searing Trap. Consuming an action slot, Rwaht can launch his wings at his opponent, forming a series of fire bolts which surround the opponent (they do not need to land in any particular type of ground, or even any at all) and form a sort of fire-chain by forming connections between the bolts; the result is a large sort of fire cage. If the target moves in or out of range while Searing Trap is active, the chain suddenly explodes, and all of the bolts home in on the target at once: the target takes massive magical fire damage. Searing Trap lasts for two turns or until it is activated, and has a cooldown of four posts.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
QuadrigaWhat with his neat sword and flaming wings, it can be easy to forget that Rwaht is, principally, a swordsman. Quadriga is a reminder. To activate Quadriga, Rwaht has to take his second action slot to challenge his opponent and assume a swordsman’s stance. In the following turn, Rwaht gains four action slots, which must all be spent on normal attacks. Quadriga has a three post cooldown.
ITEMS,
Rwaht carries very few personal effects, though he does have a small, burnt splinter that he keeps wrapped in cloth in one pocket; it is the only thing he took from his childhood home.
HISTORY,
Truth be told, Rwaht Orin’s life was, for a very long time, pretty sweet. He had loving parents, a younger sister, and they lived quite happily on a reasonably wealthy ranch in the Ordon province. They certainly weren’t a major landmark or anything, but they were able to live quite comfortably, and they never went hungry. As a child, Rwaht was filled with dreams of knighthood and heroes, and longed to become one himself. He was naturally charismatic, and made lots of friends; his sister was less sure of herself, less outgoing, and Rwaht was constantly striving to help her fit in. Unfortunately, his naïve efforts were often misguided and made his sister feel even more ostracized, though she did appreciate his trying.
It was around the time when Rwaht was twelve and his sister was nine that they began to discover that they weren’t exactly normal. Strictly speaking they had fire powers. Rwaht could grow a pair of fire-wings if he concentrated, and his sister could turn shadow into flame. Though his sister was almost afraid of their powers, Rwaht encouraged them, and insisted that they practice. One day, they were practicing in the fields surrounding their parents’ ranch, late at night. A wolf was wandering nearby, and for some reason was attracted by the flame—Rwaht has always wondered if that wolf was in some way strange, or maybe just dumb, but he never found out. When the growling wolf approached his sister, who was trying to control shadowfire at the time, she reacted in panic and lashed out with the flame; the wolf, in blind pain, mauled Rwaht’s sister and tried to flee. In his rage, Rwaht grabbed the wolf by the neck and crushed it with his hands, accessing what he did not yet realize was his power of Vis Imperium.
Unfortunately, by then, his sister had lost control of her magic flame, and it had spread to create a huge brushfire, sweeping the countryside. The fire was out of control, and in the blaze, their home burned down, with their parents still inside. All Rwaht could do was try to shield his sister while he listened to their screams, nearly drowned out by the roaring of the flame. That was the day that Rwaht gave up delusions of being a hero.
Shortly thereafter Rwaht and his sister set out for Castle Town to try and find some way to survive, since literally everything about their family had been burnt or melted beyond recognition: this included the rupees, which was more unfortunate than either child really realized. They were nearly starving after only a week, before Rwaht’s sister began to turn to theft. Rwaht, in a bout of truly idiotic honour, refused to eat anything that his sister provided, claiming she needed it more. Luckily, a kindly old Goron smith found the children in the street and, taking pity, took them in. He lived in Death Mountain, but had come to the city for a few months to fill out some special orders. He invited the children into his home, and treated them well; he taught Rwaht about his craft, and even instructed the boy in rudimentary swordplay, which Rwaht learned at an astonishing rate. However, the old Goron soon died, and at the age of sixteen, Rwaht had to find some new means to support himself and his sister. Without knowing what else to do, he took the weapon that the Goron had made for him and signed up for the Hylian Knights, making his way into their ranks by seventeen. While his doubtful parentage—Rwaht was only half-Hylian—gave him some trouble, he eventually made his way into their ranks. His sister, meanwhile, began to find her own ways of earning money, by selling her unique talents as a mercenary. Rwaht was beginning to fit in as a knight, and his sister was beginning to make a name for her own—using the alias of “Jackal”—but curiously, at around the same time, both their lives changed drastically.
While she was chasing down a bounty target, Jackal was led into the darker section of Castle Town, searching for him. By then, she had become somewhat well known for her powers of shadowfire, and was hoping to intimidate the target into acquiescing. In the fight, she chased the target down through the alleyways, using carefully controlled shadowfire. She had long ago learned not to let her powers get out of her control. The target, however, a notorious, bloodthirsty criminal, smashed an oil lantern against the walls of an orphanage. The criminal escaped, while Jackal tried to enter the house to save the children. The fire grew out of control, however, and only her powers saved her life. In the fallout of the incident, Jackal was blamed, and was forced to flee. Desolate, Rwaht searched for his sister, but could not find her.
Shortly thereafter, while on patrol, Rwaht found some of his fellow knights assaulting a Zora/Minish hybrid—a child which, truthfully, was no attractive thing. He demanded that they stop, but they simply scoffed and pushed Rwaht aside. This, it turned out, was a mistake. Rwaht used his powers and prodigious skill to throw the knights away and beat them into submission, while the child was freed. Rwaht was put on trial for his actions and was sentenced to be hanged; until the Captain of the Knights intervened and suggested the idea of forming some sort of force to protect Hybrids. Rwaht took to the idea, and found himself going from being on trial to taking command of a new division of the Hylian Knights.
Not long after, Rwaht met two young girls, separately: one, named Aerith, who he rescued from some ruffians, and another who he saved under similar circumstances. The second was named Vriska, and was not quite as kind-tempered as Aerith. As a matter of fact Vriska was roughly as caustic as boiling acid, but somehow she grew on Rwaht, and she eventually became Rwaht’s second-in-command, as he pressed forward in his almost obsessive desire to make a place in the world for all the hybrids.
