APPEARANCE,
Thomas looks the part of a strong man. He stands fairly tall with a muscular body. His face his straight and his brown hair kept out of his face. The man's fairly unmarked body and ignorant blue eyes, however, reveal that he probably isn't much of a warrior(Unless he's an exceptionally good one, at least).
Thomas wears a skintight black shirt with a high collar which is crossed by two red straps that an X shape on his front and back. The sleeves are short but his left arm also bears a black leather gauntlet and fingerless glove. He wears an uncommon style of tan pants that have very large pleats, tied with a sash. On his feet are armoured boots of brown and gold.
WEAPONS,
Iron Sword One of many simple steel swords that Thomas' master made before he passed away. He was forced to sell anything of high quality so there is literally nothing special about the weapon itself, Being the last thing his master created still in his possession, however, gives it a very special place in Thomas' heart.
ITEMS,
Springsteel Blacksmith Shop A small, that is say very small, piece of property in Hyrule Castle Town. Thomas inherited the location from his teacher who used to only use it on the rare occasions he was in town. It serves as Thomas' home now and contains the basics needed for his trade.
Goron Hammer The last hammer used by Thomas' teacher before he passed away. Insisting on using the heavy tool may have made the apprentice Blacksmith's progress even slower than it already was but he has managed to build up a lot of physical strength over the years because of it.
ABILITIES,
Springsteel's Forge To Thomas was passed the art of creating works of metal infused with powerful magic. Producing a truly "complete" set of work for himself was Thomas' mandate before he could call himself a master blacksmith as well and he takes the task very seriously.
Springsteel Armour: Covering his left arm is the only piece of an unfinished set of armour. On it's shoulder is a large, gold-coloured crest. Down along the arm is a long, segmented section that alternates between dark grey and dark red. The armour reaches all the way down to Thomas' wrist. In addition to using this armour as protection for his arm Thomas can focus magic through the armour to activate a protective aura around himself that glows with golden light. Thomas thinks of this light as his master's love, since the Goron had made sure that the only work Thomas would be able to finish under his direct tutelage would be able to protect him from harm all by itself. The aura lasts for 2 turns and decreases all damage sustained during that time. After the protection ends the magic automatically begins to recharge itself. [1 Action Slot, Low Protection, 3 Turn Cooldown]
[Free Magic Slot]
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Flexibility As a human Thomas is naturally able in physical and magical pursuits. This has manifested as a single ability that can never be upgraded.
Tempering Fire: Thomas enchants any metal item or weapon with excessive heat, making it glow bright orange. The one holding the item in question at the time of enchantment is immune to the heat. The ability allows attacks made with the object to cause magical fire damage in addition to whatever physical or magical damage the attack or ability would normally cause. The enchantment lasts for 3 turns. If an attack is successfully made with the weapon/item during the third turn the heat will explode from it, dealing three times the magical damage it had before and harming all friends and foes within close range of the item. Thomas must maintain the enchantment by his own power so it will end if he is incapacitated or leaves the area the object is in. This also means that he can not prepare to use the magic again until after it ends. [1 Action Slot, Moderate Damage, 3 Turn Cooldown]
HISTORY,
Thomas grew up as a violent little punk. He would pick fights with other kids and bully others for fun. The human child was naturally tall so he was able to get away with it for the most part and his parents couldn't get him to adjust his attitude.
The boy's life changed when he met an old Goron who had come to town to sell some of his metal works. The elderly blacksmith intervened on Thomas' victims' behalf and took the boy to his shop to keep him out of trouble. It's hard to explain what changed Thomas that day. It was something about watching the master at work as he forged amazing art out of steel and the wisdom of the old man's words as he talked about his feelings on work and life. Thomas found him absolutely inspiring and came back every day. His parents were happy their son had a distraction, even a goal now. He wanted to become a tradesman. A smithy.
Thomas' dream didn't start out well. Actually it's never gone well so the start was just setting him up for his entire career, really. The Goron left town after only a short stay to go back home on Death Mountain so the now-teenage boy tried to become an apprentice at another blacksmith's shop. After around the third "accident" that cost more than it should have the boy was politely asked never to come back. Picking on kids was easy, actually doing real work seemed to require more finesse than Thomas had in him. Next he tried studying the art on his own, but the ex-bully wasn't the brightest candle in the room either and wasn't getting very far.
After much begging had been done Thomas' father took the boy on a trip to Goron City where they tracked down the old Goron who had changed his son's life. He agreed to take Thomas on as a student and the human lived there for a couple of years. The accidents and failures continued, but the elder's patience seemed unlimited and his teaching style very slow and perfect for the unintelligent young man. After two years in Goron City the duo returned to Hyrule Castle Town for another business trip, just like the one that had brought them together in the first place. The old blacksmith seemed to have a penchant for changing lives as he soon took in two more young children had become homeless. Since Thomas' parents were getting to see him again after a long time the blacksmith had already planned to stay in town for an extended period, so he was able to teach both his apprentice and the new boy, Rawht Orin, about being a blacksmith and the basics of swordsmanship. Ideally Thomas would have been better at the former than the latter, but even martial arts style violence seemed better suited to his talents than his actual trade of choice. Still, Springsteel loved the forge more than the blades it produced and wouldn't change his path.
Thomas knew from his master's stories and records that the old Goron had produced some truly unique works in his day, but this was the first time the apprentice had gotten to witness it in person. A very unusual weapon called the Leoking was forged during their stay, during which time Thomas was drilled harder on the arts of making a work fit for magical use. Once Leoking was completed Thomas was tasked with making something of his own that was magically-compatible with himself. Once he had created a complete set of armour and a weapon for himself then he could call himself a master as well, he was told. Thomas was to never let others use creations who's quality he wouldn't bet your own life on.
Sadly Thomas' teacher would never live to see the day his apprentice became a master come as he suddenly passed away after living a very long life. The Springsteel boy, now just barely a man and able to own property of his own, inherited everything that he had been taught with. the human was still a poor excuse for a smithy himself but also still too clumsy and accident-prone in the workplace to study elsewhere. Thomas decided to keep at the pace he had been learning and run the shop on his own, even if he remained financially unstable his entire life. Thomas certainly couldn't afford to support or even hire the two younger siblings that had been staying with them while the Goron was still working, though, so they had to leave. As a gesture of friendship he gave Rawht the Leoking that his master had created, even though he could have likely sold it for quite a sum.
Thomas grew into a very financially unstable man, just as planned. He continues to improve at his trade, but by so slow a rate and with so many accidents that work comes very rarely. He did eventually finish the arm section of the armour he had begun under his master, treasuring the magical enhancements that were built into first while the Goron was still alive. He wears it almost all the time now, even if it is just one arm's worth of armour. Thomas has no idea when he'll be able to complete the rest of the suit or a weapon to match it, so he doesn't want to die before using his teacher's last gift. The only additional pieces of the suit he has since finished are the boots, which he also wears.
EXTRAS,
Despite his poor talents as a general smithy Thomas does know how to take care of his master's existing works, even the unique ones. Because of this previous customers of his still come to Springsteel's sometimes for maintenance. Being able to charge fairly high for refinement of weapons other blacksmiths have never seen before has been the only thing really keeping Thomas' business afloat.

Another good character.
One question, would the aura's cooldown kick in after it has worn off, or kick in after its use. I was guessing you meant after it has worn off, but I had to be sure. =P
