Serene. Peaceful. Refined. Whichever synonym of "nice" you could think of burst into a certain boy's mind as he passed over a final hill and came into witness of Ordon Village. Time seemed to pass so fluidly and slowly over this place - it made him feel nice inside. Silently and cautiously, he slid down the hill with only the slightest crunching and breaking of gravel and rock, mispointed his landing, and fell into a circular dome-like pool, where a jagged rock struck straight in the middle. It took a few seconds before the boy resurfaced, clutching frantically at a nearby wall for support. He gulped. He was never good with baths, but this was okay- as long as he didn't stay long enough to freeze. Edging along the water's edge, he mentally introduced himself to you.
I am Einar. I dropped my surname because my parent's dropped me, but that's a personal thing. Call me Ein.
Missing a slight rock handhold, he slipped and fell into the water again, large bubbles of oxygen bursting uncomfortably around him before he splashed around and caught another support.
I appear to be 17, but in truth, I'm only 9 years old.
Ein stopped as he stared at his left hand, gripping one of the rocks that stuck out. It, like the rock, stuck out. It was a blood-red all over, having an odd quality of surface that made it look like it was chiseled, his fingernails spiny and jet black, and in the middle of the top of his hand, an engraved cross.
It's my left arm that caused this. My previous arm was taken from me by a demon, and it seems like we switched. I went through accelerated aging, and..
He stared at his reflection as well. His hair was droopy, wet, and pale white.
..some form of appearance change. The same demon cursed me as well, in a sensitive spot too.
Underneath the wet hair, on his left eye, both the top and bottom had a jagged, cross-shaped scar sharing a similar color as his left arm. Ein continued on.
My foster sister managed to stop the accelerated aging, and it's negative affects on my health, but only half of it. I know that unless I find a cure, this arm will plague and kill me someday. After all..
Ein bitterly gripped a rockhold. He was getting close to the village.
..it already took the life of my foster sister - and my hometown. When they rebuilt, they banished me, and she died days later - my sister. Now, I travel over the border of this land in search of a remedy. If I don't find a cure, I will only become a destructive pawn of the demon that swapped arms with me, and frankly, that is..
Ein pulled himself up to dry land, shaking himself of all water.
..not at all desirable.
He finished drying himself off. It may have seemed strange that he told you that he trespassed over to a new land without his belongings, but that problem was solved quickly. Ein cupped his hands around his mouth so that his voice would project and called out,
"Lavi! If you're ready, come on out."
Suddenly, a spherical, golden, golf-ball sized piece of machinery with elegant wings and a graceful tail all of the same color, carrying a suitcase that seemed far too heavy for it. However, it balanced over the water and carried the suitcase no sweat. When it was done, it settled the suitcase at Ein's feet and perched on his shoulder, wings fluttering nonchalantly.
"Thanks."
He picked up the suitcase and walked into Ordon Village's center.

Of course, when there is something comical coming on, Echo has got to be there to provide the relief she is so very good at offering. No, of course she never really did get laughs whenever she opened her mouth or performed or anything; her sense of humor, her entire outlook in general, just really was so morbid!
Slowly 'pulling' herself up from the depths of the lake, her head just peaking out over the surface of land to look at the male, she takes a deep quiet breath before speaking. "Whatcha' doing out here all wet, pilgrim?" she asks in a deep comical voice, parodying someone in her head for one reason or another. Those eyes of hers stare at the male, look over him carefully, and notice all the particulars that she should; off-hand, she could guess this one to be a rather deviant one from the normal lot she runs into. Perhaps this could be a good thing? Who is she kidding! It is always a good thing! Especially when fresh meat like this is bound to have some hidden surprises! Oh, the existence she could have if she ate this one alive.
Come hither.

"Whatcha' doing out here all wet, pilgrim?"
BLINK BLINK BLINK
Ein's left eye suddenly burst with bright red, the pupils morphed into a mechanical, spherical shape. He quickly spun in the direction of the voice and saw her. A purple haired girl, her head poking out of the water he just came out of. She had a depressing, deadly atmosphere floating over her, making Ein unnaturally nervous for some reason. His cursed eye was reacting.. it only did so when a monster was nearby. Could a light village such as this have such things..?
"Who.. are you?"
Lavi momentarily hovered above, it's wings pittering and pattering to stay airborne. It seemed to be facing in the girl's direction.
Ein.. this person is..

Echo had immediately noticed the change in the male's unique eye, pondering just what it was it happened to react to; she didn't have to wonder long, however, for she knew herself to be quite the catalyst for many different things. However, she isn't quite sure just what is the male's intent is; she wondered if the other had any control over that festering thing. She couldn't help but also wonder what that small golden little creature was floating next to him, but that didn't much matter at all.
Slowly crawling herself out of the pond like a zombie clawing at the ground to pull itself out of it's own grave, she peels herself out of the hole and onto dry land where she slowly ascends into a standing position with ease. "Someone." she replies dryly, just as dryly as her form surprisingly is for her have been inside of that pool of water; it is as if she hadn't been in it at all!

Ein watch, not moving as the girl moved out of the river. Hesitantly, he closed his right eye and only saw through his left. His vision was tainted in red, but he kept his sights locked on the girl. For a moment, her outline was fuzzy, then, in elegant, smooth white letters, the word "Poe" appeared over her. What it meant, he had no idea, but at least she wasn't beast enough to attack him in broad daylight.
Ein scratched his head uncertainly and addressed her once more,
"Do you have a name?"

The other one really is particular, she could tell that much by his weird behavior that made her arch an eyebrow. What is wrong with this particular male all dressed in dark? Haha, besides his obvious mental illness or something! "Who cares if I do? What is in a name?"she rhetorically asks with a cocky sort of tone. A hand runs itself through her hair, her eyes focusing on the abnormalities in the other. "What is that on your hand?" she questions with a harsh and demanding tone.

Ein, uncertainly at first, closed his left eye and let it rest for a moment before the flare de-activated. Sending a rather "I-dont-trust-you" look towards Echo, he said with an ounce of unfriendliness,
"I-I'm told not to disclose personal information to strangers."
(( Sorry. Just no muse. ))

Not to disclose personal information? What is with this other's attitude? He acts like he is such a child! Tch, Echo swears that if he is only acting like this to spite her she'll... Shaking her head in detest, she floats forward with her toes just an inch from the ground; as elegantly as she is moving forward, quietly and begrudgingly slow, she moves towards the male to put pressure on him (and to get a better look at his hand and whatever that golden thing may happen to be!
Echo didn't much mind at this point coming out in the sunlight; she knew she couldn't do anything in the light, and that anyone would be able to see her, but she didn't care. There wasn't going to be anyone around at this side of things, and she wasn't worried about the one in front of her either because he looked to need more help just functioning to begin with! "Did your mommy tell you that?" she coos in a taunting sort of way, her eyes narrowing as her lips curl into a devious grin.

"Nope. It was my older sister."
She seemed to be trying to make him out as a child, but frankly, he had no problem, with that at the moment, since he was a child. Lavi spun overhead, glaring spitefully at the girl that lay before them. Ein slung his suitcase over his shoulder, clearly exasperated from the difficult situation this person was trying to make for him.
"Mrs. Purple, do you have some kind of business with me?"

The other's ****-sure attitude took her by surprise, her movements towards him halting for the moment to study his demeanor. Just who the hell does this child think he is? Who the hell does he think he is talking to?! Oh, Echo is going to make him pay; she is sure of it!
Mrs. Purple couldn't help but wonder just what it is that is in the suitcase, the way he flung it behind him all defensively like that. Could it be some sort of treasure? Perhaps simply luggage? With as weird as this person is, there had to be something even weirder inside of that suitcase! Oh, how she should just phase through it and find out! She's got half a mind to do so, but at the moment she doesn't do a thing. "That depends on what's in the suitcase, patron." she speaks quietly, casually, the grin on her face reappearing once more.

Ein sighed. He supposed it was his fault for being so uptight, he forgot to smile or laugh or even be nice once in while just because he had been traveling harshly for the past month.
With a kind grin, Ein sat comfortably and held the suitcase out.
"Would you like to see? It's not much."
Opening it carefully so that nothing fell out, Allen traced his lips with his index finger in contemplation and showed it's frontside to Echo. For a suitcase that size, it looked as if everything was way too crammed.
"See see, my folded up tent is in this corner, and my hairbrush is right below it! and.."

Echo couldn't help but let it show on her face how disappointed she is that the male had nothing but regular luggage inside of his suitcase; she thought it would have been something special, like an artifact of some kind or something! The other's voice drones in her ear, her eyes dully watching his hands point to where everything is inside of it. She has to admit though, he has fit a lot inside of that thing that she thought could never fit, even though his technique is terrible. Oh, she misses her own backpack so much...
Waving a hand dismissively, she shakes her head and quickly follows up with some words. "Yeah, yeah, that's cool." she speaks in a plain manner, her form slowly touching down on the floor. Her eyes look off to the side for a moment, just to make sure there wasn't anyone who had seen her, her eyes then turning to the other side to confirm they were the only two in the area. "Where are you coming from, kid?" she asks, just trying to make conversation at this point to see if there's anything at all interesting about this one's endeavor. "What's that golden thing flying around your head? It's pretty weird if you ask me."

"Oh, him? He's Lavi. My older sister made him to watch over me.."
It was a bit painful to talk about her now, but Ein tried to not let it show.
"Now he's just my buddy. I think he's kinda weird too." he said good-naturedly. Clearing his throat, he moved on,
"I come from **********. It's pretty far away."
Ein pulled his legs into an earnest criss-cross and asked her,
"Now that I've disclosed you all this information, could I at least have your name, so as the title Ms. Purple can be set aside?"
(( It's meant to be censored. ))

Echo arches an eyebrow at the subtle explanation of that small little creature, and it only rises to the fact that she has never heard of the place where this one once came. Giving a shrug of her shoulders, she leans backwards against an invisible wall as her head tilts back to look up at the sky above the two of them. "I don't know, it is kind of peculiar giving my name to some kid who won't even give me his own! Not to mention a weird kid at that, you're really something else!" she exclaims with an exaggerated attitude, her eyes shutting behind her lids.
In her mind's eye, she's taken back to a time and place she can barely remember. There she sees herself in her room, alone, sitting in that corner all by her lonesome writing out her madness all across the wall. Funny how she can sit here and call this kid names, claim him to be the weird one, when she was the biggest nutcase anyone could ever imagine. Death, perhaps, has calmed her down some; perhaps it's only given her the luxury to sooth her volatile mind. But, alas, whatever the case is she decides to shake her head to eliminate the past from her current train of thought; she figured she didn't need to worry about something like that, not right now.
Her eyes slowly open, in them a hint of something sinister could be seen; one can only wonder what sort of sickly idea crept into her mind! "What was that tone you had when you mentioned your sister?" she inquires much like a bully would. "Do you miss her? Do you loooove her? How gross is that!?" she exclaims loudly, trying to embarrass and set off the one in front of her.

Ein looked crestfallen for a moment, contemplating over his dead foster-sister's memory, but then found an easier way to speak about her,
"Yup! I loved her a whole lot! I really really really liked her!" he said very happily. "She would play games with me if I was restless, talk if was bored, sleep with me if I was cold, protect me if I was being bullied, pick glass out of my forehead if a villager threw his wineglass at my head, comfort me when I was feeling down, lots of things that make me love her a whole lot."
Ein grinned and said to the ground. "I don't think it's gross at all. I think it's beautiful and warm."
He looked back at the girl kind of sheepishly, "Sorry for not introducing myself first. I'm Ein."
Ein held out a hand to shake.

The other's resolve to her attempts to get under his skin were noble, she didn't know how he could simply just look past it and return with something so warm and nice. Could this be what innocence is really like? Or, perhaps, this is just what stupidity is? Echo couldn't help but figure it was the latter; it just seemed more fitting for someone of his nature. The tale her told of his sister was a warm one, one that made Echo's nonexistent heart warm up and be filled with a sensation she normally doesn't have the luxury of feeling anymore. These days, this feeling, is disgusting; she didn't know how to function with it, so she did her best not to think anymore on that kind tale this kid spoke of then.
Ein is his name, Ein is a name she's never heard before; she didn't find it surprising, these days everyone had weird names that weren't orthodox at all. What possessed people to name their children with such weird names? Perhaps some spike of individuality is soaring throughout this reality, perhaps all the people she meets on her travels these days are just important pieces in the grand scheme of things. No, that couldn't be, especially for this kid! He is such a moron! Still, his hand and his eye are unlike anything Echo has ever come across in the past; she couldn't help but know deep down that this one isn't like the others.
Her eyes meet his outstretched hand, a kind gesture she couldn't return. "It's a pleasure," she speaks simply without much emotion in her voice; she didn't return the hand shake, needless to say. "What're you doing out here all by yourself?" she asks, finally sating her curiosity.

A soft wind blew over the pleasant, thin blades of grass that swayed and blew gently. Tucking some hair behind his ear, he looked up good naturedly at the clouds. "I can't tell you everything but.. I'm ill. I need to find a cure before I'm killed."Ein stared hopelessly at his left hand. It was a scaly, blood red, and his fingernails were sharp and jet-black. Whenever he felt it, the quality of rough stone seemed to present itself to him, even when he fingered the back of his hand where the engraved cross was. "Without this arm and my eye.. I would still be a regular 9-year old."Folding his knees and hugging them, he brought his attention now to the girl. Strange, now that he saw her figure was less demanding or overshadowing, his thoughts.. ..She looks kind of cute..Ein had a tendency to develop unusual fetishes, but for Ein, it was her eyes. They seemed like shining, bottomless pits, and for some reason, it felt addicting to look into them. Shaking his head as if to rid himself of such thoughts, he regarded her, "Would it be alright if I had a name to call you by now?"

The other's talk of being plagued by an illness that will kill him once the clock reaches zero, and especially him throwing out how he is still only nine years old, took Echo by much surprise! It showed on her face and the way her fingers scrunched up for a moment before they let themselves straighten out and relax once more. People these days, she thought, they only get weirder and weirder!
A name, a name; it's something the other has been asking about for such a long time now. He is only nine years old, it isn't like he could really do anything to her; it isn't like he could possibly know her, or of her, or anything about her. That hand though, that eye, she couldn't help but feel a strange sensation radiating from them both. It felt like gaseous poison that she breathed, traveling down her nose and into her lungs and was slowly setting her whole body on fire. What was this?
With a shake of her head and a soft pale hand that placed itself over the right side of her face, she takes a step back and breaks her eyes from the male to the ground at her feet. "Echo Faust," she speaks quietly in a tone she hasn't used before, "that's my name" she adds with bitterness in her voice.

"Are you afraid?"
Ein suddenly sat beside Echo, his arms hugging his knees, a bleak smile tugging at his face as he peered into nothing in particular.
"I am. Sometimes, just looking at this arm gives me nightmares. When I look into a mirror, I feel like it's gonna crack."
Ein fell back onto the grass, arms outstretched slightly. Echo had a kind of bitterness to her character. Staying silent for a few moments Ein looked up at Echo and said kindly,
"Echo Faust is a pretty name."

Afraid? Is he asking if she is afraid of him? Hah! Yeah right! She had half a mind to reprimand him for saying something so stupid, but the look that overcame the boy and his face persuaded her to do otherwise. The lament in his voice, the way he looked against the background of this place; like Echo, he didn't seem to fit in this land of make believe. A sad look befalls her eyes, and her head turns away to look off at something different. These things, they never change; even the things that seem still always are changing too. "Whatever."
