Joseph is generally the type of mage who likes to learn on the battlefield instead of the classroom. His knowledge is often seen as more of a haphazard guessing game, but almost every move he makes is planned out as much as he could. He often makes strategies for a battle during the battle itself, using everything he does to further his plan toward victory. Outside of battle though, Joseph acts very courteous, speaking calmly and softly. However he only allows those he trusts to truly know how he really is. He also has a bit of an issue and tends to get flustered when he gets a little too close to a woman.
On the other side of the metaphysical mental coin though, Joseph tends to be secretive to a fault, keeping any and all information about himself a secret, as if he is ashamed of the life he had lived before. He also seems to hold a grudge and hold it for a while, remembering every little thing someone has done against him, though he often forgives them if its small enough. He also seems to dislike following others plans, thinking that his own plans are generally better. Another thing is he dislikes it when ANYONE touches his left arm.
APPEARANCE,
Joseph stands at 5'9" feet tall, his body is slim but built, like that of a swimmer or track athlete. His body is a tan color, and its mostly free of any scars or tattoos that cause him to have less then perfect skin. However, on his left arm, from his shoulder, he seems to have a vine that wraps down his arm to his wrist. His eyes can seem to be soft and gentle, but they aren't as nearly as gentle as they seem, and they often betray his thoughts. His hair is shoulder length and has a waviness to it that is purely natural, much to his annoyance, the length is to his shoulders and the colors are a light brown.
His upper body is as such. He wears a large tan trench coat without any sleeves thats a tan color and has several parts of its design that shows it comes from a desert. The trench coat is sleeveless, though it doesn't look like the sleeves have been ripped off, instead looked as if it was designed like that. Beneath the trench coat, Joseph wears a white short-sleeved shirt with a collar. On his lower body he wears a pair of baggy pants, similar to cargo pants, with several pockets for certain things. He also wears a pair of sandals on his feet that he simply enjoys due to the freedom.
WEAPONS,
Wooden Staff: This is a staff that is about four feet long, most of the length curved slightly and the top of the staff is angled in such a way making it into a diamond shape, minus the fourth part that would close the diamond. The staff is wrapped around several times in a white cloth that covers most of the staff.

ABILITIES,
Plant Magic Manipulation: This power gives Joseph the ability to harden any plant around him into a material like metal. Be it the leaves from a tree, blades of grass, wood from a tree or vines, he can strengthen it for a sort time for use in and out of battle. Any plant material within 20 feet of him can be effected, but he has to choose what plant he gives this bonus too. Lasts for 4 posts. Cool down 5 posts.
Sand Magic Manipulation: This power gives Joseph slight control of sand around him. He can lift up small amounts of sand and shape them into four, 1 foot long spines that he can then launch at a target, though they collapse after going 20 feet from him. He can also cause the sand to shift around him and to raise up into 20 small inch-high spikes. However, he can only do one of these skills at a time. Cool down 3 posts.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Flexibility Left Arm for Vines: This power gives Joseph the ability to create three vines from his left arm, and he can either grow them from his arm or 'plant' the vines in the ground up to 20 feet away. Upon the vines growing, he can control them for 5 posts, manipulating them individually or as a group. The maximum length that the vines can grow is 20 feet long. Cool down 7 posts.
HISTORY,
Joseph is one who tends to be secretive of his past, so very few people know who he truly or where had came from, but there are rumors.
Due to his clothes and actions, Joseph seemed to have been someone who had originated from the Ordona or Faron providence, an area filled with flora of all sorts, perfect for someone well versed in plant magic. Some would even say that they recognize the Wooden staff he wields as fresh wood from the Faron Providence, while others say that the cloth came from the wool made in the Ordona Providence. He doesn't accept nor does he deny the claims, and most residents of the two Providences will tell you that they only saw him in passing, but they never knew that he had a home or family there.
His time in the desert was a little less known, due to the size of the area, but some say that they had encountered once or twice, though he was simply traveling along in a trench coat that he had gained somewhere in the desert. He had also gained slight control over the sands themselves, but his skills were weak still. From forests to the desert, Joseph had gained magic from these two areas, able to use the two elements in a small way, though still an impressive feat for someone so young.
Its during the more recent years of his life that Joseph has been seen traveling along Hyrule, aiming to become stronger. He seems to harbor a dislike for monsters that one would consider to be almost as if he was seeking revenge on all monsters for some unknown trespass. Some are an exception to this anger he holds, but few know the reasons why.

It may seem like Joseph has given his left arm to a monster vine for the ability to control its power.

Plant Magic Exactly what do you mean by "use it in battle"? Can he do more than just harden the plants to a metal-like state, like control them?
Sand Magic There needs to be a limit as to how many of these spikes you can form and utilize within a turn. An amount of perhaps 3 would be fair to be used within that turn.
Left Arm for Vines For this to be accepted, it would need a much greater cooldown given the amount of time it can be used for. For a starter ability, this is pretty strong; 35 feet is a fairly wide radius. Limit this to 20 feet and to only 3 vines maximum. Also, can you increase the cooldown to around 7 turns if used for a maximum of 5 turns. Lastly, can this be used in conjunction with Plant Magic to make the vines stronger?

No, this skill does not let him control plants, just harden them. Control might be a later power or secondary power to this one, but for now its just harden them. I've made the length 20 feet, the cool down 7 turns, and the amount of vines to 3. And yes, since the vines are plants, they are effected by Plant Magic.
