LS Style Example battle!
NOTE: This battle was done before we changed from 6 levels of health to 10. It's absolutely identical to how a fight would proceed normally except both participants have four less levels of health.
Okay, this is gonna go down between me and Ryst. Both of us are using example characters who use Goku and Vegeta as FCs for clarity, and have pretty straightforward abilities. I'm going to list my character, Exampleman's, abilities now. He's a human:
Racial: (humans get one extra magic slot that can't be upgraded. what follows is an ability created with that extra slot)
Acceleration Burst: In the following turn, Exampleman gains a single action slot. Cooldown: 2 posts
MSes:
Ragefire: A master of both fire and the burning passion of the soul, Exampleman is able to channel his rage into pure damage. Normally, Ragefire deals low damage. However, if Exampleman took at least a full level of damage last turn, Ragefire deals heavy damage. Nonetheless, Ragefire always has a cooldown of one post. Short range.
Repeating Lightning: You know what they say about Lightning and a sexual encounter with Azler Wilder ... they strike twice and hurt a lot. When Repeating Lightning is activated, it deals heavy damage. However, for every offensive ability Exampleman activates following Repeating Lightning, he can passively attach a weaker version of Repeating Lightning to it, dealing half as much damage as the previous Repeating Lightning. Repeating Lightning has a four post cooldown. Repeating Lightning is long range, while the following attacks share a range with their attached ability.
Handy chart:
Massive damage: 3 levels
Heavy damage: 2 levels
Moderate damage: 1 levels
Low damage: 1/2 level
Health levels:
Perfect
Near Perfect
OK
Wounded
Danger
Critical
KO (knock-out; at this point you can't fight)
Example man stood on a wide, open plane, essentially a nondescript strip of land that stretched out as far as the eye could see, dotted only by the odd cactus. He flexed and roared a mighty roar:
"SAMPLEDUDE! WHERE ARE YOU?!" He cried. He flexed again, because seriously, if you looked like that, wouldn't you?
health;; 6
(In terms of actual RPing quality, this is sort of just going to be lighthearted because ... well, it's really only intended to show off the LS system.

Sampledude:
Race: Hylian
Racial Abilities
Magical Devastator: All magical damage dealt by the Hylian is increased by a half level, and they gain access to a Magic Attack, which mimics the regular attack save that it deals magical damage (i.e. deal a half-level of magical damage, consumes one action slot, no cooldown).
Abilities
Earthdeathbrick – Name three things that hurt? Rocks. Bricks. And death. What’s that? Death doesn’t always hurt? Well you’ve clearly never experienced Earthdeathbrick! This ability allows Sampledude to draw up a large chunk of the ground, however it will always be a giant stone, no matter where he draws it from. The chunk is then hurled at high speeds at his target, dealing damage equal to death. Or, well, massive damage (three levels), since death is a bit extreme. Since it's a giant rock being thrown at someone, it has a tendency to knock them back. Those hit by Earthdeathbrick are immediately taken Out of Range. (Four post cooldown)
Ice Spear of Frosty Deathothermia – The ISFD is a brutal attack to be on the receiving end of. At first it seems like a simple attack: Sampledude summons up a spear of ice and hurls it at his target. This spear does two levels of damage to the recipient. However unbeknownst to that target, they develop a case of Deathothermia. What is Deathothermia, you may ask? FOOL! Deathothermia is a status effect that deals a half level of damage to those who suffer it for the following three turns if they use two or more action slots per turn. (Three post cooldown)
At supersonic speeds Sampledude soared in and slammed into the ground. Dust was spread everywhere and nearby buildings collapsed. No, those buildings weren’t always there. They were brought there in the wake of Sampedude’s greatness, caught in the tailwinds of his epic flight. They landed and then collapsed into rubble, leaving the area completely unchanged.
“EXAMPLEMAN! I AM HERE TO AVENGE MY DOG’S DEATH AT YOUR HANDS!” he shouted, raising an accusing finger at Exampleman. “How say you to these accusations?”

All was quiet. Exampleman watched as Sampledude appeared before him, indulging in his typical habit of summoning/pummelling buildings by way of dramatic entrance. He glared as Sampledude spoke, then slowly raised a finger. Dramatically. His face tensed, and then he suddenly screamed:
"YOU. KILLED. MY. CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!" As he shouted his final words, Exampleman charged towards Sampledude and raised his mighty fists, hollering like a gorilla with a particularly bad haemorrhoid. He swung his large, powerful fists around like windmills, hitting Sampledude twice.
"MR. TINKLES SHALL BE AVENGED."

Sampledude was not going to stand for such shameful accusations. He had not killed Mr. Tinkles, his car had, and he will not claim any such dastardly action. With a loud roar followed by a cry, Sampledude met Exampleman headlong. "FOR MR. ZIGGLES!"
The two attacks were taken by his mighty pectoral muscles and Sampledude roared again, feeling the exhilaration of battle. Boner-inducing testosterone radiated between the two and Sampledude launched forth two of his mighty fists, fueled by his massive, overworked biceps!

"I DENY YOU AND YOUR MR. ZIGGLES!" Exampleman cried, barely noticing that he was getting pummelled into a pulp by Sampledude's fists of fury. "YOU CAT-KILLING FIEND!" Exampleman roared, his eyes burning with rage. As a matter of fact, all of him was burning with rage. Particularly his fists. No seriously his hands caught on fire.
"I'M SO ANGRY I'M GOING TO PUNCH FIRE AT YOU!" Exampleman drew back his great, mighty fists, and shoved them at Sampledude with all the wild rage of an extremely muscular flaming man with a dead cat. That's not a metaphor. I'm being literal. Then, after the fire had impacted Sampledude, Example man punched him again because he's hardcore, no seriously.

Fiery fists were not enough to harm Sampledude and all his might. They might hurt him, however his great and mighty muscles would go on. Might! The great fiery fists knocked him back but he dug his massive leg muscles into the ground and used that to catch himself. "YOU AND YOUR FOOLISH FIRE SHALL PAY!" he shouted, and somewhere nearby an onlooker's head exploded.
Fingers dug into the ground, gripped and ripped up a great chunk of that ground. He ran forward at Exampleman, throwing forth a massive kick and then spinning to hurl the Earthdeathbrick at Exampleman to follow up the kick. "EAT PAIN!" he screamed mightily with all his might, then huffed away his fatigue.

When Sampledude punched Exampleman, Exampleman simply flexed his pecs and screamed. The next attack, however, the flying rock, merited actual words:
"I WILL EAT YOUR PAIN WITH MY MUSCLES OF GREATNESS." Exampleman roared, and took the somewhat sensible option of blocking with his forearms. It wasn't nearly enough to prevent all of the damage, however, and he was still knocked back by the rock.
Then Exampleman turned his attention to Sampledude. "I HATE YOU, AND YOU'RE GOING TO DIE." Exampleman went into a squatting position and supercharged while reflecting on the events of the last season. You know, that thing Trunks did in the Cell saga that lasted for an entire episode.

Exampleman is out-of-range. Close-range attacks can't be used.

"TAKE THAT YOU VILE FIEND OF DEVASTATING USELESSNESS!" Sampledude shouted at Exampleman as he flew into a cactus. However he realized the range would not do. His muscles weren't long ranged, after all, which meant he needed to get closer to Exampleman before he could finish him off an erase that hideous, bulging mess of cells, steroids and beef jerfy from this planet.
So with a mighty roar full of his might, Sampledude launched himself at Exampleman. Once he was within range he summoned up his Icy Spear. "IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET A CASE OF DEATHOTHERMIA!" he shouted, as a catchphrase was required for the spear to be used. At least that's how he saw it. Then he through that spear with all his might and roared and flexed and other manly things.

Exampleman bellowed in fury even as a giant freaking hunk of ice shot through his ribcage.
"AND IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET A CASE OF DEATH!" He roared, before he pointed at the sky for some reason and then charged at Sampledude, leaping into the air, twirling about a little and shooting lightning from his fingertips with Repeating Lightning. The lightning hit Sampledude straight in the CHEST, but Exampleman was not finished.
"I WILL KILL YOU THREE TIMES OVER!" He screamed, before he used his burning rage again by setting his fist on fire and punching Sampledude full in the face. However, as he did, lightning also clapped down from the sky and hit Sampledude. Then, Exampleman punched him, and lightning came along with the punch, too.
Sampledude was dead, and Exampleman was victorious. Raising his extremely bloody and partially burnt fists in the air, he laughed:
"BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHURK."
The "HURK" was him dying. Exampleman collapsed into a bloody pile of machismo and was no more.

So, to summarize, when Sampledude used Earthdeathbrick, he knocked Exampleman out of range. If Exampleman had wanted to attack in the next turn, he'd have to get in-range or use a long-range ability. Instead of doing either of that, he used the Guard ability that everyone has (see the Battle System post; it's in there near the bottom) and used his Acceleration Burst, which meant that in the next turn he'd get three action slots. Sampledude, not having an available long-range attack, had to move into-range so that he could attack Exampleman; his Icy Spear of Deathothermia did Heavy Damage to Exampleman (two levels). At that point, Exampleman was at Danger + 1/2, so he wound up at only a 1/2 level of health. However, on my turn, I used Repeating Lightning itself -- which did heavy damage, or two levels -- and Burning Rage -- which did heavy damage since I'd taken way more than one level of damage last turn, and was now off cooldown -- and then a regular attack, which did low damage. Additionally, Repeating Lightning's effect let me attach progressively weaker versions of Repeating Lightning onto his next attacks, meaning that I got to do an extra level of damage with Burning Rage and an extra half-level with my regular attack. All told, it would've actually done six levels of health, which would've killed Sampledude even if he was at full health. So why'd I die? Sampledude's Icy Spear of Deathothermia came with a status effect that did a half-level of damage to me for every turn where I used at least two action slots, and in my turn, I used three; I only had a half-level of health left, so that finished me off. Right now I'm also going to mention that for simplicity's sake we were both using pure-damage dealing characters, so the fight basically broke down to two glass walls running at each other, balls first. This one was so short because both characters had a single-minded obsession with murder. Anyway, what we hope has become clear with this is that while using LS style you can write however you want; goofy, serious, badass, fun, whichever. The only thing it really changes is that what abilities do is more defined. Anyhow! That's been the LS Sample Battle. Hope you had fun. And if anyone actually does use a Goku or Vegeta face claim after this I'm pretty sure you have to make them joke characters.[/blockquote]
