The village of Kakariko was empty. The few that remained defiant against the wave of attacks by undead had cleared out by their leader’s request to make sure the mercenaries he had hired wouldn’t have to worry about them.
The sun was setting fast, the large sphere impossible to see over the high mountains and cliffs that surrounded the small settling, only the orange light reminding them night was not upon them just yet, though the large moon hanging overhead was just waiting for its chance to take over.
Time was not on the poor village’s side, another attack would be occurring in such a short time, and the warriors were still needed to arrive.
The natural satellite high above was slowly turning from orange to blue, like sand falling in an hourglass…

Jin seemed to be the first to arrive into the small and empty city, or, at least he hoped he was the first to arrive to the city. As things where, he could of very well have been the only one to accept this job. It was an adventure he was hoping to not soon forget, but he also wanted to actually live through the quest. It was never good that one of your first adventures was also your last, so he wanted to make sure he lived through it with little problem.
Walking through the empty town, Jin readjusted the straps on his back shoulder, making sure that it would not fall off during the mission. Next he attached his bucklers onto each of his forearms and flexed his arms a bit before nodding his head, pleased that he wouldn't have any issue during the battle. As things where though, Jin felt at at home in the empty town, used to being alone in certain areas.
Cracking his hands, he made sure to ready himself for anything that would come his way. "Time to play."

Kulau was next to arrive.
He felt strange, very rarely did he leave the confines of Zora's Domain and Lake Hylia without his diplomat's garb, but today was different. He was proving himself to his brothers and father that he could do their work. At Her Majesty's leave, he was helping the great village of Kakariko with some monster troubles.
Upon arriving, he made a quick prayer in the fountain of Eldin and stretched out. There was one other person who had arrived before him, and he was preparing as well. Kulau would be respectful in a different way and not bother him. Instead he scanned the village for any signs of trouble.

If Daystallion were a lesser woman, she would be trembling; from fear, from anticipation, from the need to see her blade cutting through the rotted flesh of the undead.
But Day was not a lesser woman, and her body never moved an inch more than she told it to. Her movements were precise, her eyes wary; she did not miss much, and when she began swinging her sword, she missed even less. She was confident in her ability to destroy the forces of evil threatening this peaceful village, and with the holy light of the Goddesses on her side, nothing would stand in her way.
She strode into the village with her head held high and a hand resting on the hilt of Excalibur, her pitch-black battle armor allowing her some degree of concealment in the shadowy areas of town. It was ironic, she reflected, to have a holy warrior lurking in the shade, but the irony did not matter to her then. With Excalibur at her side and Nenya on her hand, and the aid of her compatriots, she would smite the walking dead until they could not walk any more.
She curtsied towards each of the two men who had already arrived in the village and nodded by way of greeting. Even in a situation such as this, Daystallion Lightdark did not forget her manners.
She pulled Excalibur from its sheath, the holy sword gleaming in the orange light of dusk. She held the hilt of the sword with her left hand, extending her right to check that her ring still graced her finger. Satisfied, she rested her hand on the pommel of Excalibur, and she began to murmur a prayer to the Goddesses. As she did so, the cross etched onto the blade of Excalibur and the crystal glittering in the setting of Nenya began to glow ever so slightly, with a soft, gentle, silvery light.
And so she would remain, until the holy might of the Pendragons was ready to stand against the forced of the undead.
summary: drabbled a bit, sorry. |3 day walked into kakariko, greeted Jin and Kulau, pulled out her sword and began the one-round charging period necessary to access the holy power in her sword and her ring. notes: so... i'ma just do this little thing at the bottom for sake of simplicity. actions and whatnot are in the summary section, ooc notes are here, health and buff statuses are below. cheerio! oh, she's wearing her battle attire. just so you know. :3 status: unharmed. buffs: x2 reflexes (human racial)

Seayn strolled into Kakariko Village, almost as if upon accident. He had been hired to help protect it from an attack of the undead, but he didn't really feel like a mercenary. He had his full armor on, as usual. He kept his sword sheathed for the moment, although his shield was already displayed prominently upon his arm. He moved slowly, the whole situation feeling slightly surreal to him. Monster attacks were always talked about, yet how often were there chances to repel such raids. He noticed a few other people there as well, probably other "mercenaries" that had come to the aid of the town. He felt as if he should introduce himself, yet it looked as if they were already getting ready for battle. The knightly wannabe instead took a little area as his own, drawing his sword for a moment to inspect the edge for kinks or nicks... there weren't any, as always.
Seayn looked about, wondering where these undead might be coming from. With his heavy armor and shield, he planned on throwing himself into the front of the fray. He wasn't quite sure how well he would be able to injure the monsters yet he had always been quite resilient when hit. The young man moved a little closer, looking from person to person. One was a female that he had seen before... then there was a zora, and another human. The new human was slender, yet he appeared to have enough muscle to hold his own. He felt as if he should introduce himself, yet he couldn't quite find the words so he put on his most serious expression, waiting for things to begin happening.

... Last but not least, Jack had arrived back to hometown. No, it wasn't because he got lost this time as he lacked terribly of any sense of direction. If anything, he knew where his home was at, and couldn't afford to have it be under siege of monster assault. It just... took him longer to get back is all. He couldn't refuse to offer his services to help out his village in it's time of need.
Strolling casually with his hands in his pockets, he took a deep breath in, recognizing the coat of thick mountain earth this town held. It came with being so close to the proud mountain, which soothe his senses of the events that would occur.
It came to no surprise that there were more company here, Jack assumed that he would not be the only one in on this little mission. An eyebrow arched, taking a look at the band of mercenaries that were hired alongside with him. A grin found it's way on his lips curious as to how this will all pan out. He was really hoping they could make the damage as minimal as possible. He liked his home, and would prefer it in one piece.
"Three humans, a zora, and a Hylian," he mused, more to himself than the others. "This ought to be interesting."

OOC NOTE: There isn’t any posting order, just post ASAP. I will give everyone 72 hours (3 days) from the time I post to make their own posts. If you don’t think you’ll be able to do that, PM me, or you’ll get skipped. 3 skips = ejected from the Quest. I’ll be aiming to try and post once a day, more if you guys reply fast enough.
Also, kudos to Day, that’s an interesting way of ending posts, I have a feeling I’m going to appreciate that during the more complicated parts lol
Lastly, I apologize for the fact that I’ll likely be a little bit lack-luster at first, rusty and whatnot lol I’ll do my best to get back into the groove as quick as possible.
The warriors had arrived, the pieces in place for this game of life and death to be played out. As the sun’s light finally left the sky and the moon was its normal pearl white, a wolf’s howl pierced the silent night as if on cue.
And soon that cue appeared to merely be the first verse, as sounds flooded forth, a loud roaring echoing down the mountain as the earth erupted into the sky as a fist punched through.
Rising with supernatural speed, corpses raised up from the ground around them, obviously having slept there during the sun’s journey across the sky after their last raid. Flesh falling from the bones of several, though for others it had long been gone, a small force of eight Stalfos emerged scattered around the warriors, their bones clacking against one another as they gathered together, bits of armor and muscle coating sections of each of them.
Red eyes peering out from the empty eye sockets, examining those who stood in their way, it took naught but a moment before they recognized what was presented before them;
Food.
Roaring, two of the beasts, each armed with a shield and sword, rushed towards Seayn with the shields held high as they closed the distance.
Another pair, these with a pair of swords, charged the female, blades slashing at her wildly.
Three others possessed maces and clattered their way towards Jin and Jack.
The remaining one drew a crossbow forth and aimed, firing two bolts at Kulau.

Jin took notice to each of the others who arrived into the area to hopefully help him defend the village. The first was a Zora who seemed to make himself right at home in a little bit of water a bit away from where he was standing. It was strange to see a Zora so far from the water, but it seemed like any bit of water would do for the race. Definitely something for him to remember later.
Next was a woman fully equipped with a black armor and long blonde hair. She made her way into the town and then bowed to him and the Zora, so he bowed his head back to her before making sure he was ready. Two people more then himself was much better. Two more arrived into the town and as things were, he felt much better now knowing that he wasn't going to be doing this alone.
The sun had set now. Jin shivered as he heard the sounds and cries of the rotted flesh and bone monsters rose from the ground. He was feeling just a bit unsure about himself now, but he had faith in his shields. One of them came at him, a mace in hand, and he lifted one arm up to block an attack with his buckler before spinning on his heel. He brought the buckler on his other arm toward the stomach area of the very same creature.

Kulau barely had time to finish his prayer when the howl came. It took him so by surprise he didn't even realize that he recognized Daystallion among the group. It wasn't until the Stalfos emerged the recognized her, and now was a bad time to show respect. He made a note to himself to remember to do so later. Instead, he had to contend with the flying bolts coming right for him. Knowing he wouldn't be able to retaliate without closing distance, he did everything in his power to dodge one bolt and parry the other with his finblade. Afterward, he would find cover in the fray, slashing at the Stalfos attacking Day, their dual-wielding being equaled by his own.
"Note to self, bring a ranged weapon next time."

Hazel eyes looked up to the sky hearing the hallowed howl of a wolf permeating the air. The earth shook beneath his feet, quirking an eyebrow up, trying to figure out if he should be afraid or fascinated by what came next. The small band of the undead rose up out of the ground, and came in all sorts of ugly forms. A small smile escaped his mouth rather curious how durable these warriors truly were. Unsheathing his sword from his scabbard, he patted the flat surface of his against his shoulder, before tilted his over to the side.
Jack only stood there and watched as three monsters came at Jin and he. Those maces didn't not look friendly. No sir, they certainly did not. His hazel eyes watched for a brief moment as Jin easily fended off one of them with his shields in hand. Tactful, but in a way it was time consuming. The air for the most part was still, and unmoving nothing for him to work with at the moment. "Oh well," he shrugged, "Time to get my warm up."
One of the remaining two Stalfos came at Jack ready for an assault, which he merely side stepped to the side two times in a zigzag pattern. Once to avoid the first swing of the skeleton's mace, twice to move back to his initiate a full swing in a diagonal uppercut with his his sword slashing from the lower rib, and going up. "Come on now, but some backbone into it," he mused.

A hylian showed up even later than Seayn had. An interesting development, it seemed that their band of warriors rounded out at five. A nice proper number, the young human liked it. He kept to himself until the sun had finally dropped past the horizon. Almost as if planned, a wolf's howl pierced the area. The Stalfos clawed their way out of the ground in a rather eerie manner, pulling weapons out along with them. Most of them were equipped for close combat, although it appeared that one of them had managed to bring a crossbow with it. Interesting considering that such a weapon would need a considerably larger amount of maintenance than the completely metallic weapons. "Perhaps we should have prepared as a group before the first battle." He shrugged, readying Excalipur and his shield.
Two seemed to have set their sights upon himself. Seayn was quite confident that he would be able to handle these two Stalfos. Seeing no ranged weapons among his group, he decided it was pertinent that the most heavily armored person in the group tried to attract as much attention as possible while the others dealt with the ones that weren't covered. Swords and shields, an interesting combination for what he had assumed were mindless undead. The young human swung his sword with all of his strength, attempting to go under its shield. Seayn swung his Impenetrable Aegis with his other hand, attempting to push the other monster back for a moment. He began to try to move in between the majority of the people and the Stalfos with the crossbow, planning on blocking anything it fired at the other defenders of Kakariko Village.
Summary: Attempted to hit the Stalfos on his right with sword and the one on the left with his shield. Attempted to get in position between the Stalfos with crossbow and everyone else.

She waited as the pair charged her, her deadpan expression never changing as she brought her sword up to parry the fiends' attacks. The light of Nenya gave her strength and speed, and heightened her already-impressive reflexes; the undead beasts never even scratched her armor.
Coldly she used the force of her parries and her own momentum to drive into the undead, hopefully knocking them back a step or two; either way, she would bounce back on the balls of her feet and spin into a horizontal swipe; when executed correctly, the move would lop off both of the undead fiends' heads. If it didn't work, she would move in and slash at their legs; even the undead couldn't function very well if they couldn't walk.
summary: parried the slashes, tried to push them back - if successful or failed, she would move back and attempt to cut off their heads. if that failed, she would move in and try to cut off their legs. if successful, she would wait for the next wave. notes: blargh. :3 status: unharmed. buffs: x2 reflexes (human racial); x2 strength, speed, reflexes (nenya, x4 reflexes overall); x2 damage done (Excalibur); all passive.

OOC: Great apologies for the delay, family, plot, and other head admin stuff. We’re back on track now!
Jin’s punch, with strength higher than that of the average human, was enough to actually snap the spine of the skeletal beast before him, dropping it to the ground broken in half. Unfortunately, given the monster wasn’t exactly a normal human either, this merely made it screech and swing at his legs with its mace, knocking him off his feet as well and giving it the chance to attempt to crawl over him, jaw snapping as it moved to bite him.
Kulau lucked out, his lithe Zora body flexing in time to dodge and defend the attacks, and his own striking home, the monster too focused on the female pray to notice the fish slash at it, breaking one of the creature’s arms, the sword clattering to the ground as it landed.
Jack’s dodge and slash went flawlessly, ribs easily breaking as the metal sword moved across them, causing the beast to stagger back. Growling low, it swung its heavy weapon again, this time horizontally to cover more ground and hopefully hit its foe.
Unfortunately, neither Jin nor Jack had maneuvered to handle the third, and its aim its attack at Jack, getting a glancing blow on his back thanks to his movements, hitting him hard enough to hurt, but not direct enough to throw him.
Seayn’s strategy, though simple, worked as the base instinct of the Stalfos kicked in and they drew up their shields in defense, his hits dealing no direct damage, but pushing them back and distracting them for a moment as he moved to his chosen spot.
Thanks to Kulau’s distraction, only one of the Stalfos needed parried, her push forcing it back a couple of steps, with her following attack hitting the distracted Stalfos and missing the other, yet the reverse following her secondary attack, as the decapitated skeleton backed up out of shock from the damage, yet the other soon found itself on the ground as well.
Swinging wildly, the skeleton missing its head and one of its arms, it swung large sword back and forth, trying to cut anything it could in retaliation, moving towards the Zora. The other, knocked to the ground, pulled itself towards the female, its bones dragging through the dirt as it slashed each blade at her with each pull to move itself closer.

Jin could feel his arm smashing through the bones of the Stalfos' spine, breaking his target in half and reducing it down to half its size. However, the one thing he didn't seem to register was the fact that the undead rarely have to be intact to be a danger. A painful sting flew into his legs and he fell onto his back, the large shield cushioning his fall somewhat. The pain in his legs could be felt easily enough, but it wasn't going to be stopping him anytime soon.
As the creature moved up to crawl over him, Joseph did his best to keep it at bay while he pulled himself up into a sitting position. If his first strike had broken its spine, he should have little trouble stopping it if he could land another solid hit on the annoying pile of bones. With his target still trying to bite and crawl up on him, Joseph did his best to use his feet to pin it's hands to the ground before lifting his arms above his head, bucklers facing forward, and bring them down onto the Stalfos' head.

Kulau knew that he wouldn't be able to handle multiple attacks. Being fairly lanky and unarmored, he was lucky to avoid the attacks and strike with his own. As the skeleton was swinging wildly, it was tough to gauge as it had no pattern, but he waited for an opportune moment and struck out quickly at his foe. His confidence was rising as he stepped back. He then remembered the ancient Zora abilities were magnified in the water, and the sacred spring would work.
"If you can move the skeletons into the spring, I can fry them!" He declared to the group, whether or not they would listen. The idea was on the table, and he was willing to comply.

Everyone had seemed to manage to hold their own, even though they were outnumbered by the Stalfos, that was good. He had manage to maneuver himself into a position where he could deflect bolts that were sent from the crossbow-wielding undead off to the side, and still battle with the two attacking him. He didn't really worry for himself, yet most of the other members of this expedition to clear Kakariko Village seemed rather more likely to be injured than he was. Seayn knew that he would be able to stop most damage coming towards him, yet dealing damage in return was the problem. He brought Excalipur around, whacking at the Stalfos on his right. He kept his shield up and ready to block as he did so, not really planning on dealing damage with his weapon, since swords didn't seem ideal for crushing bones.
"Not sure how effective that would be on bones." Seayn said, keeping his sentence short. The human hoped that the undead would attempt to block the sword swing, his foot lashing out at the knee cap of the animated skeleton that he had attacked with Excalipur. This would leave him open to attack momentarily from the other monster, yet he hoped to move quickly enough to avoid such an attack. After he made the attack, whether or not it was successful, he would drop into a more defensive stance.

Jack grinned at the triumphant strike he planted on the monster's torso. It wasn't happy. Did zombies really feel any sort of emotions or were they truly just mindless spawns from the earth risen from the dead? The blond could only assume the ladder. Either way, it didn't like the Hylian's actions, and swung it's weapon straight at him. His eyes widened at the surprise attack that came from behind, completely forgetting that the third member of their assault came at him. He flinched at the surprise attack from behind, rolling out of the swing of the prior monster he was dealing with before.
"Tch," he clicked his tongue. "Cowardly curs."
Getting back up on his feet, the wind bristled softly within the area, but it was enough for Jack to work with. His eyes glanced at the two stalfos that decided to deal with him simultaneously. The more the merrier. Air was quite a versatile ally, and with a slight coaxing, it picked up around the cavalier. Swinging his sword, it suddenly became suspended within the air, held up by the wind itself. Aiming at the two living dead before him, the wind created two copies of his blade, and followed suit at it's targets. The two copies darting away were aimed at the Stalfos that attacked him from behind. His blade itself took off in attempt to rid of the first skeleton that he was dealing with in the first place.

She stared in distaste as the skeletal warrior dragged itself along, still slicing at her even though she had floored it. By all rights, it should be dead... or re-dead, as the case may be.
Her expression impassive, she aimed to slam a foot down on the blade the thing was so desperately attempting to cut her with, and struck it several times in such a way that would separate its head from its neck, its arms from its shoulders, and its legs from its pelvis. The thing would hardly be able to fight her without any limbs, after all.
Regardless of whether her attack was successful or not, Day would move to assist Kulau, slicing with Excalibur in a horizontal motion to cut its body in half, just below the ribcage. "Mr. Seayn is correct, Ambassador Kulau. They are skeletons, and I highly doubt that electrocuting them would have an effect where decapitating them does not."
summary: Attempted to stomp on the skeleton's sword, slashed a few times to dismember it. Helped out Kulau by attempted to separate the skeleton's torso from the lower body. Seconded Seayn's comment. notes: sorry for the wait, yo. ;-; i've been busy. also, it's worth mentioning that her updates will not be implemented for this thread. she's still a human for this quest. status: unharmed. buffs: x2 reflexes (human racial); x2 strength, speed, reflexes (nenya, x4 reflexes overall); x2 damage done (Excalibur); all passive.
