To put this simply and bluntly, for those who have never played Zelda; Please, don't fret! You do NOT have to know anything about Zelda to join this RP! This is a land of Fantasy. Think Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, and other such works, this is no different.
In all honesty, it really is just that simple. For more honesty? Of the current six staff members, three hadn't played a single Zelda game before helping to make this site, and only myself have beaten Twilight Princess. Please trust me, we come from all backgrounds here and we do our best to make it comfortable for everyone.
Information that can aid in the creation of characters:
For Races; almost every race has a relatively accurate fantasy counterpart, for a prime example, Hylians are essentially Elves. Others include Deku = Ent, Gerudo = Amazon, other things like that. If you have a particular fantasy race in mind that you want to be, check the wiki pages we have linked for each race, I'm sure you'll see one that is close, and if not, PM me and tell me what you're looking for, we'll see if we can work something out~
For Locations; read the RP Area Boards to know what kind of terrain and cities are available to RP in, we have a wide variety to attempt to appeal to everyone, and you'll see most of them are the basic kind of places you would see in any Fantasy movie, novel, or game. You can even see a map of the entire continent of Hyrule in the Information Board.
For History; While there is history to the RP thanks to the games, the fact is, the last game happened over 100 years ago when this RP starts, and nothing that happened in that game will affect your history, unless you want it to or something lol Just come up with your basic fantasy back-story and it will almost certainly fit, no worries.
If you'd like to do research on more information relating to Zelda, maybe get some direct answers, here is the best Zelda Wiki currently out there, where most of the staff look when we need answers.
If you have direct immediate questions, or can't find the answers you're looking for in the wiki, then please, by all means, contact me! I'm online pretty often, know more about Zelda than most people should (Creating 2 Zelda-oriented RP sites will do that to you lol), and am the final authority on the stuff anyways.
General Setting of the RP:
The land of Hyrule is ruled by Princess Zelda, with the Hyrulian Council under her, each seat filled by a member of the different Races.
Only the Monster Race violently opposes Zelda's rule and are absent from the Council, while the others follow their age old traditions of serving the Hylian Royal Family.
The Twili used to be a part of Hyrule, but were sealed into the Twilight Realm several centuries ago, and thus do not serve under Zelda either, and no one in Hyrule knows of their existence. They follow the Twilight Sovereign, currently Princess Midna.
While the Races have different goals and beliefs, aside from the occasional clash over land, they work together in relative harmony.
However, lately, technology has begun to advance in the magical world, and many are wary of it, some, especially those who still remain religious, wish it to be abandoned and forbidden, thus causing a growing strife in the land.
