Nowadays, life for Jamie was everything but dutiful. Being free from obligations and duties just felt so... nice! There was nobody to watch over her shoulder and make sure she was doing everything just right. Her parents weren't nagging her to be serious. Jamie was out and about, exploring Hyrule as it should be explored! Jamie was exploring just as slowly as she could. It was quite easy to explore at the pace of a turtle; Hyrule was chock full of things to do. Well, places outside of Snowpeak, at least. In Snowpeak, the only things worth doing were hard to do in the first place. The Yetis made a wonderful game of ice skiing, but it was hard work getting to the top of the tallest peak... Jamie much preferred sitting by the water's edge with a fishing line dipped into the water.
One of her ventures led her to Zora's River. Despite not liking water, she was very thrilled to have found someplace new. The sound of the rushing river hitting the cliff sides was peaceful, she couldn't help but get entranced enough to follow the river, just to see where it led. She eventually came to the end of her journey by ending up in a little cove. There was a dam with a house built on top. If that wasn't intriguing enough for the pup, there was also a door built right into the side of the cliff. A door in the rocks? Just what was behind that door? If Jamie had never wanted to explore what was behind it, she would not be sitting down in the lush grass, her feet dangling in the water.
A beautiful little lake was on the other side of that door. There were trees full of blossoms, the grass was tall and soft against her almost bare feet. Though she wore a long piece of cloth that wrapped around her foot, her little toes were left bare so she could always feel the texture of the ground she walked on. This ground was very inviting. Jamie spun on her heel for a moment before making her way to the lone house.
Jamie lifted her hand and curled it into a soft fist, so that she could knock gently against the door. "Hello~ Is there anyone home?" Indeed there was! To make a long story short, Jamie met the owner of the fishing hole, who then allowed her to borrow a pole and some bait. She sent her on her way to fish for as long as she wanted!
It was so nice learning how to fish by one's self. Jamie didn't have her parents hovering over her, telling her exactly what to do. It was always like that at home. In order to be the best "wise one" she could be, Jamie had to learn the ins and outs of everything, and get it exactly right. There was no room for a mistake. But being out here took the pressure off! Jamie fumbled with the hook at first, careful not to stab herself. She prayed for a moment before she had to stick the poor little grub to the hook. "I'm very sorry, little friend, but I need a fishie!" With that, Jamie threw her bait into the water, let it sink, and she waited... and waited... and waited.
For Jamie, a few minutes seemed like hours. Where were the fishies!? She hadn't received any tugging on the pole. Did the fishies like her? Her ears pressed against her head as she whimpered at the water, one hand reached away from her pole to bat at the rippling waves. "Little fishies! Come on, I know you are there. I will not hurt you! I just want to... make friends." Truth be told, she was actually pretty hungry, but she promised the owner that she would catch a pretty fish to put in a tank so that she could be kept company. Jamie just kept on talking to her pole, her mouth aimed down at the water. How silly it must look to see a curious wolf girl talking to herself.

Brennan had walked from Castle Town to here, opening the door and locating the small lake easily and even acquiring his pole and bait deftly, passing kind words to the owner.
He had been here before. In fact, he came every weekend. The owner always set aside a fishing pole for him, awaiting the moment the tall blonde would knock on her door. She had it down to a science--he always came right at noon, smiling that practiced smile she knew so well. She knew his name and where he ventured from and knew he was a gentle, polite stranger. He always took home some colorful fish, promising to add it to his collection.
Brennan liked to fish. He liked the lake that was usually empty, the soft splashes of the teasing fish, the air perfumed with the heady scent of the blossoms. He could kick off his shiny black shoes and grin when he wanted or curse when a fish got away. He could be whoever he chose here, with no prying eyes around to assess him, with no one running off to his mother to tell her how inappropriate he was acting.
Here he was alone.
Except for today.
He had all the gear he needed clutched in his strong, capable hands. The fishing pole rested easily against his shoulder and his smile was wide and genuine. He didn't wear his glossy jacket that was too stifling in the warm weather of summer. He left it at home, along with all his rich etiquette and crumbling self-esteem. His shirt, which was still fine and made of the most precious cotton, was unbutton to his collarbone and in his other hand he held his cramped shiny shoes.
That was when he saw her. She was bending over the edge of the lake, talking to the fishies that just wouldn't come. He knew she was Minish--her ears gave it away at once. He froze only a few feet behind her. What should he do? He wasn't the proper gentleman right now. He wasn't Brennan Alexander Gallagher XVII. He was just a boy again wanting to play and laugh. He just wanted this time to himself, he wanted to be free of all the pleasantries his mother forced into him.
It's okay, he told himself. It's okay. She doesn't know me. She's never been here before... obviously.
He forced himself to relax, but even so he straightened his shoulders like his mother told him to and flashed his most practiced smile. He walked casually to the edge of the lack, dropping his shoes unceremoniously beside the pleading girl.
"You know, I tried that too, but they never answer me," Brennan teased lightly, sitting down elegantly and smiling at the girl. "They never believe me either."
He took his fishing rod with the bait on the hook and cast the line deftly with practiced hands. He watched as it shot out and fell into the deeper part of the lake. He pushed his blonde hair from his eyes and peeked at the strange Minish beside him. He could hear his mother's scathing voice against his mind, "Those filthy creatures! Animals! They should be locked up in cages or out in the wild where they belong! All they do is ruin our perfect world, bringing plagues and fleas and rabies with them!"
But looking at the girl beside him he couldn't call her filthy or plague-ridden. She was just enjoying herself, like he tried to do in vain.
"I'm Brennan by the way," he said coolly while holding out his free hand for the girl to shake. "And you?"
[ ooc hope you don't mind me dropping in! ^^ ][/size]

Jamie was in her own little world. Her voice continued to pour from her lips, pleading for the fish to come to the surface, or at least to nibble at the bait. That poor worm had to be sacrificed, and Jamie would feel horrible if it had been for naught! She was getting so desperate, she began to paw at the water with a hand. She was so entranced with what she was doing that she did not notice someone next to her until they spoke.
Jumping slightly, Jamie dropped her rod in the water. "Oh... oh noes!" The girl made a tiny "eep!" noise as she fished around for the fallen rod. After pulling it up, she hugged it close to her so that it would not happen again. This little disturbance had made her mind wander once again, so when she remembered that there was another person sitting beside her, her cheeks tinted a soft red color. "I'm sorry!" Though she had no idea why she was apologizing. She just felt it was the right thing to do.
Truthfully, the only thing she caught was his introduction. She watched as he cast his line, using her peripheral vision. Her eyes followed his bait as it dropped into the water, far from where hers was. With a sigh, she let all of that embarrassment go. It was an opportunity to make a new friend, so she'd seize it by the hand. With one arm still wrapped around her pole, she wiggled her free arm out of the long sleeve of her dress. The fabric slid almost down to her elbow due to how loose it was already. A lithe arm reached out and gently took his hand. "It is nice to meet you, Brennan. I am Jamie!"
Her tail wagged happily for a moment, but only for a moment. It was currently buried beneath her dress, and it was rather uncomfortable to move it while it was so constricted. Jamie noticed this, so she shifted her weight to one side of her body, sticking her free hand beneath her bottom to fish out her tail. How she sat down with it beneath her in the first place was a mystery. She had been so excited to fish that she probably just forgot. The problem was fixed now, so Jamie just sat and hummed for a few moments. There was an urge to recast her line, but she didn't want to scare any fishies away again. The Minish sighed softly. "Why don't the fishies like me..." she muttered under her breath.
Jamie was rather distraught about not having caught a pretty fish for Hena. ;u;
