After a very hectic last couple of events in only a day, Kulau needed to gather his thoughts. With recent occurrences, he hadn't given himself much time to think. So he went to church.
Walking into the church, he took a seat in the pew, a deep sigh leaving his lips. It was calm here, perhaps a slow time. If this were a movie, it would be the best time for someone to die. Unfortunately for Kulau, it would probably be him.
He adjusted his cloak and leaned back, staring at the ceiling. What was he to do? He needed to talk to those he trusted, those who meant something to him. But who could he trust with this information? The royal family were too important to be burdened and bothered by his personal life, and non-zoras weren't worthy, except maybe Fane, who hadn't been at his usual spot. In fact, many of his friends seemed to go missing. There was that too to think about.

Nylan entered the church in his usual attire, for today he did not feel the need to cloth himself in the garments of a priest. It were the real people of this world who had experiance, not those who hid behind a false robe and held false lies. Coming into the church, he was behind Kulau, and immediately moved past him as he stared at the Chapel Ceiling.
In his hands, Nylan carried Aarondite and the Twin Pistols Fane used. He took them to the front, and lay them on a stoold carefully. Placing the sword down, he shook his head slightly and shrugged the pain off. Valen, the spirit that had been trapped inside Fane's blade had horrible effects on those without training against it.
Looking back to Kulau, he sighed. "Welcome Zora, I am Nylan, Priest of this Chapel. How may the Goddesses guide you today? If at all?" Moving back to the Zora, he leaned against the pews and crossed his arms. He knew Kulau, not that well, but he knew him.

Kulau looked over to Nylan and nodded his head. "Good day sir. I came here wishing only for rest. I have been busy, and my mind aches with thoughts." He turned his slightly, getting a quick look at the items Nylan was carrying. He recognized them. It was Fane's weaponry, what were they doing in the hands of this priest. This didn't bode well as Kulau stood up and addressed the other man.
"Begging your pardon sir, but where did you find those weapons? They look similar to ones that belonged to a friend." He moved toward the weapons for a closer look. Yes there was no mistaking them. The blade for sure was Fane's, though it was only one of 2 he possessed. Kulau had been there when he acquired Greer's Blade, which was conspicuously absent.

He raised his brow and wiped his hands together as the fellow Zora approached the weaponry and made the statement he hated to hear. Being the bearer of bad news was always bad, which was ironic for him considering he was an Assassin. Then again, he was also a priest, so Irony wasn't anything new to him.
"Don't touch the sword, it has an evil Poe within it that is asking to be buried with the coffin. The poe is the one that filled me in on the events but..."
He shook his head, placing a hand on Kulau's shoulder. "Found him dead in Ordana, chopped to pieces with a few feathers laying around. Killed by a sentient claiming himself to be the Raven Shade. His other blade was supposedly taken."

As Nylan spoke, Kulau began to become distressed. So Fane had been taken down in his attempt to take down the Raven Shade. Now Kulau had another reason to go after him. This was not the news he wanted to hear when he came to the church to relax.
"He was a good man. Cut down by a brutal man. You say he has a Poe living within his blade." He wanted to talk to the Poe himself, but Nylan seemed to suggest caution. Perhaps he would try later.
"Did you bury what was left of the body?" Fane deserved a proper burial, even if the man wasn't in one piece. A coffin was mentioned, but whether or not it was yet to be buried had not been established. He bowed his head, saying a quiet prayer, giving the blessing of Nayru to Fane.

"Yes, Valen. The two had a very close relationship."
The tension in Kulau's manner was obvious, and for good reason. Nylan was well aware of the friendship the two bore. He had heard stories of Fane and Kulau passing impossible feats together. They had fought a great evil and held it at bay while the catastrophe's took place, and the two had defeated the Great Jotun and its possessor in order to save Castle Town.
"The body....I've seen it. To say the least, he will have a closed casket burial in about an hour. Some people Fane worked with, his family, and the Mother and Child of the man whom bore a letter to Fane in which lead to him assembling you to defeat the Jotun will be there. If you'd like to say some words I would appreciate it."

Kulau lifted his head, turning it and nodding to Nylan.
"I will stay. I owe him that much. I guess I should prepare a short speech to say." He sighed again. He was mentally tough enough that he wouldn't cry, but part of him thought it would be a good idea. No, Fane wouldn't want him to be anything but strong.
"Thank you Nylan. Did you plan on burying the weapons with him? I would like something to remember him by. Although Valen may also have something to say about that as well."

"I planned on it, but I didn't plan on the Goddesses bringing you to my church today. I propose we bury the guns, and you take his blade." Nylan nodded, turning over to the doors to hear a knock. The casket was prepared and the funeral needed preperations.
"Any last things before we set the funeral up?" Nylan realized this was a moment of mourning for Kulau, but he had buisiness to attend to.

Kulau nodded in agreement. "Agreed. Valen may prove useful. He has insight about the Raven Shade that not many have." Kulau, though, had it. The Raven Shade broke a rib of Kulau's not long ago. Though it felt like an eternity.
"Go and prepare the funeral, Nylan. I will sit and ponder what to say." He made his way back to the pews, sitting in the front row and leaning forward. He lost himself in thought as he delved into the memories of his time with Fane. The battle with the Jotun, the battle with the possessed knight as well. They were not particularly pleasant memories, but there they were. Fane showed a great deal of confidence and poise.

Time passed quickly for Nylan; with everything ready, he opened the doors and rang the bells twice. Within a few minutes, everyone had gathered at the church for the Funeral, and surprisingly enough for Nylan, it was packed full. People he worked with from the black market stood in the back, some of the people he worked with from his time at the Tavern, the local bartender of his favorite bar, his parents, and family from the whole Jotun situation had made an appearance.
Making his way to the front after greeting every visitor, he took his place at the stand. "We are gathered here today-" The speech, started as all, continued on for a mere thirty minutes, before he called Kulau to the stand. He spoke of things that Fane's parents had told him of, things that few knew. He told of when a member of his family had been diagnosed with a sickness, and Fane sacrificed his childhood to work and help pay for the medicine, the battles he had fought and won. The only thing he did not touch on was his searching for the Raven Shade and why; it was not his place, but Kulau's, and Nylan was not well enough informed of that whole situation to speak upon it.
"A close friend to Fane Rahwood, a warrior and Ambassador of the Zora, Kulau will now speak."

Kulau listened to Nylan's speech. Nothing he said was wrong. Fane was an excellent warrior, and a good man. Then he himself was called up to speak. He took the stage, giving a bow to Nylan.
"Thank you. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said. Fane was a good warrior, and a good man. I've had the privilege of fighting alongside Fane twice. When the catastrophes struck and against the Jotun in Hyrule Field. During both those battles victory would not have been possible without Fane's undying determination. I regret not getting to know him better. I feel I could have saved his life if I had just been there in his battle with the Raven Shade. And while I cannot change the past, I can do everything possible to honor his memory." Kulau continued to talk of the battles he and Fane fought. The shadow selves, emerging and fighting each other. The Jotun and his possessor, though Kulau seemed to leave out the fact that he, not Fane, dealt the killing blow both times.
"Thank you everyone. Death is never easy, and he will certainly be missed." He bowed to everyone and took his seat among the gathered crowd. Not exactly how he planned to spend the rest of his day, but he also didn't expect to hear about the death of a friend.

Nylan was aware that Kulau made the finishing blows, and even more that without him, the Jotun would of had no success. For this, he smiled. Kulau was a good Zora, leaving Fane with a good memory. Continuing the funeral, his family spoke, and it was wrapped up within the hour.
After it, when people had pretty much went outside for the burial, Nylan caught Kulau inside and extended a hand for a shaking. "Your a good Zora, Kulau. Don't let vengeance blind you like it did Fane."

Kulau shook the hand of Nylan. "Thank you Nylan. Vengeance is not my way. The Raven Shade will fall, be it by my hand or otherwise. But if he took down Fane, it would be unwise for me to pursue." Besides, he was already 0 for 1 against the Raven Shade. Even with some additional power, Kulau knew the Shade was a fierce warrior.
"Come. Let us finish the burials. It's how he would want it." Kulau began to follow everyone toward the burial ground, so that the final ceremony could take place.

Nodding, he followed Kulau outside to the cemetary, and finished the burial. Saying a last few words and wishing Fane well, he placed the in cloth atop the coffin, and had the men lower it into the deep hole. As people paid their respects and began to depart, Nylan lifted a box he had prepared prior to the funeral. In it was Aarondite. "Its Aarondite, the blade. If you decided to speak with Valen, know that he is very powerful. I myself was unable to withstand him for long periods of time."
Handing him the box, he couldn't help but think back to what Valen had said. This wasn't the last of Fane. He will return. How though? The poe was just in denial.

Kulau remained silent for the rest of the ceremony. he had said his piece, now it was a matter of laying Fane to rest. Afterwards he took the box from Fane. "Thank you, I will be careful." He wondered how his own mental toughness would stand up against that of Fane and Nylan. He would have a talk with this Valen later.
Putting the box under his arm, he gave Nylan one last bow. "Again I must thank you. You have done much to give these people closure, myself included. Please, help these grieving souls, I must return to the domain and report to her majesty." He turned and left the church, to return home.

"Take Care"
Nylan nodded to the Zora, and headed back to the church with the parents of Fane. They were going to need help with affording medicine, and paying for the burial. All these things that the church would aid in, especially for a man who helped protect so many, but never without any help. Kulau.
