Kulau had finally begun to feel better. He was able to have mobility, and though his ribs still hurt a little, it wouldn't be long before the pain would go away completely.
Having finished a few laps around the lake, he had a renewed vigor for not only making himself faster, but also stronger. The Raven Shade made him realize that he was not nearly as strong as he should be. So in addition to his laps, he started to incorporate some combat training in his exercises down by the lake. He found a few rocks and began to haul them around the lake, keeping his fins away from his body so as not to cut himself. He was managing, but laboring, which was good, because he needed to work hard and drive himself to improve.

This story's missing a wishing well Every story's a waiting game. A flower for every name. Their colors are paling. In the falling rain...
Wandering, after his last job he actually had some free time, where was he going to spend it? Relaxing near Lake Hylia. Perhaps he'd stay there and train a while. Even if he didn't it would end up being a good and needed case of rest and relaxation. Stress wasn't needed neither was worry and he could probably do with this time being filled with social activities. However.
This is Rhoam we're talking about here.
He wasn't a crowd sort of person, if anything he avoided them, he wasn't one for rest and relaxation and stress well he rarely had that. If only because he had his own ways of dealing with such a thing.
As he neared the lake however, he arched an eyebrow. What was that? He drew closer only to be intrigued. Why in the world was a Zora hauling rocks around? It... Didn't make much sense to the auburn haired fairy and so he hid his wings before approaching. At least now if he seemed stupid he'd merely seem like a curious human male asking a few questions.
"Hmmm... " The only noise he made as he approached the Zora. In time he was walking beside the creature.
"If you don't mind my asking... What are you doing hauling around Rocks?... That doesn't seem very Zora like if you see my reasoning..." There was a distinct calmness to his voice, he was merely curious and now with that question asked he awaited the answer of the rock pulling Zora.

Kulau heard a voice asking him a question. Someone had approached and was now walking next to him. He put down the rock and stretched his arm out.
"Strength training. I lost a little strength during my rehabilitation, and I'm trying to get it back, and then some." He took a few steps away from the rock and bowed, still grimacing slightly from the rib injury. "My name is Kulau. It is an honor." He was always diplomatic, unless the person was disrespectful. And this man was no such thing.
"What brings you to Hyrule's lovely lake my good sir?" Kulau was still cautious. Any man could spontaneously bring the pain to him, and Kulau was tired from exercising and still wasn't at full strength. It wasn't that Kulau didn't trust the man, it more that...yeah Kulau didn't entirely trust the man.

The Zora stopped when asked a question. Rhoam didn't understand why but the other didn't necessarily need to stop for his sake. Now he felt like he'd been rather rude interrupting the Zora from whatever he was doing.
"Strength training. I lost a little strength during my rehabilitation, and I'm trying to get it back, and then some." That explained it quite well and so Rhoam nodded. He understood and now if the Zora requested he'd leave and let him get back to what he was doing. Though the other grimaced and even gave a bow, the fairy looked a little concerned.
"My name is Kulau. It is an honor." A light sigh escaped Rhoam now. People really needn't bother being so polite to him, though he would return the favor.
"Rhoam." A nod of the head in response as he introduced himself without anything more added to it. It wasn't needed.
"What brings you to Hyrule's lovely lake my good sir?" A question and as such Rhoam would reply.
"I just finished a job, so I merely came to relax at the waters edge. Though usually I wouldn't do such a thing, perhaps it was luck that I met a friendly face here instead of a not so friendly one." The fairy now folded his arms across his chest for a moment.
"Perhaps it would be wise to rest some before you try doing any more strength training. After all. You won't get very much further if you collapse from pain and exhaustion now would you?" He was hinting at the fact he'd spotted that grimace, and it wasn't exactly hard to tell.

Kulau wiped some sweat from his forehead.
"Perhaps you are correct Rhoam. I am a bit tired and could use a rest. Thank you." He walked over to the water's edge, sitting down just inside it, relaxing in the shallow water. He motioned for Rhoam to join him at the edge, though he probably wouldn't sit in the water.
"So what is it you do for a living, that you would come here after finishing one of your jobs?" He did need to enjoy other people's company, especially non-zoras. More often than not he had trouble pretending to be interested, but now he was actually paying attention.

"Perhaps you are correct Rhoam. I am a bit tired and could use a rest. Thank you." Watching the Zora head over to the water and sit down in the shallows the fairy tilted his head before he saw the motion and nodded. Slowly he too headed towards the waters edge, looking at the water the man shrugged before he slipped his socks and boots off and actually put his feet in the water. It was odd. Nicely cooling actually, not freezing but he was sure the deeper in to the water you go the colder it probably is so he would certainly stick to the edges of the lake.
"So what is it you do for a living, that you would come here after finishing one of your jobs?" How would he explain? Well he'd explain it to the point.
"I suppose you could call me a mercenary. Though I'm not the kind that would take on a job if it involved killing innocent people. If it's to bring a criminal to justice then so be it, though my last job was playing courier for someone and simply taking an item from one place to another. It wasn't exactly a hard job and thusly I didn't take the payment that was offered. I as going that way myself so it wasn't much to deliver an item on my travels." He kept a straight face when he spoke and apparently he was more noble than he gave himself credit for. Modesty perhaps. Something that was slowly being lost with some these days.

Kulau watched the man put his feet in the water. The water was a favorite of many visitors. It was so calming so some, but not to Kulau. Kulau had seen to much happen around here, the memories were a little dirty. The column of fire in particular was a gruesome sight.
"A mercenary huh? So do you do freelance work or do you belong to a mercenary company? Judging by your description you don't works in the Monster Hunter Guild. But it's good that you limit your work so you don't kill innocents. I would hate to see that, and would have to bring you to justice." He chuckled a little to himself. He wasn't sure if he could even take the man. He was tired and still hurt. "Interesting you wouldn't take the payment for the job, even if it was an easy one. Any personal reasons for why you turned it down or was it just an act of kindness? Regardless, it is commendable." Kulau adjusted his feet and splashed his face with some cool water, loving the feel of it going down his face and chest. It seemed like a childish thing to do but as a zora water was comforting.

"A mercenary huh? So do you do freelance work or do you belong to a mercenary company? Judging by your description you don't works in the Monster Hunter Guild. " The fairy closed his eyes concentrating for a moment, he had more explaining to do apparently.
"But it's good that you limit your work so you don't kill innocents. I would hate to see that, and would have to bring you to justice." The other chuckled however the auburn haired fairy did little but give a small smile. He was very stoic and thusly it was usually rather hard to get a smile out of him.
"I don't work for a guild or any particular company. I'm simply a freelance, I doubt I would work well in a group which is unfortunate." He didn't think he'd work well in a group however it was more a case of he'd feel responsible for each and every person whom was taking a job on with him. Perhaps that was a quality of a leader, however he wasn't one to like that position of responsibility unless he had others to report to, those that were higher up than himself.
"Interesting you wouldn't take the payment for the job, even if it was an easy one." A nod of the head, he was agreeing with the Zora. That was true, there wasn't really much to it.
"Any personal reasons for why you turned it down or was it just an act of kindness? Regardless, it is commendable." The fairy arched a brow. A personal reason? Did he really need a reason as not to take payment for something?
"I don't quite follow, why would I have personal reasons? It just seemed greedy to ask for payment for such a simple task. I generally only take payment depending on the hardship of a task that has been set. Even then I have times where I don't see the point in taking payment for particular jobs." |

Kulau looked up at Rhoam, evidently his comments getting him a smile. Good to see smiles as well. The world was still moving, even with the catastrophes and the murders and the Raven Shade on the loose, the world was still smiling.
"Some people aren't meant to work in groups. If you work better alone, work alone." It wasn't too difficult. Kulau fought better when he had support, his own combat abilities somewhat lacking. A simple job, however, went faster when you were alone. No doubt about that.
Why would Rhoam need personal reasons? A good question, but one Kulau was prepared for. "There are a number of reasons why one would decline payment for a task, no matter how simple. You might have a debt to repay to someone, or perhaps you have feelings or the person who asked the task completed. Or perhaps you wish to have this person owe you a favor of sorts. But it seems you were simply being reasonable and generous, an act rarely seen nowadays." Freelancers often had a very renegade feel about them, taking any job that paid. Not this one though, he was quite the nobleman.

"Some people aren't meant to work in groups. If you work better alone, work alone."
"Perhaps." |
He only needed to say that one word in response though working in a group sometimes would be appreciated it still brought up the feeling of being responsible for each and every person working with him. If they by chance were hurt in the fray or even ended up dead. He would have to be the bearer of bad news to their parents, family, loved ones, friends, whomever it was that they wished to know. It wasn't an easy task but he would do it all the same and take the punishment that followed. After all. It would have essentially been his fault should his team end up hurt. "There are a number of reasons why one would decline payment for a task, no matter how simple." The man now looked to Kulau. "You might have a debt to repay to someone, or perhaps you have feelings or the person who asked the task completed." Well he had neither of those problems. He made sure to stay debt free. "Or perhaps you wish to have this person owe you a favor of sorts." That was something he'd never do. Even if he was in some sort of trouble he would refuse the help of those who offered unless in dire need. "But it seems you were simply being reasonable and generous, an act rarely seen nowadays.""Indeed it is, though it's something I tend to pride myself on. I have a strong dislike for injustice and greed. They only breed anarchy and chaos. Neither of which I'm very fond of, and in the end, those who play in chaos end up being devoured by such a thing. Losing themselves and whatever humanity they may have." It was clear, he was a man with morals. His morals were what made him do the things he did. Though he was also a man with instincts he could easily ignore such instincts with sheer will power, he'd done it a lot and thusly his will power to stay true to his nature was strong. It wouldn't be swayed by anything. [/div] WORDS:- No idea! TAGS:- KULAU NOTES:- ..... =w=;;...........

Kulau really started to like this man. He had a penchant for justice, something Kulau greatly admired. Despite Kulau's cynical comments, this man had taken it with tact and grace.
"If only everyone thought the way you did. Instead we have people like this Raven Shade running around killing random people. It's a real shame." He sighed and splashed the water with his fin, creating a small water arc in frustration. There wasn't much else he could say on the matter. Here was a man who had shown Kulau that there was still justice in this world outside of the domain, and then men like the Raven Shade, who made his faith shake.
He stood up and stretched out again. Grimacing from the rib injury still, he cracked his neck and other body parts before settling back down and checking his fin's previous puncture wound. It appeared to have recovered completely.

"If only everyone thought the way you did. Instead we have people like this Raven Shade running around killing random people. It's a real shame." That reminded him of the run in, during the job he was doing. Everything had been fine. His eyes narrowed slightly before he closed them and took a deep breath to cool his anger. That was something that wasn't a pretty sight at all. It was also very unbecoming of him to show his rage and anger towards that Raven Shade person he'd met. He still needed to talk to the queen about that actually which now? He was reminded of and that would be the next thing he did. He would go and see her. Talk to her and explain what happened in the woods. Ask her why she let someone so villainous run around defiling the Faron Woods and anything they came in to contact with.
All in all. Rhoam wasn't impressed, amused or happy in the slightest. He was angry, and disappointed in the apparent judgement of the Queen.
"You're quite right, and I have business that you reminded me of. Thank you. It isn't a job that I've been commissioned with but more of a .... Personal job that I feel needs to be done lest more blood be shed by the claws of the wicked." |
Eyes lifted to the skies. A stony gaze resting on the clouds rolling over head before he slowly withdrew his feet from the water and slipped his socks and boots back on. "If I were you, I'd allow myself to make a full recovery first before I carry on with strength training... Or you could only make the pain worse and actually lengthen the healing process...." Concerned words as he secured his boots and then tapped the toes on the ground just to make sure that they were on in a nice snug manner. [/div] WORDS:- No idea! TAGS:- KULAU NOTES:- bleh.....

As Rhoam moved from the water and re-equipped his boots, Kulau stood up and looked to the rock he was lifted. It certainly was heavy, and his ribs hurt a lot as he lifted it.
"Perhaps you are right, Rhoam. My ribs still do hurt and doing repeated heavy lifting is not going to help them. I shall discuss this back at the domain." He was close to a recovery, but he didn't want to push it. But he felt like he had to.
"I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors." He held out his hand for a handshake before the two went their separate ways.

"Perhaps you are right, Rhoam. My ribs still do hurt and doing repeated heavy lifting is not going to help them. I shall discuss this back at the domain." A nod of the head was given, Rhoam knew from experience that if you pushed yourself when wounded? Then the odds were that you'd only lengthen the time it took to heal, and the wound itself may in fact heal in an odd way leaving you with a rather nasty ache for the rest of your life. The only reason he knew that was because someone he'd known had done just that.
"I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors." Rhoam lowered his head in a sort of bowing gesture.
"And I wish the same for you." Looking at the hand Rhoam took it giving a handshake before he set off walking.
"Who knows! Perhaps we shall meet again some other time." With that the fairy slowly faded in to the distance, he was off on his own personal job.

Kulau accepted the handshake with a nod and a light bow, and watched as Rhoam left the area. He was a good man for sure. For now, Kulau dove back into the waters of Lake Hylia, heading up the river back to the domain. More rehabilitation was in order.
