Party Hard Every Day (Open)

The mugs clinked above them as Titania took a hearty sip, finishing her ale. After two, she began to feel the effects. It was nice, she always felt friendlier when inebriated, which was hard, given how friendly Titania was normally.

"Fairy ships? Good luck with that. We're surrounded by forests, if we had a navy it would be the absolute worst navy ever, and you'd probably be doing a favor getting rid of it." She contemplated a third beverage. She paused on the thought for now. Maybe she'd get another.

Eris simply shrugged. If one was to have a treaty with pirates she would have thought that there might be a ship or two that she had not yet heard of. "Well then perhaps if you're ever interested in starting one you can...well no, then it would be a pirate fleet then. Hrm." She waved it off and took a drink from her own ale.

Eris leaned to the side and stretched out her back for a moment before coming back to center and stretching the other side with a long sigh. "I cannot imagine what it must be like to lead a race." She gave a low chuckle. "There are times that I wonder why I even go through the hassle of running my crew. Then again those wonderings normally last for no more than a minute or so and I realize that I would not have it any other way."

Titania laughed heartily. "Me? Lead? Have you ever heard of a figurehead? I am the very definition of it. The court runs everything." She wouldn't have it any other way. She didn't like having to make difficult decisions. Too much second-guessing.

"I have the utmost respect for people like you. You love being a leader, I don't." This was why she traveled. She had a need to get away from her duties regularly or she would go crazy.

She decided that a third drink would do more harm than good. Especially with a pirate around.

"I see that I need to do more research on the various races then. I have been focusing largely on the leaders but I see now that I need to dig deeper to fully understand the inner workings." Even if just so she knew which ships not to touch and what sort of ransoms to offer, she wanted to know what she could about the ruling parties.

"I hate taking orders and would rather give them. It's a slight difference but different all the same." Eris wondered to herself how the rulers were chosen in the fairies when their queen had such a disdain for power. She did not wonder long, however, as she soon remembered that Titinia was in need of an heir. Eris looked down to her ale and wondered briefly if she should slow down.

"Don't tell me your captain has you doing research on Hyrulian royalty? Don't bother, the leaders avoid Oceania like the plague. Except me, of course. I'm crazy." She chuckled a little. Oceania was dangerous, but she had the right protection connections.

"I am in a very unique position. As queen, no one dare give me orders or question any of my decisions. However, as a figurehead more than an actual queen, I don't often give orders, with a few exceptions of course." If Eris knew enough about Titania, she would stay away from the topic of an heir. Titania wanted to hear none of it, she got enough from the court about it. She simply wasn't ready to enter the matron stage of her life.

"My captain? I have no captain. I suppose you could count the king but he doesn't really make me do anything. No, this is something that I do for myself because some treasure just isn't any good on its own. Some of it, and some of the things that I capture from various ships, have no value to me and if I know the different cultures and who leads them I know which offers to make to who." She leaned back in her seat.

"The oceans are fine, but they do not keep your ship stocked and your crew happy. I need to know where to land to get what goods, who to talk to to procure certain services or to get rid of certain cargo and such things."

Eris gave a short nod at Titania's words. "Understood."

Titania smiled and shook her head. "You may have your own ship, but you are not in command. You still have a commander, and I've seen the size of his...ship." It was big.

"The pirate's bay usually has all the materials you need to handle any sort of trouble, or so I've been told. Of course, you may want your own little crew of ne'er-do-wells to handle your dirty work. Far be it from me to judge how you run your own ship. I only have to run half a province." Her voice had turned to a sarcastic inebriation as the effects of alcohol had begun to set it. Curse Titania and her inability to sustain sobriety.

"I have a king yes, but that does not mean that I have to go to him for every last little thing that I do. My ship is my own and while I am allied with the pirates that does not mean that I have to rely on pirate bay for everything. I would rather not have to depend on the bay for pit stops when I make my plans." She finished her ale and looked over to Titania.

"You said not long ago that you didn't have to run anything so which is it, are you a ruler or are you a figurehead? I do not try to claim that my ship is anything like a province and just because I do not feel the need to go running back to the bay and Merik every time I need something does not mean that I neglect the fact that it is there."

Titania tried to stare down Eris and her accusations, but it wasn't really working. She was starting to get giggly, and couldn't help but laugh.

"Honestly I wish someone would tell me. I haven't known what my place in fairy society has been since I took the throne. I have one side trying to get me to make executive decisions while another side wants me to sit there and look pretty while the courts handle all of the big decisions. I have no problem sitting and looking pretty, but it's hard when you don't know how much weight your words actually carry. At least when you speak to your crew you know your words are authority. Me, I don't always have that, but I'm going to do all I can for my people, one way or another." She slammed her fist down on the bar before settling her chin her fist, looking a bit glum.

Eris shook her head and swirled her drink around. Her eyes were drawn down toward the swirling liquid and she seemed lost in thought. Eventually she looked up and began to speak again. "I suppose if you wanted to know how much you really meant to them you could disappear for a while, involuntarily of course. If you just left all together it would make you appear that you were unreliable. However, if you were to be kidnapped or taken for ransom, that would be another story entirely."

Eris let out a little chuckle and finished off her ale. "That is purely speculation, of course. It would be a potentially risky endeavor although not an entirely unrewarding one. And, of course, this is all hypothetical."

Titania chuckled at the idea. "I thought about it once before. Leave my own ransom note and just take off for a while, maybe hide out under a new persona and take a job in castle town. The only wrench in my plan is the people. I may not have a lot of ruling power at times, but the people love me. And I don't say that in a pompous sense, it's true. I do what I can to help out the common folk, in the sacred grove and beyond. I love my people, and they love me back." The idea crept into her mind again. Forced departure, being kidnapped. Sure she'd been "kidnapped" before, but that was for fun.

"I wonder..." she stopped herself right there, not even wanting to think about doing something like that. But there the thought was, breathing down her neck like a creepy stalker.
