It was late within the evening as dusk began to break the sky leaving now trace behind of sunlight upon the earth, but still allowed the land to bathe in it's light. All before the beckoned night arrives to wash away the day's activities, and renew the world for another day. It was this time frame that Midna enjoyed coming out, safe from getting burned yet she didn't have to waste away within her shadow veil. It got tiresome to hide away all of the time for the sake of keeping her skin~
Midna's mood went through a downward spiral of emotions ever since... that night. It wasn't until now that she actually put some thought into the actions she did, and for the most part, she agreed that she didn't regret it. How can you regret something that wasn't entirely that important to you in the first place? Now, don't her wrong; the Twilight Princess wasn't promiscuous, but it was obvious she wasn't the most innocent maidens in the land. However there was just something about the conclusion of that night that left her uneasy.
She didn't find out until later that Nightmare, whether he knew or not, marked her. That's what eventually started the whole series of bitter feelings welling up. It got to the point where she had to leave the territory in order to get some breathing space. If Nightmare wanted to come find her, then he could fly his scaly tail on over to finding her, or wait until she returned (probably wasn't going to be a while anywho). She balled up her fists angrily, but what made it worse was the fact that she couldn't find release to let go of the tension.
What a day~

It has been a while since Akira could last enjoy himself of what he enamored himself with. With his ten strings, he replicated the sound of a piano by plucking the strings, each note different than the next. His crystal eyes watched up within the air the air as sound waves floated above him, and music was being made. Akira fond some attachment with the lake, finding it the most tranquil spot in all of Hyrule, and decided to relax here. The expanse of the lake area was enough to keep himself open in case there were light-dwellers that may be wary of his presence. Then again, he wasn't exactly sure how they would take it to him being there. His last encounter was quite an unusual one that it threw him in a loop as to how he should behave entirely with natives of this land.
However, he knew no matter where he went, music had to be a universal language that anybody could enjoy, and understand. It spoke so many things that words alone fail to express. Emotions that couldn't be conveyed when the heart longs out to reach another with passion that could only come from what you hear through your ears. This music piece was quite melancholic, and soothing.
Akira noticed a little while of the princess's appearance, and quietly faded out the music until there was nothing but the sound of the water rippling upon the surface. The light tune of waves shifting within the twilit skies fading away just as quickly as they appeared. Coiling his strings back up into his rings, he turned his attention back over to the princess, approaching her slowly. She had a tendency to switch her forms, and it didn't surprise him to see her within her imp form now. However something was a miss, and she didn't look happy. "I've got two ways of handling this, your highness," he spoke, "Option one: I'll ask what's wrong, and you can tell me what's troubling you. Or, Option two: I could compliment you graciously on how malicious, and nasty you look right now."
Both options were quite true to say the least. All joking aside, he earnestly was concerned for Midna's feelings, and for a lack of a better explanation, she needed to vent. Bad.

Piano? There wasn't a place miles around that could have a piano here so why was it permeating the air? Her carmine eyes flickered brightly as she turned them over to a familiar face. A small smile graced upon her lips, watching closely at the musician going to work, his music was soothing. She never truly understood the concept of his powers, but she had to admit they were fascinating to listen to. The melody was melding, like it was apart of the earth around them, and enveloped a sort of refined state that all was calm, and peace coated the air with beautiful tunes.
Unfortunately, the music didn't stay within the air for long. For as soon as Akira noticed the princess there, she found herself returned back into reality, and her adviser's attention focused on her. Midna couldn't help but glare at him for a split second annoyed with his tongue that was growing sharp. The realm of light was changing him just as it has for others most likely. She stopped herself from doing anything brash over a joke, and lowered her glare off of him, and onto the ground. A sigh escaped from her lips before her gaze fell back onto the Adviser.
"You're quite kind to notice, Akira," she replied dryly. The little imp floated over closer to her precious twili, and nestled her head against his shoulder, not caring if he'd mind or not. It was what she needed at the moment to ease her stained pride. Her small hands cling onto the fabric of his shirt tightly as if to keep herself from doing something reckless. To keep some kind of control so that she could keep her frustration from unleashing full force.
"Its... complicated," she sighed with exhaustion. The irony of her statement~

Akira was prepared to brace himself for anything the princess might throw at him. Hell, he could have understood it completely if she even decided to thrown him in the lake. Fortuitously that didn't seem to be the case. Lost amidst her insecurity, she lowered her guard, and left the twilit male quite surprised. This wasn't like the feisty princess who gave him a hard time incessantly. Still, his gaze soften a bit, grateful that in this sense that they could both get along on the same wavelength. That didn't mean he didn't care about how the Twilight Princess was feeling at the moment - he was, in fact, very concerned for her.
He could feel the imp's small frame nestled against his shoulder, and her hands clutching tightly against his shirt. What the hell happened since the last encounter? Slowly, he raised his slim arms and wrapped them around Midna's impish frame. If it gave her any comfort then so be it, but Akira didn't know any other way to try and calm her down. Plus he didn't want to stand there awkwardly while she was laying on his shoulder. "I've got time, and you've got freedom," he simply replied.
In other words, he's got the time to listen to her, and she has the freedom to say what she needs to say. He could only pray that he could help her out in any way he can. Of course, it would suck if he couldn't, but the least he could do was try. Maybe he was going a little out of his way, but something in his gut told him this had something to with someone in particular. "This has something to do with the Emperor, correct?" he asked.

Where in the Sacred Realm's name does she start? It was quite obvious that with such personal information at hand how in the world could she explain to her adviser, let alone, her close friend that she slept with the Monster Emperor? Midna was going on a downward spiral, and it didn't seem like it was going to be stopping anytime soon. She could only tighten up her tension as if it was the only way to keep her emotionally unstable state of mind from breaking down.
Oh~ How worked up she was getting... The princess had every right to be upset because it wasn't suppose to be mean anything. It was just a one time thing, and everything would revert back to normal. Normality seem to have a funny way of slipping out of your grasp when you really needed it most.
She almost flinched when she felt Akira's arms wrapped around her. His frame was so much thinner, and the arcs of his shoulders were not as broad as the dragon emperor in his humanoid form. However it didn't change anything that it did bring some peace in mind that she was being comforted by someone who cared. His simple answer brought hesitation within the twilit imp, uncertain she should trust him with this, but what other choice did she have. He was not only the closest person to her, but he genuinely cared for her well-being, rather than serving with honorable obligation to her. If that wasn't friendship at it's finest then she didn't know what is~
"You're probably not going to be surprised," she answered with a small grin. She pushed herself up off of his embrace, but she did it in a gentle manner facing her carmine eyes back towards her adviser's abnormal blue. Trying to collect the pieces of her composure back, she crossed her arms, allowing the grin to quickly fade away. "I slept with Nightmare." That wasn't as hard as she thought it would be. Those four little words that described in one sentence a night that she wouldn't ever forget. Unfortunately, the pained expression mentioned more about that night than just the enjoyable parts.

The cool breeze of the lake caressed his back as he kept her close for as long as she needed. The nape of his neck exposed to the wind's cool tongue sent goosebumps all over his arms. It would seem that a small hug was all she needed to pick herself back up from her mental stumble. Or at least ease the pain of the impact. Whatever way you look at it, it brought relief to the adviser that she was slowly, but surely returning back to normal. However there was still something weighing down on her mind that couldn't put anything at rest completely. Akira patiently kept his poised stance, and his blue eyes on the princess so that she could release that unexplained stress.
"..."
Akira arched an eyebrow up rather interested now on what she had to say mentioning that he wouldn't be surprised with her story. With the way her face distorted itself with mixed up emotions, he could tell that this had to be quite personal. He was right in that term. The princess was also right that he wasn't exactly surprised either to find out she now had a sexual encounter with the Dragon Emperor. "Congrats on getting laid, your highness," he replied. Couldn't resist saying that one.
Not that it was in his place whatsoever to tell her if that was right or wrong, because she had control over most of her life, and the twili... but he sympathized with her. There was something there she didn't explain thoroughly that was bothering her. "He didn't hurt you, did he?" he asked, concern coating his tone.

"I know, right?" she answered venomously sweet. Even when she was at her lowest, Akira just had to say something to rub her the wrong way while trying to cheer her up. The dark sense of humor they shared was quite disturbing, but if he couldn't tolerate it by now then she would have run him off a long time ago. Back to the point at hand~ Midna went quiet for a moment when he asked her if Nightmare hurt her or not. She shook her head silently before inching closer to her dearest adviser.
"No such thing has happened," she answered, "Instead, I was imprinted as his mate." Turning her body to her right side, she revealed the mark of the Dragon embedded within her twilit skin. The mark messed with the glowing marks that were there already upon her blue-tinted skin. Midna didn't have deep seething hatred for Nightmare per se, but it was obvious he wasn't the number one person of her most likable list either. She directed most of her hatred on herself for letting such things happen, and not realizing that he did that to her until it was too late.
It felt like getting a tattoo, regardless of the consequences, only to find out later that mark was going to be forever stuck to your skin. You couldn't take it back, because it was already given away, and now she had a sign for the world to see of what she's done. However others would not look at her new mark the way it was meant to be. They would turn to the Twilight Princess, and see her as the Emperor's mistress~
Not a title she would be most proud of having.

Adaptation was something Akira has learned to accept as far as dealing with his princess's 'wild card' nature. Still, it made him glad to know that she could still put up a verbal fight with him. It goes to show that just because you get knocked down doesn't mean you're out forever. She was going through a rough patch, and needed to solve that issue within herself. Apparently, there was an internal war going on, and he sensed she wanted something or someone to blame. Technically, it was Nightmare's fault, and he needed to take responsibility for this foolish mistake.
"Take it or ignore it completely," he started, "A mark is a mark. Think of it as a scar from making an error, or falling and scraping your knee, your highness." It really shouldn't be affecting her as much as it has been. He couldn't say he approved of her choice of spending the night with the Emperor, but that wasn't his business to be poking at. The least he could do was help her off her knees, and acknowledge it wholeheartedly that she needed to move away from that. It wasn't as big of a deal as she was making it. Then again, this was his only advice he could give the princess to keep her emotions from straying from the main reason she traveled across dimensions in order to make it here in the light realm.
"I can understand if you don't harbor any romantic inklings for the man," he explained, "but this strange behavior tells me otherwise. Surely, you're not enamored with Nightmare?"

Midna was taken back by her adviser's words. At first, she took offense that he ignored her feelings altogether, and started spouting nonsense. However before she ended up hurting him for it, she hesitated as her thoughts came together as to what he meant. It wasn't a big deal. It shouldn't have been a huge matter for her to be getting upset over. Why hasn't she thought about that before? She was probably too caught up in the moment that it seemed right to get angry.
To try justifying her anger for the mistake on her part, to cover up the mistake she didn't want to admit. Unfortunately, Akira had to pick it right back up when she wanted it buried away so that nobody else could see the foolishness; she blamed herself for her mistakes. There was one thing that he was right though... she had to accept it otherwise it would gnaw at her until the end of time.
"Don't be ridiculous, Akira," she spat, "It was a one night stand. Nothing more." Nothing should have evolved out of this. Or so that was the Twilight Princess insisting of convincing herself. She would deny all accusations of getting romantic with the dragon~ There was nothing between them except the alliance between two of the most unaccepted races in Hyrule at the moment. "He is a rather fascinating specimen of this realm but do not mistaken that for love."
The very concept of love. Preposterous! Her adviser was an idiot for coming up with such a conclusion. Really now~ The Twilight sovereign didn't need love. A silly little thing meant for someone else, but never for her. She wasn't a fairy tale princess waiting to be swept off her feet by prince charming - let alone this was no true love at first sight. Carmine eyes flickered off in another direction, staring off at the dark pools of the lake, dropping the conversation from her last statement.

Was it sad to say that he didn't believe her words? The pale twili turned his glance over to the same direction peering over the twilit coated lake. How the calm ripples shook the reflection of the skies as darkness began to settle in within the vicinity. Not truly night, but dusk was slowly dying away from sight. Akira wasn't one hundred percent convinced that the Twilight Princess was firm with her belief that she didn't have even the slightest hint of care for that man. What - with the way she shifted her eyes away from Akira, and gave that long stare into the distance somewhere out of reality.
"Fascinating, indeed," he agreed with his princess, "If that's the way you look at him then you have no need for his company except for in times of collecting any further information of the Fused Shadows whereabouts. There is no need to engage in anymore trivial dalliances with that man, your highness."
Akira gazed over to the princess putting her statement into another perspective. If she thought about all of the troubles the man has brought her then she would certainly agree with him that she had to keep her contact with the light realmer brief, and to the point. That she had a resolve to find the perpetrator behind taking the Interloper's treasure before it is used in the wrong hands. That the twili's hands were sullied by Hyrule's pointing fingers of things they never did in the first place.
"He is multifariously egregious," he noted, "Don't lose sight of your objective, your highness. His involvement shouldn't be anything more than supporting each others back."

His words hit her like a jolt of electricity surging through her veins. Her tiny frame tensed up with unexplainable rage at each syllable that came out of her adviser's mouth. Her carmine eyes flared, appearing rather demonic by the enticement of her twili's words. Insulting not only her inability to stay in focus of her main objective, but the take potshots at the emperor himself.
Sure, she would admit, he wasn't perfect but Nightmare was pretty much the only being in this realm that welcomed her, and her people. Even willing to stretch out his hand to make an alliance to prove that there were creatures that could accept the descendants for who they were rather than the Dark Interlopers of ancient times.
With a raise of her hand, she latched her psychic powers onto the hem of Akira's shirt. Dragging the twili male down to her level, forcing him to look her straight in the eye, glaring heated daggers. Her small fangs protruded from her mouth angrily. "Hold your tongue," she hissed vehemently.
What did he know? He wouldn't be able to understand the similarities that she shared between Nightmare. Akira had no right to justify those reasons behind such logic. She would have thought if anybody would have understood her, it would have been Akira, and that she didn't need to explain anything to him.
She never lost sight of her objectives. Not once did her mind stray away from getting closer to returning back what once belong to her. That he could see the ideas, and strategies behind her actions. Though she would admit, she was mortal, and made errors as well.

Akira allowed himself to get dragged down by his princess. His silver strands of hair falling down over his face as a result of her pull via telekinetic powers. He expected it precisely in this way to prove his previous point before. His crystal blue eyes gazed into Midna's riled up carmine orbs. His expression remained as calm as ever. "Listen to yourself, princess," he said in an unexpectedly soft tone, "You wouldn't get worked up over what I say about Nightmare Darklight if you didn't care about him."
The twili allowed himself to stay within the standstill between then until she decided to let him go. Let the thought sink back into her mind that she fell a victim to his proving statement. With a classic example of psychological technique, he made Midna a classic example of bringing her out of her state of denial. Whether she would openly acknowledge it or not, she does harbor feelings for that dragon. If she realized this then perhaps it would make the situation a whole lot easier for her to handle.
Not once did the adviser ever doubted her capabilities. He did question though her ability to accept what was in her heart rather than pointing out the flaws and mistakes of what stood in front of her. Still, no matter how immature she may get, and how many times he's had to play parent for her, he was still on her side. Always that faithful Adviser she could depend on.

Midna blinked. Her adviser's words shaking her frame as he made his point purposely getting her angry. Just as quickly her ire was risen it dissolved like particles of water floating within the wind. Its presence disappearing from the vicinity. Was he a clever little twili~ She lowered her hand down releasing her hold of the silver haired twili then turn her eyes back listlessly to the lake.
Her face diverted of any contact from Akira if only to keep him from seeing a shade dusted against her cheeks. There was some truth behind what he said, but to accept them so bluntly would be asking to put her heart on her sleeves. It just wasn't fitting for the Twilight Princess.
"How could one tell if they're in love?" she murmured softly. People listed attributes of the global concept of love. The words they used to describe love like caring, free to talk about anything, sacrificing. The list was many, the first things that come to mind are more central to the concept of love such as contentment in someone's company. Words later in the list are more peripheral to the concept. Things like touching like brushing her slim fingers through soft strands of hair. The gentle hold of a hand with its clasped onto her own so tightly as if never wanted to be let go.
"How is it easy for you to see when I'm stuck in a haze?" she crossed her arms. Her lips forming a pout yet deep within her tiny little imp frame, her heart was beating out loud. Her traitorous palpitating heart would give her emotions way for him to see.

Akira lifted himself up slowly when she released her hold on him. With a few pats, and brush, he unwrinkled his shirt, and shook his hair out of his face. His expression remained calm as she took a minute or so to regain her composure after her fit of rage. In the end, he was right though, Midna was in love but couldn't openly accept it. Now that the problem has been established, it was just a matter of how to solve that silly little problem. To him, it seemed like a quick fix, just accept her own feelings rather than hide them away.
"It's not an easy observation I came up right on the spot, your highness," he explained, "Your feelings play a huge part in this matter. Your behavior, for one thing, fluctuates at will when he's ever mentioned. Not that is a bad thing... I'm not judging you because of the way you feel for one man." He only wished that her personal interests in the realm of light didn't make her stray from her main objective. It was also clear to see that it would be wise for her to be honest with herself as well - if not with anybody else. The last thing he wanted to see was to watch her go down a self-destructive path over silly things like this.
"You don't have to take my advice, but I am throwing it out there. You should just accept it as it is," he mentioned. Just like the mark she received from Nightmare, and the truth behind the anxiety she built herself up with. Perhaps then it would make dwelling in this harsh world so much easier than to worry about what others would think.
Of course, Akira understood Midna. He could see how much she genuinely cared for the man - not to mention a bit awkward on his part that he was the one helping her out with her relationship. The adviser didn't have any personal experience to go by in order to help her out any further, but long as she was being herself, she wasn't doing any wrong to Night, or herself. "Nobody will blame you for the way you feel," he remarked calmly turning his blue eyes over to her.

Midna was amused, and annoyed at the same time on how easily Akira explained her predicament. His ideal solution sounded like a simple one~ However acceptance wasn't something you just one day find you have with your feelings. Not after spending a good amount of time with someone did you find that understanding between one another. It shouldn't be that simple. It was quite ridiculous to even begin that such things were simple... but maybe...
Maybe he was right.
Perhaps things really were as simple as falling in love. If anything Midna could express it as a fickle acquaintance who only stopped by to visit ever so briefly. A friend who waved at you when you're passing through the streets, but unfortunately never truly got to know. It was true that she had many suitors try to win her heart, and find a spot in her reign of power but she saw no fun in the game of royal courtship, and ran many of her potential candidates off. Back then there was just something missing that didn't quite fit when it came to finding Midna's perfect match.
Something out of this world~
When she arrived into the next realm filled with mystery and wonder, it would have been inevitable that her path would cross the Dragon Emperor's. A small smile graced her lips thinking of all the fun, and mishaps they got themselves into. Thinking back on what memories she already made, she felt that could be the reason to start now rather than never to begin accepting things openly like Akira mentioned. Midna floated up over to her precious twili, and gave him a big hug in appreciation. "Thank you, dear," she cooed lovingly.
What would she do without him~?

Some things simply weren't in their powers to chose whether or not they should be simple or difficult. There is, however, a difference between establishing concepts, and handling those ideals. Midna probably knew deep down that there was something that she shared between Night. Yet it was her choice to struggle, and that temperary grief that came with refusing such contemplations that brought them to where they were now.
Honestly, she truly was a child, but that didn't bother the adviser one bit. It only meant in the long run, there was still plenty of time to grow. To become a better person out of the experience she gained now, and use it to her advantage.
He didn't expect the princess to be so forward in showing her appreciation. He tensed up slightly when she got close, and embraced him. To be fair, he should have expected some flippancy with her, but in the end, it just threw his guard off. Honestly, what was he going to with her? He returned the hug gently. He didn't prolong the embrace any further than necessary before wedging some space between them. "Anytime, princess," he spoke gratefully. "Are you going to be ok now?"

"The damage has been done," she answered, "but I think I'll be just fine~" Midna stretched her lithe little imp arms before letting out a yawn. All of the sentimentality was starting to slow her down, and it was time to kick things back into gear. Now that everything was said, and done, where should the rest of the evening go? The Twilight Princess felt the weight of her prior experience fall off her shoulders relieved that the stress was gone. It wasn't a full recovery or so to speak, but it was a step closer to reaching it~
Perhaps now she could find the strength in confronting Nightmare about this with a level head... Yeah, how about we don't rush it just yet~ She felt better now but that didn't mean the soreness of the subject healed over completely. Though she was aware she probably shouldn't keep him waiting for too long. In the mean time, she decided to kill time enjoying the lake for now. It was exceptionally nice out now that the night was starting to roll in, and everything was coated in that soft luminescent glow perfect for the twili to roam for a little bit.
"Akira," she addressed her adviser, "Would you do a little favor for me? Could you play a song for me~?" She flashed her carmine eyes up at the musician in the mood for a melody. She heard him playing prior, but it was short, and it made her sad that she didn't get the chance to truly appreciate his talents. Midna wasn't exactly a fanatic for the arts, but she did appreciate good music when she came to hearing it. Akira was nothing but the best when it came to playing music, and she was quite eager to have a song played at her request~

That was most certainly an odd request. Akira arched a brow up when she requested that he play her a song. Not that he was complaining by any means, but it just didn't seem like the type of thing she'd be interested. Then again it wouldn't be the first time he's been proved wrong. He was convinced at a time that none of the denizens of light would accept the twili due to their dark ancestry. However meeting a single dweller of this world, and realizing how quickly was accepted threw him in a loop. So he suppose you could find some interesting things along the way of such unique encounters.
"As you wish, my lady," he bowed humbly before Midna. Taking out Heartstrings, he uncoiled all ten of his metal wires, and latched them onto the ground. Akira gained a bit of distant to stretch the strings out until he could pluck at them. As he did this process, he began to tune them up until satisfaction was painted upon his face. The sounds that escaped the strings were replicated tunes to that of a piano. He played a chored or two by strumming the strings gently to make sure he had the right pitch in each string.
Then he began to play...
Akira closed his eyes as gentle notes formed a melodic line. It echoed off of his strings, and flowed into the air igniting a melding dance that only the air could perform. It was as if he could feel the keys once again upon the piano he longed to play once more. The only thing that could take the musician's soul away from reality, and into a realm far beyond the expanse of Hyrule, and the Twilight realm altogether. It was like finding breath to breath again, a pulse in time to the rhythm, but most importantly, life you could not see. Only hear.

Wasn't he just the sweetest thing~? Midna crossed her legs up in the air, and leaned back as if getting ready to watch a private concert performed by none other than her favorite magic music maker. She was quite impressed with his innovative way of recreating sounds through his off weaponry. She always found herself curious as to how his powers works, but soon enough her ears were filled with sweet lines of melodies that it didn't matter anymore.
The Twilight Princess exhaled a long sigh feeling content with music to her pointed ears. The sound of the ripples added in the background as the young musician got lost within his own element. It brought a smile upon her face to watch him just go and go as if he was actually on a real piano. The twili woman had her share of trying to play an instrument, but it didn't really last long. She had to commend Akira for his specialties, because they held a power within them that could touch the souls of those who heard it's powerful message.
Her small frame swayed in time with the beat, rocking herself in a soothing motion, enjoying the whole thing. The cool evening breeze from the lake, the mood settling music, and best of all the company playing it for her. She felt like she was being spoiled, but to make herself not feel quite guilty, she convinced herself that she did ask, and he agreed to do it for her. In the end, it was a win-win situation~

There was more to it than just the magical aspect music brought when people listen to it. It told stories, and wove tales that would be spoken for many years to come. It directed history in it's own style, and manner that nobody else can duplicate the serenity, the joys, and even the tragedy conveyed within it's tunes. This was the world that Akira belonged in. Where all he could hear was the sweet tunes being plucked at his fingertips, tickling the keys, and making the instrument sing his songs. Nothing else mattered, and that he could play melodies for hours on end.
The skies turned from many colors to a single dark shade of navy blue as the night rolled on in. It wouldn't be long before the moon showed it's face up, but Akira paid no heed to such things. Carefully keeping everything in perfect sync to entertain the princess until she got her fill of music, then he would be on his way. For now he was content that he could be of assistance for his princess, seeing joy come back within her eyes.
