APPEARANCE,Zelda is a rather pretty and graceful young woman, as the Princess of Hyrule should be. Her figure is lithe and petite, appearing rather meek and harmless to most that first see her. She always appears poised and graceful, never slouching when sitting. She has thick dirty blond hair that reaches to the middle of her back, which she usually keeps bound back in a half braid, with the front bound with white ribbon to frame her face. Her eyes are a deep blue, portraying a serenity and wisdom beyond her youthful appearance. Her height is not all that imposing, and she merely stands at 5ft. 5in. Her skin tone is a porcelain ivory, telling of how little she gets out of the castle.
Her style of choice is centered around elegant dresses that are pink and white in color, bearing the mark of the Triforce, and the emblem of the Hylian shield. Upon her hair she wears a gold tiara that has sapphires decorated into the precious metal. In all honesty, Zelda does not mind the dresses, but she prefers to dress in more comfortable clothes that are pants and loose shirts. Hey, even Princesses get tired of heavy dresses after awhile!
When Zelda gets itchy feet and feels the need to slip into Castle Town as someone other than the Princess, she uses a disguise held in place by powerful magic. She appears completely different, but for her bright blue eyes. Her hair is shorter and colored a rich auburn, and she's considerably more petite. She dresses fairly femininely, but also comfortably; her short dress is bright pink with three zippers, the middle one of which is pulled down slightly to reveal the white dress worn beneath. Towards the hem of the dress, this same zipper is pulled up to allow her more leg movement, and she also has a black hood that is hidden beneath her hair. A black belt with a nifty little pouch is looped around her waist, and she wears three bracelets on her left wrist. Her shoes are light lavender and white, with black shoelaces that cross over the top of the shoes, and tie around her ankles.
WEAPONS,Rapier. A rapier that has been within her family for generations, and now it serves Zelda as a weapon should she find herself in melee combat. It is forged from the strongest metals, and the balance of the sword is wonderful for Zelda’s usage. The design is simple, but the hilt of the blade is elegant and wrought with a golden design.
Light Bow. A bow that is used by Zelda that is the only one that can handle her Light Arrows. It is beautifully designed with golden arcs and swirls. It appears quite large and heavy, but the Princess wields it with a practiced ease.
ITEMS,Nenya. A gorgeous silver ring with crystals embedded in the setting. It was the engagement ring that Alexander proposed to her with; she couldn't bear to part with it, so she now wears it around her neck on a silver chain.
ABILITIES,Triforce of Wisdom [Leader Slot]
Gifted with this fraction of power from the sacred Triforce, Zelda has strong mental gifts that allow her to project her thoughts into the mind of others, or grant her insight into the thoughts of those around her. Of course, this is limited to only the thoughts that pass through the mind at that exact moment, and Zelda blocks herself much of the time to prevent her from becoming too overwhelmed by this. In battle, this allows Zelda to anticipate an oncoming attack that would induce three levels of damage or less, and dodge it without damage. Doing so will cause a three post cooldown before she can use this again.Telekinesis. Similar to the Oocca ability, Zelda has the ability to move objects with her mind, branching from her main ability of telepathy, but in a more offensive manner. In a passive way, she can levitate herself off the ground a few feet, and often uses this when she meditates to calm her usually active mind. Zelda can move objects with a wave of her hand, or by looking at it, but the heavier an object is, the more strain it places upon her mind and body. A relatively light object that would deal one level of damage has a one post cooldown, or an offensive attack that deals the same level of damage. For a moderate level, a two post cooldown is needed. For a strong level, it consumes both actions slots, and comes with a three post cooldown.
Nayru’s Love. A purely defensive ability that serves Zelda very well while outnumbered in combat. She summons a blue crystalline shield that covers her entire body, though it is rather translucent, the blue sheen serves as a marker for others to know when this ability is in effect. This reduces all types of damage to the Princess by half a level, but at the cost of not allowing her to use any of her offensive abilities for the duration of this spell. Zelda can still attack by normal means, so she is not completely defenseless. She can use abilities of a defensive nature, such as any healing, but that is it.
Duration: Five posts.
Cooldown: Four posts.
Light Arrows. An active offensive ability that has Zelda blessing her arrows with the power of holy. The arrows become bright and glow with the pure light infused in them, and do two levels of damage against her opponents. Those that have holy/light abilities themselves have this damage halved by one level, and those that have darkness abilities have this damage increased to three levels of damage. The arrows are rather pretty to watch streak toward her target when released, leaving a golden trail of light behind.
Cooldown: One post.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Magical Devastator. All magical damage dealt by Zelda is increased by a half level, and she is able to form a holy orb from the palm of her hand and aim it at her opponent, which is nifty as a brief distraction. (i.e. deal a half-level of magical damage, consumes one action slot, no cooldown).
HISTORY,
The only child of the former King of Hyrule and his Queen, Princess Zelda was another in a long line of royal females named after a previous ancestor named ‘Zelda.’ Her famous namesake aside, Zelda always tried to emulate the epitome of what a Princess should be like. As a young girl, she was always precocious about the world around her, and often tried to sneak out of the castle when her parents were lax in their vigilance over her. Honestly, the young girl wished to be like any normal child her age, but that was never to be at all. Her adventurous nature was buried deep, and so she tried to be more of the Princess her parents expected her to be. Studying the history of Hyrule, learning of the other races that populated Hyrule, and many other topics her tutors enjoyed showing her. Her particular favorite legend was of the three Goddesses that formed Hyrule, and of how they left the mystical Triforce behind in the Sacred Realm. Even with her success in all of her studies, her ambition of trying to escape her home never left, and she still tried to sneak past the Knights whenever possible.
The one constant in her mundane life would be her childhood friend Azler, who she had known from when she could barely start walking. Even though he is two years her senior, Zelda has never really noticed the age difference in the least. His mother was the guard to her father, and so the two would have to be friendly with each other, and to have an unshakable trust within each other as they grew. Zelda could tell him all of her wishes and insecurities without the fear of being judged. Being the Princess of Hyrule weighed heavily upon her, and she always wanted to place her people above herself. A good ruler was not selfish, and did whatever they could to protect those they ruled over. These traits made her rather endearing to her people, and she accepted all walks of life. This also included Hybrids, and Zelda was an adamant voice for them whenever she protested to her father of their unfair treatment.
As she began to grow into her adolescent years, Zelda felt more pressure upon learning to become a good ruler when her father began to fall ill. It had been unexpected and shocking to the young girl, because her father had never complained of anything at all. Her mother had long ago passed during her childhood, and so the act of co-regent fell upon her as her father’s weakness began to take a toll upon him. She had always been selfless in her nature, but now Zelda suppressed all of her childish dreams and desires, becoming the Princess that her father and people needed. She matured beyond her girlhood years, acting much like a wizened adult in the body of a young woman. Her main source of support once again came from Azler, who had always been akin to an older brother to her. For the rare occasions Zelda could find time for herself, she had Azler training her in the art of disguise, making her ventures outside of the castle all the more easy. It presented her a brief escape to leave the confines of her home, and to leave the burden of the crown for at least a little while. Another thing she always kept hidden was the Triforce of Wisdom, which is emblazoned upon her right hand. Hidden beneath white glove, or by magic, she never allows this mark to be seen by anyone by Azler. Her family and the Sages and Light Spirits she has communed with are the only ones that know of this secret.
That wasn't her only secret, though. She never told anyone, but it was rather obvious to the residents of the castle, if they cared to look; Zelda was in a relationship with Nightmare Darklight, then known as Alexander Sorel. She had met the boy when she was thirteen and he was fifteen; he was in the military academy of Hyrule, and her father had brought her to visit so she could get used to what she'd have to do when she would have to rule. The two had hit it off instantly; despite their age difference, Zelda found herself comfortable around Alex, and her trusting nature made her warm up to him almost at once. A year later, they began dating. It was an extended period of joy for the young princess; she had never felt so incredibly happy around anyone like that, not even Azler. He was her best friend and her boyfriend rolled into one. He taught her archery, gave Zelda her first kiss, and just made her overjoyed to simply be alive. She gave him Carnwennan, as a gift; it was a pretty little dagger, beautiful and deadly all at once.
When Zelda was eighteen and Alexander twenty, he proposed to her. She accepted, of course; she loved the boy -- the man -- with all her heart. After a while, though, she realized that Alex had no form of engagement ring of his own, and so she gave him the Evenstar for his "ring".
As her teen years ended and her twenties began, her father merely became more and more ill. It was on the eve of her twentieth birthday that the King of Hyrule did pass, and it nearly left the Princess bedridden for weeks. Even in her grief, she did not allow herself the proper time to mourn, as she was expected to rule. Her coronation would not be realized until she reached her twenty-fifth year, as many believed her too young to be fully realized as Queen. The full stress came upon her as those that wanted their views realized pressed upon her to make decisions that would benefit them, along with the constant hatred toward the ever growing hybrids and focus upon technology. Zelda saw the usefulness in progressing in technology, and never had she been inclined to look down on those of mixed blood, and her constant denial of this merely placed more stress upon the Princess. Even with her personal acceptance of hybrids and the pursuit of science, she also tried to balance the wishes of those that were opposed to it. It was a constant dance that left the Princess emotionally drained and stressed, and unable to keep up with her relationship with Alexander. At this point, they had been engaged for two years, but between her father dying and the weight of the throne on her shoulders, she found herself with a complete lack of energy for her personal life. Eventually, the relationship dissolved. Alexander left the military, and Zelda hasn't seen him since.
It is here where Zelda still remained, even after three years of trying to rule successfully. She struggles between the desires of all the races, and even her own suppressed ones.
EXTRAS,
-- A nervous tic Zelda has had since she was a young girl is slight, but noticeable if you know to look for it; she'll slide her hands over and over, occasionally wringing them if she's especially anxious. She'll stop it if she notices, but it's often a subconscious thing.
