Waiting in the Wings (Finished)

"Please, the honor is all mine. Your presence is most comforting in these troubled times." They reached the room where Zolanius would be spending his night. No expense was spared in making the room gaudy, with fine tapestries hanging everywhere. The bed was a vibrant white against the drapes, a fine lapis lazuli.

"These will be your quarters for this evening. Unfortunately, I have a few duties to attend to, so I must take my leave for now. Make yourself comfortable, I will check back in on you when I am finished to see that you are comfortable." She curtsied to him, showing her beauty and poise before leaving for the time being. She had to inform the guards of her guest, then make a quick change before checking on him.

[Zolanius Thyre]

"Take care, Your Majesty."

He watched her leave, and when she wasn't in view, Zolanius closed the finely decorated door. As soon as they latched, there was a grunt of pain. A small fireball phased through his back out into the center of the room. Suddenly, the figure of a transparent lantern began spinning around the fire as it fully came into view. Now holding the lantern was a Poe, Skeith.

"Zolanius, you feathered fool! What the Hell are you doing!? We cannot ask the queen to grant us a pardon! We need to kill them all!"

Zolanius stretched and shook off the pain, then turned to Skeith with a disgusted look on his face. "You may hate the world, but but not me! Fairies are pure creatures, they don't deserve to die like the rest!" "Fairies are just pretty little bugs that are too unaware of the world around them. They need to be crushed like the vermin that they are! Or have you forgotten our deal?"

Zolanius looked away for a moment, and muttered. "I haven't for-" "I saved your life! Bound myself to you just so we could pursue a common goal, the extermination of all lesser beings! Now you're going soft."

He then stomped over to Skeith and got in his face, or lack thereof. "You're the lesser being in this palace! You're dead! Embodied hatred that refuses to pass on! At least I have reason. You're in this because you don't know any better." Skeith's glowing eyes narrowed at that last comment. He floated to the door and phased halfway through, checking for traffic. He eyed that a guard was already by the door, then came back. "Fine, you can be that way. But know that if this doesn't go according to your little plan, you know what will happen... Titania knows too much." "I know..."

"I'm going to explore... Knowing the layout of this palace may prove useful... Stay out of trouble." Skeith then floated off and phased through the ceiling, leaving Zolanius alone. The adjunct then sat on the bed and withdrew his wings, concerned about the outcome in all of this.

Zolanius had plenty of time to argue it out with his spirit before Titania returned. Since she had many duties to handle, the sun had set before she returned. When she did, she came bearing exquisite foods for Zolanius. The chefs on this night had created a wonderful combination of cheeses and greens. Typically, the fairies did not eat a lot of meat, but on occasion they were known to indulge.

She entered, setting the food down on the table. She saw Zolanius' current state and frowned. Her guests were not allowed to be sad, not in her palace. She sat down on the bed next to him and placed a hand on his back.

"I know. These are trying times for all of Hyrule. But we are leaders, and as such must oversee our people. This is our duty, as told by the Goddesses." She stood up, nodding to him and extending her hand, suggesting he take hers.

"In the meantime, I am hoping you are enjoying all the luxuries of the palace. I always make sure my guests are...comfortable. Please, join me for some nourishment and dance."

[Zolanius Thyre]

Great, of all the times Skeith had to leave, I'm going to dance like a man possessed.

He stands and takes her hand with apprehension, wary of his next actions. He's adept in politics, flight, combat, and he's even killed before. But he's never had the opportunity to dance. At all.

"I hope you'll forgive me, your Majesty, if I'm alittle more than clumsy. I haven't danced at all in my life. Rare occasion on my part, I'm afraid" He then displays a small bit of his telekinesis by floating a small piece of cheese into his free hand, and he elegantly flicks it in the air, catching it in his mouth.

Titania couldn't help but giggle. He'd never danced before, and was nervous. So many guys were nervous, she wished they would just calm down and go with the flow.

"Then just follow me and try not to fall over." She pulled him up and next to her, putting her free hand on his waist as they began to simply move about the room. She didn't want anything fancy, even if he was a graceful expert. All she wanted was something that would help him ease into her next activity. If he wanted to telekinesis cheese into his mouth, he was free to. She already ate before showing up so it was all for him.

[Zolanius Thyre]

He was already feeling nervous as she laid her hands on him, guiding him through the motions of basic dance and step patterns. What was eating at him wasn't the awkwardness of it, but that she was dancing with half of the Raven Shade, the very spirit that he had come to warn her about. He was actually feeling guilty about the situation, but it would be necessary. It's for her own good, he thought to himself. He was looking into her eyes the entire time, trying to hide his feelings. Unfortunately, this doesn't allow for much concentration on the task at hand, so he would accidentally step on her foot or knock himself off-balance. And so returns the awkwardness. Where the Hell is Skeith!?

Meanwhile, Skeith was floating through the palace, learning about the layout and any kind of secrets he could find. He made his way back to the throne room, which had a few guards, but none were aware of his presence. He floated down behind the throne and phased through the back of it, acting as though he was sitting in it. Ah... A seat of power bestowed upon fools... They won't be long for this world. He phased through the seat and continued exploration.

Titania was amused at the awkwardness of Zolanius. He was clearly not focusing on the dance, instead thinking about something else. She stopped the dance, but didn't break the contact. Instead her hands found their way to his and she looked up to him, concern in her eyes.

"What's wrong Zolanius? You're lost in thought, don't try and deny it. You're my guest, and I want you be calm, be relaxed." She swung her arms with his, back and forth, a sort of childish smile on her face, trying to remind him that he was still a guest, and she was his host. A bit of a goofy reminder, but she felt the goofiness was needed to break this thick sorrowful miasma that had implanted itself over them.

[Zolanius Thyre]

"Hehe... Well, you're definitely one of a kind, Your Majesty... I'm not really worthy of your full attention. Not like this. In a room, alone with one such as yourself, its only natural for a gentleman like me to be wary.~"

This was both truth and false. Not the real reason he was distracted but it was the truth of how he felt. Fairies were one of the only races he felt was superior, the only ones he respected more than the others. And here he was, dancing and holding hands with the queen of it all. It wouldn't be a lie to say he was infatuated, but he wasn't going to tell her that.

Titania looked to Zolanius, laughing, shaking her head, and putting her hands on her hips. "Zolanius, no one is unworthy of my time. Certainly not you." She couldn't help but smirk. It's true, they were alone. They could get away with anything, as long as they weren't too loud.

She looked back up to him. "You couldn't help but notice that we're alone, could you? Why, are you interested in doing something you don't want anyone else to see?" She arched an eyebrow at him, curious to see how he would respond to her insinuations.

[Zolanius Thyre]

His eyes widened and his face showed definite signs of blush, and Zolanius took a step back in nervousness. He found that he suddenly wasn't able to keep eye contact with her, looking away in subtle shame. "Titania! I... I could never! I mean, you're definitely a beauty but it would be wrong to think in such a manner! I'm only an adjunct and nothing more!" The truth was, yes. He had thoughts, but part of the reason why he usually kept control of most situations was because he was never one to act on a whim.

Meanwhile, Skeith was wandering some corridors and suddenly felt a sharp pain in the area where his heart would be. He could sense Zolanius' feelings, and something was happening with him that was annoying Skeith to no end. What in Din's Fire is going on?

Titania quickly gained a devious smile. She knew he was thinking about it, but his position prevented him from acting on it. She stepped forward as he stepped back.

"Why shouldn't we? I'm willing, you're considering, all the pieces are in place for us to have a good time." She continued to step forward, moving him back towards the bed with her body. She undid the fur belt she wore around her waist, tossing it aside. She awaited his next move with eager anticipation.

[Zolanius Thyre]

What was happening? Zolanius continued to back away, nervous about the situation at hand. He hadn't realised that the bed was there, and he almost fell back onto it. When Titania had removed the belt, Zolanius was at a loss for words. "Titania... Please, this is unbecoming..." He was still unable to look her in the eye, but kept returning his vision to her waist, wary of what was going to happen next. If this were anyone else, he would happily take advantage of the situation. Skeith could help bring out some sort of aggression, but if he was involved, something might go wrong...

Titania laughed. Zolanius was resisting, how adorable. She would have none of it. He was her guest, and as such deserved only the best treatment.

"Unbecoming? No, this is entirely becoming of me. Certainly you've heard stories." She continued to move closer to him, pinning him between her and the bed. Closer and closer, until he had nowhere to go but forward, or onto the bed. Only a matter of time now before she would have her man for the night.

[Zolanius Thyre]

"Stories? I've only heard about your unmatched beauty... Nothing else comes to mind." Well that was half truth. He might have heard something else but probably didn't pay any attention. But he was at full attention now, and stuck, losing his footing and falls back on the bed. Hindsight can be a real ***** at times, since all he had to do was teleport and keep moving. But this is obviously what she wanted, trying to force another fate might let her down... He really was trapped.

"There are stories of what I've done to my guests. Nothing harmful, except that one time." She leaned forward as he fell to the bed. Now she had him. She leaped on top of him, straddling him with her legs. "Now I have you Zolanius" she said with an overtly seductive tone. She leaned forward again, this time going for a kiss.

[Zolanius Thyre]

That one time!? What was Zolanius getting into!? He would've taken that phrase into better caution, but something was stopping him from reaction. He was trying to evaluate the situation and what consequences this action may bring, but something like this, it was hard to focus. He was about to say something, but then the most mind-numbing thing happened.

They kissed. Lip contact with the revered Queen of Fairies! Zolanius' eyes widened, then slowly closed as his logic began to shut down. Not much he could do at this point, but to enjoy every moment of this visit. Skeith, however, wasn't feeling well. He held his head in dizziness as he began to lose his trajectory. Hopeful, no guards would catch him, or else they'd probably alert Titania.

Some part of her was expecting him to escape. Some part of her wanted him to escape, just to enjoy the thrill of the hunt. But no, he seemed to enjoy the prospect of having her with him. Releasing the kiss she looked at him with an arched eyebrow, eyes telling of the many things she had in store for him tonight.

"I've decided. The fairies will remain silent on the issue. As their queen, I must do all I can to protect them, and this is part of that." Why did the kiss suddenly influence her decision? Not even she knew, but at that moment she knew she had to protect her kin. She worried greatly about the well-being of the other races but that needed to be the focus of other races.

"Now that the decision has been made, we can focus on more important things." She put her hands on his chest and went straight for his lips again, a bit more passion in it than before.

[Zolanius Thyre]

Well this was pleasant. She had said yes, which means no fairies will have to be harmed. Though this wasn't how he expected to seal the deal. He had gotten what he had planned on achieving, now was the time. As she laid her hands on him, there was a sudden SHOOMP noise. Zolanius vanished and appeared just at the foot of the bed.

"I'm sorry your majesty... Now that the deal has been made, I no longer have reason to stick around. Please... Have a good evening." He then starts to back towards the door, watching her.

Titania wanted to be furious with him, but all she could do was laugh. She immediately stood up from the bed and looked at him grinning.

"Don't think you get to just leave after this. I give you a room, a meal, and a kiss, and you just walk out on me? I don't think so." She began to give off a distinct aura, moving slowly toward Zolanius. She certainly had her charm about her now.

"No Zolanius. Stay. Stay with me, just this night." She closed in on him, hoping he wouldn't leave. Her charm should be enough to get him at least back to bed.

[Zolanius Thyre]

As Zolanius mad his way to the door, he felt an odd sensation about himself. Looking at her visage, his legs became weak and he suddenly found it hard to breathe as his heart started racing. All of these were symptoms of being in love. His mindset was swayed somehow by her request, and he stepped away from the door, and stood over, looking deep into her eyes and spoke with subtle lust in his voice.

Somewhere in the palace, Skeith feels something as an itch in his brain, if there were a brain to be had. It was as of Zolanius' subconscious was fading, being locked away or tied down. He considered going back, but Zolanius was asking for trouble to begin with, so nuts to him.
