Dekethorn didn't know what drew him to this province so frequently. Maybe it was the decreased guard presence. Maybe the merchants just weren't as smart here. Maybe he just got a sense of giddy joy he didn't feel anywhere else.
Regardless, he was here, and he was going to get his fill of thievery and fun for the day. He did what he always did, playing the part of the meandering deku wandering through the field until the right target came up. Usually the merchants wouldn't be long before they passed by, although some were used to him by now. But there was always another new one, hoping to make it through Eldin unscathed. And as always, Dekethorn had something to say about that.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;]"What is this!" A voice cried out into the still horizon, thoroughly alarmed at the sight of familiarly unfamiliar territory. He had been here on several occasion, yes, but never was he able to remember what exactly the area looked like, hence his continuously shocked reactions, as a lighter brown-haired minish threw his arms near-skyward. "What is that!" He continued to question, aimed at nothing in particular.
Unlike most adventurers or travelers, the strange, cloaked man appeared to carry absolutely nothing but the clothes upon his back. His lengthy tail swayed behind him, the ears that blended with his scruffy head of hair flicking in confusion. Eyes wandered, with no hope in sight. That is, until the lynx caught sight of an unusual figure, that which he could soon record as a Deku. Almost all-too-eagerly, he sprang, waving his arms boisterously, in attempt to draw attention.
"Oh, kind, great, wonderful patrician, sent by the heavens," He had started, fast-approaching the leafy character until he came to a direct stop just a few feet away. "please tell me where I am and what is my purpose?!" So he might have thrown in that last bit for his own entertainment, but one never knew, the kind of answers he received to such a question were at times fun, other times interesting. |

Dekethorn was just walking along when this man started into earshot. Dekethorn rolled his eyes at the man making such a scene with his voice. At least he wasn't going to...
Oh wait, yes he was. He was coming this way.
Dekethorn's eyes showed a combination of terror and rage. As this man approached, he soon realized that this man was likely going to end up on the receiving end of a few nuts. Dekethorn took sight of the tail as he got closer. A feline minish of some sort, though it was impossible to tell currently.
As the man spoke, his face turned from rage terror to confusion. Another lost one, how do these people ever not know what province they're in? Lost in the forest he could understand, but this was a massive field.
"You're in the Eldin Province. Your purpose is to get overrun by bandits for being too loud." This guy may have set a record for getting on Dekethorn's nerves. He began to walk away, not wanting to deal with this fool any longer.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;]Despite the definite irritation in the Deku that the minish took mental note of, he did not seem to take any heed to it whatsoever, playing himself the utter fool. "Eldin," He repeated, making it sound as if he was addressing a person by name. "Eldin. Eldin. Eldiiiiiiiin! O' woe is Eldiin! A poor soul am I!" He called into the horizon, before suddenly returning himself to the present, addressing the Deku again, even as he might have been preparing to take his leave.
"Thank you, sir, thank you!" He would have likely grabbed the strange helper of his, but luckily for the latter, he had made the right choice in trying to walk away. Even if the minish had been told that bandits were going to attack him, there was not a single flicker of fear upon the crazed one's face.
As if he was about to leave his companion to himself, the lighter-brown-haired male gazed about the field, its vast expanse almost overwhelming, but he could not catch sight of anything. "Bandits, he says?" He murmured, mostly to himself, scanning everything in his surroundings with an imaginary, fine-toothed comb. "I see none, there are none?"
He turned on his feet, tail following the movement in suit, as he directed a hand at the poor Deku trying to take his leave. "Wait, wait, wait! I see no sign of bandits! Perhaps you could be so kind and generous as to direct me to them!" Yes. You tell him his purpose was the be overrun by bandits, then by the goddesses, he would find himself some bandits. |

Dekethorn was all sorts of angry and confused. This man was supposed to ignore him as he walked away, not ask him for directions to the nearest group of bandits. Dekethron had little reason to put up any sort of charade at this point, so he turned around, glaring at this man and the hand he put on the shoulder of the angry deku.
"Why don't we make this simple. I'll play the bandit crew alone, and overrun you myself." Before long, Dekethorn was as close as he could get to full-auto, pelting Slifer with a healthy helping of nuts. Fastest snout in hyrule for sure, he wasn't going to let up. He was the bandit, trying to take what little this man might have for possessions.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] He seemed to brighten as the Deku offered to play the bandit. It wasn't every day he had encountered an oh, so helpful patron, after all. Of course, there was a problem here, and that was what both of them had been planning. The minish was in search for bandits, because the deku said he would be overrun. Any person would think he was searching to make the prophecy come true, but in fact, the minish was not one who believed in pre-destination. Thus, he was going change his so-called fate, but overrunning the bandits that which were supposed to overtake him.
A strange thought process, but in a way, remarkable.
Anyways, to the task at hand. "Truly? That would be--" The lynx was stopped mid-sentence, a shower of nuts projecting to him, and he threw up his arms defensively. In the back of his mind, he was well aware that his companion was probably "playing the part", but outwardly, he could have thrown a tantrum. "Wah! Hey, hey!" He half-flailed his arms hopelessly, trying to jump back so as to get out of range. He didn't say anything else, because he had forgotten what to say. He didn't really want to hurt the fellow, after the help he had given.

Dekethorn was feeling good. He got into a rhythm and was really beginning to feel the part of the bandit coming through. Of course, he had played it many times before, as an actual bandit. "Good, good. Now be a good little victim and hand over your possessions." He had to pause his barrage to speak, but he had also run out of steam and couldn't maintain that consistency for long.
Slowing his pace down, he continued to pelt Slifer with nuts, being relentless but not nearly as fast. Perhaps Slifer may actually start putting up a fight soon, that would be some real fun for the tiny Deku.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] The minish had nothing. Truly. Nothing of value, really. But, knowing bandits, even if the Deku was playing (so he thought), if he said that, he would most likely be killed or left for dead. Nor would he give up even his cheapest possessions. That was certainly not a thing he would have enjoyed.
Better step it up, then! The man encouraged himself, knocking away a few of the nuts, trying to halfheartedly dodge them as well. "No! I can't! I have nothing you want!" He barked his response, still sounding like the frantic person he had been. Still, there was a look of determination in his eye. He was going to do this as peacefully as he pleased.
"But, but, but!" He held out a finger, as if to make a dramatic point, tail lashing behind him. "I can give you a drawing! How about that! I'm pretty talented. You could probably sell it!"

Dekethorn stopped his pelting momentarily? A drawing? This guy must have been pretty desperate to offer that. But if this guy was as good as he said he was, perhaps at least allowing him a chance to showcase his talents wouldn't be so bad.
"Fine. Draw something, mr. artist. But it better be good, or I take your stuff and your pretty face." He pelted him with one more nut before ceasing momentarily. "Hey! Get to work! I'm not known for my patience after all."

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] Perfect.
If the Minish had anything up his sleeve, it didn't show on his face, and once the nuts ceased firing, he quickly whipped out a small piece of paper, suddenly twirling a feather pen that had been on hand. Often having to escape by the tip of his tail, he was used to being rushed, so he could certainly keep up with the pace. "One moment, good sirrrr~" He seemed to purr, mostly to himself, and the pen flew in a rapid scrawl along the paper, and before the two knew it, he was holding the paper out for the deku to take, a charming grin on his face, revealing the glint of his feline fangs.
"Here we are, see! Satisfied?" The paper contained something unidentifiable. It wasn't as though it was a horrible picture, but rather, it was mysterious, appearing to be some kind of scrawl or inscription. A rune, as Slifer knew it. His rune. What did it mean? It was something unusual, that was definite. Behind him, his tail flicked eagerly. Sure, he could have drawn an actual drawing--he wasn't lying about his talents. After all, he had been at work since a young kitten. But if he knew bandits, and you could say he did, they usually didn't keep their ends of the bargain. So, he had to go out with a bang or die trying.
Now he was just being dramatic.

Dekethorn allowed him to work, not sure if he was going to try anything funny. When he was finished he snatched the paper from Slifer and looked at it, dissatisfied. A scowl formed in his eyes.
"It's...I'm not even sure what it is. Well, when in doubt, I know what to do." He began to charge an acidic Deku Bubble, letting it fire prematurely at the scrap of paper. He giggled, watching it slowly corrode before turning back to Slifer.
"Should have known you weren't worth anything. I think I'll just smack you around a little and head back." He recommenced the pelting with nuts, at the slower speed. He still needed a little more time to charge up power before he could fire at an enhanced rate.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] Drat. His plan had been foiled.
A slightly distraught frown creased on his face, as the paper melted away. Ah, what a waste of paper. At least now he knew paper would not be so effective. That left his environment. Now knowing this was more than just a game, his grin faded, replaced by an unnaturally serious nature. "Fine, fine," he sighed. "Your loss, then."
Before the deku had even began his barrage of nuts once again, Slifer leaped to the side, skidding to his knees, brushing one hand against the ground to bring him to a stop, his pen gliding across the ground along the way, leaving a line of black to stain the grass, leading from him to the deku. As he stopped in his crouch, the minish redrew the picture he had given the deku in a flash, and snapped his fingers, the ink that was once there suddenly bursting into flames, its path heading directly towards Deke.

Dekethorn was continuing to pelt Slifer with his nuts, or at least attempting to, not caring the least bit that he was drawing all sorts of markings in the ground.
That is, until the markings became fire.
Of course, it's common knowledge that all Dekus have a bad weakness to fire, and with that typically came pyrophobia. This was not truer in any case than it was with Dekethorn. As soon as the fire sprang up, Dekethorn hauled ass away from the fire.
"FIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIRENOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Dekethorn screamed as he ran towards the river that ran from the Lanayru province. It was almost comical to see him run away like that. Though the fire only grazed him, it was enough to get him in the water. He stayed in the water, cursing the man who tried to attack him with such a dirty tool as fire.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] "Whoa."
That had been a great scene of... something. The minish moved from his crouch into a slow stand, watching as the deku scampered off to the nearest river in a panic much greater than his earlier one. He was well aware deku were weak to fire, but to think it caused such a scare... Perhaps it had been a good thing that his original plan had failed him. Albeit he never intended to harm the fellow, just scare him into dropping the act. And he most certainly did, didn't he?
Another grin former on his lips, as the fire from his attack died down into nothingness, as if it never were. How he laughed, snickering, mostly to himself, as the minish fingered the feather pen in his hands, slowly striding over to the river, where the sulking deku loomed. He smiled. "Hahaha~! Sorry about that," Though he was laughing, he was sincere. He scratched his head, stooping down again to get more level with the deku's face. "I would have used something else, but fire's all I have right now..."

Dekethorn, enraged by the idea of being burned, restarted his barrage of nuts as Silfarion came closer with a laugh on his face. Fire was not funny. Fire burned, and he was wood. That's not a good mix, especially for the wood. Dekethorn had no intention of being the victim of a barbecue. But it seemed like he avoided the worst part.
Hopping out of the water like Deku could, he confronted Silfarion on this matter quite angrily.
"Are you trying to kill me? That could've actually hurt me you know. You're supposed to submit to my will as the victim. Have you completely forgotten your role?" Angrily, he switched from nuts to a bubble, attempting to coat Slifer in his Deku bubble slime.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] "Hey, hey, hey!" Damn, not again. Slifer half-flailed, arms thrown up as a wall of defense again as the bombardment resumed. So much for being nice! His let out a small hiss, jumping back again, in the nick of time to dodge the bubble he had not been expecting. It landed where he had been seconds ago, but he ignored it, and jabbed a finger at the deku. "No, nononono! Hold it, you don't understand!" He snapped, waggling said finger scoldingly. "My role is to turn the tide and make sure I don't get overrun by bandits--in this case, you!"
He sighed, wondering if the 'fight' would continue, and someone just might eventually have to be burned. He didn't really want that, but if he had to... There was always the option of running away, as it (his pride, perhaps) didn't matter to him as long as he was alive. "So either stuff a cork in it and we can forget about it, or get burned and take it like a man.. deku!"

Dekethorn twitched and thought about whether or not he could stand the artist's fiery assaults. He really hated fire, and the prospect of facing more of it was not something he wanted to put up with and lowered his guard.
"Fine. Take your victory. But this isn't over. My crew will have its way with you eventually. Everyone will feel our power. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts, for it will not be eternal." Dekethorn scoffed and turned to walk away, head held high despite the obvious defeat. He would go off in search of someone a bit weaker. These people's special abilities made things so difficult for the little tyrant.

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,5,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] Slifer remained in still silence as he watched the deku go. He had 'won', but he had never really intended to 'win'. After all, what was there to win? In his eyes, absolutely nothing. Before long, he was by his lonesome again, ruminating over the events that had just occurred. He supposed now he would have a pack of angry deku assaulting him sooner or later. Whoops. At least he didn't have to hurt anyone this time, he had managed to conclude. If anything, it was all a big mistake, but there was nothing he could do about it if the deku took the fire in a completely wrong manner. Regardless, thinking wasn't his thing. Thus, the lynx did what he only knew best.
He laughed to the sky, and off he wandered, to the horizon, to the next adventure.
