insane. insane, insane, insane. that is the best possibly way to describe slifer, as there is no definite reasoning to his actions nor attitude. he's cunning and sly, and is very spontaneous in his actions. he comes off as an exceedingly happy-go-lucky person who definitely doesn't act his age, though getting odd looks doesn't even seem to faze him one bit. he's a man of happiness and tricks, of jokes and especially known for his lack of seriousness. he's intensely laid-back, and likes to cause unnecessary drama, however he may do it. in reality, there is no definite way to describe slifer, mainly because he is all over the place. thus, insane, random, or everything would be the best way to do so. there's no telling what this man will do next, and even if his mind could be read, you wouldn't know what's coming up next.
he's got a world of his own, folks, and he's more often than not lost within.
despite appearances, slifer is rather intelligent. silly, but at least mildly smart. why wouldn't he be? to be cunning and sly, one would most definitely need to know how to do things without the help of others. a lot of people think he is in need of some kind of help, but in the end, he never really does, now. not to mention, if he wasn't putting on an act of stupidity, he would only be alive to this day by mere miracles.
as it has been said before, slifer is quite the random guy. oftentimes, he can even come off as a creeper to some, but he really isn't. he just has.. issues. or so we think. he's just too happy for his own good. of course he's had his share of bad times, but he's just too jovial to let anything get him down. meaning he's so very optimistic it will most likely make you vomit blood. what a pretty picture. in addition to that, the lynx is a social person. he likes people, and he likes being around people. to those close to him, take note: there is usually virtually no such thing as 'personal space' to him. and making awkward situations? sometimes he considers that his job.
even so, despite his happy character, he can also be rather intimidating to others, especially new people. the fact that he may come on full blast when he meets them is of no help either, regardless of his already punkish looks. he can seem a bit apathetic to others in a weird way, and a lot of times he can be slightly reclusive and snippy. in reality though, he's just a very independent guy. being homeless, slifer is adaptable: ready to perform or attempt any kind of job, whether he has experience in doing so or not.
he's not a clumsy idiot either, so he can actually do decent jobs every now and then. however, the main problem one is to expect from him is either finding him (for he tends to slack on the job), or persuading him to even work. more often than not, he'll want to go explore and have fun. even so, when the going gets tough in desperate times, you can count on him. he likes scheming up devious plans, or coming up with new ideas, most of which cause problems and unnecessary trouble. he dislikes accepting that fact though, and will often deny failure.
when faced with a fork in the road, or a choice to make, slifer will undoubtedly do his best to deliberately (or not) stay the middle man. he doesn't like to make important decisions, and will often plea for help when forced to do so. trying to get a straight answer from him is night impossible without threats, (unless you don't mind and have the patience of being answered with questions or avoiding questions) and even then, you'll only likely get a jumbled mess of frantic words.
APPEARANCE,even at first glance, one can see that slifer is without a doubt, an odd character. his dress seems formal, and for the most part, casual: if anyone with a sense of nobility looked upon slifer, they would likely think him to be some kind of wandering homeless cat, which, in a sense, is just what he is, draped in what could commonly be called a cloak bearing a high collar, with several more layers of cloth beneath. fingerless gloves also wrapped around both hands. as if to add on to this oddity, slifer's left eye is usually often concealed, be it by a bandana tied around his head, or by a strangely broken, stone-like mask, bearing a strange inscription.
as a minish, somewhat connected with nature, he doesn't particularly care much for his wardrobe -- as long as it covers him and is decent, he's perfectly fine with what he has, although don't believe for a moment that he's a filthy mutt. even he knows the borders of cleanliness and filth, and still manages to keep his appearance relatively well enough, though he does seems somewhat rugged and shabby.
along with his clothes, slifer's general appearance has an earthly sense to it. a gentle, neutral mix of browns and greens, he stands at an easy six feet on the dot, and, being a minish, is nearly lightweight, but with a little bit of muscle with his build to add on, totaling at one hundred and seventy-six pounds. there are times when he can appear young, yet at other times, he can appear tired and worn-out, older. His hair bears an almost-wild mess of light brown hair, commonly mistaken for a dirty grayish colour. his eyes are narrowed, almost with a lazy droop to them, but with their own sort of charm, his irises of a similar lighter brownish-gray, once again reiterating his earthen theme.
with his minish abilities, slifer also has a pair of small, pointed ears at the top of his head, that which nearly blends in with his hair. the tail at his rear is long and winding, almost like a whip, lashing back and forth. as predictable, it bears the same colour as the rest of his hair and fur, but its tip also fades into a soft snowy white. let's not also forget that slifer also bears his feline fangs, and he does bite. in addition to his outward appearance, both of slifer's hands hide between his knuckles sets of three retractable claws, just between the knuckles of his fingers, ultimately like a cat. its structure and how it works is just like a cat, and it can retract, so as to not hurt anyone, obviously, and are just a bit longer than his fingers (starting at the knuckle, roughly four inches). although they are his weapons, they can also be considered his greatest weakness. break one, or damage it in any way, it causes an excruciating amount of pain for him, and will most likely be rendered useless for a lengthy period of time, as well as his hand.
if it wasn't noted earlier, slifer's animal counterpart is that of a lynx. his alternate form is a standard lynx, with light brown-gray fur, and a swift and agile build. there is nothing much else to say.
WEAPONS,» NO WEAPONS,
at least, no legitimate weapons... yet.
ITEMS,» PAPERS,
or rather, a stack of papers bound together to make a notebook, making it easier to carry around. slifer is known to use these for artistry, cartography (which is really, really horrid, mind you), or even notes. along with full sheets, slifer also carries many slips of paper.
» FEATHER PEN & INK,
a pen made by a roc's feather, there'd be no point in having paper if he had nothing to write with. obviously, being an ink pen, there also needs to be a supply of ink, which slifer always has with him in a small bottle.
ABILITIES,» ANIMATION I
when slifer draws a picture of purely ink or something not engraved or embossed into the drawing surface (i.e., blood on paper may also work; drawing pictures in dirt or carving into a rock do not), slifer can, in essence, bring said picture to 'life'. at current, the drawings to not gain an actual form and become life-sized, but rather, 'peel' off of the paper, remaining 2-D, yet able to stand, and formed of whatever media was used. remember flat stanley? you could say these are similar to him, only animation uses just the outlines of the drawing: whatever he has drawn is what he gets.
slifer refers to them as anima for short.
they do not bear minds, and are not necessarily 'alive'. slifer is only commanding them himself. naturally, at this point, anima are more like pets. they can't deal damage, and are more of a form of entertainment and distraction at this level. at most, he can only have two anima at once, and last for about three posts. once expended, they 'dissolve' into nothingness, with a cooldown of two posts.
» FABRICATION I
by drawing a particular magic rune with whatever media he can get his hands on, be it ink, dirt, sand, blood (carvings are invalid, however), slifer can, in a sense, control the 'artificial' element he creates with it. said elements and manipulations are manifested from his own energy, meaning he can use it as long as he doesn't kill himself off from exhaustion. put simply, it works as such: there is a specific rune slifer has memorized, and upon drawing it, the element associated with the rune can do one of two main things: attach itself as an attribute to whatever it was drawn on, or be utilized as some form of attack, or even defense, in itself. if there is another variation, it will be explained.
the runes themselves are mildly complex, and are specifically his, meaning if anyone else tried to draw them, nothing would happen. there is no activation or waiting time of the sort; he can draw and utilize the ability in one post, for however long it lasts. to activate a rune, on that note, doesn't take anything much but a snap of his fingers, or some sort of chant or shout or motion.
when drawn and set as an augmentation, the rune more or less acts as a thin 'armor', or layer, of whatever element he has drawn. for example, if a rune is drawn on a weapon (i.e. flaming sword), body part, (as in arm, forearm, hand, leg, upper leg, ankle, foot, torso, etc.) or whatever, said item will be, say, covered in a veil of flames (it would be best to note, though, that elements like fire can and will deal damage, even if drawn on slifer himself, if done mindlessly. words of advice? try not to get close to him if in combat, lest you want your hand on fire). also, it is not required to draw a rune directly on an object to attribute it. slifer is also able to draw a rune on something such as paper and wrap it around said object to attribute it. attribution runes, when activated, will last three posts.
when drawn and set to manipulation, a line of motion is required, else the element will just be 'summoned' and sit there as a stationary pool. a manipulation attack is merely like a regular attack, (half a point of damage ls-wise) but with an element, and once activated, it only lasts for one post then disappears (think a sword slash, or hammer swing, etc). so, to use runes in this manner, slifer must draw the rune, and afterwards an unbroken line, connecting with the rune in some way, in whichever motion he wants. if he wanted it to go straight forward, a line in front would suffice. if he wanted it to act as a snake spiraling upwards (i.e. a pillar), he would simply draw multiple circles around it, or if he wanted it to curve and turn, he would draw a curved line, so on and so forth. the one exception is for if he wanted to create a wall, he is allowed to draw a line directly across the rune itself.
if a rune is drawn and left dormant (meaning slifer has yet to activate it), if distorted, smudged, or cleaned off, it will be rendered ineffective. doing such while a rune is active will have the same effect, but is clearly a more dangerous stunt to pull off. slifer is able to have a total of four attribution runes simultaneously, but only one manipulation rune. once one rune is expended, there is a two post cooldown until he can activate another (implying that writing dormant runes is possible while waiting for the cooldown). a dormant rune will only last four posts. if not activated within the limit, it will be rendered useless. if there are more than one dormant rune on the field, all will be activated simultaneously with one command, meaning they cannot be activated separately. runes will vanish when used up or destroyed, no no graffiti or damage is dealt (that should really be the least of one's worries, though).
as implied, to incinerate is to burn; meaning this rune is connected to fire. in addition to attributing or manipulating, slifer can store up energy withing a fire rune, and then release it at the right moment for some unexpected fire damage. for instance, instead of attributing a rune to his claws and setting them aflame for a stronger punch, he could set and store a fire rune to his claws, and when clawing a tree, a light trail of fire would be left in the path he carved out of it, or, he can cause a small explosion (moderate damage), even though said claws are not on fire.
slifer himself refers to said technique as fireburst.
although it does give an added punch to his attack, the fire itself wouldn't be so powerful as to set the whole tree ablaze, mind you. the flames themselves would eventually die on their own, and most likely won't spread either, unless someone caused something for it to be able to do so. fires will only last about two posts before extinguishing.[/ul][/blockquote]
RACIAL ABILITIES,
» SHAPESHIFTING,
each minish has one animal form; this animal form affects their normal appearance, which is that of a human with some animal influence (the degree varies, and is up to you; you can have your cat-minish have cat-ears and a tail or be covered in fur, whatever you like). however, the minish also have the ability to transform, in two different ways:→ animal form: each minish can fully take on the animal form that they are connected to. if that animal is large (think something like a bear or a lion), then their physical attacks do more damage (an extra level). if that animal is small, they gain a speed increase (an extra action slot), but receive a little more damage than usual (an extra half-level of physical damage) whenever they are hit by a physical attack. for both sizes, the minish cannot activate any magical weapons or items (unless those weapons/items specifically allow it). the animal form lasts for three posts and then has a cooldown of three more posts.
→ invisibility: the minish temporarily turns invisible, meaning the enemy cannot target them in the next turn; if they find themselves in an area-of-effect attack, they are still vulnerable, however. meanwhile, a physical attack used while invisible deals more damage than usual (an extra level of damage). invisibility only lasts for one turn, and has a cooldown of five posts.
HISTORY,
originating from the forest, as most of his kin, silfarion lafrenze was a boisterous child. he was always happy-go-lucky, and thanks to that, many of his relatives and friends believed him to have been born without a mind. not because he was stupid, because he was, in fact, smart enough, but because he often acted like he had lost it. fellow children were told to stay away, parents worried for his sake, but none of that seemed to phase him. he approached others with the stupidest grins, he (perhaps arbitrarily) played around with everyone, and eventually, they all gradually grew used to him, now seeing that despite his quirks, he was still 'a good kid.'
when he was young, slifer had a knack for art. he liked to stand atop cliffs and scan the horizon, he often stared towards the sky, simply because it was so mesmerizing. in short, he was dazzled by nature's beauty, and from there, he decided his own future. he wanted to see more of the world, and the other wonders that it held. nothing short of a typical dream, but he wanted to do it anyways, and he worked to do so. his parents refused to let him travel, though, so instead the young minish planned to save up for when he could officially leave, with our without their permission.
unfortunately, being the person he was, he spent most of his early teen years messing around and practicing random things, mostly including art. it was also around then that the young slifer found a strange mentor in his quaint village, a cartographer, and also, a magician. it was only all too predictable to know that slifer would be immediately engrossed with studying under the stranger, whom with he soon developed a close bond with, that which was almost unbreakable.
then, the time finally arrived. slifer was seventeen, and though he was considered a year too early, his parents decided that it would be okay for him to be on his own now. after all, they taught him what he needed to know, and he had also learned his own magic. that was when his real story began.
of course, as a beginning adventurer, slifer made many mistakes, but he was also able to quickly get back up and learn from them. he got himself in trouble many times, but there was never anything serious save for one particular incident, rendering his left eye half-blind and marred when he had a literal cat fight with a rather gruesome feline as he was traveling along a mountainside. slifer has no personal issues with it himself, but for consideration of others, he more often than not chooses to conceal it.
also thanks to the fact that he was 'all play and no work' in the past, he used up what little scrapings he held in an instant, and wanders as he does to this day: usually beseechingly requesting the help of others, of course making sure to return the favor whenever possible.
EXTRAS,
as implied, silfarion is more commonly known as slifer.
slifer is ambidextrous, mostly for his 'profession', as well as his ability.
he can consume large amounts of liquor without getting tipsy.
somewhat of a freelancer, likes to deliver things like a mailman, actually.
he can and will throw tantrums if provoked, be it on the floor, on tables or countertops, whathaveyou.
he has a horrible sense of direction, which may as well explain his homelessness and almost-hobo-esque nature.
