Of all the places in Hyrule, Vaan felt the ocean got the least attention. A sad fact it was indeed, because the ocean had a very majestic, very wild beauty to add to Hyrule's landscape, and it was widely underpopulated. In fact, even in the evening, as dusk began to cover the land, and the sky turned a pale, dark blue, most people had already left. There were still a few, some families, that were enjoying every minute of light they had left. Vaan appreciated those people; they were the ones that truly appreciated the beach's raw beauty.
And dusk, above all, was Vaan's favorite time of the day. He absolutely loved it: the color of the sky, the soft breeze, how it looked on the water... He never wanted to leave, and he also never wanted the time to change. Sighing heavily, Vaan made his way to the waterfront, slipping his shoes off so he could step carefully into the tide and let the feel of the water overcome his being. It was soft and caressing, a feeling he loved more than almost anything. Vaan shoved his hands in his pockets and looked out to the sea, yawning a huge, sleepy yawn. Perhaps he'd have company soon, or someone to talk to. It had been a slow day, and it was something he hoped for earnestly.
Carelessly, the young and very lazy man scratched the back of his head, wondering where he'd go tonight. He didn't want to go home, so perhaps he'd sleep on the beach. Fortunately he didn't care how that looked to everyone else, so he would be okay with it. The gracious sound of the ocean could lull him to sleep easily. Debating this, Vaan took a seat on the beach, his feet still in the water, and prepared to take a nap.

[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] The Oocca wasn't much of a swimmer, nor was she a fan of the beach, but what did that matter? What mattered was that she was here and downright bored. Well, in the least to say, she couldn't not ignore the charming view, but still, that was all the beach really had: A great view. Maybe some monsters lurking in the ocean, but diving underwater wasn't all that much of a brilliant idea. The sky above was darkening quickly, but she didn't care or seem to mind. Any time of day was suitable for her.
What she hadn't expect that day, as she idly combed the edges of the beach, was a small figure, at first walking towards the sea, then gradually returning to sit on the shore. In all honesty, she didn't think there were many people out there who liked being out at night, save for drunkards and ruffians, or people like herself. Even from afar, the silver-haired woman could take note that the figure was pretty young--not that she was calling herself old, of course not. A kid, just some years younger than her, probably, which probably might explain why he was out so late, yet not at all. No parents to worry? Or was it something else?
It was as she was walking that she realized the latter was going to get in her way. For being the person she was, she refused to stray from her original path, even though there wasn't really a 'path' for her to follow. Just the line she had drawn in her mind to walk along the beach. Eventually, she found herself correct, her feet shuffling to a stop in the sand as the oocca found herself irritably standing beside the young man, whom appeared to be trying to sleep. Too bad for him, she supposed.
"Hey," she called, rather briskly, crossing her arms. "Are you going to keep laying there, getting in my way, or should I just walk over you?" And call you a pervert at that? Blunt, perhaps, but she wasn't one to beat around the bush.

Vaan let out a loud snore as the woman attempted to speak. He drooled out of the corner of his mouth and rolled over a bit, having finally fallen into a wonderful sleep, before the woman's voice woke him. Turned on his side, away from the woman, he slowly opened his eyes and experimentally pressed his lips together to smack the sleep out of his being. He squinted, forcing himself back into reality, and rolled back over, facing the woman, who was wea--oh shit, Vaan thought, and his eyes sprang open; two intense green orbs of a slight luminescence stared at her in anxious fear. Quickly he stumbled to his knees; he had almost accidentally seen up her skirt in his sleepy rumblings.
"Um..." He began, rather blankly, as he sheepishly scratched the back of his head. She was bold and independent; that much could be seen from her face, perhaps a proper index of the woman's mind, all being told through a mere facial expression and the folding of her arms. Vaan offered a weak smile in an attempt to placate the woman who seemed rather angry at his presence. He did find it rather strange that she seemed to be upset about his whereabouts; in fact, they were, at this point, almost the only two left on the beach.
The young man coughed, clearing his throat, and stood up, becoming taller than she, and brushed himself off of the sand. Yawning heavily, he stared her in the eyes with a blank expression of carelessness. He hadn't, having been asleep, heard her comment about walking over him. So to Vaan, she hadn't yet spoken. He offered her his hand in an amiable attempt to receive a handshake. "Er, hello!" He said weakly, another sheepish chuckle in his voice.

[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] Yeah. She had expected this. Only crazy people or complete weirdos, or perhaps even idiots would attempt to sleep on the beach as the sun went down. Maybe she should have mugged him instead, while he was napping? Then again, she wouldn't have known if he was truly sleeping, or easily awakened. Upon her approach, she earned a somewhat delayed response, until the light-haired male sprang up and to his knees. Examining the boy strangely, he seemed confused, which made her mentally give a weary sigh. He obviously didn't hear her, and she didn't want to repeat herself.
So what was she to say to that? Absolutely nothing. It wasn't the silent treatment or anything, it was simply because of the fact that she had nothing to say. He smiled, she continued to stare, and he stood, giving her a moderately false hope that perhaps he was going to move out of the way after all. Instead, a hand extended, a greeting given.
If that wasn't awkward enough to instill shouted cursings in her mind, well, perhaps the phrase would be completed some other time. After thinking things through, she supposed it wasn't like she was in a hurry to get anywhere. The oocca gave a small nod of her head, but didn't seem to move to return the male's handshake. "'Sup," Was what she said, leaving it at that.

"Um..." Vaan awkwardly lowered his hand, moving it to scratch the back of his head sheepishly. Had she seriously just denied a handshake? Vaan wasn't certain what kinds of people would neglect to do such a thing-- probably the same time to actually say 'sup'-- but nonetheless, he looked past the awkward moment as a failure on his part to be a social being effectively. He sighed heavily.
Another thing that bothered Vaan was people's lack of using words properly. In all honesty, he hated the "word" sup, and disliked it when used by anyone, even those close to him. He wouldn't let his distaste show in his facial expression, he knew that much. He wanted to remain a nice guy as much as possible, and getting off on the wrong foot could land him in some undesirable places, that much was certain.
"Actually," He began, a friendly tone in his voice. "I was taking a nap, but I guess I could do that at home. Uh, not many people are out here this late. I come out here because it's more serene that way-- not that, er, I don't want you here or anything. But why are you here?" He chuckled at the end, and then yawned another very heavy yawn. The young and curious Hylian was interested as to why someone would wander out here simply to wake him up.
