Daystallion was generally a patient woman. But then, she was also generally a calm woman, and right now, the dragoness was neither patient nor calm. She paced back and forth along the edge of the volcanic mountain, alternately muttering quiet prayers to the goddesses and vague swear words about Nightmare Darklight.
The heat didn't bother her, and judging by the still form of Princess Midna, it didn't bother the Twili either. Daystallion had laid the blue-skinned woman out neatly in an equal distance from both the edge near the volcano and the edge near the sheer face of the mountain. She couldn't roll over and fall off either side, and because of the cloudy, ashen sky, the sunlight would not affect the woman either. Except for her slight illness brought on by an overexposure to light (and her close proximity to one who detested Twili), the Sovereign was as safe and healthy as could be.
Blond locks fluttering in the slight breeze and her grip a tad too tight on the hilt of Excalibure, Daystallion paced, awaiting the arrival of the Emperor.

"You have allowed this 'Dark Lord' to twist your mind until now... Until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy..." He wasn't playing. He'd found the message. Granted, it was a rather odd one. Couldn't she have just written a note? And furthermore, why'd it have to take place all the way out at Death Mountain? Why not wait in the throne room? Or his bedroom? Or the mirror? He didn't understand her logic. Then again, considering she actually had the gall to go and kidnap Midna, she probably wasn't thinking all that logically right now. She was expecting him to show up and sure, he'd give her that. But the truth was that this would go in a completely different direction than she was hoping for. As he homed in at the top of Death Mountain, he noticed Day waiting for him, along with Midna, laying on the ground. Did Day hurt her? What was going on? Flying in just above them, he reverted to his human form, landing quite gracefully on the top of the volcano, just a few yards away from both his vanguard and the princess. Immediately, he moved towards the latter, strolling on over to her position, ignoring his foil completely. He had no intention of bothering with Day until he was aware that Midna was alright. If anything, he'd rather get the princess out of here without even having to acknowledge his foil's existence, as if to humiliate her. Isn't it sad, Daystallion? Nightmare knelt down and cradled the unconscious princess. Grasping her hand, Nightmare felt for a pulse, relieved that he got one fairly quickly. At least she was alive. But Day had hurt her, he knew that much. No injuries. Daystallion must've hid her head on with her breath. It was only worsened that Midna seemed to be weak to light. But he needed the princess to wake up. He hadn't forgotten Day, but right now, his priorities were on getting Midna up and out of here. So in order to help wake her up, Nightmare just pinched and held down her nose.

Her breathing was considerably shorten, and it felt like an effort in itself to gather air. Her unconscious state was desperate to keep her being in existence, to survive, to keep living despite being on the edge of what felt like death in itself. The very thing she knew she could not grasp yet so quietly yearned for, once again, took her out in a blink of an eye. Within the vastness of the mental space locked within a sort of limbo within the depths of her mind, she contemplated if Nightmare would truly come to her rescue. Most likely, but if he did, he would be nothing more than a fool.
Why would she think this? Well, for one, Daystallion had more than one thing up her sleeves than just kidnapping the Twilight Princess in the first place. Midna wasn't convinced that she only needed the twili in order to go about her plan successfully. A trap was being made, something far more devastating than the treatment she received earlier. One that could possibly kill her newly formed ally...
Why did her chest feel so tight all of a sudden? The princess realized that her body was being constricted of any motion whatsoever thanks to her air supply being cut off. A flash of light wrapped around her conscious before her carmine eyes shot open. A large gasp escaped from her lips as her entire body flinched before everything began returning back to order. "Whoa..." she groaned, getting double-vision, everything was spinning around, "N-Night... Where the hell you've been?"
Despite her teasing, she was actually glad he came~

Oh, wonderful. He arrives and he just ignores the woman who kidnapped Princess Midna. Just wonderful. And he woke the princess up, no less. No matter. Day highly doubted that Midna would be of much help in her weakened state.
If it was Nightmare's aim to completely ignore Daystallion and run, he would find that rather difficult to do. The Vanguard had no intention of playing fair, as Nightmare would most definitely win in a fair fight, even with the goddesses at Day's side. So yes, Day would cheat and lie and be rude to usurp the Emperor. At this point, she had no boundaries. She had to prove herself. She had no choice.
Saying nothing, giving no word or warning or acknowledgement of what was about to happen, Daystallion strode forward and aimed to stab Nightmare in the back.

"You have allowed this 'Dark Lord' to twist your mind until now... Until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy..." She was awake. Tired though. He released his grip on her nose, giving the princess a genuine smile as she started to come to. "I know, I know..." He whispered, brushing a bit of her hair out of her face. He knew that this was his fault, that if he had never run into Midna, Day would've never dragged her into his problems. But, there was nothing he could do about it now, she had been sucked in. The most Nightmare could do was try and mitigate the damage, or at least find a way to keep her from getting in any further trouble. He just hoped that people targeting her to get to him wouldn't become a common issue. However, he picked up on the footsteps from Day's armored feet. Thankfully, that armor made it rather easy for him to hear her. Scooping Midna into his arms, he looked back at Day, and moved before the stab could go through. This was unusual. Day had always been about honor, feeling that beating him with his own tricks was well, bad. The fact that she was starting to take a few more cheap shots, act more like him, was unsettling. It meant that if he let her go, she'd just come back and come after him again. That meant that, God forbid, she might actually target Midna again. That couldn't happen. He'd have to put her down. Coming to a stop, he knelt down so that he could set Midna on the ground without dropping her. "Don't interfere, alright? You're in no condition to fight and this is my problem. Not yours." He requested in a soft voice. This was rather unlike him. He wasn't being brash, or arrogant, or anything. He was actually being nice. It probably helped that he was completely furious to the point where he went so far past angry he ended up straight in calm. Rising to his feet, he stepped over Midna, standing in front of her, blocking the way between the princess and Day. If she was acting more like him, then he couldn't really stray that far. Otherwise, Day would just target Midna again. Needless to say though, there was no humor for him right now. "You know, I've never really been bothered by you. You just tried to bring me down in your own way. Never working of course." He confessed. He never really gave her any credit. The fact that she consistently failed to bring him down just put him in a state of security. He had actually been using her to keep from having to deal with other title challenges. Nightmare glared at his vanguard, crossing his arms in an obviously superior tone. "But, this is where I draw the line. Dragging other people in just to solve your own problems? Even I don't pull that crap." He was going to break her. He was going to shatter anything she had and destroy her will to live. "You gave yourself the name Daystallion Lightdark as a way of defying me. In truth, you've just been in denial. Taking such a cheap route to bring me down? You're no different than I am."He didn't even get into a fighting stance. He was just going to wait for her to make the first move. But, he had to make sure she actually would attack him. He still had one rather nasty truth to reveal to her, at least to hopefully push her over the edge. "Here's the reality; every single time, I have just been ****ing with you. Each time I have been holding back immensely." Nightmare very rarely went all out against someone. And he never bothered with Day because she was a vanguard. He didn't want to kill her. "That ends now."

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothin' yet. Midna took a second or two to fix her breathing patterns feeling a few dizzy spells come, and go within her frame. Her carmine eyes watered slightly from the smoke that she finally noticed. Where the hell were they anyways? Her attention was quickly returned back to Nightmare taken back by his... gesture of kindness? This was a first. The way he brushed back her sunset locks out of her face, it was then that she noticed the clip that held her hair in front in place was missing. She couldn't help but wonder where that went away to~
A pang of guilt came over the princess. Not that she was going to ever openly admit to it, but it was there. None of this would have happened if she just made better choices, took better actions, prior to this whole fiasco. When the emperor requested Midna to stay out of it, she couldn't help but give a face that showed obvious protest. He was wrong. It wasn't just his problem anymore now that the Twilight Princess got involved in the matters. Daystallion not only had the gall to bring Nightmare out for the sake of usurping the empire from him, but she appeared to be a threat to her people as well.
Especially when the alliance between the monsters, and Twili have been formed. Even if the odds were that Day would insist in trying to get a hold of Midna, what would stop her from trying it with any other twili? Or worse, kill her people for being in the Light realm in the first place? Midna couldn't leave such risks up to debate.
The Twilight Sovereign closed her eyes for a moment. Shadows engulfed her elegant frame completely, and her form began to change, deform, and start to look more like the first time Nightmare came across the princess. She reverted back to her imp form, finding it lighter, easier, and in better shape than her humanoid form. "Yeeeaaaah..." she argued, "Telling me to not interfere is the same as trying to convince me not to mess with that mirror."
Lifting herself up off the ground, she glided over to Night's side, an imp hand placed upon his shoulder, her ponytail bobbin' to and fro. Her eyes intent of helping him out with this whether he wanted it or not~ If anything else, for the sake of gaining back some dignity she lost back when she got shot with that beam of light earlier. The look in her eyes were a dead give away that Night couldn't get her to stand down~

She had been expecting him to dodge. If it would really be that easy, she would have been too surprised to function. Still, she made no move after her failed stab, just held on to the hilt of Excalibur, the point digging into the ground. She bowed her head, her bangs covering her eyes, and she listened in silence.
The only visible change was her trembling. Her hands were shaking, so much that you'd think that Death Mountain was erupting all over again. Her sword even wavered from the movement, and her free hand clenched into a fist to prevent it all she could. But that just made her arms shake, her arms and her legs and the rest of her body. Her heart was palpitating and her pupils were dilated, her cheeks flushed red from the effort of containing herself.
How Midna had taunted her? That was nothing compared to this. Daystallion was in physical pain. Her heart squeezed and shriveled up and her stomach turned on itself, her nails dug into her palm so deeply that small crescent moons of blood welled up in her hands and dripped onto the rocky, dusty ground.
He was right, after all.
Nightmare was right and Midna was right and she was just a pathetic failure of a woman. But she couldn't go back now. She had come this far, it would be worse than death to go back now. Yes, she had given up her honor, and yes, she had given up her composed facade. The only thing she had left was her piety, but as the moments passed and no sudden surge of power flowed through her veins, she felt even that fading. The sword was her father's, who was dead. The armor was her father's, just modified to fit a woman. She had her mother's looks and her father's equipment. The only thing that was hers -- her blue ribbon -- was floating somewhere around Nightmare's eyesore of a tower. Even her name was not her own. She had dropped her real name such a long time ago -- she had been styling herself after Nightmare for such a long time -- that she had all but forgotten what her first name was. Pendragon was her last name, she knew that. Something else that belonged to her family. But her first name? Something with an 's', maybe. She couldn't remember. How could she?
She didn't have anything left. She was nothing, nobody. Daystallion had started this as a mission to take back the life she had devoted to defeating Nightmare Darklight, and judging by the look in the Emperor's eyes and the tone in his voice, she wouldn't even have that soon enough.
She was going to die? Fine. But she'd take him down with her.
"You may not pull 'this crap'," she whispered hoarsely, her eyes still downcast and her grip on her sword only growing stronger. "And maybe we are the same now. But you..."
Her chin jerked up in defiance, a faint glimmer of fire burning in those bright green eyes, burning away her tears before they could fall.
"You have just been ****ing with me, you say." Daystallion spat out the curse words the same way she had spat out heretic and heathen at Midna -- like there was a disgusting taste in her mouth, and throwing out those words was the only way to get rid of it. "And you dislike what I have done, that I have dragged Princess Midna in the middle of my issue with you and injured her in the process. Maybe you are going to kill me for that. I do not care in the slightest."
Her eyes narrowed and she held her sword properly, the blood oozing from her palm and onto the silk cloth wrapping the hilt, staining it crimson red.
"Just remember that you made me what I am."
Unable to contain herself any longer, she threw her sword not at Nightmare but at Midna, and immediately transformed into her true form with a load roar. As the sound of defiance resounded into the sky, her mouth began glowing for the second time that day, and after a moment her Dragonlight burst forth towards Nightmare and Midna.

"You have allowed this 'Dark Lord' to twist your mind until now... Until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy..." His face turned to one of obvious worry when she demanded that she fight alongside him. Could she actually fight right now? She had been hurt, he didn't want her fighting. He wanted her to just rest. Yes, she had been attacked, but this was where he needed to take care of things. Daystallion was his Vanguard, and thus, she was his problem. Uncrossing his arms, he gently place a hand on Midna's. "Don't push yourself." It was all he said. It was clear that he didn't want her helping him in the state she was in. It was times like this he actually wished he had healing magic, then he could at least help her out. But that wasn't his only concern. Daystallion broke. He knew that he could break her, and he did. Her reaction was one of desperate anger, infuriated that she was being mocked. It didn't take long for her to retaliate. He had been expecting a duel between their human forms. A sword fight, a melee conflict, but it was clear that that simply was not going to happen. Instead, she threw her sword. For a moment, Nightmare thought she had aimed it at him, however, he realized who he was dealing with. She was acting like him, she would finish off the weaker member. Moving his hand to her arm, he gripped it and immediately moved out of the way, taking the imp with him. He had to admit, her imp form was already proving useful. She was so much lighter than her Twili form, it took pretty much zero effort to move her out of the way as the blade sailed past them. However, when it was over, he glared at her. "That was aimed at you." He told her in a rather deadpan manner, hoping that it would at least convince her not to fight. However, he really didn't have time to elaborate further as the dragonlight came towards them. Pulling Midna towards him, hoping to shield her, Nightmare dived out of the way, taking Midna with him, at least hoping to keep any of the light from grazing her.

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothin' yet. It was unnervingly weird to see Nightmare getting all concerned; he was actually worried for her safety. Midna had to convince herself that it was nothing more than obligation between allies. Friends watching each others back in their times of need. Nothing more. That care he'd given her was nothing more than an extension of the alliance they made, and she should treat it as nothing more as following terms of an agreement. However the touch of his hand was warm, filled with earnest feelings, and it threw Midna off a little from getting used to the arrogant ass from earlier. Was he going insane as Daystallion?
She didn't have time to think about it being pulled towards Night the second Excalibur came zooming in at the princess. She didn't get a chance to see what had happened, but it was quite clear from the crisp buzzing sound as the blade whizzed passed them that it was quite obviously aimed at the twili. She rolled her eyes at Nightmare's glare as he tried telling her - in his own silent way to stay back - but that wouldn't be enough to change her mind.
That is until the dragonlight came shooting up straight towards them. Day didn't even give them a warning of any kind when she went all holy dragoness on them, and began shooting them with her breath of light. Midna was held close, much too close for comfort, against Night as he dove out of the way of the light's path taking the princess with him. Her small frame overwhelmed as if he was trying to keep her small form from being exposed to the light again. "I'm by your side even when you can't see me," she merely stated. Closing her eyes, her body began to appear transparent, and swallowed into shadows.
Diving onto the ground, Midna hid herself within the shadow veil before going into Night's shadow. Her powers were left at his disposal ready to be used when the time was right.

Daystallion's sword went flying past the Emperor and the Sovereign and vanished somewhere behind them. Where it went, the dragoness hardly cared; she just wanted Nightmare Darklight dead. She didn't care how it happened or what the consequences would be - she wanted him dead and gone and never coming back. Ideally, she would be the one to put him in that state.
With a strong push of her wings she propelled herself farther up into the sky, and she charged up and fired more of her light. Although she had all but turned her back on the goddesses, she still had her holy powers; a good thing, Day supposed. It gave her some kind of leverage over Nightmare as long as he remained in human form.
After hovering for a moment, she tucked her wings in and barreled towards Nightmare, snapping her teeth and leaving her talons outstretched to trap him if she could. If it got the job done, she'd kill the man by just squashing him with her size.

"You have allowed this 'Dark Lord' to twist your mind until now... Until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy..." He was surprised when Midna dived into his shadow. He wasn't aware that she could actually do that. Suddenly, the tables were turning against Daystallion. Without her ace in the hole, this was about to become a lot more even matched. Nightmare dived out of the way of the dragonlight. This was about to get a lot move painful for Daystallion. He just needed to wait for her to open herself up to attack. The one area that could cause serious damage to her. And that moment came. Daystallion charged in, her talon outstretched, aiming to kill him with one swift blow, no doubt. That would be a mistake, for she had opened up her underbelly by diving towards him. Nightmare decided to launch an attack. He transformed into his dragon form, the massive beast growing to match the holy dragon. The Emperor curled up, letting his dragonhide protect him. However, his wings expanded, the spikes aimed towards Daystallion's underbelly, aiming to let herself cut herself open upon his bladed wings.

She was going too fast to pull back from her swift descent completely, but Daystallion managed to unfurl her wings a bit, enough to slow her charge and swerve slightly to the left. Her right wing was cut through, the sharp spikes sliding through the leathery membrane like a knife through soft butter. She hissed in pain as the blood dripped out, and she vaguely contemplated healing it; but after a moment's consideration, she figured it would take too long and she could fly just fine with the cut anyway. It wasn't worth the effort.
Well, maybe she couldn't fly perfectly. As her wings beat the sky, the air currents rushed through the open wound, making it throb and causing her flight to be somewhat lopsided. The pain was making her breath come short as well, but Day ignored that; she just had to bring Nightmare down. Focus, she told herself. Focus.
She gave another swift beat of her wings to push herself up, and breathed another blast of light towards Nightmare. If a physical beatdown wouldn't work, then she'd have to get her strikes in when she could.

"You have allowed this 'Dark Lord' to twist your mind until now... Until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy..." Day was more nimble than he gave her credit for. He had expected his wings to dig deep and cut massive wounds in her underbelly, and that would've been the end of it. Instead of that, she had managed to swerve at the last second, and instead of falling to his wings in a bloody pile of dragon, she escaped only with a torn wing. Even with that, Nightmare figured she would still have a hard time flying with that injury. It wasn't much in the damage department, but it was something that would hopefully force her back into her human form soon enough. Turning as she flew past him, Nightmare wondered what she was going to do next. It seemed that it would be another breath of light at him. He wouldn't dodge it this time. Now that he didn't have to worry about any unintended damage, he could fight fire with fire, so to speak. As Day prepared to fire, so did Night. Her holy light seemed to barrel straight at him, but before it could strike, his own fire was unleashed. The white flames clashed with the light, keeping it at bay, the lights clashing and illuminating the area, undoubtedly drawing the eyes of some of the gorons and possibly some of the villagers in Kakariko. It didn't matter though, Nightmare wasn't letting her get away.
