Dekethorn hated walking through the desert. He wondered whether it was worth it to join with the pirates if he didn't want to do this every damn time he had to return to them. It was painful for a man of wood like him to get sand in his bark and be dehydrated. Luckily, a merchant was nice enough to give him some water before he made his way here. Give being a generous term for petty theft.
"I deserve better than this. I was in line to be Deku King, now I'm walking through a desert just to have some fun. Didn't even get to rob those fools in the forest. Stupid pirates. Is it too much to ask to come down to Faron and do what you do best? But noooooooooooooooooooooo. I have to be on my own again." His inner monologue had found its way out of his mouth yet again.

Strolling in towns where mortals reside can get rather complicated. So, Lucien decided to spend his day off in a desert, yea, don't pick him to be your travel agent. As usual, Lucien can pwn noobs on his days off, so noobs, word of advice, stay away. Then again, noobs hardly exist in this day and age. They've been pwned by Lucien. Which some would say is, rather difficult at times because he can get lazy.
The monster vanguard stood by a ruined pillar or rock mound, so hard to tell in the blazing sun. He was fully garbed in his bone and leather hide armor, complete with his staff, which is suspiciously named the underPOWERed Pole. Kind of a odd name, wouldn't you say? Lucien liked it and it possesses a useful ability. Although, it was only to be used for battle as it would be next to useless for conventional use.
Since it was the desert and not some village, he wore his cowl and bone mask, which looked like some kind of monster's skull that had a snout but not exactly a wolf. This would hide his face and whatnot. An eerie green glow radiated from certain points on his body, as well as from the mask. This along with pure badassery, kept the weaker monsters from bothering him. His arms were crossed over his chest with the staff stuck into the sand next to him, as if waiting for someone or something. Epic foreshadowing~?

As Dekethorn grumbled and monologued his way through the desert, he came upon some strange ruins. Normally his path never took him past any ruins.
"Hmm, must have taken a wrong turn. No matter, I'll just...hmm?" He stopped as he noticed a figure in the distance with a staff, just standing there, watching. Was he watching Dekethorn? Maybe, he couldn't tell. However, Dekethorn couldn't pass up an opportunity like this, so he approached.
After coming within talking distance of the figure, he did the only thing he could to determine whether or not is was a mirage or not. He fired a deku nut straight for its torso, just to gauge the reaction.

Lucien was ready to fall asleep, this heat seemed to lull him just right to make him tired. Although, he was intended for something else. A round projectile shot out at him from a distance. This would normally work on someone else but Lucien was trained and knew when someone was watching him. So as the deku nut flew towards his body, he grabbed his staff and twirled it in front of him, deflecting the nut and knocking sand up, causing a cloud. This is much like a dust cloud, but sand. It could get into another person's eyes and temporarily blind them. If not, then it'll still dim their vision, like standing in the midst of smoke.
The heat can sometimes make people cranky, Lucien wasn't like most people since he wasn't exact a 'person' but he was still irritated. More so when someone or something decided to attack him. Since he wasn't all omniscience, he didn't know the one that attacked him didn't mean any harm, so he rushed through the sand cloud, leaping over the squat figure, landing some ways behind it and spun around, swinging his staff like a golf club, intending to smack the small figure and go for a hole-in-one. Where he aimed for this, he had no idea, but the joke was funny nonetheless.
Whether or not his swing connected, he would back flip out of the sand cloud, some distance away and get into a defensive stance, ready to spin his staff for a deflection again.
"The hell was that thing?" He muttered under his breath. Although, wearing the mask, the voice came out like an eerie rasp. A harsh, monstrous voice. It wasn't deep but it wasn't soft either, just scary or somewhat demonic.

Dekethorn snickered as the dust cloud blew up and his nut was knocked away. So the entity was thinking after all. Shame, Dekethorn wanted to play some more. He knew he wasn't going to be able to play with this, it seemed ominous. Dekethorn knew he should have just moved on, but he couldn't. Too tempting to tempt fate. Again.
The eerie rasp kept Dekethorn on his wooden toes, but it didn't stop him from being the little douche he was. "Sorry, I don't speak Desert Demon. Try something more normal. Like hello, or please don't hurt me, or I love your nuts." Dekethorn began to hop around a little, excited about his new plaything.

So apparently his attack had missed. The sand cloud probably made him think the figure was taller than it actually was. Oh well, no need to cry over spilled milk. Though, that made no sense to him. It took him a few seconds to notice that his new friend was a Deku. Weren't they plant creatures though? Why would one be out here in the desert? Probably got stolen by a bloody Gerudo and it escaped. Not likely though but at least he could use the Gerudo as a scapegoat and get away with it.
Bloody thieves...
"Pardon my accent, I don't run into many intelligent creatures, besides my own kind." His voice still rasped in that demonic way but the words he spoke could be picked out. Lucien relaxed himself, standing up straight in a casual stance. He didn't have much to fear from the little deku. He merely seemed to be staring holes through the tiny plant thing but under the mask, his eyes were going up and down, following Dekethorn's hopping.
Hyper little bugger, isn't he?
"So tell me, what brings you out here? Shouldn't you be where there is water and greenery?" He paused for a second then went on. "If you're looking for a fight--" He raised his left hand up to about chest level for himself."you need to be this tall to ride." He chuckled to himself. It was pretty funny. Since Dekethorn had to be a douche, Lucien replied in kind.
Let him chew on that, if he can reach it...

Dekethorn seemed to calm down as the hooded showed the ability to speak normal languages. Then he was making a short joke at Dekethorn. As if Dekethorn didn't get enough of that.
"I'm here because I can be, height be damned." Dekethorn fired another nut, this time at Lucien's hooded head, because short jokes were lame and Dekethorn didn't appreciate it.
"And what are you, some kind of ruins guardian? There anything here worth guarding? Seems like a pile of rubble to me." Dekethorn knew there were some ruins out here, maybe even some with genuine treasure, but all he saw was sand and stone.

Lucien expected much. Deku's main source of attack are shooting nuts out of their mouths, so by using this foreknowledge, he spun his staff again, deflecting the nut but back at the hyper midget. Let's see how he likes nuts in his face.
After the deflection, Lucien did some fancy flourish with his staff then slammed the butt of the shaft into the sand. Ruins guardian? Ha! What a joke...not really. Truth be told, he was looking for some Gerudo, he'd never seen them before so he wanted to get close enough to see then haul ass away to brag that he encountered the female thieves and lived to tell the tale....the false one rather.
"To be honest, I got lost looking for some of those sexy Gerudo. I think I made a wrong turn at Albuduneque." Like Albuquerque but the desert version! Treasure was probably the lost thing anyone would find out here, since it was inhabited by a race of natural thieves. Then again, the Gerudo are a treasure of their own, a deadly treasure.
Tch...

Dekethorn recoiled from having the nut slammed into his face. He'd fought deku before, and knew that the nuts hurt. But having his sent back seemed to hurt even more. Maybe his just had more pop, or maybe it was a mental hit as well.
"Oh. Just some Gerudo." He pointed in completely the wrong direction from the Gerudo base. "They're over there." He kicked a little sand around and made little shapes. "Don't expect a warm welcome, turns out they hate men."

"Ah, thanks for the advice, I guess I should be on my way." He began to turn as if to leave but stopped. "By the way, where do your allegiances lie, young deku?"
It was a fair question. Lucien was a Vanguard with loyalties to the Emperor, so finding out who his enemies and allies were, was a good idea. If this deku directly opposed the Emperor and his ideals, he would have to obliterate the thing. Directly opposing being if he was with the Hylians and their pathetic cause. If the deku was of the evil alignment, he could probably recruit him for a makeshift army, not that we monsters need it. We're epic all by our lonesome, but it wouldn't hurt to have a force to send in the first wave to get slaughtered and wear down the Hylians' defenses.
With one hand gripping his staff and the other placed upon his mask, he awaited the response. Answering wrong with cost him his life. Answering right will preserve him and evading it all, well, Lucien wasn't thinking that far ahead. Rather, he disregarded it entirely. That'll be the same as answering wrong in his book.

Dekethorn lightly snickered at his deception. Even if the power before him was as evil as Dekethorn suspected, as evil was all that radiated from this desert, he couldn't help himself. Messing with others was what he did.
"Allegiances, pah!" He spit a nut into the ground in disgust. "Don't talk to me about allegiances. If it weren't for the blasted king, I'd be ruling the dekus. Now I have to join up with some ridiculous band of pirates, biding my time until I can recapture what is rightfully mine!" Subjugating an entire village was the high point of Dekethorn's life so far, but he had no intention of stopping. His delusions began to rule him.
Dekethorn wasn't worried about life or death. This was about himself and making others suffer at his expense. Dekethorn didn't think about the consequences of his answer.

"Band of pirates..? The Gerudo pirates?"
No doubt those are the pirates he means. What other pirates will there be? No one else has the balls to living a life of thievery, other than the Gerudo. Lucien looked down at his wrist, as if looking for a watch. Wait, were watches in this day and age?
>_>
Probably not. Though it still works for adding a chuckle to this. Going by what the little deku said, he is tied to the Dekuian royal throne? Oh my, that could be useful in the future...or not, it just a guess really. Although, it was becoming that hour, he'd have to take off soon. Meeting this deku was very productive...sorta. Lucien should just punt the guy into the end zone before leaving, that should score him a few points.

"Yes! The Gerudo Pirates? Is their another group of pirates, because I will smash them to oblivion and back! No one opposes me!" Just about everyone opposed him, but that was irrelevant.
Was he actually in line for the Deku throne? No, he just had illusions of grandeur, nothing more. Sure, he ruled a small Deku village as tyrant once, but he had to forfeit it under penalty of death.
"My patience had departed me. You are of no use. Begone you." After that, he left, scoffing at Lucien on his way out.

Did he really just dismiss Lucien? He's got some big balls to do that. No, Lucien would have none of that. He Dismisses people, not the other way around. Punting the little thing seemed to be his best idea so far, so let's see how far he'll go.
Lucien waited for the deku to get a little distance away before he broke into a dash. Upon nearing his target, he went low, sliding across the sands with his foot stuck out to kick the dude's rear. As he did so, greenish black flames erupted from his Energy Nodes, engulfing his foot in the fire. It didn't really do anything in terms of damage, it just allowed Lucien to survive more in battle.
FALCON KICK!
Seriously, it did look like a Falcon Kick. A sliding kick that was covered in fire. He would of done a falcon punch but he was sure the attack would of gone right over the deku as he was...height challenged. So the best way to maximize a sneak attack was to attack low.

Dekethorn was expecting the attack, someone of his intelligence knows when confronted with evil, and he knew from personal experience how evil reacted when dismissed with a scoff.
Hearing the sound of the energy behind him and the sand erupting from the ground, he took to the sky on wings of flowers, although these flowers seemed withered, although they functioned well. After taking to the sky, he began an eruption of deku nuts, his burst fire ability coming into play so that he may fire at a pace that few Deku could match.

Nuts rained down upon him. Very hard nuts, fired in rapid succession. Raising his arm, he covered his head, taking the projectiles like a boss. There wasn't much he could do, he was sliding along sand, sure his kick would of connected but the deku proved intelligent and anticipated an attack. So his counter worked as he was left stunned.
The next thing he knew, Lucien was sliding over the dune, falling into quicksand. He freaked, releasing a loud screeching sound when he was actually yelling and flailing about as he went straight down into the trap. What a way to go. However, he would survive this but it works great for an exit strategy. He would of preferred to stay and beat that little runt around the desert but he would deal with him another time. Exit
Sorry for the lateness on exiting this thread. I had no computer access for awhile and now that I'm back, writer's block, so I'll just end this so we can get our consummation prize.

(OOC: Not a problem, do what you have to do. One day we'll have a real battle.)
Dekethorn hovered in the air as the knight seemed to be swallowed up by the desert. How unfortunate that his prey managed to escape, although it seemed to not be of his own decision. Regardless, Dekethorn was now alone, and with little else to do, he slowly descended back to the harsh sand before continuing on his way. With no opponent, he had to go to see the pirates once again. Maybe then he would get a good shot at his lieutenant, the snarky *****.
