Sometimes, to achieve pure and true equality, to acquire honesty and integrity, and receive fairness upon and from within society, one must go above and beyond the confounds of the law. Those who supersede themselves as above the law cannot be touched by the lawful, and the lawful cannot dirty their hands to establish Justice, else they face consequences that would break the purity of the remaining system. To break a cycle of everlasting corruption and darkness, there are the vigilante’s of the world, the ones who deliver…Rough Justice.
Abenzio was not a vigilante however, and while he had mixed feelings between becoming a Knight and becoming a vigilante hero, as of now, he was simply a variable without an equation. A wannabe. The worst of all titles; the tan Hylian boy was influential by the Knights, but when he saw a true vigilante, he became a soft palette of peanut butter you could carve your name into. Completely and totally absorbing everything he possibly could.
So far, the boy had accomplished nothing. Since early that morning, he had roamed the city, patrolling for crime and other things that a Knight could not see. Knights attracted attention, and despite the halberd over his back, Abenzio carried little to no attention in the large groups. Apparently though, the Knights were keeping the streets rather clear, for he had seen no acts of crime on this fine day. Well, almost didn’t see any crimes. He had broken out of the crowd, and leaned against a white wall in the alleyway to just basically chill out and enjoy the breeze before he went back home; his parents believed him to be working hard daily to get into the Knights, but Abenzio had a better plan. He would be recognized into the Knights by Zelda herself, no matter what.
Resting against the wall, he sat down with his knee’s arched up, and the halberd underneath them, laying flat on the ground. Taking his one shoe off, he shook the boot fiercely to remove any rocks that had somehow snuck inside. Placing it back on, he did the same with the other boot. Taking in a big deep breath through his nose, he coughed slightly. “Ahughugh. Yuck.” Smelled like sweaty feet and cheese. Pretty gross alright, so he’d have to keep his shoes on till he was alone.
Most of the Knights knew Abenzio, at least by name and reputation. He was a Noble, and typically young to become a Knight, which was probably why he had yet to be accepted. He was also well known for running around Castle Town picking fights with criminals and always trying to be a hero. He had been jumped and beat up more than a few times, which typically worried his mother. Even so, Abenzio was a strong lad, and the Knights always seemed to look out for him, despite his troublesome nature.
While resting, he spotted three thugs in an alleyway, or three men that could be conceived as and most definitely judged as, thugs. Birds of a feather do flock together, after all. Aside from that, their behavior was rather odd and suspicious, not anything he was typically used to. Abenzio’s eyes squinted as he caught sight of a small golden trimmed potion casing. “Hm…” This was almost always a deal for the black market hitting up an alleyway, and for Abenzio on this day, it was the exact opposite/ parallel alley that he was located in. Standing up, he grabbed the halberd and rested it over his shoulder, watching the group for awhile longer.
After their talking seemed to continue on for what was at least a half hour, Abenzio decided to move. Walking bluntly up into the alleyway, he held his halberd forth with one hand, pointing it at all three of the men (while honestly focusing mostly on the second/middle). “Black Market stuff eh? The Knights will be here soon, I’m sure.”
The three men, crowded in a circle, lined out almost perfectly, and chuckled slightly, scaling the boy head to toe with an inspecting eye. The middle one drew his cutlass and twirled it, tipping Abenzio’s Halberd slightly. “Haha, Abenzio my boy. You here to stop us today to?” Abenzio may not of known this man, but awhile back the young noble had him put in jail by somehow blowing a small black market scheme he had going. It was all…unintentional, however, but since that day the thug has had a vendetta against the Jacoby family.
“Drop your blade.”
“Or what?”
“….” The tension grew; did he have the balls?
