Oh, how Syrena adored these rare outings that Virgil would indulge her in~! She knew her older brother could become so busy with syndicate business, and at times he would even send her out on personal errands. The young woman idolized him completely, and she knew she would do anything he asked of her. He had saved her, and so she owed him her very life. Of course, being a good sister meant also trying to have her brother part his attentions from just business. Oh, she knew he indulged in pleasures when he could, but she also wished to spend time with him. It did not matter if he was just humoring her this time, because Syrena had acquired what she wanted. Lake Hylia was such a beautiful sight to see, and she loved every chance she could see the natural sights of the evergreen grass and vividly blue lake. Emerald green eyes flickered from the lake, free of the glassy sheen that lingered there so very often. Her imaginary world was left behind for the moment, and she was very aware of the reality she was in right now. Virgil always deserved her entire attention, and so she smiled sweetly at the older male.
"Thank you so much for taking me here," she stated lightly. Syrena hoped this outing would be as nice for him as it was for her, and she would do anything to please him. The young woman did know that her admiration for him did run deeper than just sibling affection, and she had an inkling that Virgil knew as well. Of course, she never attempted to act inappropriate, because it was not her place. He was her older brother, and she did know that was all Virgil should be to her. Besides, spending time with him was more than enough for the young woman. Since they had decided to come here for a few hours, Syrena was dressed in one of her more colorful dresses. The top a light aqua with darker pinks around her waist and the hemline. Barefooted, she enjoyed the feeling of the grass beneath her toes. Syrena felt like a young girl in a way, her curiosity singing at her to investigate each and every nook and cranny of her surroundings. She was certainly pushing back the urge, and spending her stagnant energy in another way. Constantly rocking back upon her heels, emerald eyes flickering about this way and that.
She brushed a stray ebony strand behind her ear, peering upward at the stormy sky. It was a cloudy day, but Syrena often preferred rainy weather over sunny. Water was able to wash everything away, and was cool and sweet against her skin. She had an inherent fear of fire that lingered from all those years ago, and so she disliked venturing out into bright, sunny days. It was a peculiar preference she had, but Virgil indulged her in it. How wonderful a feeling it was to be understood for her oddities, along with the madness that lingered within her. Her brother was mad like she was, but that was certainly okay. He was perfect in her eyes, and Syrena had no wish to change him at all. Sitting down by the edge of the water, she let her feet rest within the shallow end of the lake, sighing in relief as the cool liquid lapped at her skin. Relaxing and sweet to experience~! Emerald eyes flickered back to the Mad Hatter, smiling sweetly once more. "Is there anything you would like to do, Virgil?"

Dangerous, have you ever heard of such? I'm invisible and impossible to touch
The shades of gray that covered the skies was rather relaxing. The air was thicker than usual resulting in the tempestuous rain to come if beckoned by a call. Still, the muggy air felt pleasant against his skin as it began to thaw away the cold that clung onto his skin from being inside for quite some time. It could get quite stuffy in the office when he was swamped with constant business documents that required his undivided attention. Collecting, and managing debts people owed, buying out companies, and hell, even giving to charity as a front basis to keep people from getting suspicious of his activities. It was all for the sake of gaining everything, and anything within the palm of his hands. Greed knew no limit, and neither did Virgil.
However, the want he had at the time led him on a trip together with his adorable little sister, Syrena. The lightning was perfect, and reminded him of the theme calm before the storm in a way. He held within one hand his walking cane (which never left his side, and even when he put it down, it was always close) and in his other hand was a picnic basket. Virgil had one of his maids assort lunches for the two of them as they headed out to Lake Hylia. The hatter owed some spending quality time with the young lady.
"Anytime, my sweet. Just promise me you won't go chasing rabbits, and falling down holes," he joked softly. There was a sense of pride bubbling up inside him actually enjoying this whole brother-sister relationship for the most part. Probably because he's never had siblings of his own, and found that doting on the precious girl would do him some good.
He wasn't quite sure at the time why he took the girl in. Apart of him wanted to justify his actions by saying he felt a connection towards Syrena. He could relate to losing his family young, and that their sanity were anything but stable anymore. All they were living off of were shattered streams of sorrow amidst the madness reality brought before their plate. Then again he probably played with the idea of spoiling a child, but couldn't find it in his heart to be tied to a woman in order to have a hell-spawn on his own. Adoption was the next best thing after all. Virgil just couldn't place his gloved finger on the matter to be honest. Whatever the reason was, he was much pleased with the results of going through and taking her in. A family was always nice to have, wouldn't you agree?
"The day belongs to you, Syrena. Whatever you want to do, I'll be more than obliged to do with you," he said sincerely, standing calmly by her side, but not quite so close to the water's edge. He was dressed, after all, in his leisure afternoon attire. He rid himself of the coat, and top hat not wanting to get those things dirty while they enjoyed their outing within the lake (or if Syrena gets any mischievous ideas, and throws him in the lake by some horrible convenience). He knew for the most part, she wouldn't, but if she had the chance, what would stop her? He placed the picnic basket down next to them, and with his free hand stroked the girl's head softly, admiring the ebony locks that matched his own head of hair so perfectly.

Syrena was quite happy with how this day was beginning, and the lightning that streaked through the grey sky every-so-often added to the wonderful atmosphere. Chaos always added a wonderful backdrop within the calm of the storm. There was a tenuous peace, but the chaos kept one on edge and very aware of the dangerous possibilities. It had yet to rain, and she did hope it would remain dry until they ventured back home. As much as she loved the rain, she certainly had no wish for their lunch to become soggy and wet. What a bad picnic that would be! Not to mention her brother was wearing quite a nice leisure suit, and it would be a shame for his clothing to become drenched or dirty in some way. Syrena was a little more careless with her clothing at times, because she had the tendency to get into everything. A small pout settled over her lips at his joke. "That only happened once, and you know it," she replied. Her pout soon disappeared, and was replaced with her quiet giggles. She had gotten better over the years!
Her private world did have the most fantastical creatures, but she stopped herself before she became drawn back down the rabbit hole. This day was about the two of them, and not about her escaping from reality. [Even if she did have a love for rabbits.] Being with Virgil was a balm to the tattered remains of her sanity and heart. He reminded her often of her older sister, but she could hardly picture Angelica within her mind anymore. Detaching herself from her childhood past, she instead focused on the water lapping at her bare feet. It was a little cold, but the cold was so much better than the blazing heat. Fire consumed everything until there was nothing left at all, and so she preferred the slow chill of the cold that could settle into bones and lull into a sweet and endless slumber. Oh, she should not be thinking such morbid thoughts. Jade eyes blinked away the glassiness, focusing her whole attention upon Virgil. He deserved nothing but her whole and undivided attention, even if he was understanding of her frequent tendency to space out. All she needed was to practice her focus more, but her curiosity got the better of her so very often.
Syrena smiled at his response, quite content that the day was hers to do with as she pleased. If only she knew what to do, but a good place to start was certainly with the picnic basket Virgil had brought along. She watched as he removed his top hat and coat, placing them an adequate distance away from the water's edge. Green eyes closed as he used his free hand to stroke her hair, enjoying the display of affection. She had been starved for such actions much of her youth, and Syrena would take whatever Virgil would offer her. Honestly, the two of them could pass for blood-related siblings. The two of them shared the same shade of ebony, and their eyes were similar in color somewhat. A small hum of contentment escaped her, but she soon righted herself before she lost herself to the comforting sensation. "Perhaps we should eat, then?" she asked, opening her eyes as she gestured to the basket with a sweet smile. Syrena moved her feet from resting in the water, turning beneath his hand to face him completely. The day may belong to her, but he would always have her full, undivided attention.
