Dreysir Arkos
Noble Monstrosity
RACE,“Curious, my heritage. My parents were, of course, Hylian, and themselves they were in every respect normal; I, like them, am of pure Hylian heritage. However, I am particular. Monstrous, some have called me, but they are incorrect; I have been blessed by the Goddesses. Vampire is perhaps the more likely term for one such as I. But never presume that I am in any way typical.”
GENDER,“This goes without saying, does it not? I am a man.”
BATTLE ROLE,“I might term myself a lifestealer. Yes, that seems suitable.”
BATTLE STYLE,
Any. All abilities listed will be applicable to either battle format.
AGE,
“My unique abilities have granted me unnatural long life, and certainly unnatural preservation. Physically, I appear to be a young man in my mid-twenties, but I have been around for much, much longer. Let us quietly dismiss the matter.”[/blockquote]
ALLIANCE,
“To Hyrule, to those with whom I am bonded, and to the Princess.”
Hylian Chancellor plox
PERSONALITY,
Positive
- Intelligent
- Charming
- Independent
- Calm
- Loyal
Negative
- Vain
- Proud
- Dismissive
- Sadistic
- Stubborn
APPEARANCE,
“Handsome devil, aren’t I?
Hrm, yes, while the need to describe myself to you utterly escapes me, I confess a certain … morbid fascination with such self-revelations. Thus, we begin.
White hair, for the first. It has always been that way, of course, which caused quite a bit of head-turning in my younger years (perhaps as response, I offered more interesting items which might inspire such turns), but in later years people simply seem to accept it as natural, which is all for the better. True white, mind you; no silver, nor gray. White. That always struck me as particularly delicious.
As for the rest, I am tall. Taller than the average, certainly, and if I do say so myself, while my build is generally lean I do possess broad shoulders, and am physically fit. My eyes, again, are unnatural, gleaming yellow whilst mostly black. This, particularly, seems to bother some. The rest of me is quite typically human. Rather strong jaw, handsome cheeks, rugged good looks, etc. etc.
I have often heard it said that the clothes make the man, and that is ridiculous. I, however, have made a lifetime of preying upon the ridiculous, and so choose my attire carefully. Upon my chest, I wear blackened, rich leather fitted with a suitably blood-red ruby, beneath a belted black trench coat, which I find quite stylish and favourable in colder climates, which I find intolerable. I am much better suited to the heat. Belted about my waist, there is a rather beautiful longsword, named Vengeant, sheathed in a fine leather scabbard. Simple black leggings and black boots complete my rather dark ensemble, but it is after all best suited to one such as me, who prefers the night.”
WEAPONS,
”Ah, my favoured longsword. Long ago I bound its will to mine, enchanted it with my own magic. The iron in the blood rings with the iron in the steel, and their union is … striking. Never will one forget the time they struck one of my own.”
Statistically, Vengeant does not affect the power of Dreysir’s normal strikes. Its power is connected to an activated ability; when Dreysir blocks, using Guard or Magic Guard, he may “attach” Vengeant to it, using the same action slot. Dreysir will then stab the target with his sword, to do heavy damage less any damage he took by the attack he was intending to block to the person who targeted him (2 damage – any damage he didn’t block from that attack), directly: this damage cannot be modified by buffs or debuffs or whathaveyou. Using Vengeant increases the cooldown of the ability he attached it to by one post.[/blockquote]
ITEMS,
“I carry little about my person. A man needs only his wits, his dashing good looks, and his abundance of magical powers.”
ABILITIES,
Sangromancy
Dreysir’s long study of the powers which give him his unique appearance and capabilities have yielded interesting, and deadly results. By harnessing the power of blood, Dreysir is able to access a form of energy referred to as blood mana; he can either use an action slot to take moderate damage and gain 5 blood mana, or otherwise gain 1 blood mana for each-half level of damage he deals to any target. Many of Dreysir’s abilities can use blood mana as an alternate casting cost, but he can also use blood mana directly. Once a turn Dreysir may spend one blood mana to deal low magic damage to a target (this does, in fact, allow him to gain one blood mana back), prevent low physical or magical damage, or apply low healing. He may spend additional blood mana to increase its potency: for every two extra blood mana paid, the effect is raised by another half-level, and for every extra one blood mana paid (separate from the blood mana paid to raise damage) he may choose an additional target. So to apply moderate healing to himself and an ally, he would have to pay four blood mana.Reign of the Bloodking
Dreysir is a leader, one who attracts others simply with the power of his voice and his charisma. Even though he is plagued by a dark connotation, the power of blood that Dreysir wields is intended to unite, not destroy. While Reign of the Bloodking is active, Dreysir gain two extra points of health. In addition, he and all allies gain the Bloodlink status. Bloodlink causes all healing, buffs (excluding that of Reign of the Bloodking itself), or protection to be shared amongst all allies; if one ally is healed by one point, all allies are so healed, and so on. Bloodlink does not apply to damage or negative effects. Reign of the Bloodking has a duration of four posts and a cooldown of four posts, however, upon the “de-activation” of Reign of the Bloodking, Dreysir may automatically pay four blood mana; if he does, Reign of the Bloodking skips its cooldown and may remain in effect for four more posts, with the same cooldown (and possible re-activation) as normal.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Magical Guardian: Dreysir takes less (1/2) damage from magical attacks, and can Magic Guard.
Magic Guard: Block a level of magical damage, and treat all damage as magical. 1 post cooldown.
HISTORY,
Dreysir Arkos was the seventh son of a rich Hylian family, an old line that had produced fine upstanding young men and women for generations. No one expected this trend to rupture, although from birth it was clear that something was different about the newest branch to the Arkos family tree. He was born a pale grey, and though his hair was originally a pale blonde, by the time he was five years old it had paled to shining silver. One might have initially thought that this would cause him no end of discomfort, but Dreysir’s natural talents far outweighed the slings the world presented him. Where one child might make enemies with him, he would befriend two more. Where one might accuse him of being a freak, he would convince three more that he was outstanding. Even from a young age, Dreysir’s ability to attract companions was profound.
Even more amazing was the strange power he exhibited over blood, leading some to call him a vampire; he laughed it off, showing them how he could use blood to heal, to unite, claiming that his power was given to him by the Goddesses. For where else could such power have come from? His abilities were unique, as was he, and it was the Goddesses to whom he gave the responsibility. He thanked them, and became a devoted student of the Goddesses, and a proud member of Hylian government. Though a young man, his rise through the ranks was meteoric, propelled by his intellect and charisma. Before long, he became a Hylian Chancellor, aiding the Royal Family in all their administrative tasks.
It would become apparent that Dreysir’s prodigious magical talents extended not only to expressions of power, but to longevity. He retained the appearance of a young man throughout his long life, to the point that those around him noticed he had never aged a day since becoming a Chancellor. Charges of monstrosity and corruption were produced, yet unfounded and unsupported. Dreysir proved to be an able Chancellor with a strong mind, and his position was certain for years to come.
Darker secrets linger. Some say he drinks blood, and spreads his influence to a unique “family” that he cherishes. Luckily, none are brave enough to present these claims.
