VITAE ERASTUS
Hopeful Sura
» in all, you just have to have the drive, the will, the determination to push onward, no matter the adversity.
RACE,Human
- Humans are one of the most dominant races in Hyrule, living pretty much everywhere, even if only in small numbers. They are physiologically very similar to Hylians, making the two races the most compatible for hyrbids. The only difference is located in the ears; humans having short, rounded ears. Humans are very well-rounded as a species. They lack the strength of a goron or the magical prowess of a hylian and so forth, but neither are they weak in those areas. Humans, unlike a lot of races, are more diverse, so it’s not uncommon to find one with greater strength or magical ability.
Humans are as diverse in their culture as they are in abilities. Humans are spread across the land, able to occupy many different areas and not limited to certain foods or climates.

The boy’s complexion is of a deep bronze, a skin tone that is rarely seen within the human race. Short black hair hugs to the male’s scalp and stays at an incredibly short length through all the seasons. Vitae stands at a slightly below average height for his age and sex though his body is muscular, a testament to his devotion to the martial art he is a part of. With medium sized eyes, ears and mouth, his facial features remain proportional and his skin shows some wear and tear from his training regime as well as the occasional acne. In all, the lad holds a modest appearance.
Clothing wise, the boy dons a pair of medium – sized brown leather goggles though they are rarely worn on his face and can typically can be seen on his forehead or draped about his neck. A light cotton shirt of a forest green hue covers the male’s upper body while sturdy beige pants shield his lower body from the elements. A pair of sturdy brown shoes complete the general ensemble though Vitae carries around a few accessories. On his wrists are beaded bracelets, one being green whilst the other is beige. Etched into the beads are various symbols, symbols used to represent the Sura fighting style that Vitae is a practitioner of. Also, a hefty pouch is clipped to the boy’s pants and hangs on his right side, used to hold whatever items that Vitae has on his person. [/blockquote]

ABILITIES,
Sura[/ul]
- A fighting style that revolves around the manipulation of one’s energies in order to produce devastating strikes, toughen and strengthen the body to impressive levels and to heal injuries and cure illnesses. Although the style itself is known for its destructive power, the members of the style aren’t known to be aggressive and battle-hungry people. Instead, members are known to be calm and peaceful people for in order for the style to be used to its fullest potential, one must have an inner peace about them. The style uses no weapons of any kind except glove based weaponry for the user’s hands. Instead, the practitioner themselves become a walking weapon. The style’s name is named after the highest rank attainable, Sura, a rank that Vitae is hoping to obtain.
- Sura’s Impact – The first principle that is taught. Before one can even dive into the style, one must learn to gain absolute control of the energies latent within their body. Once that is achieved, they can finally learn the basic principle that the entire fighting style is based off of. By concentrating energy within a point of the body before executing a blow, the practitioner can then harness the energy to bolster their striking power to insane levels to where a single hit landed can inflict serious damage. Blows thrown by those of the Sura’s Fist often leave gaping craters in their wake and can easily throttle opponents. If one can sense or see magic, they will be able to see a flare of bright energy within the affected limb. As of now, Vitae had just grasped this ability and is currently working on perfecting it. Because of this, he can only launch one “enhanced” blow at a time before having to wait in order to launch another one. Launching such a powerful blow takes concentration and since Vitae is still a beginner within the style, it only makes sense how he needs time between blows to concentrate.
Damage: Heavy
Cooldown: Two posts - Sura’s Restore – The second principle that is taught. Once the practitioner has proven capable of utilizing Sura’s Impact, they learn how to use the same energy that is used to power their strikes in order to heal injuries and cure minor ailments such as dizziness and nausea. By focusing energy, Vitae can either engulf himself or a target of choice within a refreshing breeze of a green hue, the breeze itself holding healing magic that can repair minor and moderate injuries. Heavy injuries can’t be fully healed and at most, only the bleeding can be stopped.
Healing: Large
Cooldown: Three posts - Sura’s Fists – The third principle that is taught. Once a practitioner can produce devastating strikes and mend wounds with their internal energy, they then learn how to strengthen their hands to the point where it can stand up to weaponry. Bladed and deadly weaponry is ever-present and although the practitioner doesn’t use weapons themselves, this does not mean they are defenseless when pitted against a sharp or deadly weapon. With enough toughening and practice, the practitioner can have their hands mimic the strength of steel and can use their bare hands to block and grab sharp and metal weaponry. This is done by having a small but constant flow of energy through their hands which heavily toughens their hands’ exterior and interior. Vitae’s hands won’t become severed and skin won’t break if a sharp weapon comes in contact with them. However, pain is still felt should the practitioner guard against a blow and bones can still be broken if the blow is too heavy. Also, Vitae’s hands don’t become as heavy as steel nor will his punches feel like a steel punch whenever attacking. This is just so his hands are durable enough to withstand the hefty amount of abuse that they are put through. Even so, Sura’s Fists adds a damage bonus of .5 to any attack that is thrown with Vitae’s hands.

RACIAL ABILITIES,
Flexibility[/ul][/blockquote]
- Humans are, above all else, adaptable. They are not exceptional physically or magically, but they’re naturally able at both; this manifests itself as an additional Magic Slot, which can be used for either an ability, item, weapon, in the typical way that a Magic Slot would be used. However, this Magic Slot can never be upgraded.
HISTORY,
Born within a small village nestled within Southern Hyrule, Vitae’s early days followed the general trend of growth and development. Of course, he wasn’t truly aware of the mystic world that he lived in however that soon became a realization once Vitae hit his adolescent years. Just like many of the other children in the village, they got together and played games, games of battling monsters and slaying dragons. Monsters? Dragons? To Vitae, those creatures were make-believe, at least, he thought they were. Curiosity prodded at him and he eventually asked his parents who then confirmed the existence of these beasts and much more. The thought startled him and it was more than enough to slightly overwhelm a child’s mind. Vitae knew that his parents were avid travelers and skilled fighters. Besides, he had seen glimpses of his parents’ weaponry and items and he couldn’t help but notice that his parents always took them whenever they were traveling to run an errand or such. Was the world truly that dangerous? Vitae didn’t know but he didn’t have to worry about that for now.
When Vitae finally hit the age of fifteen, he was permitted to go traveling, although he was generally only allowed to go to Hyrule’s Castle Town or Lake Hylia. Everywhere else was clearly off-limits. The sudden burst of freedom was enough to satiate Vitae’s curiosity for some time but as he continued to age, he yearned to see beyond the simple town and the vast lake. There had to be more to the world than the village, the castle town and Lake Hylia right? When he presented his desire to travel to his parents, they agreed to allow Vitae to travel so long as he was taught on how to defend himself. To Vitae, purchasing a weapon wasn’t something that he’d like to do as he himself wasn’t very comfortable with using sharp, lethal weaponry. Although his father was a skilled swordsman and his mother a talented mage, he wasn’t sure if swordsmanship or strict magic were the best fits for him however there was another alternative. The village knew of a small group of travelers who had set up residence at Lake Hylia and these travelers practiced a unique fighting style. It was a stretch but Vitae eventually asked if he could be under their tutelage. Surprisingly enough, the group had no qualms with Vitae wanting to learn their fighting style and took him under their wing. Of course, learning the mere basics of the fighting style wasn’t easy and it wasn’t until two years later that Vitae finally managed to grasp the basics of the Sura fighting style. His parents were astonished at the progress their son had made and after Vitae demonstrated his newly learned abilities, they were convinced that Vitae could defend himself sufficiently and finally gave him permission to travel freely. Still, they stressed that Vitae shouldn’t just wander about any potentially dangerous areas and the boy was sure to take this to mind. After gathering about his things, the young teen finally set out, frequently visiting his home village in order to spend time with his parents and friends and also to continue training under the Suras.
It’d only be time before the boy’s resolve would be put to the test.
