INNOCENT WANDERINGS AND SILLY DISCOVERIES [MIFF]

The poor, unsuspecting inhabitants of the Minish Forest had no idea what they were in store for on this lovely morning. Creatures awoke to patches of ice along the forest floor, slipping and sliding around in a panic since there should be no reason for them to be present. Yet, strangely, they were. And any of the forest dwellers that were still asleep this late in the morning, would soon wake up thanks to the frantic thudding around of a rather overexcited female Goron who just so happened to be the source of all the mysterious ice patches.

A Goron the source of ice patches? Now that was just strange. But Isolde wasn't quite from the same home of traditional Gorons. No, instead, her homeland was an island, quite a chill one at that, which explains her difference in color, an icy white/blue, and why there was always a visible chilly aura that emanated from her at all times. And the patches of ice, of course, that appeared where the enthusiastic woman stomped around with very little regard about what her careless movements were causing.

"SO PRETTY!" Isolde exclaimed, quite loudly, of course. She bent over to pick up a handful of purple flowers, the surrounding area, including the flowers that had been unlucky enough to be caught in her iron grip, quickly froze and became shelled and temporarily preserved in a layer of thick ice.

[MIFF]

Today was a good day. Miff's headache was gone. The local Minnish were scurrying around in their tiny sizes, scared and confused by his mighty presence(He assumed). The world itself was so frightened of him that it had brought about an early winter just to try to slow the Deku down, apparently. That was the best reason Miff could figure for the chill in the air and the patches of ice, at least.

"Heh, stupid little Minnish. If you were really tough like me you wouldn't need to grow big to fight," the Mad Scrub said aloud with his spout raised haughtily in the air. Miff had a bit of a thing against people who thought size mattered. A really big thing against them, actually. He would have had some small semblance of respect for the Minnish if they didn't have the ability to increase their size. Maybe he would have, anyway. OK probably not. Respect was something Miff only knew about in regards to receiving it from others. Giving it out wasn't exactly in his limited repertoire of emotions. "Take a good look you weaklings! The strongest monster in Hyrule walks among yooowaaahh!"

Miff's feet suddenly slipped out from under him and, after several wild steps that didn't get him anyway at all but fumbling on a slick path, the Mad Scrub fell on his butt in the grass. Somewhere the Deku heard a Minnish giggling. If he could have found it he would have spit something at it.

"OK, what is going on here!?" Miff demanded once back to his feet. It was one thing for nature to try to kill him because he was too awesome for the world. It was quite another for it to make a fool out of him! Noticing that the patches of frost seemed to form a trail the orange-leaved marskman took off in hot pursuit.

Isolde smiled warmly at the flowers that had were trapped in her icy fingers and she sat down. Quite forcefully, causing part of the forest floor to shake enough that leaves, nuts, and fruits toppled helplessly from their branches. The silly woman had no idea what a ruckus she was creating, she was much too enthralled by the new surroundings to even notice.

She lifted a finger to stroke the iced petal of a flower. Her touch was too strong, however, and it caused the flower to break off. "Oh, oops!" She said, shrugging it off with absolutely no concern. And with that, she stood up and dropped the frozen bouquet to the ground, which then shattered, then stomped over to the next point of interest. A fruit bearing tree, which, to most, was nothing to fawn over, but to an ice imbued Goron that lived off of rocks and had seen very little variety, it was quite spectacular.

[MIFF]

Eventually Miff came across some frozen flowers shattered on the ground. Though incredibly angry about earlier the Mad Scrub knew that this was a clue. He had to inspect the scene carefully for any remaining traces of the culprit. Get a good look for footprints, signs of multiple parties or any clues as to their motives for being here. His red eyes took it all in as he scanned the forest floor, detailing a rough biography of the criminal in his mind based on the evidence at hand. Yes! Now he was prepared to hunt the interloper down, no matter how far his search might take him!

Oh, there she was. By that tree over there.

"Hey you!" Miff demanded with as threatening a squeak a she could muster. "What's the big idea!?"

"Ooooooh." She cooed, the direct path of her breath chilling the fruit of the tree closest to her. The woman had been just about to reach for one, but it was saved from her touch by a furious little Deku. "Hm?" Isolde turned around to find the source of the voice.

Since Miff was so small, it took her a little while to locate him. She had just been about to write it off as a mind trick when she had spotted him. She'd never seen a Deku before. Alerting her of his presence probably wasn't a good idea.

Isolde's eyes widened in amazement. He was so tiny! So cute! So new! What was he? Her hands slapped against her cheeks and she squealed happily. "Oh my gosh!" She yelped, then ran toward him, completely ignorant of his tone.

[MIFF]

"Yeah that's right! It's me!" Miff said assertively at Isolde's first words upon spotting him. This particular Mad Scrub assumed that most everybody in the world knew him, after all, so her reaction was no surprise. Most people were in awe when meeting a legend like him for the first time. "Now explain yourse-what are you doing!?"

Seeing something big come barreling at him was almost always taken as a threatening action by the Deku. This was because it usually occurred after he had spit a nut at something big, but even when that first event hadn't occurred(yet) Miff still had a knee-jerk reaction to being rushed most of the time: Flower Flight. As Isolde came down upon him Miff was suddenly no longer below her but above, flying up out of reach by the lift of two long orange leaves spinning atop his head.

"What's the big idea!?" he demanded from mid air.

By flying out of her reach, Miff had only strengthened the growing interest that Isolde had in him. This led to a great determination to get a hold of him, just to see what he was. Completely ignoring his questions, Isolde stretched up to try to reach him. Soon realizing that wouldn't quite cut it, she lowered herself down into a squat and launched herself up towards him and attempted to grab the strange flying wooden ball. The flowers on his head looked so pretty. She wondered what they smelled like.

[MIFF]

Miff's hovering was already wearing off as the leaves on his head lost steam. Just as he was lowering back to earth though the huge... thing(!) below him hunched down and launched itself up. Miff was under attack! Now ay was this freak getting its mitts on him!

Spitting an Air Puff that was visible in ghostly white thanks to his proximity to Isolde Miff was launched out of the air backwards, well out of the Goron's range. He landed and rolled a ways away and promptly got back to his feet. The Mad Scrub was back in his usual mindset and now quite ticked off to boot.

"You want a fight you crazy Goron-y thing!?" Miff demanded, not exactly sure if Isolde was of the race she most resembled or just some random monster. None of the Goron's he'd pelted nuts at on Death Mountain were her colour... or that cold! "Fine, you got one!'

Miff emphasized this by spitting a Deku Nut at his opponent.

Isolde landed empty-handed with a very loud thud, but was hardly deterred by the unsuccessful grab. The mysterious creature just got more and more amazing! She just had to catch him so she could find out what he was! He was a tricky one, and this only encouraged instead of discouraged the painfully naive woman.

The nut that Miff spit at her in anger hit her square in the forehead.
"Ow..." She mumbled, rubbing the spot that was hit. The nut had landed a little bit away from her and she walked over to pick it up, freezing it in the process. Now, normally one would understand that Miff was attacking, Isolde, though, had come to a completely different conclusion.
"You want to play catch?!" She asked, a big grin spreading across her face. Alright, that would be fun! Frozen deku nut in hand, Isolde forcefully threw it right back to where it came.

[MIFF]

"Woah! Hey! Woah!" Miff said as he scattered off to the side, narrowly avoiding Isolde's powerful throw just because of their distance apart. The flustered Deku turned to face the Goron(He was sure she was a Goron now. They had thrown things at him with their crazy strength too) and snorted. "You'll have to do better than that!"

Instead of a nut Miff promptly started blowing a bubble out of his spout. Once fully inflated the Deku Bubble jet out through the air in a spiraling pattern straight toward the frosty vagabond.

Isolde giggled delightedly at the speed Miff scampered out of the way of the nut. What fun this was! She stopped and watched closely at the bubble coming from his nose. Sensing no sort of danger, the woman walked right up to it, popping it with her index finger. "Oh!" It had surprised her, what with how her aura slightly changed her general surroundings. "Another one!" She urged Miff eagerly, her grin spreading again, barely making note that it was more difficult to move.

[MIFF]

"Think you're a tough guy, eh?" Miff asked defiantly, ignoring Isolde's obviously feminine features and voice in the process. Miff was also ignoring that shooting more than one bubble wouldn't have any effect at all when he complied with the girl's request, "Fine! Take this!"

Two more Deku Bubbles took the air, one after the other. Each flew about at a rapid pace as they spiraled toward Isolde just like the first.

Isolde happily popped both of the bubbles, just like last. But now with those two stacked with the other bubble, it was near extremely difficult for her to move. Now she was beginning to become a little trouble. "Hey... What is this stuff, little guy? I can't move so good anymore." She asked Miff. There was a trace amount of concern in her voice, only because she assumed they were playing a game, not that he was trying to harm her. Isolde squirmed awkwardly, as if trying to work the slowness out of her system.

[MIFF]

"Hahaha!"

Miff laughed triumphantly. Sometime she forgot that the bubbles don't actually hurt... at all. He assumed that Isolde was overcome with terror from the might he had displayed and walked triumphantly toward her.

"Not so fast now, are you?" he taunted, no longer afraid of her strength(Not that he ever was to begin with, of course). "That's what you get for daring to attack the great and powerful Miff!"

Surely this would be a lesson that she would never forget.

Suddenly, it dawned on her. Miff here, the spunky little Deku, didn't want to play catch. No, she should have realized that when he started blowing the weird bubbles. It was a different game! How silly of her, it was the game they were already playing. All she was supposed to do was try to catch him and she would win. The bubbles were to make it harder. Now she understood!

"I get it now, hehe!" She laughed, beginning to enjoy herself again once she realized what was going on. The Deku was fun. He kept her guessing, and she loved how she was learning things so quickly! It made her feel so very clever. Isolde struggled through the slowness towards Miff again, eventually it'd fade, right? Either way, she was sure she'd find a way to catch him.

[MIFF]

She got it now. She understood that he was the greatest and that it would be best for her to WHY WAS SHE COMING AT HIM AGAIN!? Did this stupid Goron not learn her lesson already!? Miff fumed as Isolde forced herself at him, clearly going as fast as she could through the slowing effect of his bubbles. She still meant to get her frosty little(OK big) hands on him!

She was a brave one, Miff would give her that. He didn't like brave people.

"Fine, have it your way!" the Deku said, taking in a breath. When ready he released six Deku Seeds at Isolde. He was ware that, in the past, the natural toughness of the Gorons had reduced his attacks to barely anything at all. Miff assumed he was a million times stronger now than he was then and that THIS Goron would be devastated.

Brazenly Miff ignored that he had already gotten closer and that Isolde wad just closing the very small remaining gap.

The nuts again! They bounced off of Isolde's body, immediately becoming encased in ice afterwards. They hurt her a little bit, but nowhere near enough to deter her. She even managed to catch two this time, and threw them back at Miff with a giggle. Maybe she could use them to slow him down too! Of course, since they weren't the bubbles, they wouldn't quite have the same effect, but hey, if she managed to hit him, he might get knocked unconscious or something. Then she'd be victorious!

[MIFF]

"Ow! OW!" Miff complained as two small bits of ice pelted him. The Mad Scrub was not deterred, however. The Goron, with its huge, rock-hard arms, could never match the firing power of Miff with his tiny, wooden spout. Not in a million years! He would endure any pain to prove that fact and stood his ground. Isolde seemed to be giggling. Did she think he was a joke? Miff would have none of that!

"Come on then!" Miff said as he looked back up, red eyes piercing into the frosty vagabond's. The Mad Scrub was defiant to her threat, ready and willing to rumble. "Show me what you've got!"

"Show you what I've got?" Isolde asked, a curious expression on her face. Hmmm... Well, of course she should show him what she could do too! That's only fair. She pondered her options for a moment before a new emotion flickered across her face. This emotion signified an idea, and quite an excellent one at that. "Alright! I can do that!"

The frosted Goron stiffened so rapidly and forcefully that slight tremors could be seen rippling through her body. These only lasted a moment and she stomped the ground, releasing her aura into the ground. The surrounding area was now covered in a thick sheet of ice. Isolde clapped for herself, being quite pleased with what she accomplished. It was her first time trying out her Winter Arsenal. "How's that?" She asked, eagerly awaiting Miff's answer.

[MIFF]

"Ah-choo!"

Miff honked a few times from the sudden drop in temperature. What was it with big, thick-skinned people taking him to ridiculously cold places!? Miff did not want that to be a recurring trend in his life! The Deku looked around to find that the entire forest as far as he could see was laced with white frost. It wasn't particularly slippery though, based on some preliminary foot-tapping he performed in a very scientific manner. After determining this he looked up to Isolde again.

He spat a Deku Nut in her face at point-blank range.

"Hmph. Is that all you've got?" he asked afterward, unimpressed but quite cold.
