I just got My Ocarina!

And boy do i suck with it x3

Yes it's a Fairy Ocarina, from Song bird Ocarina. Even as a kid I preferred the fairy for some reason, and I think I'm pretty alone on that, everyone love the ocarina of time after all.

And beside it being a cool piece of Zelda collectible I really like the flute, it's very sweet sounding x3.

But so anyway, I'm guessing there's a few of you who play it, so does anyone have some tips for a newby

I can play four, six and twelve hole ocarina. If you've got the fairy ocarina from songbird..I just had to pick up mine and play a quick tune to remember, it's range is just over the octave, notes C-E. Not bad, gives you a fair amount of flexibility. All of the Zelda songs are perfect for it of course.

Best tips I can give you: Learn to read Ocarina tab, that will make your life so much easier. It's simple to learn and there's lots avaliable online. If you want a tutorial on how to read the tab, PM me and I'll put one together for you.

Work on your breathing, keep it consistant, that will make the sound much smoother. Use the diaphragm muscle for the higher notes, you'll need the extra push trust me.

Practise, practise practise. You'll build up muscle memory if your fingers so you'll be able to do it with your eyes shut after a while, literally. I can do a Link and close my eyes while I play XD

Yeah I knew a thing or two about the technical, I suppose I should have listed it, I prefer more soprano flutes myself, though I'm not positive how a C rates on that, I do still have a lot to learn, but I'm very eager to, I DO have an honest love of music ^^

And yeah a tutorial would be nice, I'll send you a PM in a bit, a song book DID come with it.

Yeah I hate to admit, but while I've always head a love of flutes of all kinda and many wing instruments, I've never used one. So I can't even be sure if I'm BREATHING into the dang thing right....

And of course! I payed fifty dollars for this thing after all xD
