SoS Minecraft Server

I was thinking last night, since I know quite a few of us, myself included, play minecraft, that we should start hosting our own SoS server. I'd be happy to do it, but I'll be on the move the next few days back and forth between here and Pennsylvania and won't be able to host a server at all times. So my question is twofold:

1. Would anybody here be interested in a minecraft server?

2. Can anyone here successfully host one?

I've only got a laptop myself so I can't host. I think Medy was looking into it before he left, so let's see what he has to say. Worst case scenario hosting is available to buy, though as admin I cannot endorse that.
