It had not even been dawn when Kaythenia had left Castle Town, discreetly as ever. Despite the need to remain within the walls of the Town, under the watchful gaze of Youkai and under the employment of Baal Tansley. There was something else she felt the need to do despite the risk, it had been nearly fifteen years to the date since she had seen this place. The young woman almost dreaded what she might find there, her memories of her childhood home outside of Faron Woods with her Mother were tinged and faded at the edges with age. The last time she had seen it was when she was dragged outside by Marcus before a sack had been thrust over her head, through a small hole in the rough, stinking fabric she had seen smoke rising high into the air. Even if there was nothing but ruins left she still felt the need to see them, even all these years later and make an offering for her Mother, she doubted the people of Ordon ever did.
Kaythenia moved past Ordon, best she stay out of a small village where she would possibly be easily remembered by it's inhabitants. Davik relentless hunting still continued and the Bard knew better than Youkai or Baal how his twisted mind worked, sadly he knew her patterns as well. Their narrow avoidences of eachother were almost a waltz, Davik following in her steps no matter how many times she deviated from the path along the way. Although she refused to let her mind wander past awareness of his possibly being close by, something Kaythenia had forced herself to learn so she could sleep at night. It had been a long time since she had been in this area of Hyrule, the labryinthine paths she once walked with knowledge of every tree seemed different. Or perhaps it was she who was different, Kaythenia couldn't be entirely sure. Still she let her feet carry her, the faint light through the trees dappling her skin and bright hair until she finally set foot upon the familiar ground. Where the tiny cottage had once stood there was nothing but it's blackened foundations, slowly returning to the earth as the Goddesses intended.
Slowly she moved towards it and stood on the charred stonework that had once been the flooring, where she stood now had been a small living space almost full to bursting with her Mother's books. It was not an usual sight to find Eayeth curled up like a cat with a book, that felt like so long ago. Kaythenia could almost hear her voice reading aloud to her from the many books or her laughter, she crouched down and brushed her fingers against the stone, the rough surface scraping her fingertips.
'I was right of one thing, no memorial...surely they saw the fire..'
An unpleasant feeling burnt the back of Kaythenia's throat, there was no use in giving into such emotions so many years after the event. She most likely wouldn't tell Youkai she came here, Baal would know better than to query her whereabouts. That was one thing she could praise her employer for, he did not ask unwanted questions or pry where she did not desire to speak of. With a sigh, Kaythenia rose to her feet, her boots clicking on the surface of the foundations.
