So, do I have to post a riddle, or can I post a word puzzle as well?

I was wanting to post up a paragraph and ask what's odd about it, but I suppose it may be too much for some people. Should I just decide on a riddle then?

Fine, you asked for it.
"Gatsby was walking back from a visit down in Branton Hill's manufacturing district on a Saturday night. A busy day's traffic had had its noisy run; and with not many folks in sight, His Honor got along without having to stop to grasp a hand, or talk; for a mayor out of City Hall is a shining mark for any politician. And so, coming to Broadway, a booming bass drum and sounds of singing, told of a small Salvation Army unit carrying on amidst Broadway's night shopping crowds. Gatsby, walking towards that group, saw a young girl, back toward him, just finishing a long, soulful oration ... "
What is unusual about the paragraph?
If you wish, we could ignore this, and use an easy riddle instead...

*Raises hand*
I originally told Caramon that I wouldn't answer this (as I've heard it before), but can I answer it as no-one else is going to? =P

I'll take that as a yes.
It took me ages to get anywhere near the answer to this when I first heard it, after a few hints about what was used in the passage. I looked to letters and thought perhaps that it was a ridiculously long "pangram", a sentence using all of the letters in the English alphabet. So, I went through the letters. There's an A, a B, a C and a D... but there's no E anywhere in this passage.
'E' is the most commonly used letter in the English alphabet and it doesn't feature once in that passage, which is what is so unusual about that word puzzle.
My riddle is (and it's not a tough one if you read it carefully, but it's nice).
A man was found dead in his study, slumped over his desk with a gun in his hand. There was a cassette recorder on his desk. Upon arriving, the police (the first people to find the man), entered the room and pressed the play button on the tape recorder and heard: "I can't go on. I have nothing to live for". Then, there was the sound of a gunshot.
How did the detective immediately know that the man had been murdered and that it wasn't a suicide?

Indeed, someone else must've been there to rewind it back to the beginning.
There are a few holes in that riddle, perhaps the other guy was there to assist with the suicide! But, that is the answer I was after.
You're up, Bilby.

Haha, that's a fairly old riddle. Clever though.
'Tis a human with the stages of the day referring to stages of its life. Babies crawl on all fours, before then eventually progressing to walking on two legs in the middle part of their life. And then eventually, a third leg by the name of a walking stick is used to assist movement and stuff.
I'll throw out a simple one.
I follow you every day and leave you at night. I disappear when a cloud approaches. I am yours and yours only.
What am I?
