"Glad to be here. I'll do my best." Volkin turned and walked the length of the deck, eyes wide as he finally started to take in just how big this ship was. "Hello!" Volkin waved to Dekethorn and began to prance alongside him. "I'm Volkin, chief lookout. Nice to meet you."
He wondered about this strange plant man and mentally began to scroll through the kinds of questions that he could ask him without being offensive or digging too deeply. Volkin couldn't help it, it was the curiosity of someone who knew very little about the outside world who had found something new to learn about.

Dekethorn looked at the man-weasel with a glare.
"What are you looking at? Can't you see I'm busy plotting the demise of the seas? We have to go go go! Get up on the crow's nest you fool!" He then ran off and checked cannons again. He cared little for others who didn't help out, and he felt as if he really didn't need a lookout. He had sharp eyes. Evil eyes.

"But if you blow it all up then there's no more treasure or adventure! Can't you just blow up part of it?" He would leave the plant-like man with that thought as he rounded around and began looking over the rest of the ship. Once he felt certain that he at least knew the general location of most things, he looked upward and made his way to the main mast.
Volkin tried not to take offense at the gunners contempt for him but he found his face flushing all the same. He quickly brushed it off, however, as he began climbing for the crow's nest. He was looking forward to seeing what sort of view it might offer.

When Volkin got to the crow's nest he'd find T.R. already there. How'd she get there without anyone noticing? How'd she get there so quick? T.R. had a way of being where she wanted to be, somehow. People long ago learned not to question it. Questions in general were usually met with fire. And there were few people alive today who weren't bothered by being set on fire. Damned Human Champion and her fiery abilities.
When Volkin arrived at the top, T.R. was sitting on the lip of the basket with her feet dangling out over the rigging, the deck far below. She obviously didn't fear the height, considering a strong gust of wind might send her sprawling. She glanced over at the Minish when he arrived and giggled. "Oh don't mind Woody, he's only ever fascinated by his nuts," she chirped when he arrived, and giggled wildly.
With a deft shift of her weight and lift of her legs she was no longer sitting on the lip but standing inside the basket. She tilted her head and examined Volkin. "So what're you supposed to be, a rat?" she asked with an innocent giggle, complete with a tactful touch of obliviousness. "Ships do seem to attract rats," she mused to herself, looking upward at the flag momentarily as she considered that thought further than it needed to be considered.

If Volkin was surprised to see Tabula had beaten him to the crows nest he didn't show it. He'd given her plenty of time to start up before him while he'd been looking around. "I'll keep that in mind. I'm worried about him though. He might blow up the ships before we can loot them." He hopped over the side and took a seat on the edge, watching her curiously.
"A weasel. We prey on rodents, should we hunt." He said it in an off-hand sort of manner. It was an easy mistake to make really and there was no shame in being a rat. Hell, one of his best friends for a little while was a rat minish.
As Tabula Rasa considered the mast, Volkin looked out to see what there was to see from the nest. "It really is something, isn't it?" There was a kind of awe in his voice as he looked out over all of it. Perhaps it was naivete that made him unafraid of Tabula Rasa, or perhaps he was just too distracted by all of the new changes to realize that he should be.

Rennal nodded, soaking up the knowledge. It was amazing what adversity can do to people, what hardship can spring. "I didn't grow up around this, so my apologies if I seem... on edge." He grimaced at the idea of having to share a ship with these races. How unclean. But at least he was free, so he didn't have to worry. "So when do we leave?" "Give it a little time within a month they'll be just like family...a bleedin' big family." Merik replied as he looked around at the slowly slowing crew on the deck below. "Crew should have everything stowed below..."The King walked down the stairs to the next level of the sterncastle and over to the helm, looking out at the crew once more. "All ASHORE'S GOIN' ASHORE! Raise the gangplank, man the capstans, hoist anchor!"

T.R. blinked, looking back down at the Minish. "Huh?" she asked, having lost her train of thought. She shook her head and giggled, that manic look appearing once more. "Rats and weasels are the same thing. They're treacherous individuals who will sell you out for the highest price or the best deal. And they both roast just as equally, so don't go getting any ideas, alright, rat-boy?" she said, batting her lashes a few times.
The captain gave a shout before she could continue. T.R. whirled around with a ballerina's grace, hopped up on the lip of the basket and grabbed a rope. "You be a good little pet and nothing'll happen to you. Just remember: don't bite the hand that feeds~!" And with that last thought to Volkin she jumped and slid down the rope to land right beside the captain, giggling again.
"What's our course, capt'n? Or are we just going out to enjoy some raping and pillaging?" she cooed happily, throwing a nastily mischievous look over at Rennel nearby.

Merik, so used to T.R.'s quick comings and goings aboard the ship, didn't even look up as she dropped beside him.
"With the desert resupply run completed we'll make for Pirate's Bay for a quick stop. A quick topper for our own supplies and we'll go huntin' for whatever the Goddesses have in store for us: A merchant galleon loaded with rupees and treasure? A war frigate for the armada? Perhaps a long lost continent far from Hyrule to conquer and control? Who can truly say..."

Rennal raised an eyebrow, unsure of what he was supposed to do right now. He was armoury master... so he figured he should go down there and make sure everything was in order, huh.
He raised at eyebrow at T.R., wondering really what her problem was. He probably could live very happily never speaking to her again...
As the boat began to move, he went over to the railing to look out. He wondered if he would ever see Hyrule again, then decided it was for the best. At least he wouldn't be chased around by Hylian Knights anymore, at least not as Rennal. He was a pirate, so they'd be looking for him for a different reason.
A deadlier reason.

T.R. turned that manic gaze of hers over at Rennel as his eyebrow went up. A wide grin spread across her face as she turned her attention back to the deck for a moment as the crew ran about, getting ready to set sail. Once she was content that everyone was running about their duties with sufficient efficiency, that attention turned back to Rennel. Now she was going to have some fun with this one.
"So what's your story, anyway, little one?" she cooed as she sauntered toward him. "You don't even have your sea legs yet, I don't think. What brings you to the open water? Running from the law? Running from responsibility? Family?" she asked innocently enough, leaning forward and stroking his cheek with the palm of her hand. "Poor little lost soul coming under the capt'n's wing, I bet." she asked and giggled loudly.

"...." Volkin watched her curiously, wondering if she really understood what a Minish was and that being a literal animal was far different than the human slang terms for people who were similar to said animals. Before he could work out his confusion at her lack of knowledge on a ship with such a large crew, the captain called out and she was gone.
"Oh well...strange woman." He shook his head and moved around the crows nest, looking for the place where he could get the best view of the surrounding area.

Rennal growled a little as she ran her Gerudo scum hand across his cheek, and he felt a chill run up his spine. Confounded Gerudo woman, stop touching me. Instead he sighed and looked at her. "My story isn't that big. And you don't need to give me that look, I can take good care of myself."
He felt disgusted, and like a child for the first time since he left home. This woman reminded him of his mother, and it stirred in him a hatred beyond belief. Not even that Ooccan woman at the lake had resembled Mother as much as this Gerudo woman. He hated being treated like a child, like he was useless. Like he was nothing. He had a feeling he would not get along well with her. He shot a glare her way as he finished speaking.

T.R. was perhaps the furthest thing from Gerudo on the ship, being one of the few, if only, hybrids present. She saw the way the kid was squirming against her touch, but not outright resisting. He wanted her to go away, he wanted her to not be in his life, and this just caused T.R. to giggle sadistically. She tilted her head and kept herself uncomfortably close to the boy.
"My you seem unfamiliar to touch. Poor youngster has never had a woman, I imagine," she cooed softly into his ear. Her palm closed around his cheek and she pinched and pulled teasingly, making no effort to keep her clawed gauntlets from digging into his flesh. Not harsh, but enough to incite some pain. "Don't be afraid, little one. So long as you're aboard this ship we're family, and that means we're going to be seeing a whole lot of each other," she added and giggled happily, playing with his cheeks much like an aunt would do to a child.

Rennal grinded his teeth together. He hated her so much. Pinching the cheeks... Mother stopped doing that when he turned thirteen, but he had some not-so-fond memories of being cuddled like a baby, just like this, in front of everyone. Just like this. "Could you stop that?" He said, feeling her gauntlets poke against his cheek.
If she wouldn't stop, he would seriously be angry.

She did as he said. Or at least, she took her hand away. She wasn't done bugging him, but honestly, the purpose of the cheek rubbing was over with. Intuit Manipulation kicked in and she could only grin widely at him, perhaps the most evil of her looks thus far spreading across her face. With a single finger she slipped the claw under the necklace he wore and slid her hand around to reveal the pendant.
"Oh deary me, someone's been a naughty boy," she cooed. Full of secrets, this one was. That just made things so much more fun. "Where'd you get this? Maybe you stole it. Gift from some lost lover. No, you're too green to know women. Perhaps it was a family heirloom," she said, straining the words just enough to show her knowing without drawing any attention to them. And then she giggled, letting the pendant fall back around his neck. "Secrets only get you in trouble, little boy. Why, just the other day I saw a poster for a poor missing child by the name of Rennal. What do you think befell him? Running away as if he had something to hide. Probably dead under a dock somewhere by now, so green to the world."

From the helm Merik could see T.R. and Rennal conversing...well actually probably more of T.R. playing her little mind games as she usually did with the new members, but over the hustle and bustle of the crew he couldn't make out what was being said. As the final preparations were made and the last of the Desert Gerudo returned to the dock he looked down once more.
"A'right me hearties, cast off and run out the sweeps! The sun and sea call out to us and it's past time we answered!" the King called out as the ship finally began to move, the tide and oars dragging the Defiant out into the open sea.
"Course is set for Pirate's Bay...HOIST THE SAILS!"

Volkin felt the excitement rise in his chest as the order was given to head out to sea. It was the adventure he'd always wanted and now here he was. The smell of the sea air seemed the sweetest and most beautiful smell he had ever had the joy of experiencing.
Turning his attention downward, he saw Tabula Rasa hassling one of the other new crewmates. It was starting to dawn on him that perhaps her insistence that he was just like those that humans labeled to have rat-like personalities due to being a weasel was more than just her being confused.

Rennal scowled as she played on his heart and his mind like the ***** that she was. The family heirloom. The missing child. Rennal. He didn't care that they were setting sail, and in fact throwing this ***** overboard would be doing the crew a favour.
He clenched his fists, raised his fist to the level of his eyes, and... put it back down.
There was no point starting a fight. He'd just get thrown in the stocks. So instead, he choose to be more discreet. He reached out, and ran a finger along her cheek. He admitted, she wasn't that bad-looking. "You know, T.R...." He took his hand away. "You are ugly when you're analyzing."
Then he turned around and walked toward Merik, hopeful that she wouldn't follow.
And he checked to make sure his pendant was still around his neck.

(OOC: Heads up for you guys: I prefer posting in first person, as it helps me to get more in touch with my character and experience things through their eyes instead of seeing it from a third person perspective, allowing me to more effectively portray events around me.)
As I come up from the side of the ship after rechecking the lines for the fourth time, I can feel the tension and hide back behind the side of the ship until things cool down. Since I hear little of goings on from below decks, and try my best to not draw attention to myself, yet being as large as I am, and also having wings, it's hard to not be able to be noticed, so I decide to get up and go talk to the new recruit.
"Allo there, I'm Caramon, Caramon Zero, the Bosun on this marvelous vessel, it's good to see a new face every once-in-a-while, where ya from matey?"
I offer my hand to him and smile.
"Hey, No Worries, mate. The others're just like that, it time, if you take the time to get to know them, you'll find they're a rather proper bunch of Noble Pirates. Hm... it seems that you're not accustomed to this sort of living, so if you ever need anything, just ask, a'ight? Welcome aboard, brother." [/b][/i]

Merik watched as Rennal seemingly concluded the exchange with T.R. as he began marching towards the captain, only to be intercepted by Caramon along the way. Seeing that brief interlude as a chance to speak with his Lieutenant he waited until he caught her eye and nodded her over.
"So as I'm sure the lad's probably going to have a brief complaint about the discussion you had with him I'm just going to save time and ask: was there actually anything worthwhile that you found or were you just playing to play? If it comes up the answer's going to remain the same either way but you know I prefer to know if there is anything of importance." he asked quietly as the oars eased them out a bit further from the cave and cliffs.
