Among the Living (Finished)

Ruma took his instructions to heart and began to weld out a piece of the metal he traced in.

"It's saved me a lot of time. I don't have to worry about a furnace anymore, and I don't need to worry about hauling any materials to a furnace. Saves me a lot of time." She finished the piece and welded along the edges just to smooth it all out.

"I want to be able to help in any way possible. With this, I can ferry important people across the sky quickly, or I can drop ordnance on armies from a safe distance. It's a very useful tool few can muster up. Plus, it nullifies the advantages from flying troops, like bird minish or oocca." She deliberately left out fairies in there. They were allies. Handing the welded piece to him, she smiled. "Ready when you are."

Taking the piece he said nothing as he listen to Ruma as she explained the reason behind the ship. He understood the usefulness of the ship, but like all things it's always returned to war and fighting. However something about this girl made him believe it wasn't just all about war, but really for helping others. He could see it in the smile as he couldn't help but smile back as he placed the metal along the front, running his hand along it before bending it just a little. Moving along the edge and then up as he picture the side of the ship in his head. "Here. connect it along here." He would point to the two piece that's was next to each other. After it he would walk to the side and soon sit down on the ground. Although the sweat was hard to see on his blue skin it was evident on his pants as he was now almost cover in it. "It's...It's going to take some getting use too! This heat I mean..."

Ruma listened to his instructions yet again and welded the pieces together. It wasn't difficult, though now she was a bit more concerned about the fact that Kazu was tired and sweaty.

"Go get something to drink. I can't have you dehydrated. I'll stay here, I have another side project I need to be working on anyway." She gave him a hand to help him get up, and pointed him towards the water basin in her lab. "For some reason the heat doesn't affect me nearly as much. I would attribute it to just getting used to it but it was that way when I first mastered it too." She never really bothered to question it, as it had no effect on her. But she failed to understand the effect it had on others. She might have to consider some more practice.

"It's one of the mystery of magic I guess." said as he did what he was told and took her hand to help up. Another project he thought to himself as he slowly walked to the basin. Drop down next to the water Kazu could smell the scent of the water in the air as he used a bowl to bring some to his face. At first it appeared that he was going to drink it until he tossed it into his face releasing a sigh of relief. Taking another bowl he would poring it on his head and smiled as it washed over his blue hair and down his gray back. "At times like this I'm so happy I'm a half breed. A normal Zola would be dead by now, but thankfully I can sweat, thanks to my mother" said just taking a drank of water.

Ruma tapped her chin, pondering. The zora part of him was obvious, but what exactly was his other half.

"You're half shark or half-human?" she asked him as the water cooled him down. Watching it, she couldn't resist taking a bowl of her own and drinking from it. Even if the heating didn't affect her, she was still doing tedious work that required her to remain hydrated.

"I really lucked out finding an underground oasis beneath here. After that it was just a matter of putting in the right pipes, which is actually harder than it sounds." Or it was easy and Ruma screwed up twice, but no one needed to really know that. Few ever visit her here, it was her private time, and she preferred to keep it that way.

Crossing his arm Kazu thought about what he was just asked as it was something many never really asked him. "That's a hard one to say really. My father, if you want to call him that, was a mixed of Shark and Zola, buts that's all I really knows of him as I have never met him myself. My mother oddly enough was a Hylain, which is why I am so human and have hair and the ears" Moving his hands up to move his ears in a playful manner before continuing.

"Even so I was raised mostly by the Zolas village that was next to the human port where my mother lived...Mom..." he said as he turned around as his tail wrapped around him again, but said nothing. Before looking back at the water. "I can't a imagine placing pipes into the ground where water already is can't be easy. Just how deep is it?"

"Interesting. Your body type does indicate hybrid, though I never really thought about it." She hadn't heard much of how rough hybrid life is, though they couldn't have it particularly easy. Granted, her entire tribe were hybrids, since being a tribe of all females didn't leave a lot of opportunity for breeding within the race.

"It's not too deep, maybe about...what?" she was interrupted. She adjusted her helmet and placed her audio equipment in front of her mouth. "No, shut it down. It's doing what? No, I'll be right there, keep it under control. Well, don't give me that, I didn't give it intelligence, it's probably just malfunctioning. Just remember who you answer to right now." Typically Ruma didn't flaunt her position, but being elevated to leadership status and having your tech ridiculed didn't help her attitude.

"Sorry, I have to take care of something out in the fortress. You stay here and outline what pieces need to be shaped for the hull, then make your way back to my quarters. Second door on your right after you exit the lab."

Kazu would suddenly jump as Ruma would began yelling into her helmet. He was about ask something but was cut off as he as told to finish outlining and then head to her quarters. Watching as she ran off to do what was needed of her Kazu only stood blinking "Was she talking to her helmet?"

Shrugging it off he would take one more drink before returning to work. Moving swiftly and clearly he would mark out every piece that would be needed for the outer parts of the hull and even a few for the inter. Before leaving the lab he made sure every outline was easy for anyone could understand. Just over a hour later Kazu would exit the lab and walked the long hall way back to the main hallways. Most might have took this to try and make a run for it, but Kazu knew better. Instead he did as he was told and headed for Ruma room where he would wait for, well what ever he would be doing next.
